That being said, after the buyout by Intuit, it has been downhill ever since. So many charges and multiple systems that don't work. Intuit should have stayed in their lane, all they did was break a system that WAS great. 14 years of data will need to be migrated to another system. Good thing I know what I'm doing, but i feel bad for so many small companies who have a tough time migrating data to new systems and get stuck with MailChimp. Pros It is a cheaper alternative to use compared to setting up hubspot. It easy to crate email campaigns and send but anything more complicated or on a large scale, it struggles. Cons It is not good at filtering or cleansing data. it does not even make it easy to ensure your data is cleansed or captured correctly in the first place. It has very limited stats and insights and only segments by audience so it is very difficult to do any side by side comparisons. It has lots of bugs in the designs and previews don't reflect what you have built. The Pro features that come with the paid plans are worth it as well, especially for crucial marketing periods during the fiscal year. Pros We used to send out marketing emails manually, batch by batch, divide and conquer among our staff. Using MailChimp saved us a lot of time and effort by allowing us to automate the sending of emails, and even track the effectiveness of the content and automate some scripted replies. Another thing I liked the most is that MailChimp provides 15 templates to start with (instead of having to build from scratch). For beginners and those who are hesistant, the Forever Free Plan allows you to have up to 2,500 subscribers and to send out up to 12,000 emails/month. That's quite a lot already especially for small businesses. To reach out to a bigger audience, you may want to consider the paid plans. Sales and Marketing team will love its reporting tool to see the effectiveness of your campaign and email interaction from your target audience. It is also integrable to third-party apps and e-commerce platforms. Cons The template automations are great, but for more complex marketing workflows, we really had a difficult time (maybe because our correspondence is rather too complex and multi-step). There is a lot to do to get this launched for your small business. Once you take the time to set things up, you will be able to send professional looking campaigns. Everything costs more. Once you grow comfortable with the system and send a few campaigns out, if you're looking to optimize data you'll see the cost is real. Some of our families wanted to have two caregivers per family receive emails and the reality is many companies may only allow one per family because of the monthly cost to the business when you double your email sending list. I know that Mailchimp is capable of doing soooo much more than what I use it for. If I were more technically inclined, I am sure I would utilize it more fully. I would take more advantage of things like automations. Pros I like Mailchimp for the ease of creating newsletters. The interface is quite easy to use, even for beginners, and I like that I can see my drafts in both PC and mobile view, to make sure something doesn't get wonky on mobile. I like that Mailchimp integrates easily with Wordpress, and they make it so easy that even I can understand it. I also like the analytics. They are easy to understand and don't get overcomplicated. It takes just a quick look to see my open rates and click-throughs. Cons I get confused by the terminology used for the lists, or audiences as they now call them. In other similar apps, I am able to attach several different lists to one email. In Mailchimp, they want you to have one list with segments and tags, etc. and I find it time-consuming and confusing. Not enough templates to work with. And the ones they have have been there for a long time. Time to refresh! I don't like the lack of customer service available if you don't have a more premium account. No one really has the time to wait 24 hours or more for an answer to a question.
