### "Clio Has Grown with Us"

October 25, 2016

4.0

In researching practice management software when opening our mainly-construction based law office 3 years ago, we decided to choose Clio based on reading product reviews and ease of use for new users. Now, 3 years later, we are pleased that Clio has been able to grow with our practice and expand easily to multiple users as we have hired additional attorneys and support staff. While we haven't yet chosen to take advantage of all of Clio's features, we have been pleased as we transition into using specific features based upon our needs. For instance, we utilized Clio Connect in order to send invoices to clients last month for the first time, and as a result, I am actually looking forward to this month's billing cycle as it seems much less daunting and time-consuming! We hope to continue to expand our use of features and Customer Service has been stellar in documenting my suggestions and experiences. We highly recommend Clio to attorneys who are beginning the self-employment journey just as we did 3 years ago.

### "great all-around practice management app"

February 24, 2023

5.0

I have used Clio for several years now and can't imagine life without it.

Pros

I love that Clio is essentially a one-stop shop for all my practice management needs: time tracking, billing, calendaring, etc. I also love its integrations with other apps like LawYaw & Outlook. Clio is quite user-friendly.

Cons

There are some billing features that could use improvement. For example, I don't like how the clients' balances constantly change on invoices already sent out based on payments remitted post-invoice.

### "An Excellent Legal Management Suite"

February 10, 2024

5.0

Overall, it is an excellent produce. Worth the money and energy to get into the program. It covers most the areas I need.

Pros

Ease of use. Functionality. Integration. Yearly upgrades. Excellent customer service. Great resource library.

Cons

It does need some work arounds in some cases. Multi-clients aren't ideal.

Reason for choosing Clio

I tried not to look too closely at the cheapest in the lineup. Clio appears to be widespread and compatible in the marketplace. They do a good job impressing their customers.

### "Small Law Firm Happy to Change Over."

June 15, 2023

5.0

Pros

The training materials available to my staff. I had problems bringing other members of our staff into it. With Clio my legal assistant picks up the features almost intuitively. I need to add more staff but as soon as she can manage and train others in Clio I will switch over. Also the compatibility with Jubilee. I am looking at using Lawyah.

Cons

When I switched from the other system, funds held in trust or credits to clients did not switch over and I had to manually trick the system into putting the credits into the accounts.

Reason for choosing Clio

It took me several months to evaluate a system to change over into. Once I made the move I was happy with the result. My current single staff member was prepped on the advantages of the change to Clio and readily took to it.

### "Clio improves my practice on a daily basis."

February 24, 2023

4.0

Wonderful, and it really has increased productivity and billable hours for everyone in my firm.

Pros

The task assignment, and email reminders are a life saver.

Cons

I wish that there were a few less clicks on some things.

Reason for choosing Clio

Value, and billing options.

### "Great Collaboration "

July 24, 2019

5.0

I had so far a great experience using Clio to document, track time, put notes, Calendar, and pretty much record every single activity in my daily office work. I can't find anything that is not covered by Clio, and we used many different software programs in our office before nothing comprehensive like Clio.

Pros

The most I liked about Clio is the level of detail coverage to almost all the daily office activity we use to do with many different software before. Now its all in one place. From the first time I used it it felt like it was tailored to the law area our firm practicing.

Cons

The only take on Clio is the billing options, don't get me wrong on this one, Clio is great on billing, it just when your firm have several trust and operating accounts Clio will fill short covering it all. And they working on addressing this issue recently.

### "So glad I chose Clio "

February 24, 2023

5.0

Efficiencies

Pros

Clio is for the most part intuitive. If I have questions, I get prompt and solid options or answers from Clio Support. The onboarding was slick.

Cons

Additional template forms would be powerful. Ability to send bills from the app. The app is a bit clunky.

### "Basic and easy "

January 18, 2018

3.0

Pros

It's easy and intuitive for staff to figure out. Because it's built for lawyers, it seems like there's very little training time involved. Their customer support is also outstanding.

Cons

Clio promotes a few features that really aren't very useful. Document automation is really just mail merge. Tasks aren't very easy to use without comments. Notes are just a little text box on the page, without any sort of saving, formatting, or any other features that a lawyer would need when actually taking notes. I wish they spent less money on marketing and advertising, and more on product development. For the price, it's about 30% of my monthly technology spend. But it's nowhere near that in terms of value. I got much more value out of other software products.

### "New Firm User"

November 15, 2022

5.0

So far, it has been a great experience. Also allows storage of files in the cloud to help with malpractice requirements.

Pros

This software has helped launch my law practice. It allows for client pipeline tracking, tasks for follow up, automated tasks lists according to type of case, and online intake integrated with my website.

Cons

I am still inputting documents to use as templates and figuring out the best and easiest way to make that part more efficient. Support staff have been amazingly helpful!

### "This is so much easier than every other practice management/billing software I've used in 20 years."

October 17, 2017

4.0

Pros

1) Very easy to use; 2) can access from anywhere; 3) no learning curve; 4) easy to set up; 5) easily customizable and layout/setup changes can be quickly made and reversed with no negative effects; 6) integrates with our accounting software; 7) customer feedback directly effects changes in the software; 8) every part of our practice can be integrated into Clio to allow us to work from literally anywhere that has an internet connection, enabling freedom to leave the office without carrying bulky paper files or worrying about our VPN connection.

Cons

Let me preface by saying that I know there are many improvements being made in the software at this moment, which I will expect will fix my complaint. I really wish the reporting options gave more freedom and flexibility. There are custom reports that I wish that I could run as well as running some available reports with different sort or filter parameters. Currently, I have to run dozens of the same report using the filters allowed to get a couple pieces of data off of the last line of a 25+ page report.

### "Great CRM for Solo Practioner"

November 30, 2022

5.0

Very satisfied. I have already recommended to other attorneys. I've been surprised to learn many in my area already have it!

Pros

I've had the program for about 1 month now. I'm still learning it but I am very satisfied with Clio. It is user-friendly. They are available for Customer Service, evening after hours. Finally, they have a plethora of videos to walk you through what you need to know. It's making my new practice very efficient!

Cons

I wish there were basic templates or automated documents available. As a new firm owner, there are a lot of forms needed for clients or case management. Having to create these documents are time consuming. Also, I wish there were automatic custom fields for opposing counsel. For those of us in litigation, it would expedite learning Clio if we did not have to create fields for opposing counsel(s).

### "Clio"

July 24, 2019

5.0

Pros

It's very easy to use, intuitive and powerful. Billing is easy, takes me less an an hour at the end of each month to prepare and send out bills. The reports are useful and help track money coming in and bills that are due. We don't use many of the features, but still the cost is quite reasonable given what it does for us. It's a great benefit to our practice.

Cons

There are a few things it should do that it doesn't. It does not suggest auto correct words for typos. It will not correct two capital letters at the beginning of a word. These are basic word processing tools that should be easy to implement. There used to be an option to close a file when a bill is paid, but that was either omitted or well hidden in the last update. It adds a subfolder to my directory for each new matter, but the name of the folder is the client name; it would be much better to use the matter name (the master folder is already the client name). Minor complaints to be sure, but features that would be very useful.

There are ways in which it can be improved, but all in all, Clio makes our firm run better.

### "Clio is the core of my practice"

January 20, 2023

5.0

Clio, with Clio Grow, has saved me countless hours by streamlining client intake (engagement agreement signing automation) billing and receiving payments.

Pros

Clio (plus Clio Grow) has all the features I need to run a solo practice. From intake to time tracking, to billing, Clio does everything I want in practice management. It even automatically applies online payments to invoices. Their customer service has also been wonderful.

Cons

Recently, Clio added invoice email templates and its own payment system. This update actually solved my only complaints about Clio.

### "Clio for the win"

February 24, 2023

5.0

I would recommend Clio to others. I researched other practice management systems and Clio is very user-friendly.

Pros

Clio Suite is an all-inclusive product that has assisted my firm from start to finish with client files. Clio also integrates other business functions to make it smooth.

Cons

It would be nice to have manage and grow all in one area. Having to switch back and forth between the two, or having two tabs open is annoying at times.

### "Love/Hate Relationship"

August 21, 2022

4.0

Good and bad. LawPay has recently purchased MyCase. If they are successful with integrating MyCase with their payment system, we likely will make a switch just to see how it goes. That says a lot about our current satisfaction with Clio - that we're willing to invest significant time moving platforms on the hope of finding something better managed. Clio is an excellent product, with great customer support, but the tech team doesn't appear to be ready for prime time.

Pros

Customer Support is responsive and helpful, and product team consistently tries to improve the software by adding new features.

Cons

Backend tech team fails to thoroughly test functionality prior to releasing new features or updating current features. Clio then relies on its customers to "trouble shoot" the new problems, even when they can duplicate the problem on their end. This shows a complete lack of respect for the customer's time. The new Clio Scheduler has significant recurring problems. Clio doesn't appear to be aware of the problems until a customer points it out.

### "Thoughtful feedback on Clio Manage/Grow"

February 24, 2023

4.0

Overall, it's a quality product that we hope continues to improve upon itself. There's many things it can do better but there are many more things it's doing better than most other SaaS enterprises.

Pros

The billing features to clients are efficient and easy to use.

Cons

The AAPI's do not exist on Clio Grow making it difficult for them to speak to one another and update information real-time and automatically.

### "EFFICIENCIES that FACILITATE LIFE "

July 26, 2019

5.0

Here's a huge benefit/hack that I've appreciated using CLIO for: I make Matters (case files) for things that aren't actually cases: one for "personal", several for boards and committees I'm on, and even my business (GIRL ATTORNEY, LLC), and related projects (GALCON). I use the software in all the same ways: creating and relating contacts, keeping track of communication, creating task lists, etc... I really hub my whole life out of the CLOUD-BASED software, and this EFFICIENCY substantively facilitates my LIFE: law firm, personal life, business. I'm a huge fan.

Pros

The ability to manage case and contact communication is SO NIMBLE, it makes it so easy to keep up and pick up where you left off with professionals from other matters/cases. That kind of seamless connectivity is important, allowing me to leverage professional relationships already forged/earned...but otherwise forgotten under the volume of the work (and the passage of time!).

Cons

I still haven't found an easy-enough (for me) way to be sure that I am using the software in as many ways as I could. I am mindful that I am under-utilizing it.

Reason for choosing Clio

I liked the set up (visually) of CLIO better, and felt that it offered more of what I was looking for in case management software.

### "User Friendly "

September 26, 2019

5.0

It keeps us very organized and on top of our clients. I am still learning the billing aspect of the program but it has been extremely helpful when answering clients questions. There are still so many features of the program I have yet to learn but it only grows us stronger as a company.

Pros

The Calendar is a lifesaver! I love that we can attach the case number and keep track of when the hearings are scheduled by looking up the clients name and calendar. Also being able to attach a matter to other contacts saves a lot of time.

Cons

The billing is hard to understand for our clients. We have attempted many different features to explain the bills that are mailed out but clients have a hard time understanding what part is the bill that they owe and what they have in their trust. We are still working out the kinks. Also with our Non-billable court appointed cases we often need to put in different billing amounts for the same attorney but that option is not available. For example In Court pays different the Out of Court. We can only bill at one rate. I also would like it if I could select multiple people for an event on the calendar other than just one person and the firm.

### "Would Recommend to any size firm"

May 30, 2021

mostly great with a few noted exceptions. As with all things you have to learn to ise it but its a worthwhile investment of time and money.

Pros

Most features are easy to use calendar, works perfectly and syncs both ways with my phone, billing and credit card processing are great with one exception (see cons). Client notes an document management is really nice.

Cons

Email import to a clienrs electronic file is either is too many steps or I don’t know how to set it up well. Biggest complaint about Clio; when a client hands you a credit card and you charge their card and apply it to their invoice, its a day or two before you can print out a recipe to hand to them. Thats not how businesses do business with people. you charge their card, they rightly expect a receipt. They don’t care about the money funding to your bank.

### "Time and money saving practice management"

April 10, 2020

5.0

Pros

Clio is a comprehensive, easy to use practice management tool. Timekeeping is simple and accurate; billing is too. All my client data is kept clear and complete, easy to access. Tasks lists and calendaring help me meet deadlines. I've occasionally needed help to figure out how to use a particular tool ; client support is fantastic. Quick response time and good follow-up.

Cons

Billing by the house is easy and intuitive. Flat-rate billing is a little more work. Also, in the rare instance where a client does not pay a bill, or any portion of it, I cannot create a new bill that shows the past due balance unless I am billing for new time. I have to send a "statement of accounts," which is a little more convoluted.

Switched from

### "Easy to set up"

February 24, 2023

3.0

Overall, the product is very user friendly. The price point is amazing and the features are perfect for me as a solo practitioner.

Pros

I like that it is inexpensive and fairly easy to use. I like that I can directly file my emails into the matter file. I love that I can use my ScanSnap to scan directly to Clio.

Cons

I would love to be able to export reports to an Excel spreadsheet and/or to be able to quickly access a numbered report of current open cases. I would like to be able to add someone as a user to be allowed access and run reports without paying for the entire separate license. It would be much easier for support staff (if and when I get them) to assist me with client communication and processing mail.

### "Best Practice Management Cloud Program!"

April 30, 2018

5.0

fast use and ease of use and able to access anywhere since Cloud based. I love the Clio app on my phone and how I can access everything I need to for communicating with clients while out of the office or billing while out of the office from my Clio app.

Pros

The seamless integration with Xero is outstanding. The conversion process from PCLAW (after using such for 20 years) was easy and the integration team over delivered. I went paperless and Cloud based a year ago and would not have been able to do it without Clio and their team. Their staff is easy to reach and always answers our questions quickly and teaches us what we need to do and know.

Cons

I know that they are working on the trust integration with Xero accounting and I'm willing to be patient, but I'd like full trust capability in Clio e.g. reporting and without any double entry into Xero and then Clio. There are some new features with this that I have noticed and am happy so far.
