### "A must for a small or medium sized law office"

February 14, 2023

5.0

I implemented Clio in my firm for many years after using other similar software, and Clio is the best. I have recommended many people to use this software.

Pros

Firm calendar function is great - a very important part of our practice. Other features provide good assistance in keeping firm of several attorneys working in the same direction.

Cons

I cannot think of anything that I like least about the product

Reason for choosing Clio

Integration of many features into one, flexibility of calendar functions, price, timekeeping ease

### "Created by lawyers without a bookkeeper's input"

August 11, 2022

2.0

I can't say that I'm overly happy with it as I do all of the invoicing for our law practice and it's really limited as to what it can do from an a/r standpoint.

Pros

It is really easy to use and customer support is usually available.

Cons

Billing, invoicing, and reporting cannot be edited to the level that is needed. Cannot change or remove who notification emails are sent too. Cannot edit invoices to be statements of accounts, nor is there functionality to create a statement of account. Cannot create necessary reports because of limited reporting options. Billing takes forever because of lack of filtering options. Integration with Box is really glitchy and doesn't always transfer client files.

### "Personal Injury Firm Review"

February 24, 2023

4.0

I enjoy Clio. We were able to use it very quickly after signing up - no lengthy set up (Filevine is awful, for instance).

Pros

I like that it's web-based (convenient), recovers deleted files, easy to search and customize.

Cons

I would prefer more reporting options to track time spent by users on overall project types, cases, clients, etc. and run reports on their time entries for periods. I would also prefer if the firm feed was searchable and if you could customize the date range in the firm feed to pull data for specific date ranges, etc.

Reason for choosing Clio

Clio seemed the best.

### "Excellent case management software"

January 23, 2024

5.0

I love Clio!!! I have zero complaints about Clio.

Pros

Clio has changed my practice! The ease of creating documents, logging calls, accessing documents is so easy and intuitive. I can do more in less time.

Cons

I wish I could automate PDFs and not just word docs.

### "Helpful with remote work "

July 25, 2022

4.0

The experience I had with Clio was okay. It does have many things that are helpful and nice to have. We used Clio for remote work and we did successfully manage several cases, but I prefer other software, as does the rest of my firm.

Pros

Clio allows unlimited legal document storage, eliminating the worry of running out of space. Unlike other software, it is made for use with legal cases and legal documents. The specific set up is helpful. Billing and payment processing are supported. Clio helps us stay informed on deadlines and stay organized.

Cons

Some things that are advertised are actually provided by a third party and require additional setup and sometimes additional payments. The legal calendar is not the best I've used and I don't like it.

### "Functional and Interpretive"

December 16, 2022

5.0

We have solved a long-standing problem of legal billing, proper invoicing, and tracking expenses and payments. Despite the occasional frustration with my lack of ability to use all that is available, I am appreciative of the benefits we have received.

Pros

The invoicing, and time calculation for billing are the most important features of the software. I also utilize the client management portion daily, to retrieve contact information for clients, and determine case information.

Cons

The integration portion of the software was a bit troublesome. We are a very small office without technical support, so many of the included features remain under utilized due to our ignorance of the software and how to effectively implement the application with our existing filing system and document storage.

### "Clio is essential to our law office"

June 27, 2019

4.0

We are able to track consultations and potential new clients through Clio Grow, which is new to us. I think our office couldn't function or allow us to do the volume of work we do. It has definitely made a difference in our revenue.

Pros

Clio allows us to input and see everything related to a client's matter in one place, as well as track critical due dates and immigration file numbers. I love everything about Clio Manage and we have also subscribed to Clio Grow which allows us to track new clients and send our fee agreement with a just a few clicks! I also use the Law Pay function that allows for clients to pay quickly and easily, which has resulted in getting paid faster!

Cons

The accounting function could be better and more in line with what PC Law offers.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Clio

Clio seemed to have a stronger support team and the reviews were good. I also tested both and preferred how Clio worked.

### "Clio has changed my law practice"

February 24, 2023

5.0

Pros

I have been using Clio since 2010 and have never looked back.It has transformed my law practice beyond expectations. From case management, to document preparation, time keeping and billing. Communicate with clients right in Clio...Clio is fantastic and lets me focus on practicing law.

Cons

I have no big complaints. The only issue is that billing rates cannot be easily adjusted once a file has set up on an "hourly rate".

### "Clio is a fantastic practice management software!"

May 16, 2017

4.0

Pros

The user interface is intuitive and easy to use. You feel like everything is at your fingertips. This is particularly true if you use the customs matter and client fields to record data you want to have easy access to. As well, Clio's customer support is great and the software is always improving.

Cons

Accounting and bookkeeping needs cannot be fully satisfied by Clio alone. I use Xero in conjunction with Clio and this combination works well, though the export of data from Clio to Xero is not seamless, particularly with respect to trust accounting. That being said, this solution is workable and can be fully compliant with Law Society of Upper Canada bookkeeping requirements. I have been through a spot audit and a full practice review and passed with flying colours. The other main issue I have is that there is nothing in place to warn the user that there is no future court date diarized for a matter that is making its way through the courts. Without this check and balance, there is a risk of missing a court date if you forgot to put a new one in after the last one. The only way to make sure this isn't happening is to manually go through each open matter and confirm that it has a future court date input.

### "Great value, relatively easy leaning curve, responsive to suggestions"

July 3, 2019

5.0

Pros

The thing which surprised me most about Clio is that they made some changes to their user interface a year ago or so and at first some of the forms didn't have the ability to tab through them quickly. I (and I'm sure many others) pointed out the flaw and they fixed it before forcing users to use the new interface. Aside from that, the price is good, it is an easy enough system to learn, and once you get the hang of it data entry and timesheet entries are pretty efficient. Plus it is web based and has a decent appbso you can use it from anywhere.

Cons

The timesheet entry form could still be streamlined a bit better.

Reason for choosing Clio

Online capabilities, cost.

### "Intuitive and user friendly "

August 30, 2023

5.0

Pros

I found clip to be user friendly and intuitive. As a lawyer, I am a fan of tech products which allow me to spend less time worrying about the functionality and more time doing legal work

Cons

A bit expensive for the functionality compared to other practice management tool. The learning curve - as it takes a bit of time to get accustomed to all of Clio's features.

### "Seamless Integration"

December 12, 2023

5.0

Pros

Ease of use; seamless integration with team and other existing products; customer service is incredibly responsive and hepful

Cons

Implementation and sales team disappeared once I signed the contract, and I was left calling regular support like everyone else; really pushed to convert everyone on LawPay to ClioPay without making us expressly aware that ClioPay would not allow us to pass on credit card fees to payees; slower with feedback on some suggested features than I'd like.

### "Clio is a "Can't Live Without It" service for law firms"

November 14, 2019

5.0

Clio has been a game-changer for our law firm. Before my team attended the Clio Cloud Conference, we were probably only using about 10% of the features that Clio offers. Now we're probably using 60% of the features they offer (in time we'll make systems and policies to use more of its features), and it has greatly increased productivity. For example, we use to prepare legal documents the "old way" of using a document from an old, different client case as a "template," and manually changing the document to use in our new/current case. However, Clio's "merge field" and "document template" features allow us to create true templates that have much data (client names, addresses, plaintiff/defendant designations, dates, etc.) automatically filled in, which saved us from needing to hire another full-time team member.

Pros

Clio is great because it is very user-friendly, has many great third-party plugins/integrations, and has a satisfactory smart-phone app.

Cons

Clio lacks some features that would accommodate/improve certain functions of my law firm. However, this is probably to be somewhat expected since every law firm is different, and it's hard for a system to accommodate every possible law firm business model.

### "Clio - not perfect, but a great start"

October 14, 2016

5.0

We've been using Clio for just over a year now in our firm. We've added several new people and consolidated a number of software programs into a much smaller number of programs. The contacts management and documents management features of Clio are not as robust as the other solutions we're using, and we'd like to see some improvements in the contacts system and the ways bills are run and sent. However, the time entry is MUCH easier now, it's overall fairly easy to learn the system and set up new users, and the ability to link contacts to matters is vastly helpful for our conflicts checking (assuming you use it). Clio is not going to magically make your life better; you still have to learn to use it and then make sure it gets used correctly (we have some attorneys here who haven't been as good about that as the staff and some of the other attorneys have been), but it's so worth the effort. And, if you have a problem, their support staff is fantastic. Quick to respond, very helpful and polite, and if they have to tell you that the requested fix isn't available yet they'll at least assure you that it's being put on the list for future improvements. We looked at a lot of practice management solutions, and I think we made the right choice in going with Clio.

Pros

Time tracking is very easy, and it handles multiple matters for the same client very well. Reports are useful, most of them. Tasks and the system allowing you to make records of phone conversations are great. Clio Connect and the ability to share documents with clients and others is fantastic.

Cons

Billing system is clunky; contacts management is only okay at best. It's not a cheap solution.

### "Clio helps me keep track of all the case details, so I can think about my clients"

May 30, 2018

5.0

Clio has cut the time spent entering time and billing by days. We used to keep handwritten timesheets that were consolidated by an assistant into an invoice, then back to attorneys for review before finally being sent out. took days. Billing now takes me minutes

Pros

ease of use; interface; the fact that I can suggest a feature today and see it implemented tomorrow; integrations;

Cons

I would love to see pricing for admins and paralegals; mobile app interface is not intuitive; would love to see interoffice IM feature

### "I Wouldn't Be Able To Run My Law Practice Without It"

July 5, 2018

5.0

Pros

The best feature, which continues to get better with updates, is the client portal to share documents to and from clients. The ability of a client to log in and see their case status, pay their bill and send a message is very important. Using it for credit card processing has also made it much easier for my clients to pay me.

Cons

I would like more integrations with 3rd party software (Infusionsoft comes to mind), but I am hopeful that will come in the future.

### "Great product- easy to use"

December 16, 2022

Very friendly and helpful.

Pros

The software is a great and easy way to electronically have all client information accessible. I enjoy the features of saving all emails to client files as well as the phone app.

Cons

The software doesn’t have many features to customize it for the specific business. I don’t find this to be critical in our small law firm; however, I can see how larger law firms would want this feature.

### "Small firm review - for Clio Manage"

February 14, 2023

5.0

Pros

I love the reporting features - we can get a great grip on most trailing business indicators, and we are working to leverage Clio Grow for lead indicators for our business so we can make better decisions as a firm.

Cons

There are so many features that it feels a little labyrinthine - we have had the software for years and we're just now starting to incorporate it fully for all its intended purposes.

### "Look no further!"

September 9, 2019

5.0

Pros

Clio is everything and more your business will ever need. Super easy to set up and there' s no need for lots of training for users. Very user friendly, but if you do have any questions or problems, the support team is the BEST!

Cons

Clients are sometimes confused when bills are shared. I think the format of the bills could be modified so they're easier for the clients to understand. The one thing I don't like is that when bills are paid using a client's trust account, it doesn't show the remaining balance on the invoice.

### "Innovative Platform that Keeps Pace"

August 24, 2019

Pros

As a firm with multiple locations and highly mobile staff and associates, Clio keeps us together even when we are apart. The Clio tab is always open on our desktops, laptops, and tablets. And the Clio app is a touch away on our phones. Clio has kept pace with our growing firm and is responsive to our evolving needs.

### "I Choose Clio..."

June 4, 2019

5.0

My overall experience with Clio is that I enjoy using the program. I enjoy learning more about the program while using it. It has great potential. We have also joined the Clio Grow family of users. This is also a great program. I love it's features. Both Clio programs are awesome!!

Pros

I have tried several different practice management programs in hopes to find one that actually encompasses every aspect of the legal practices and that supports the office's fundamental needs. I won't name any names but I'd have to say that most of them don't really have the power and flexibility to accommodate a functioning law firm. I like that Clio offers case management in a way that makes it easy to do my job. There are a few little things that I wanted customized to show me additional information about any particular case . I find it easy to navigate around the platform. Easy to add, delete, amend, and all-around organize the important information. The ease of navigation is the best part of the program.

Cons

I don't really like that when you are in the calendar feature and you can scroll down through the calendar dates, or say the contacts screen, it defaults to 50 items in a list, whether it be contacts, calendar dates, or what-have-you. You then have to choose how many more entries you need to go through so you're you want to be. I would love it if there wasn't a limit. It just kept rolling on. The more data you enter, the further down the list it's going to be and the more time consuming it's going to be to find what you are looking for. I wasn't here to enter new matters in, but I would not have done it a much different way. I am not sure whether it can be changed but I'm going to look into it.
