### "Email marketing made easy!"

January 31, 2019

5.0

I am increasing the efficiency and the effectiveness of my email marketing with Mailchimp. It is now incredibly easy for me to perform split-testing experiments.

Pros

The Mailchimp interface is very easy to understand. The design is clean and the options are clear. I often need to teach people how to use Mailchimp, and people of all ages and backgrounds have no problem learning how to use all of the features available. All of the available templates are very useful and well-designed.

Cons

There is nothing I really dislike about using Mailchimp. I have been using it for years now. I could always use more email templates though.

### "Who knew monkey's delivered email?"

September 12, 2018

5.0

My overall experience with MailChimp has been mostly positive. As long as you follow the laws for e-mail marketing and don't begin to shoot out random spam all over the place then you should be able to use this platform for your overall marketing needs. They have excellent tracking and delivery and the ability for you to send content to your customers that is both mobile and desktop ready is a big plus.

Pros

Mailchimp has some of the best sending rates in the e-mail marketing industry next to sendgrid and other service providers. I found that when I needed to get something sent to someone there was not fear or question if it was going to land in the spam unlike other popular marketing platforms.

Cons

There are many aspects of Mailchimp that are clunky such as the ability to create autoresponders, the ability to separate list, and the ability for you to make specific lead capture forms for custom websites. Their code can often be cumbersome to use, so be aware that you will need some time to find everything you need within their system when first setting up.

### "Trustworthy tool for delivering emails to your customers"

July 14, 2018

4.0

Pros

Works well, haven't experienced any problems. Has an online GUI where you can easily find emails that were sent, easy to see blacklisted emails. Has a nice statistics page to see how your emails are doing overall. We've been delivering millions of emails in past year without a problem.

Cons

The PHP SDK I used was kinda outdated and it had little options to change the behaviour without manually changing the source. They should update the library to standards that are more current. GUI where you can view emails, etc. sometimes is a but slow. The search filters could use a face-lift.

### "Best in the business"

July 30, 2021

5.0

We used to use MailChimp extensively and also recommend it to everyone we came across. It helped our marketing team start email marketing quickly and with minimal commitment. It helped us keep in touch with your audience reliably and affordably.

Pros

MailChimp is one of the easiest email marketing tools I have ever used. I have tried others but none match the options and features provided by MailChimp. The built-in templates are easily customizable and you do not need graphic design experience to edit them and brand them as if they were your own creations.

Cons

Their UX/UI is very confusing and hard to use most of the time. What should take a few minutes, usually takes half and hour to figure out. I also think that they should really make a desktop app now, which you can connect with the cloud.

### "They're not monkeying around"

December 14, 2023

5.0

Positive experience and I love their funky aesthetic. I actually still use it for my personal website where SMS is not a factor. Good bang for your buck!

Pros

I really appreciated how Mailchimp integrated with Woocommerce. It made the data collection much more powerful and allowed for automated customer segment recommendations, which is one less thing to think about.

Cons

We ended up moving to Klaviyo (way more expensive!) because we wanted to start SMS marketing and they offered both. So I guess the addition of SMS would be good. I also struggled at times with the editor, but in general it was pretty cooperative.

Switched from

[Campaign Monitor by Marigold](https://www.capterra.com/p/76928/Campaign-Monitor/)

We used Mailchimp originally, then switched to Campaign Monitor on the recommendation of a consultant. Did not continue with that consultant and went back to Mailchimp because we liked the builder and reporting better. Plus it had our historical emails, which was handy.

### "It used to be better"

March 24, 2023

4.0

I used to like Mailchimp for absolute beginners before it had the big overhaul a few years ago. Now it is really confusing and for my clients who are novice in online marketing I prefer to recommend other platforms that are easier to use and a lot cheaper.

Pros

Having landing pages, lead management and email marketing in one is great

Cons

Overall the navigation is really confusing. I struggle to find where everything is and they charge for automation whereas other email systems do not.

### "Email Marketing Solution"

March 9, 2021

4.0

Mailchimp is a great email marketing software. It can be integrated in Wordpress or used extrenally. It has the ability to create landing pages and opt in forms. The segmentation is amazing and one of the best. Deliverability rate is also one of the best. However, it's very expensive compared to other providers, especially that it uses the same servers like everybody else (Amazon AWS.) The free version (up to 2000 subscribers only) is very limited and no longer comes with scheduling options. I've switched to Omni Send and MailBluster which I find more cost effective for my growing list of 10000+ subscribers.

Pros

Deliverability rate is excellent. I've tried several email marketing software such as Email Octopus, MailBluster, Flodesk, SendPlus etc..., and Mailchimp by far has the highest deliverability rate among them all. Meaning, your email is most likely sent to the receiver's inbox rather than in spam. Segmentation in Mailchimp is the best.

Cons

It's incredibly expensive compared to other mail providers. The free version no longer supports essential features such as scheduling campaigns or a variation of templates. The html editor doesn't offer enough tools.

Alternatives considered

[Flodesk](https://www.capterra.com/p/207268/Flodesk/)[EmailOctopus](https://www.capterra.com/p/147415/EmailOctopus/)[MailerLite](https://www.capterra.com/p/136603/MailerLite/)[MuxEmail](https://www.capterra.com/p/215482/MuxEmail/)[Omnisend](https://www.capterra.com/p/153508/Omnisend/)

Reason for choosing Mailchimp

Deliverability rate. But then I switched to Mailbluster because it's more feasible.

### "Great Platform for our Organization."

September 7, 2023

5.0

Fantastic experience. I've recommended it to others to use.

Pros

We loved being able to create a basic website for our volunteer organization at little to low cost.Being able to send HTML emails with links and images in them is wonderful.

Cons

We are only on the basic plan and there is a limit to the number of emails that can be sent in a year.

### "Great whether your using free or paid"

October 4, 2018

5.0

Overall experience is probably the best of any software/app that I have used. We use it for all of our email campaigns, sale campaigns and so on.

Pros

The amount of features with MailChimp , even on the free side of it is amazing and just so easy to use. I had to contact customer support for trying to setup an email template and the rep was just amazing. Walked me through, took her time, and made sure that I fully understood how to complete the email template before ending the call.

Cons

i find no pitfalls to MailChimp and compared to others that are so expensive and do not have the features and support like they do.

### "Complicated to use when someone else sets it up"

June 5, 2018

4.0

We set up email newsletter templates and campaigns that basically "just work." I don't really have to think about Mailchimp breaking ever.

Pros

I like the feel of the interface and the amount of communication Mailchimp offers. Setting up automated emails from RSS feeds was fairly easy too, although a settings change can make for some awkward links without you realizing it. The thing I like most about Mailchimp is that they completely have your back when it comes to email marketing legal compliance. They set up unsubscribe links and make it super easy to incorporate them, they send emails reminding you of the rules, and it is very seamless. Mailchimp integrates with Zapier if that's something you're interested in. Also, the winking monkey mailman is super cute and I always like seeing it.

Cons

It took me like three months to understand the relatively simple email campaigns my predecessor had set up. Navigating their UX requires a relatively large base knowledge of email marketing concepts so coming from nothing was quite difficult. Also, Mailchimp works for email marketing and some outreach, but it doesn't cater to simple needs very well. For example, we wanted to set up an email to notify guests on our podcast that their episodes had gone live, and it just didn't really work with Mailchimp.

### "Simple and gets the job done"

April 9, 2020

5.0

I'm still using it years later. Looked into other solutions but didn't like them as much. Sticking with the Chimp.

Pros

I loved that it was free up to 2k contacts. That really helped my business when it was smaller. I've kept it years later because it's so easy to use.

Cons

Haven't found any cons. It's always done what I need it to do. Problems have only been minor - like if you put a pic in a text block it will make all the text too small to read on a phone. Pics have to be in their own pic box. Small thing, but drove me crazy until I figured it out.

Reason for choosing Mailchimp

Free account for smaller companies just starting out.

### "My mailing lists are easily managed"

January 4, 2020

5.0

I have relied on Mailchimp for years. I have had a paid membership in the past. I currently use the free membership. I have Mailchimp integrated on my Facebook page and on my blog. It allows people to join my mailing lists very easily. Also, it's very easy to send emails. I have my templates already set up and just fill in the new information and blast it out to all of my subscribers at once. Very good for a free mailing list organizer.

Pros

I like how Mailchimp easily manages my email lists. I don't have to do much. I have Mailchimp connected to my Facebook page and am constantly getting new subscribers with no additional effort.

Cons

Sometimes I will get errors and don't quite know how to fix them. There have been times where I have had to search online or in the help section to get a resolution to a problem.

### "Great resource when starting your email list"

February 26, 2020

4.0

My overall experience is mostly positive. I'm loyal because Mailchimp gave me the start I needed to build my email list. I'm grateful for the learning experience.

Pros

I like the ability to get up and started fast using the software. It was one of the only platforms that allowed me to start for free at the beginning of running the business. I also like the ability to hold my resources in the library to provide for my customers.

Cons

It's hard to get a stylish form without code or use of a plugin. Some of the processes are difficult to manage even with the guides. I still have not figured out how to create segments from one list. There must be a user-friendly way to create segments than what is available now.

### "Simple to use, FREE e-newsletter software"

September 19, 2018

5.0

Mail Chimp has been the perfect solution for me. I work for a realtor, and we like to send quarterly newsletters to stay in touch with our clients, and provide valuable information for buyers and seller alike. I've always been able to use the generous free version, which has been great because it does not add to our expenses. Mail Chimp is a great tool for anyone looking to send e-newsletters.

Pros

Mail Chimp is really easy to learn and use, and the UI is intuitive and easy to navigate. Everything is laid out to where you can find it without much effort. Other e-newsletter software I've used has been extremely bulky and complicated. I also love that fact that there is a generous free version.

Cons

I am kind of disappointed about the templates in Mail Chimp. They look nice if you can fill every box exactly, but if you have more or less text content or pictures, they start to look off. This isn't entirely the fault of Mail Chimp, but I wish the templates could accommodate different amounts of content, while maintaining the template's aesthetic.

### "Great software for doing mailings"

August 2, 2018

5.0

I have used MailChimp for over four years now. It is a great way to do mailings. One of the coolest things is the way it protects you from accidentally mailing to somebody who has already unsubscribed. Also, it tracks stats on mailings in an easy to understand way.

Pros

The tracking features (showing opens, clicks, etc.) for this mailing software are excellent. You can easily run reports to show your boss what's what. The customer support is also great. And the software will track people who unsubscribe, so you don't have to worry about accidentally emailing them.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to formatting emails here.

### "A very strong email marketing tool that keeps you up to date with regulations"

September 6, 2018

4.0

Overall, Mailchimp is a good tool for sending out email campaigns. It's simplicity has saved a lot of time and the way the contact lists are handled is superb. Some of the quirks I mentioned in the cons section are very frustrating but livable when weighed in with the pros. The recent GDPR regulations were a strain on our organization but getting our Mailchimp list compliant was the easiest part. If your organization generally sends out one type of message or you don't have to worry about different divisions of your organization needing to have different settings, Mailchimp should work very well for you with very little issue. Our organization is more complicated with the need to send very different messages from different divisions and sub divisions so it is trickier for us to use. It would make sense for organizations like ours to have multiple, separate Mailchimp accounts but that would defeat the most important feature, which is the integrated contact list.

Pros

The best thing about Mailchimp is the ability to customize your target lists to ensure the right people are getting the right message. The days of going through spreadsheets to figure out who to send what are over and you never need to worry about sending the same person duplicate emails (unless they signed up to your list with different email accounts). The integration with social media is very convenient and really helps messages get an even further reach after they are sent. Also, having an archive of emails with many ways to view metrics on each of them as well as access to each recipient's behavior is very valuable.

Cons

The basic editor is very buggy so you have to be sure things look and work right every time. Even when you do make sure things work right in the preview, they sometimes don't in the actual email that goes out. When you cut and paste copy, it is unpredictable what the outcome will be because styles embedded in Mailchimp or the original document get easily mixed up. Most of these issues can be fixed if you go into the html view but who wants to do that when the purpose of the software is to help make things easier? There are a lot of limits on what you can achieve with the look of the emails you create using the set blocks Mailchimp provides. A simple option like lining up images next to text either on top, middle or bottom should be present but is not. There are ways around this by editing your images to force the look you want but that should not have to be. If you have more than one type of business, it is impossible to have some different social media accounts linked or different business info settings created for selection.

### "A solid tool for email campaign management"

September 15, 2021

4.0

In general I wish that Mailchimp worked more on their design. I appreciate the functionality and all the available settings, but working in the interface isn't very pleasant.

Pros

Mailchimp is irreplaceable when it comes to automated email campaigns, especially sending out promo reminders and updates about available services, new products and content.

Cons

I like the UX of Mailchimp least, I often dread to log into it since the interface doesn't feel user friendly to me.

### "Disappointed with Integrity"

September 2, 2019

2.0

Pros

Mailchimp has a nice interface and powerful features.

Cons

Mailchimp created two big issues for us. First, Mailchimp's integration with Shopify stopped transferring new emails to our mailchimp list automatically. At a glance, it appeared the app was working just fine but after using it for about 2 years and looking closer I found the app left behind 19,000 email addresses. That is to say thatr 19,000 people signed up to receive our newsletters but Mailchimp failed to include their email addresses in our subscriber base. When I contact Mailchimp about the issue, they admitted that there had been an issue but it had only affected a small number of users. I asked why they didn't notify those users and they said they couldn't identify exactly who those users were. So why not contact all app users and encourage them to check that their integration is working correctly? Mailchimp was very unapologetic, but we continued working with them assuming it was a fluke. Months later, thousands of subscribers disappeared from our list one day. After pestering mailchimp for help recovering the lost email addresses, they finally did so, but again very unapologetically. They lost our trust so we moved to a different provider.

Reason for choosing Mailchimp

After leaving Mailchimp, we now use mailerlite which we are very happy with.

### "One of the best email marketing tools for all sizes of business"

October 29, 2021

5.0

Pros

For my company it's the ease of use that's very important. Keeps a lot of features quite simple and easy to understand and the design and usability is excellent. We also use it to AB test and lot which is helpful. We have it linked with another CRM that we use too, so can manage email templates in Mailchimp which is very useful.

Cons

There email design visual builder is quite limited. We moved from another software that didnt have some of the Mailchimp features, but allowed us to have much more control over how different modules looked. Things like padding and margins are very fixed and you really have to delve into the code if you want to do anything even slightly custom.

Quick and clean marketing!

Pros

It's intuitive and the templates are easy to use. It is very affordable compared to a lot of other email services. I also appreciate the customer support. They are always adding new features and integrations (there are a lot). I think MailChimp is great for small businesses or personal use.

Cons

There are some functions that take a lot of work-around to create, particularly with the segments and groups and setting up automations. It took a good amount of time to figure out workarounds, but now we are up and running smoothly. Customer support was helpful.

### "Where my business growth started!"

November 17, 2020

5.0

I owe my initial audience growth to Mailchimp! Its easy signup forms have been the vehicle to creating many authentic relationships, some of which were the linchpin to digital product sales. I intend to remain on the free version of the website until I am ready to create my first multi-day automated email campaign. I couldn't be happier with what I've been able to accomplish so far!

Pros

Mailchimp offers awesome templates that I can use to remain in touch with my audience. The website is easy to navigate, and I've had success in importing contacts that I've collected via other platforms.

Cons

Grouping/segmentation with the free version of Mailchimp is rather difficult. You can only have one "audience" unless you 1) have strong coding skills and can circumvent the grouping limitations by creating custom signup forms or 2) upgrade. Additionally, I'd love if it were easier to change font sizes/colors when I design campaigns. I find myself "fiddling" for a couple of minutes with my final draft to make sure everything is consistent with my branding.

### "Though it haas some flaws it's the best"

June 6, 2019

5.0

For now, MailChimp has no better alternative. I advise that you find your ways around its flaws and keep using it because the other Newsletter tools don't have better features as MailChimp.

Pros

MailChimp has a free version offering up to 10,000 emails which I think is generous of them I used MailChimp when I had just begun my business and I was able to send out free 500 emails. MailChimp’s limit for the free plan is 2000 emails per month which is really good. I think this is part of the reason MailChimp says it sends 600 million emails through its platform per day. MailChimp integrates so well with Wordpress which I think many people use. It has cute templates and a variety of them to choose from. MailChimp really has it all compared to other Newsletter tools It offers landing pages, forms, and subscription pop-ups

Cons

The most annoying thing about MailChimp is that their emails will most of the time go to the promotion box for Gmail users. So you have to always tell your subscribers to mark your emails as important in order to receive them which also makes you sound too salesy
