### "Perfect For Beginners, Great E-Commerce Integration, Super Simple, Awesome Support"

March 23, 2018

4.0

Pros

If you ever thought about email marketing, there is hardly any chance you didn't hear about Mailchimp. It seems to be the go to solution for anybody just starting out with email marketing. What's great is that even in the completely free version you can send newsletters, send automated emails like order confirmations, abandoned cart reminders etc. with lots of integrations to existing e-commerce software. The interface is very simple to use and its built-in drag and drop editor is very flexible as well with lots of predefined elements to choose from. There is built in Google Analytics integration together with numerous other tools from Facebook to Pipedrive, so you can use your mailing list to create custom audiences on FB or sync them with your preferred CRM version to send mass mailings to your customers. What's also nice is the agency feature that allows you to manage multiple accounts under one roof. This is especially useful if you have customers with existing Mailchimp accounts that want to invite you to their existing account.

Cons

MailChimp is fine and dandy if you're a beginner, but it's not the best choice for serious online marketers. There are lots of automation to choose from such as auto-responders, triggered e-mails if a specific action occurs, but the automation is completely independent of each other. Creating complex automation like "send this email to subscribers from this list, but only if they met criteria X and didn't receive email Y from 2 weeks ago already" is just impossible to implement. Apart from that, the automation that is possible to do can become quite confusing if you have lots of them. A visual representation in the form of a flowchart would be extremely helpful. Other email marketing software like Active Campaign does a much better job at this. Apart from that, the pricing is hard to grasp for a month? What if you're somewhere in between and need more features, but aren't able to make it.

### "Mailchimp"

August 4, 2022

4.0

Overall, Mailchimp has been a mixed bag. Yes, you can craft emails quickly. But many users will be confused with the way things are laid out and named. Do I want a "Customer Journey"? A "Campaign"? Or an "Automation". I can get Mailchimp to do basic email tasks, but feel like I will leave it soon for something simpler.

Pros

Mailchimp offers a clean, simple interface to help users get up and running with email campaigns quickly.

Cons

The Mailchimp interface—especially the HTML email editor—can be very frustrating to use, especially when combined with Mailchimp's confusing "tech" terminology.

### "Checks all the boxes"

July 5, 2023

4.0

We use it periodically throughout the year and have been very pleased with it. I hear that internal people aren't receiving the emails but it shows 'opened' in the database. So I don't know what the issue is.

Pros

Mailchimp was new to me a few years ago, I had used a different software in the past, but it was very user-friendly and easy to use. Had a couple of questions but the online database answered them.

Cons

It's kind of expensive. We have a large database that is fed by the website but we aren't reaching out to them all the time so the cost continues to increase. It's our fault for not using it correctly but the cost is a bit much.

Reason for choosing Mailchimp

My designer was familiar with mailchimp so we went with what he knew.

### "Easy to use and great for starting"

July 31, 2023

4.0

I think that Mailchimp is a good email marketing system to start with, which also gives the possibility to integrate to other systems if the need to do so should arise. This makes it a good product to start with, while for example growing a business.

Pros

Mailchimp is really easy to use and very intuitive. I would say for someone starting their business or someone with a small number of subscribers this is a go to-product in the beginning. Many CRM systems and other CMS systems offer integrations to Mailchimp which makes it easier to add on other functions.

Cons

It’s a bit expensive when you have a large number of subscribers.

### "Good, but could be great."

March 17, 2020

4.0

Overall this is a good beginner Email Marketing Platform.

Pros

What I like most about Mailchimp are its easy-to-use features. Mailchimp is a little more expensive than other Email Marketing Platforms (they charge based on the size of your list) so that's something to consider. The automation and segmentation features are rather basic, so if you plan to implement a more robust automated campaign or you're looking for ways to incorporate other marketing channels like social media or PPC than Mailchimp falls short.

Cons

Mailchimp offers pretty limited and basic training or tutorial videos. What they do offer isn't really much help to Digital Marketing professionals. Additionally, Mailchimp's support is HORRIBLE!

### "Mailchimp is the end all be all..."

December 5, 2019

5.0

Mailchimp has allowed me to not only grow both my business' engaged clientele base, but also fans of my music and label! It's also allowed me to provide campaigns and reporting for my clients that are easy to understand and digest. With just social, it can be hard to cut through the saturation, but with email marketing, you're going directly to your Interested audience and able to create incentive for them to not only continue to engage, but to share with others. It's been truly amazing.

Pros

The ease of use is off the charts. Aside from that, their pre-fab templates help you get you to market quickly, amazing analytics, integrations and flexibility, and incredible resources to help you learn and become an ESP pro. They make it easy to grow your audience with pop-up forms that can be integrated on your website, or separately, and make it a good point to stick to industry regulations. They're the most robust ESP on the market, and you shouldn't use anything else. Plus, their branding is just fun, and every now and then, they'll do something special for their customers (i.e. free socks and swag).

Cons

There's nothing I dislike about Mailchimp. So long as they continue to grow the integrations and capacity to link with outside vendors and applications, they'll continue to rule the market.

### "Hello Automated Workflows "

January 31, 2019

5.0

Their customer service is super responsive. Upgrading and downgrading is very simple. Someone with very little email marketing experience can set up the account and be up and running in a few hours. I love that I can upload files too and send files right inside of an email, and the autoresponders are probably my favorite reason for using MailChimp.

Pros

Integrations, templates, automation - what's not to love. I've synced up MailChimp with my website captures, my woocommerce stores, and I love that I can create automated workflow sequences based on triggers and segments. You can totally use Mailchimp as a Customer Relationship Contact tool. I'ved helped set up robust expensive CRM tools for some of my clients and I love that Mailchimp offers the same high priced features for a fraction of the cost. I love that also include layout templates to help you get started. Someone with zero design experience and HTML skill can create attractive emails to their clients. I also appreciate the automated integrations with some popular online e-commerce tools.

Cons

What I like least about Mailchimp is collecting additional information about subscribers. For example, I wanted to collect the state of each user so I can local specific offers, and the address fields are either the entire address or nothing at all. I was able to use the text field as an alternative, but it would be nice if I didn't have to backdoor it. I'd also like to see more templates added. We're in a very visual time with social media and web design, why hasn't Mailchimp caught up and created more templates and cycle them out every month so we have fresh layouts to look at?

### "Versatile email marketing platform"

September 7, 2021

4.0

Keeping my customers up-to-date with useful information.

Pros

The most important features for my business were the drip email functionality and the RSS-to-Email integration. What I like most about the RSS-to-Email functionality is that the email template functionality enables you to group different articles in one email. When you have a high-volume blog with many different articles it's important to group topics and send those out as a summary in one email. I find this feature is missing in many other email platforms. All-in-all the UI of the platform is done very well with a touch of humor here and there which is nice. The open API enables developers to integrate where the existing integration options are lacking - but overall the platform is well supported in many third-party platforms.

Cons

They've added features over the years to enable marketing automation (e.g. send an email to some who clicked/didn't click on an email or when someone visited your website) - at the time I was testing this functionality it didn't work very well. They've also added many other features which may drive value but I find they don't spend much effort in keeping existing customers up-to-date with the possibilities of these new features.

May 13, 2022

5.0

Mailchimp is the email marketing platform our company employs for several customers, we have been using this system for several times now, and it continues to grow always. I find them to be the reference.

Pros

It does have a nice and friendly user interface Almost any system capable to provide an Opt-In module does have MailChimp integration. There is a lot of literature and information on the web about their system. Good price plans Stand alone system.

Cons

It does not have any free plan without watermark. Most of the time you need a third party integration to make it work properly with WooCommerce

### "Awesome for Email Marketing and Newsletters"

January 11, 2020

5.0

Mailchimp is a great way to keep in touch with your audience. It is easy enough to use if you dont have a marketing professional at your disposal and at teh same time offers enough features to keep a marketing professional happy and occupied, should you have one.

Pros

I have friends who send out newsletters through their regular email. But you can only send it to a limited number of people to not land in spam, Mailchimp solves this problem for you. You write and design oner single email and it sends it out one at a time to all you recepients. At the same time, people have a link in the bottom of the email, can use it unsubscribe or change their email and you can design an email that looks both professional and compelling. Mailchimp gives you a lot of tools to track responses to emails (e.g. howe many reciepients even opened the message, clicked on a link in it etc) - now you have measurable ways to see how your newsletter is performing.

Cons

Mailchimp has nonthing not to like, really. It's well thought through. The ways in how you can slice and dice audiences (send emails to a subset of your receipient list based on specific criteria) and the ways how you can evaluate your email campaign are sheer endless. Pricing is reasonable, for smaller businesses doing email marketing or ministries sending out email newsletters this will mostly stay free (you only start paying when you get past a high volume of emails sent out per month - 10,000 or so). Mailchimp has a mobile app, but I rarely have used it. There could be an additional one to make it really easy and straigth forward for people to sign themselves up to your email newsletter on an ipad.

4.0

The nice part about the Mailchimp application is that it is simple and straightforward to use, and we can receive a list of up to 2000 free subscribers. The user interface is also simple to use and navigate. The number of Mailchimp email layouts is enormous. The email layouts in Mailchimp are stunning. A thorough report is visually appealing thanks to an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor. The thing I don't like about Mailchimp is that it's a little pricey. If you have a lot of online subscribers, you'll have to spend more money to use it.

Pros

Measuring the success of sales and marketing campaigns. Provides a sufficient number of startup templates. Free Trial Version (Free/Freemium) The drag-and-drop functionality is straightforward and engaging. Color modification is possible. Has a sizable API library.

Cons

In newsletters, there is a lack of support for video media assets. "Connected funnels" are easier to use. Offer a free/essentials plan with many seats for training team members. Reposition the "go" buttons such that they point to the dashboard rather than the footer. While creating campaigns, add diagram "logic" to pages.

### "Email marketing becomes a breeze with Mailchimp!"

March 24, 2023

5.0

Overall, I highly recommend Mailchimp to anyone looking for a user-friendly email marketing platform and who wants to automate their entire marketing journey.

Pros

I found that Mailchimp makes email marketing effortless with its comprehensive set of tools, including the creative assistant feature. The step-by-step process is straightforward, and the platform guides you through the process with helpful emails, allowing you to choose what to learn first. The analytics feature is particularly impressive, providing valuable insights into the performance of each email and helping to identify what content resonates with the audience. Moreover, the tagging system proved to be a great organizational tool, once I got the hang of it.

Cons

In my experience using Mailchimp, I did encounter some limitations. For instance, it's difficult to identify which emails have syntax errors after importing, and there are some challenges when it comes to sending emails creatively. That's it.

### "Solid Software, Easy to Use "

October 9, 2020

4.0

Mailchimp is a great tool for all kinds of teams. I use Mailchimp for marketing to external customers and potential customers, as well as for internal email communications. I like how easy it is to create emails that look good and make an impact.

Pros

Mailchimp is easy to use, for the most part. It's easy to set up campaigns, create segmented lists, and review analytics for each campaign you send. I also like that there is a free version for users who are not quite ready to pay for email marketing. However, when you do start paying and upgrade to a different plan you immediately notice the difference because there is a lot more functionality in their paid plans.

Cons

I am still having some difficulty creating automated campaigns based on segments. I wish they provided more video based documentation as well, so they can walk you through scenarios step-by-step. There are a lot of great external resources though, which have helped as I run into issues.

Pros

Cons

### "Mailchimp simplifies our email marketing operations."

January 13, 2023

4.0

Huge part of my departments email marketing operations, lives within the Mailchimp platform. The ability to send the right marketing emails to customers, at the right time, is a top benefit of using Mailchimp.

Pros

Some of the most visually appealing email templates that I have encountered in my few years of experience creating email campaigns , have been on the Mailchimp platform. I love its pre-designed templates and I have sometimes simply preferred to just rely on the platform 's email themes, which obviously requires me to introduce a bit of my own customization.

Cons

Email list management is Mailchimp's most visible archilles heel . Because Mailchimp siloes its list , it is difficult to maintain multiple lists distinguished by segmentations. For me, I have come to see that the aforementioned limits how we target our audience during email campaigns.

### "Essential, Beautiful and FUN Tool for Building a Loyal Following"

September 6, 2018

5.0

I use MailChimp to keep my music fanbase informed of shows and releases, as well as keeping them engaging with my blog and social content. It's great to see which messaging is working an which is falling flat, as well as how often my links are being clicked and by who. Really powerful reporting here, and yet simple to understand. I also use the MailChimp Subscribe iPad app as a mobile sign-up terminal at my live shows and it works like a dream.

Pros

I love how fun MailChimp has remained throughout years of growth and interface transformations. I've used Mailchimp for a long, long time and one day I received a plastic Chimp in the office. I was hooked. The 'attitude' of a tool goes a long way to how much we enjoy using it - and I tend to use the tools that bring me joy much more than those that feel like 'work'. MailChimp is peppered with little touches like this. For example - the high-five every time I hit send. Never gets old. Fun aside - the free tier is a godsend for small businesses, non-profits and artists like myself. I've used the paid tiers at work and the free tier at home and they've done an excellent job dividing up what features belong behind a paywall. MailChimp is a totally capable mailing list manager on the free tier.

Cons

Sometimes it can be challenging to wrap your head around the workflow of MailChimp. They are constantly tweaking the interface, which is good because it gets better with each iteration. But I'm not sure they have nailed it yet. Using merge fields can be clunky too. While MailChimp is easy to use, things like A/B testing and automation are likely beyond the reach of the novice user.

### "Robust Email Marketing that Stays Ahead of the Curve"

February 23, 2021

As a startup marketing agency, we’ve used Mailchimp for many years. Unlike most other platforms, Mailchimp has evolved at a steady pace and stayed ahead of our needs each step of the way...not just maintaining the status quo like most other email marketing platforms in this tired space.

Pros

Their ability to evolve in useful ways — mobile app, education program, email to postcards, etc — is what we like most, for sure, and why we stay with and recommend Mailchimp to others.

Cons

The thing we like the least? Small issues like the inability to see Segment sizes in an overview/list view (instead of how it is currently, requiring one to click into each segment).
