Pros It’s easy to use for the most part. Understanding revenue from newsletters was clear and getting newsletters done and out the door is quick. Cons The flows could be really hard to find - the wording made it difficult to tell them apart. Also, analytics weren’t the easiest to read and get a clear picture of. Pros Mailchimp was simple to implement and use, it was easy to see who had received messages/responded/opted out, etc. Cons Restricted features on a free plan, it was costly to use for the large amount of families we were contacting. I like the drag and drop builder, it’s easy to throw together a campaign without having to hire a graphic designer every time. The specific open rates and click rates provide unequivocal guidance on what is working. Cons As soon as we began segmenting our list more deeply, we encountered some constraints without upgrading plans. Also, complex automations don’t have quite as smooth of a learning curve. April 1, 2025 1.0 Frustrating non-intuitive templates that are presented as strategic solutions and user friendly to build, but instead overwork you with minutia and on attempt of implementation, force you into paid upgrades. Additionally, even though you might have a perfectly scrubbed mailing list that you obtained over years personally via a dedicated website, after completing hours and perhaps days of work building campaigns and templates, on the initial "send" of your very first email, your account could be suspended indefinitely for no specific given reason - a suspension so serious that it cannot be appealed. So, there's that risk. Screw this overrated expensive hack of a service. They're only in business because they're the original brand and consumers are comforted by familiarity. That won't last forever. Pros The sales pitch. The espoused product. "Vote for me if you want all of your dreams to come true." Cons The actual product and absolute non existence of customer support. Their chat bots are actually bots. Better time spent talking to the wall. Helps when you want to keep things moving without fiddling too much. Pros I like the ready bits—templates, drag, drop, job done. Reports after show what’s been opened and what’s gone nowhere. Makes the follow-up easier. Cons Thing is, when the list grows, it starts to drag. Feels heavier, slower to load, and price climbs quicker than you think once past the freebies. Pros What I like most is that Mailchimp service up to a certain number of email address records is free. I use Mailchimp all the time and it is easy to create stellar emails. May 28, 2025 4.0 Mailchimp is exactly what we needed. We use it for 2 main purposes. For mass email / newsletters and for automated emails to be sent to customers who get added into a specific data base. The automated email was huge because it removes a few steps that our team has to do each time we add customers to the data base. The newsletters use is very straight forward. Pros Mailchimp is very easy to use. The automation is exactly what we needed and it has been used regularly for newsletters and essential automated emails that we have needed to send out. Cons There isn't much that we did not like about Mailchimp. The one thing we had an issue with was a connection issue with a spread sheet we used, we didn't know the disconnect occurred for a few days, but it was easy to fix. It's easy to import in new subrcibers and they also so anyone that has unsubscribe as well. Pros Mailchimp is an affordable option for companies both big and small. It's easy to use to import in your own files or to build on their templates. If you are on a fixed budget, there are many free options that can have a great look for your company and not break the bank. Cons I haven't found many cons to Mailchimp. It's so easy to use and customize. I do wish you could test what emails will look like on black screens versus white screens, because the colors you use can be impacted by it.
