User friendly and easy to understand available options as well as output interpretation. Pros A software package with a wide range of options for statistical analysis, quality control, GR&R, DOE, process development and many other applications. Cons There is low or no control on graphical views and data visualization especially when there are many data sets and you would like to visually compare them (for example change the transparency of various sections in a graph). No live updates on results. You need to repeat analyses again after you change used parameters. Cons Expensive and what you see is what you get. Other stat tools have transitioned to have webinars or helpful customer support for those hard questions. Cons Minitab presents challenges with its steep learning curve requiring adherence to tutorials for proficiency. Data visualizations are basic and are limited for customization. In addition, it lacks an open-source code platform for custom tool development which could be advantageous for research sector. Most importantly, in commercial domain, inadequate integration to common visualization software and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) diminishes the utility of Minitab. Pros Minitab has a broad scope of capabilities making it powerful for many different data analysis applications. The multitude of graphs available in Minitab make it easier to identify trends and patterns in your data without having to rely entirely on p-value. If you see something that looks like a trend you can dig into it further. Cons The cost of Minitab is prohibitive for my small business. As a mechanical engineer of disposable devices I used it regularly at large medical device manufacturing companies. Minitab would be highly valuable to my small business but we simply cannot afford the license. Such confidence is instilled in our continuous improvement initiatives with the software’s reliability to handle large datasets and produce accurate results. Pros Minitab's Assistant feature distinguishes it for taking the statistical analysis by the hand to depict non-stats folk exactly what to do, step by step, for often involved statistical concepts. This is especially useful in a production environment where engineers might have little statistical background. Minitab has another distinctive feature, namely a powerful Design of Experiments (DOE) kit. Cons Minitab does a great job with the statistical analysis but could do better with data visualization. Better communication of complex findings to less knowledgeable users, such as customers or managers, would be more customizable and interactive charts. Switched from [IBM SPSS Statistics](https://www.capterra.com/p/250819/IBM-SPSS-Statistics/) We switched to Minitab from SPSS, which we had been using for several years. Project layout and tool selection was not intuitive for me. Changes in Minitab software and or changes in licensing occurred during project. Pros The general awareness of Minitab capabilities (solution center). Licensing is difficult but maybe on our side. Cons Interpreting the results. Statical training for me was greater than 6 months before project start. I actually used non-Minitab AI to help me interpret the results for me and then included summaries in my final report. Senior Statistician Medical Devices Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "A unique talent in statistics" February 28, 2025 5.0 I used Minitab when performing analyses related to hypothesis testing, regression analysis, variance analysis, reliability analysis and quality control processes. I can say that when I compare it with SPSS and other software, Minitab has a stronger performance, especially in quality control analysis. Also, Minitab has superior graphics and visualization capabilities. Most importantly, it offers easy integration with other software so everything becomes easier for us. Finally, I would like to point out that based on my experience, Minitab is extremely good in terms of performance and usability.
