### "CLIO for Efficiency "

March 16, 2024

5.0

Overall I see much more pros than cons. It is absolutely worth the money. I have been able to restructure certain areas of the firm to be more effective and our production has been going up annually since using CLIO.

Pros

Ease of use, e-signing with ease, invoices can be unique to our firm with templates for each client, cleaning up others time entries are simple as admin, and it just overall makes my job more efficient and enjoyable.

Cons

It needs work on adding my state laws and guidelines into the calendar. For example if I have a CT slip and fall case, it would be nice if the calendar prompted me to enter all my scheduling order dates, remind me when discovery is due per statute, etc… also an in office chat feature would be nice too! When we save emails from outlook the organization is not helpful for some attorneys and we cannot edit that. Also we need AI integrations!

### "Clio develops the WIP budget in my company"

August 12, 2023

5.0

Clio is designed for freelance professionals and small businesses. It handles a small portion of complicated cases and handles date management and payment. I think it would be outstanding in a massive class. Clio has more features and seems to be working on constantly improving. I recommended some suggestions for work that I thought would be helpful. Those suggestions went into a black hole, with the insinuation that I would attempt a confluence application of various bugs. Clio is getting quite a bit of money because of the legal experts who use their program.

Pros

All I need to do is turn on Clio in the morning and press the button to start the timing if I feel lazy to casually type a few words. It is possible to see how far behind or ahead of budget I am in terms of jobs, payments and invoicing. There is some repetition (database skills), and he has another colleague to manage the data for him when he is on vacation and doesn't have Clio, but these are minor quibbles.

Cons

This feature is likely to be useful in many people's practices, but I don't use it. Clio must find a way to accommodate all the documents that have a certain name that I can access through Clio. On the contrary, I use Hazel and Dropbox.

### "I highly recommend Clio to any practice"

May 30, 2023

5.0

I have been very happy with Clio. I think it really streamlines everything. I am particularly happy with the billing and invoicing features.

Pros

I like the ease of use. We were able to switch over seamlessly with no issues. We were ready to go on day one of launch. It is intuitive and easy to use. We used our previous software for 20 or more years and we were able to switch over with no issues. Everyone in our practice has been able to transition with no issues.

Cons

The only issue I have with Clio is when using it with Quickbooks, when you create a check in Quickbooks with multiple matters on the payment it ports it over as one expense and you have to then separate it out into the different expenses for each file. It creates a situation where you have to put the entries in twice. I think this is a Quickbooks issue more than a Clio issue, however the problems remains that same.

Reason for choosing Clio

We were being forced to switch from PCLaw and Amicus because they were no longer going to be supporting each other with updates. There were some issues with LEAP's software and the way that we handle practice management that would not have worked for our firm.

### "Clio has changed my business model"

January 23, 2024

4.0

First thing first. Clio's customer and technical support is top notch. They are excellent at getting you started and set up. It only takes a few clicks to get connected to support and once you are connected it is secured using your support code. Clio has helped generate and speed up my intake, processing and document creation dramatically compared to where I was before.

Pros

Having my client information, cases, documents, templates and invoicing under one system is a dream come true.

Cons

I wish Clio had more in-house created integrations with apps versus using services like Zapier to make the connections and send data from apps or services to Clio. Zapier can be very clumsy and if something gets updated in Clio's software you sometimes have to rebuild the Zapier.

It all started with Keap not being able to send text messages anymore. That got me looking at other services. I had watched several videos on Clio a few years back but decided to go the cheaper route with another case management service which ended up not having near as many options inside the system. Clio was the perfect answer to having everything under one roof.

### "Great Product! "

January 23, 2024

5.0

I have used CLIO at two other firms and brought it on to Story Law. Was the best decision we ever made. Saves us administrative time which in turn promotes productivity and profit.

Pros

We love that we have all data, participants, documents, contacts, email/communication journaling, calendaring all in one place. The mobile app is great for on the go use and tracking time when you are away from the office. The client portal is a great tool for tracking what the client has provided and what is still needed. The time Clio saves us in administrative work has been invaluable.

Cons

Mapping with Quick Books does not match up the best. Some of the integrations are still work in progress. No integration with MyPleadings.

### "Solo Practitioner Recommends Clio"

January 23, 2024

5.0

My experience with Clio has been excellent. Although Clio was not intuitive at first, it became so after a few months. The support has been excellent. Also, I have found Clio responsive to suggestions for improvement.

Pros

For a reasonable price, Clio includes a number of useful features in one package: DocuSign capacity, billing, trust accounting, document creation, hourly billing tracking, and of course management of cases and case loads.

Cons

Clio's method of running credit card or ACH fees and then tracking them is a bit frustrating. I do appreciate the fact that the fees are not taken from the trust fund.

Reason for choosing Clio

Clio had the most features packaged together for the best price. Also, Clio has a superior interface to some other options.

### "Clio Review from AWL"

January 24, 2024

5.0

The platforms, both Manage and Grow, are user friendly and I have had a great experience with the software. I like that there aren't rollout after rollout of changes. I enjoy updates and accept them but I like that it's not a weekly occurrence (like Quickbooks). I have recommended Clio to others and will continue to use Clio.

Pros

Overall Clio is very user friendly. My clients who have commented on the use of Clio have had positive feedback as well. I like that there are training videos and customer service has been great the few times I've called. The integration with my Google Workspace and now having their own credit card processing fees is great too! This year I'm utilizing the Dashboard more, both on Manage and Grow and I do like how it works. It helps me stay productive.

Cons

For sections I haven't used as much, I have difficulty finding my way back to them after stumbling upon them. I would like to be able to attach receipts for reimbursable expenses to client's invoices. I would like to be able to mark client matters and/or client invoices as mail only so I know when to print the invoices and mail them to clients.

Alternatives considered

[QuickBooks Online](https://www.capterra.com/p/190778/QuickBooks-Online/)

Reason for choosing Clio

I had Quickbooks at my previous firm and I hated their program. My boss was always on the phone with them because something wasn't working correctly. Every time I went to log time the format had changed. It is expensive. Clio was recommended by both bar associations that I am a member of and the free trial went very well for me.

### "Fallen far from grace"

April 23, 2024

1.0

Awful. They look great at first glance given the supposed breadth of features they have, but when they start removing features without notice or you experience any problem with their software at all, it is all but guaranteed that they will be completely unable to assist and you will be left paying full price for a program that, at best, half works.

Pros

Clio used to have responsive and helpful customer support, but that was years ago! It was once easy to track and link payments to client matters, run useful reports, and handle cloud-based documents, but recently the software has seen nothing but bugs.

Cons

Clio is plagued with bugs and its cloud-based document system stops working entirely every few weeks or so, requiring a complete reinstallation of the desktop launcher. Clio also, without any notice at all, removed certain features that allowed for the linking of card payments from Clio Scheduler (a sister program), retroactively recharacterizing ALL prior card payments in a completely different manner and ruining my firm's entire accounting system overnight. Clio tech support is worthless and is never aware of any issues brought up to them about the software, no matter how debilitating the issue may be, and they endlessly put you on hold to "talk ton their team" while stalling and asking for more screenshots of the issue, only to tell you a week later that they can't help you. The software has fallen far from grace and serves only to be a very expensive patchwork of buggy integrations, paired with tech support that doesn't understand any of the details of their own program.

Pros

### "Couldn't Practice Without It"

January 23, 2024

5.0

I've used Clio for years and couldn't operate my practice without it. As a solo it allows me to manage my firm without needing much extra admin assistance.

Pros

I love how easy Clio makes it to do nearly all of my day-to-day practice management from invoicing to trust accounting. The calendaring / court rules and document automation is also great.

Cons

I didn't love that they increased the processing fee for Clio Payments not very long after I signed up for it. They did agree to freeze the rate for a few months until it goes up, but I was disappointed they increased it in the first place.

### "Over five years with Clio and extremely satisfied"

January 24, 2024

5.0

Overall, I have been extremely pleased with my experience using Clio.

Pros

Clio is intuitive and greatly assists me in managing my firm. The dashboard is organized in such a way that I can easily track overall firm finances and open matters. Additionally, the ability to create tasks and sync Clio with my firm's Microsoft account expands the functionality of the product.

Cons

I really do not have any complaints about Clio. When I attempted to use Clio Grow, I simply did not have the time to create the templates that are designed to make the product more valuable to client intake.

### "Clio has been a game-changer for my practice this year."

December 16, 2022

5.0

Clio has streamlined my practice, and made mobility of case files, information and note taking a breeze. Clio has also saved our office time by use of template forms and letters.

Pros

The easy use of the platform has made client and matter management seamless for our firm. The simple use of formatted templates, integration with apps such as Dropbox and google calendars have made tracking, document creation, and client management much easier.

Cons

As with any new software there is a steep learning curve. Clio did help with some integration of case information, but the creation of templates, custom fields, etc. has been an ongoing project. I would love to see more customization for client names (for example: a couple with two last names), ease for duplication of invoiced time for two matters that share identical information, and ability to add next court date/meeting dates, etc. right into notes box rather than having to do that separately.

### "Living in one database is a productive dream come true!"

December 16, 2022

5.0

I love living in one database. It is wonderful that it links with Outlook and can track all data related to a Matter or Contract, including related contacts. Co-council is a slick feature. My productivity has skyrocketed. Tech support is amazing and available during off hours.

Pros

All the most crucial aspects of my workday are incorporated or linked in one central database. It makes it easy to track everything and invoice it all. Tech support is readily available, well-trained, patient and willing to take and submit suggestions to development.

Cons

I came from a mid-range practice management software and miss some of its features. The timer button should be red and blinking. I tend to leave it running when I get interrupted. I wish it had a spell check. I wish the app version was easier to navigate - it is hard to tell when a timer is running and how to find it to turn it off. Set up is intensive, as it would be with any practice management software. I wish some of the field names were customizable for professional fiduciaries. I wish some of the fields would default w/o having to fill them in. I wish there was more instruction on workflow when setting it up. I did not like the importing of my old data and undid it. The team was too quick and didn't fully understand my wishes or wasn't able to bring in just the data I was requesting. I wish the reporting was better than dumping to Excel.

Reason for choosing Clio

References from other colleagues, price point, company track record, availability of tech support.

### "LONG time customer"

December 16, 2022

5.0

Excellent. incredibly reliable product and I think in the 10 years plus I have used it, its been unavailable due to issues for probably a grand total of 10 minutes.

Pros

The intuitive way the product works. The add on's I have make it even easier to be efficient with the exception of LawYaw which is inferior to HotDocs in my view.

Cons

The expense continues to rise and the add ons make this product not as good of a value as it once was. The add ons provide far better integration of billing and email filing that the clio version and document creation, is expensive and cumbersome

Reason for choosing Clio

See comment above, but basically price and the availability on all my platforms

### "Don't know where we'd be without Clio"

Clio allowed us to get bills out timely and to collect more money than our previous practice management software.

Pros

### "One of the Best"

January 23, 2024

5.0

Pros

I have demo'd a bunch of law practice management software providers, Clio is by far the best. It isn't a perfect system, but it does the job. The two way texting, client portal, and customization are hard to beat.

Cons

Two of my biggest pain points are flat fee payment plans and notes. I would like to see a feature where we could just easily type a quick status that does not need a dedicated note entry. Flat fee payment plans there has to be a better solution than me manually figuring out the payment plan and due dates. MyCase automates this, Clio should be able to figure this out too.

### "Highly recommend"

March 15, 2024

5.0

Very good - any contact I've had with any staff member, from sales to onboarding to support has been excellent.

Pros

I've been using Clio Manage since I started by firm in 2020 and find it to be very responsive to my needs. I've recently also started to use Clio Grow which I hadn't really thought would make a whole lot of difference to me, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I enjoy the interface, the support is good, it does what I need it to. Highly recommend it.

Cons

The initial onboarding was great, but once you're up and running, you're left alone. Fair enough, but I suspect there are features that I could be using and would be beneficial to me, that I don't know about either because they didn't exist when I was onboarded, or I didn't need them initially and I've forgotten they exist. This could be fixed by a 6 month review or 1 year review, but it's not critical. Perhaps for firms with more users/wider range of services, they'd pick this up and follow it up with Clio. It's hard to follow up on something you don't know exists.

Reason for choosing Clio

Price and the fact that it was an approved product by the Law Society of Scotland.

### "Excellent customer service "

August 28, 2023

5.0

Excellent

Pros

Support 'Live' is actually live - always available and always helps! This is important because with other companies you're usually on hold on the phone for a long time and then when the do answer - the take a message and 'refer you to the right team' - you're stuck on your task until they call back. When they call back, the caller tells you what to do but can't show you - that's another team. In my working day - its vital that support is given there an then so you can move on.

Cons

Integrating it and setting up - this is very time consuming. It would be useful to have I suppose when migrating a one2one live support - somebody spends a day at the firm and sorts all this out. Templates, billing everything you need to get started. That would've been rather helpful.

Reason for choosing Clio

Price and functionality - I liked the overall view clio gives compared to other produces. CLIO lets you run your firm whilst other cases focus on running the case itself. The best feature on CLIO however (there are many) but the most useful is the billing - ability to change a bill and see it in that format and add discounts and change without going back into the time record - phenomenal. It helps make billing easier which is what we're all about after all!

Switched from

[LEAP](https://www.capterra.com/p/147413/LEAP/)

Leap is too expensive and doesn't case manage property - tasks etc don't work so well and defo not the calendar. CLIO is more like a birds eye view of the firm and case overall. I l love this about clio.

Pros

### "Easy Peasy"

December 12, 2023

5.0

We really have benefitted from our switch to Clio: we are able to track files better, share calendars better, and invoices don't get forgotten anymore.

Pros

We love the invoicing the most - we are sure we have re-captured getting paid for many files we used to not be able to track and get paid for. Now we can send an invoice online and get paid online too. Making a bill is quick and easy, and our staff even thinks fun!

Cons

We were considering moving our document storage to Clio, but we couldn't preset files with our folder organization system and it seemed more difficult to attach files to emails, so we didn't end up doing this. Also, when sending an email from Clio, I would prefer that it auto-saves it to the Clio file.

### "It Doesn't Get Better Than Clio! "

December 12, 2023

5.0

My experience with CLIO (both the product and the company) has been phenomenal. I have zero complaints. Clio is the foundation of our client management system and is therefore essential to running my organization. Beyond the product itself, Clio's customer service is next level. The staff are friendly, competent, and client-focused. In the several years I have been interacting with Clio staff (in-person and virtually) I have NEVER been treated like a number, dismissed, or ignored. If the representative I am working with cannot address the issue, they hand me off to someone who can. This speaks volumes to the character of the staff and the quality of the company itself.

Pros

What is not to LOVE about Clio? The platform itself is intuitive, efficient, and has become essential to effectively running my organization. Even features that have not been particularly relevant to my practice (non-profit sector) have either already been updated to be more relevant (Clio for Legal Aid) or are in the process of being updated. Beyond the practicalness of the product itself, Clio is a company that is visably devoted to their staff, clients, and mission. Passion for the practice of law is one thing, passion for the humans who choose to practice law is another. Clio's client-centered approach sets them apart from their competition in this regard.

Cons

We have been using an ACCESS Database to process our claims (non-profit sector) for more than two decades. I would love to use the billing/invoice features offered through Clio but, they are not yet granular enough to fully transition us out of ACCESS.

December 12, 2023

5.0

Very positive and I would highly recommend. I use Grow and Manage and would never change to anything else now because these platforms are customisable, easy to use and very comprehensive. I have previously used other platforms and systems but Clio is by far the best on ever my level. Customer support and service is also great.

Pros

It’s easy to use and covers everything I need it to do. From letter/document creation to billing and invoices. Everything is centralised in one place for accurate record and ease of access.

Cons

It’s very time intensive to set up all the features in the manner you need the system to function to align with your business and there’s not really a guided process for this which would be helpful as some of the set up features can be tricky. It would be helpful to be assigned someone when you first sign up and for them to help you actually set things up the way you need them to be. I also can’t link my emails to Clio as my email:outlook was purchased through a third part (Go Daddy) but I was not aware this was going to be a problem so it would have been helpful if that that was clarified from the outset when I first spoke to Clio so I would have known.

Nearly every feature is user intuitive, and I have already been delighted to see Clio continue to upgrade its services in the two years I have used them. I couldn't survive (i.e. stay organized) without all of its features, billing, document e-signature service, and access to its partner, Proof for service of process.

Cons

Initially I was disappointed that Clio Grow and Clio Manage didn't "talk" to one another. I love Clio Grow to keep track of leads and potential clients, and I like the ability to transfer a file over to Clio Manage. I didn't like that they weren't truly in sync. However, Clio has worked to solve that pet peeve and is continuing to make improvements.

Reason for choosing Clio

I was impressed by their sales presentation, the ability to track payments in the trust account and operating account, and it was highly recommended by a colleague I trust. She was not wrong. When another colleague opened her practice next door, I recommended Clio and she also loves it.
