December 21, 2018 3.0 Pros A few of our customers have asked to use Telpay in our Canadian market for sending payments and its worked well. Cons We don't use it for the majority of our customers so when a payment comes in it is a manual process as opposed to the automatic postings with most of our clients. Review Source VM Virginia M. Director of Finance Wholesale Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great for payments going into the USA!" December 11, 2020 3.0 Overall it has been a good experience with Telpay. Their customer service is great and you know that they will get back to you via email within the same day if there is an issue. Right now during COVID its difficult to get someone on the phone when you call, however they are very good at calling back! Pros This software is very simple to use and is very inexpensive. You enter the data, meet the deadlines for payment release and it handles the rest. We had been using this for both CAD and USD payments, for many years until we switched to a cloud based accounting system and now only use this for USD payments. The price for USD payments is extremely competitive and I have not been able to find a better pricing structure. Cons Features that I would like to see improved is to make this a cloud based technology rather than desktop software. It would also be great if improvements to coding could be made to increase the ease of sync between the new accounting software in the market today that are all cloud based. It still remains to be a fairly manual process to release payments, however since the pricing remains so good, that outweighs the manual process for the few USD payments that we release. Alternatives considered [Plooto](https://www.capterra.com/p/225025/Plooto/) Reason for choosing TelPay for Business We use Plooto for our CAD payments only because it syncs with our accounting software. Plooto is very expensive for USD payments going into the USA and therefore I would not use them for these payments. All of our US dollar payments are sent using Telpay. The primary concern with any electronic payment service is security. Rest assured, we've found Telpay to be the most organized and secure Canadian electronic payment service around. Their tech support and customer service is also quick to respond and eager to help whenever necessary. Cons Telpay's interface is a little outdated as compared to its competition and could use an overhaul. That being said, it works perfectly well and sometimes that's all you really need! Operations Manager Insurance Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Makes payroll easy" February 6, 2019 5.0 We were doing manual cheques for the longest time, then once our staff grew to 20 knew we had to come up with a new way - Pros It's a very basic process, nice and simple - upload the file, verify a few things, then submit. It allows you to delete if you need to, should you find there is an error. If there is a minor difference in the amount you've submitted, vs the amount you have on the account they send you validation that there is a credit balance for future. Cons Once you've submitted a file, you can't make changes to it. While this understandable, would be nice to be able to make a minor change to an account number. Review Source DB David B. Pros The customer support is amazing. They are always available, and quick to help. The support team is second to non. Telpay for Business allows small businesses to provide electronic payment services at a reasonable price. Cons The setup process is a bit of a chore. Also, we've experienced some issues when running the Telpay software in a server environment. Pros Very user friendly, we need the option for remote approval from authorized signing officers, and they offered this feature. This software worked very well for our needs and with the Credit Union we do business with. Cons It does require some planning when you used the payroll module and you have to take into account transmission times being disrupted by paid holidays. Review Source DH Daniel H. December 16, 2020 4.0 Pros The ability to process payments directly to vendors without requiring a cheque. Reduces time spent writing a cheque and mailing it. Cons The layout is very outdated. Unable to upload invoice documents. Must manually type out the date, invoice, and payment amount. Would be nice if it could integrate with an accounting software such as Quickbooks Online. A real lifesaver at times. Pros Integrated nicely with online banking to allow us (and may customer we recommended to) to pay tax payments. Cut down on late payment significantly. Cons It can be hard to get buy in from clients when they have to pay fees so they lower those are the better.
