Ive had great experiences with Clio over the 10+ years I’ve worked with them.

Pros

Easy to use core features of contact management, time tracking, and billing, combined with extensive list of integrations with other software providers.

Cons

Nothing really. Maybe the price creeping up.

### "Crucial part of our law firm"

February 14, 2023

5.0

We are sure that there are more things that Clio offers that we are not utilizing. Does Clio offer any Continuing Legal Education for credit?

Pros

Clio allows our law firm to provide and store all our client's data in their matter. Easily shared between staff members.

Cons

We use Quickbooks Desktop and it doesn't sync with Clio well. It would be great if this could be an added feature. Also, it would be nice to automatically sync emails from outlook without having to file each time. Maybe with the option to choose which emails could be filed.

### "You need Clio to streamline your Law Firm"

October 20, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with Clio is that it is very user friendly. It makes remote working very easy by allowing all matter activity to be tracked, keeping your entire team on the same page.

Pros

The think I like most about this software is how easy it was to use. I did not have a legal backgound and the firm I started with did not have an onboarding program. I had to train myself how to use the software. The resources available on line and the customer service made this process a breeze. I was able to discover that the firm did not have the software set up properly and they were not utilizing any of the features that make the soft ware amazing. Within a few months I was able to set up the infrastructure properly, write an office procedures manual and increase their productivity! This is the best legal case management software on the market.

Cons

The improvements that would be helpful are upgrades in the automation of emails that we send repeatedly like quarterly fee statements. It would also be helpful if Clio provided a draft list of tasks and documents by case type so that clients were not reinventing the wheel if they do not need to.

Great for time tracking, troubling on the accounting end. Customer support used to be great but now it’s shorter on solutions and higher on upselling

Pros

Time tracking. Very easy to use and no complaints here

Cons

Trust accounting errors. This is of course terrifying when the program indicates transfers have been made from trust to a balance but the transaction isn’t reflected on the balance

### "Excellent software for end-users with minimal law experience"

January 11, 2023

4.0

Clio Manage has become our tool of choice to navigate and manage our client's information, create and track documents, track billable time, pull reports, house templates, streamline billing, and manage calendaring all in one place. Customer service is \*chef's kiss\* - I am constantly engaging Live Chat for even the smallest issues or inquiries and the representatives are always kind, knowledgeable and eager to help, even researching and suggesting solutions.

Pros

Clio Manage is easy to use. I have trained 5+ entry-level employees on the software and have not had a problem with comprehension or navigation. The anticipatory design, options to customize fields and reports, and having all of our data in one place has streamlined our workflows and made us a more efficient firm.

Cons

Clio Launcher is not consistent for us. With any software, there are bugs but none have caused us downtime or loss of data. It is a bit pricey for our firm.

### "Clio in our law firm "

July 22, 2019

4.0

Our greatest benefit to date was when we added the payment links to our invoices and the speed we are now getting paid by clients. They love the online ability to pay for their bill and we love the speed it's processed in. The ease that the monthly billing process has become has also freed up a tremendous amount of time for staff.

Pros

The Clio platform was very easy to implement with our firm's daily usage. The onboarding process was smooth and the learning and transition for staff were easy. The software is meeting our firm's needs on a daily basis. I also appreciate that they listen to suggestions and continue to improve and add features throughout the year. Clio has allowed our monthly billing process to go from a day-long process to an hour process.

Cons

Some of the reporting features need to be fine-tuned or added to. My biggest pet peeve is the limit of 50 items to a page, so you update to 200 but it defaults back to 50 every time you move around between pages.

Reason for choosing Clio

We didn't want a super complicated, expensive, intense package like Time Matters. Bill4Time wasn't big enough or have enough features. Clio has been a perfect fit.

decent

Pros

the automatic invoice and calendar date notifications to client is wonderful

Cons

We have clients who change their emails frequently. we can update same in our system, however, if a notice of invoice/calendar was sent to a previous email, we are unable to change same, rather the client must. We have not had one client who was able to make the change through their clio portal, and we/they are frustrated at that. I spent an hour? or more on the phone with Tech support, and they were not able to resolve the issue either. We should have the ability to change this information

### "Why I find a Clio essential"

January 2, 2020

5.0

Terrific.

Pros

Why I find a Clio essential Is as a sole proprietor of a small business, Clio operates as my check and balance. The small law firm I was at prior to going on my own used Clio and while I do not use all the features because I do mostly appointed work, the features I do use are essential on assuring me I am on top of my game 99.44% of the time.

Cons

As a very busy person, what I like least about Clio is it operates as a reminder to me that I could probably do a lot more if I ever took the day or two to get all the educated on how to do some of the things I do in a rather long handled manner. I am 60 years old and have been a lawyer for 33 years. I recommend Clio to many of the young lawyers I know just starting out or only a few years in the practice to help them ensure themselves they’re keeping track of their time, their appointments, their clients etc. I point out any problem I’ve ever had with Clio was quickly addressed and fixed and that I couldn’t be happier. I have to tell them that if I was them and had their computer skills and knowledge this thing would operate all necessary prompting for me I have to tell them that if I was them and had their computer skills and knowledge this thing would operate all necessary prompting for me.

### "Clio case management and more"

September 24, 2022

5.0

Overall very happy with the product. It has had a positive and profitable impact on our practice.

Pros

Ease of use. The software allows us to maintain an active Insurance defense-based practice from timekeeping, billing, and account reconciliation to the expected document and case management features expected in the industry. Being able to work from a tablet or phone keeps Clio way ahead of the rest of the pack.

Cons

Add-ons are useful but expand the subscription costs.

### "Clio is the Leader of the Pack"

October 9, 2019

5.0

I have been using Clio for about 6 years. It has grown so much in that time. I am very pleased with the direction they have taken the product and I can't wait to see what else they come up with!

Pros

Clio is repeatedly at the top of the charts for available features. Clio is constantly working to improve their service and adding new features and functionality. We have had no problems to speak of. Any issues that we have had have been related to finding a particular option or feature.

Cons

I wish that Clio would support more advanced document generation. At present, it just does mail-merge-type generation. Substituting fields in Clio with a field indicator in a Word doc. I would love to be able to get rid of HotDocs and use Clio instead, but it just can't match what HotDocs can do. The other feature that I wish it supported is the ability for external uses (clients) to fill out forms or data, which can then be stored in Clio.

### "Very Helpful Tool"

February 14, 2023

5.0

Pros

It's very easy to intake new clients into the system. Clio Grow and Clio Manage are both very helpful tools in keeping track of clients and their different billing information. I would definitely recommend this program to another lawyer.

Cons

I have to make different email templates for different types of clients and the process of doing so is slightly complicated. Instructions on how to perform different functions in the program would be helpful for future use.

### "Clio, the best all purpose attorney software, bar none..."

April 21, 2020

4.0

Outstanding experience with something for everyone just depending on one's level of interest and need.

Pros

Functionality is nearly universal while specially and jusisdiction costomization is great. Easy law firm branding and pre sale marketing is brilliant. Support is outstanding and the Premium Support even better for speedy, live agent help. Cost is reasonable and many available plans on their menu of options. Clio grows nicely with solid feature burstsoften free to it's users. Excellent and often updated/enlarged mobile App across all usual platforms: Appke, Android, Windows... Superior online instant pay clientbinvoucing, and client trust account requests The wide assortment of excellent and Rock solid 3rd party software affiliations is very impresdive.

Cons

I was fortunate to have free help migrating my existing, Timeslips database compiled over many years but it ain't quite so free today...Also, I'm still not a fan of the communications tools for clients and othes not subscribed to Clio.

Reason for choosing Clio

Cost was far more advantageous to others and functionality far greater

### "I shouldn't have to call support every time I use a feature of the product."

August 11, 2017

2.0

Once started I was committed to use it until I have time to find a better alternative. Capterra.com was the primary tool I used to find Clio. I have concerns that the positive reviews are all fake.

Pros

Clio has the features I needed. I was fooled by the initial trial into thinking it would be a good fit for my firm. What use is a feature that is so complicated to find, use, and enable that I have to call support or Google how to make it work.

Cons

Nothing is intuitive, at first it seems like everything is going to work. Clio has all the features I wanted, or at least it seemed like it did. Once I used it for more than just the trial period, using it to manage my trust account, client billing, client communication, it just does not work. After using it for any length of time, the navigation gets tiresome and then frustrating. At every turn I find myself having to Google how to make it work. Sharing a document with a client requires several steps including typing in the client's contact info; instead of just clicking a button for share. Now my client can't enter a partial payment. What the heck? Prior to becoming an attorney I was a software engineer; I would have been embarrassed to put my name on such a product. Frankly, I don't trust the myriad of positive reviews for this product, they can't be true.

August 15, 2017

Hi Lee, First of all, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. Hearing from our less-than-satisfied customers helps us determine what the best course of action is when improving our product. I wanted to let you know that in a little over a month we'll be launching the first ground-up redesign of Clio in the 8 years since launch. The redesign will aim to improve customer experience and app navigation as a whole, and introduce a design built almost entirely off of our customer feedback. Lastly, I wanted to assure you that all the reviews on this site are 100% accurate and come from real customers (such as yourself). Every customer's experience using Clio is bound to be different, but we encourage our customers to share honest and open feedback with us at every turn so that we can continue to evolve the world's most popular practice management software. ### "Split personality software - two steps for the function of one"

June 9, 2020

4.0

Clio allow you to generate bills - take payments online - and has a rudimentary accounting system.

Pros

Clio is quite robust with many functions geared for law offices. Much of the thrust is for multiple lawyer offices ( which makes sense) and some also work for solo firms (my office is a solo office). There is a forms component which is poorly integrated with Clio. It does allow you to create an online fillable form - but the steps to have that information fed into your database for the practice is cumbersome and not intuitive. Yo are using two independent programs - which is unlike both Practicve Panther and My Case. In the other two the feed into the database is direct - no two programs - no multiple steps to move rom one database to another.

Cons

As mentioned, the multiple step s needed to use the forms - and the cost for that portion of the platform - make this a terrible choice. If you want to use forms as questionares and to populate your database - and update the database - by client input - this is definitely NOT the platform to use.

Reason for choosing Clio

I was told the forms were integrated - they are not - and so I will be migrating away again

### "Cio is an excellent choice for law firm practice management software."

September 20, 2022

5.0

Quite frankly, as currently offered, we believe the Clio software is the best value for dollar. In January 2020, we transitioned from a different online practice management software because we felt that it was lacking in features. We used the prior software for more than ten years. The transition was smooth and we have not looked back since. Over the two and a half years we have used Clio, all of our questions have been quickly answered by tech support. The product is first rate!

Pros

Clio offers a full suite of tools to effectively manage our busy family law firm. The developers are regularly adding new features and integrations.

Cons

The current set of features are comparable with all of the major law firm practice management software.

### "Solo Lawyer's Clio Review"

October 28, 2020

5.0

I first experienced Clio as an articling student a couple years ago. I worked with several lawyers, one of which used Clio exclusiveley. I helped this lawyer develop templates for automation of document production and have been hooked since then. Now, I am a sole practitioner, using clio for my own practice. With the introduction of Clio for Clients app, I am even more excited for the future of clio, and tech savy law firms in the digital age.

Pros

Automation. Auto-document production is wonderful. This works great for bills and templates for notice letters, statements of claims etc. I will continue to work on my templates to automate of the firm as possible.

Cons

Ideally, input of information would be more automated. All emails recieved have to be manually entered into the communications tab. I would like for this all to be automated. Give me intake forms that are related to types of matters so I can be sure to gather all necessary information that I require at intake, and not a week after intake when I am opening the file in Clio and realize I do not have their BI adjusters contact info, for example.

Reason for choosing Clio

I use other software in tandem with Clio. PCLaw helps with bookkeeping on my end, which ought to be covered by Clio at some point. Furthermore, I require the use of Teranet and Unity Conveyancer to run my real estate practice. I would like for further integration of these with Clio.

Absolutely awful. I have no intention of working with them and fully intend to tell everyone how bad they are : over promising and under delivering.

Pros

I was sold a bill of goods on the features- come to find out - they can’t deliver on anything they promise. You risk your law license working with these people in my opinion.

Cons

They couldn’t figure out their own system and spent 2.5 months blowing me off while I had to go find a new system. They claimed it was because my EIN and SS-4 were new - therefore I couldn’t take payments on their system for 2.5 months. Funny enough- law pay got me set up immediately. I’m going to get disbarred if I go along with their “whatever- we already got her money” attitude.

### "We have used Clio for a Year and these are my thoughts"

February 14, 2023

5.0

Love it! We can work from home is the weather is bad or if we don't want to come into the office on a weekend to get a few things done.

Pros

Our goal is to be as paper lite as possible. It is easy to enter contacts and case information. They have several webinars to introduce you to Clio and the help section is pretty comprehensive. They respond fairly quickly on the help app and are available for phone calls as well. If you are not used to saving documents to a client file it may take a little getting used to. We save emails to Clio rather than printing them. Our courts are e-filing so we download the file stamped documents into Clio to have available. The global search function is great for conflict checking as it looks at documents, calls, emails, calendar, etc.

Cons

The invoices are hard for our clients to understand sometimes. We have changed the template a bit and are still trying to find a format that is easier for our clients to understand.
