Pros: Flexibility, Easy user interface, 3-D Model creation is real-time. Outside of the software the customer support is AMAZING. They always help answer any questions you have as quickly as possible.

Cons: Some output is difficult to obtain without using a combination of Flexscript and model documentation.

Overall: We are able to easily show the benefits of setting up production lines in flow using our single-piece flow initiatives. Also, this software allows us to find the optimal solution for any system regardless of the complexity.

Pros: The animation features and functionality of FlexsimHC were very helpful for the project that we needed to test different scenarios for capacity analysis and scheduling of key resources.

Cons: My grad student was creating a simulation model for a med/surg unit using FlexsimHC. There were some hidden bugs causing the problems of simulation runs and the tech support was not able to help fix...

Overall: Animation feature of the software was a good help when making presentations to healthcare professionals who don't know much about computer simulation.

Thank you for the feedback, Gary! We love hearing about situations where 3D simulation bridged the analytics gap for individuals without a deep technical background. I'm sorry to hear that you and your student ran into some issues. Could we connect offline and discuss?

Great software with that lives up to its name of "flex"able and easy to use.

Pros: Can apply to many different processes or types of operations. Great for showing manual and automation processes that work together. Easy to use and train new users on the software. The flexibility of the software has allowed me to show automated processes with manual processes, part movement, and part flow all at the same time. Ability to show how things interrelate on a larger scale.

Cons: Would like to see more drop and drag pre-coding for different types of machining processes. The software is easy to adapt to a wide range of processes and simulate the movement of product however it would be a good feature to have some pre-loaded or base processes to select from and build off of.

Pros: Built-in 3D modeling allows quick project set up. The addition of process flow is a powerful tool that helps me follow the logic of a complex model and quickly debug issues.

Cons: The transition from 3D modeling to process flow was not supported well with documentation or examples. There's still a lot of coding involved in using the software at a more powerful level.

Overall: Designing a system before quoting a solution to a customer and using it to present a visual representation of the system during the quoting process.

Pros: Can model very complex systems with great detail. Visually and statistically impressive. Especially for those with any programming experience, relatively easy to start with basics and add layers of complexity.

Cons: Can be very time-consuming as you create more complicated scenarios. Often spend most time troubleshooting errors.

Pros: Ease of use, Tech support

Cons: Some bugs - conveyor, decision point bugs

Overall: I have always been bad at software and for the first time I feel I can model something with ease. The tech support is great. Our reps are super helpful I talk to them very regularly and they clarify a lot of questions that make users learn a lot. Correcting a few bugs like conveyor bugs might be helpful because sometimes we end up rebuilding the model because we cannot tell whats going on.

Comments: There are several good discrete event tools in the marketplace. Most are quite powerful, but I find that FlexSim has them beat in terms of graphics, ease of use, and adoption/learning curve. After all, what's the point of expensive shelfware?

Also, I've found the Flexsim office to be quite willing to negotiate and find creative pricing solutions to meet a client's budget. That's pretty rare.
