Pros Excellent help features on every page. Easy to contact support team if needs arise. I also appreciate the helpful bidding sheets that print directly from the software. Cons The software requires the administrator to process credit cards individually after the auction has closed, which takes quite a lot of time. We are a small school with a small staff and volunteer gala team. School Auction Net is affordable, easy to use and meets our needs for managing ticket sale information, a silent auction, and a raise the paddle (aka fund a need). Customer service has been very responsive. The only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars in all areas is that we run a fairly traditional operation (no online bidding and we print thank you letters and receipts, for example) and School Auction Net seems even stronger for those who want to do more electronically (e.g. email receipts, online and mobile bidding). Perhaps one day we will have time and it will make sense for us to add some of those features - and then we can comment on the full range of School Auction Net. Volunteer Used the software for: ### "Vastly simplified our very complex event!" March 24, 2015 5.0 We've been using SchoolAuction.net for about 5 years now. In the old days we used to pass spreadsheets around between members of our team, and everyone insisted on having their own version of the spreadsheet because they each needed different bits of information. We had to keep merging files together and sending information to our webmaster so he could manually keep the list of items on the website up to date. We finally decided to invest in some real auction management software, and SchoolAuction.net has vastly improve our whole auction workflow. It gives our volunteers centralized access to all information about donors, donations, ticketed guests and so forth - so anyone on the team can always find out the latest status of anything, or go in and update it. The online auction feature has also been great - after the actual event it's neat to be able to have a "fire sale" and give people another chance to snag unclaimed items. The support is excellent. Our primary contact person is always very responsive, and when we submit a question or problem to the support team we always get a response right away and it answers the question or fixes the problem quickly. The online documentation and videos are great. Any time we have a question, we can find a clear description of the answer in the documentation. Our volunteers go into the event with much more confidence after watching some helpful videos about what they'll be doing at the event. I recommend SchoolAuction.net very highly! The fact that we can store credit card info securely makes us be able to dictate when we close out. The biggest headache of an auction is when people want to leave early, before the auction is over. With this software, we can tell them they can leave (without their winnings) and either later that night or the following day, we can process all payments. Pros I have chaired auctions for our school before using this software and since using this software. Never again would I use anything else. I love the fact that it is web-based, multi-user functionality and works with tablets and phones. Cons The price tag is a little steep for our tiny little school. I used this for 5 different event projects. Pros NO performance fees. Watch out for other vendors- their performance and Gateway fees are extremely high. I love that I can select my own Gateway with the best rates. The tech support is excellent. Fairly easy to learn and easy to use overall. Great tutorials. We have done silent auctions with paper bids, silent auctions with online bids, and now a live auction virtually. The fund-a-need online was great and everyone enjoyed seeing their heart with their name and amount. Setting up the site is fairly easy and the migrate function for future events is amazing. Cons There were some things that would have been nice to have integrated into the system, like showing slides during the event without having to share a screen. Intuitive Interface - I was a solo catalog manager this year, and it was pretty amazing to be able to step in and get it all done without a lot of time wasted trying to figure out new software. Also, I had a new team of CheckIn/CheckOut people - new to the software and to the volunteer roll - we had NO LINEUPS! because everything went very smoothly on the way in and out. Cons I would have loved it if the documents were all available in both word and pdf format. I needed to do a bit of editing and ended up having to recreate a bunch of my documents from scratch. You can sell tickets to your event, easily upload auction items, check in your guests on the night of the event, checkout is a breeze and they have every report you need to see where you're at with your auction. Pros We can sell tickets to our event on this site, track who purchased which auction item, the checkout process is easy, we can print bidding cards with guests names on them, it's easy to add auction items into the software...it's just a pretty user friendly site. Pros Having used SchoolAuction.net two times over the past 3 years (our auction is every other year) I can't say enough positive things about the system and the support available. The registration and auction set up is very easy to create and manage, the timelines and email reminders are essential to staying on track and the online auction feature helped us raise even more more $$ after the actual auction date. We had multiple users entering data into the system (many who were very new to this type of tool and they were up and running with 20 minutes of training!) If you are planning an auction and have not considered using an online auction management tool, I urge you to think again and definitely look at using SchoolAuction.net. Cons At first, the system may seem overwhelming because it is so powerful and able to do so many things but don't let that stop you. Pros Easy to setup with the ability to bring over past donors and payment gateway information from past events, excellent support, reliable performance, helpful reports and the ability to easily contact winning bidders with a follow-up email. Cons Improvement to the winning bidder's confirmation email is needed to clearly inform the person where and when their item must be picked up. Used the software for: ### "Great first-time experience" October 16, 2013 4.0 We settled on schoolauction.net only a few weeks before a huge event. Thank goodness it was simple enough that we were able to get it up and running and test the software with days to spare. Between the super-responsive support staff (thank you, a thousand times) and the excellent documentation and how-tos, I never felt lost at sea, which means quite a lot considering it was my first time with the software, and my first time being involved in a live auction. We used credit card vaulting to make check out smoother, and I'm so glad we did. It was fast and painless (save for a few instances where guests gave a nickname at check-in or check out - we had trouble finding them). Overall, we got exactly what we wanted from the software, and didn't have to pay for any extra bells and whistles we didn't need. All of us felt like it was a great value. I learned a lot from this experience - if we have another event with an auction I would definitely want to use SA.net again, and I'm sure it would be even better. Our parents loved the phone check-out system and it put less pressure on our check-out team and alleviated lines at the end. The credit card set-up was a bit confusing but in the end it worked great. Pros speed of system and ability for all my team members to access and edit the parts they are responsible for - and everything doesn't have to go thru my hands to get done! Cons It is very hard for the pick up team to know when the calling team has secured a donation. The pickup team has to keep checking thru all the potential donors every day since there isn't a mechanism to see updates and notes on who to ask for etc. because it all goes into the donors regular info instead of a place to put info just pertaining to that year. You can try it out for free and so can your decision making team.... See how it works, it is so easy to use, everyone will be hooked. Procurement team, sales team, accounting team, chair.... There are goodies for everyone. It is a screaming deal. Pros superior product, it does everything you can think of, and some things you haven't. The online auction feature allows you to sell odds and ends, and it raises enough to more than pay for the software itself. It generates reports, receipts, thank you letters... You name it. It is cheaper than other products and the customer service is incredible. If I sound like a fan, it is bc I have labored for 20 years as an auction chair with terrible databases that frustrated me at every turn. This is the answer to that. No contract, so love it or leave it.... Quite nice, everyone I know is either using this or suffering thru the last year on their contract with AP. Cons Really none. " August 8, 2017 5.0 Pros This software is very user friendly and has great help sites and customer service. Set up is fairly straight forward and if you use it multiple years it allows for migrating data which greatly reduces set up time in consecutive years. We love the self-check in and check out options as it greatly reduces lines at the event. The online auction option is a nice tool and is very easy to navigate. Running credit cards and making transactions is very easy as is returning items and making changes to a transaction. It has been a great addition to our auction experience. Cons It has a mail merge option but is hard to customize and prints as one long document. Hard to eliminate duplicates or unwanted merges.
