Owner Retail Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Mailchimp is really the best available option for building my business" February 12, 2021 4.0 I really enjoyed the way you can manage your customers. It also gives you a rating for your contacts on how responsive they are to emails and other communications. Pros I tried zoho crm and mailchimp after doing some research. I really enjoyed the quality and integration of mailchimp. It integrates nicely with gmail after I switched to it. It is easy to integrate with website building software. It's a very good option for a lower budget and even free if you are just starting out. Cons I upgraded to use the outgoing email feature. This feature is buried in a menu. It needs to be higher up in the menu system. The email feature is not available at all on the mobile app. Another item that was frustrating is that in the area where you keep track of your more recent customer contact. It keeps an item in the folder as a todo when you have sent an email. I would prefer it to show in a recently sent area and not in your "to do" area. They have exceptional software that was well thought out with the user in mind. Having a more professional email has never been so easy. Pros I've used this for clients for a few years now. When I first logged in to use it, I felt like I had already been using it for a long time. It's ease of use was phenomenal and I was pleasantly surprised. It was user-friendly, clear and concise with functions, and you didn't have to guess at what you were doing. You didn't have to stumble through it and the emails were always gorgeous and very professional even if you are newer to the program. It brings a level of sophistication to your emails that would most likely not be possible without Mailchimp's help. The free version is quite impressive as well. Cons The only complaint about the software is the limitations on how many people can be sent an email for the price. The free version is very nice however, it seems nicer than the next plan up which is paid. The unlimited emails are nice but the limited contacts is what holds their plans back from being the best. Pros It's super easy to make attractive email campaigns and gain traffic to your website (and loyals to your brand). Their drag-and-drop email builder is really helpful, too. It makes email building cake. The pricing options are also pretty reasonable, in my opinion. And you get 2000 subscribers for free. It has almost always served my clients needs, and I love the integration with WooCommerce and WP in general. I also love that you can create custom pop-up forms, see each subscribers details (like open rate, etc.), and more. It's fantastic. Cons Honestly, I don't really have many cons. It's a pretty comprehensive platform. Of course, we all wish it could be free, but the developers at MailChimp have earned some compensation, I think. Oh, and it could be easier to set up automation. It could use some enhancements and additions to the content builder. Can be a bit confusing at times. Pros Great platform. Fairly easy to use. Performance tracking. Generous offering before charging. Templates are great for quick email building. Cons Support can be hard to find. Options are a bit scattered and hard to locate sometimes. Templates are limited in style and are not as easy to make changes to as I would like. It's campaign duplication feature is awesome for sending out follow up emails, and it's ability to send to people who have or haven't opened a previously campaign makes it super helpful for email marketing for things like sales and new products. Cons Sometimes the drag and drop builder has bugs or limitations that can get annoying, but overall nothing major. Now our growth has raised by 2.8% with the adoption of Mailchimp. Pros The most interesting fact is that Mailchimp allows to send in built surveys and campaigns throughout to the users in the system. Mailchimp is very easy to use and simple such that we can send mails more seamlessly to anyone we desire. All the features are in there in the panel and can be found easily. The UX is also very great ! Cons Pricing plan is a bit high and the system seems to be slow on low bandwidth connections. Pros Vast options and features, relatively easy to use (drag and drop) even for new users, good choice of templates, strong knowledge base. Mailchimp simply works and gets the job done. So far none of the competitors have shown that they offer a better value for the money. Cons It's buggy and can be quite annoying at times for daily users. They frequently make big changes that did not seem like a step forward. While knowledge base is great, support is hard to reach sometimes. It works, the reporting is generally in the ballpark, and they don't throttle you for emails out. Pros It works... that's about it. Chat support is nice, too. Cons There are a lot of things I don't like about Mailchimp. Here are my top issues: 1. No phone support. 2. Not intuitive and Mailchimp does a terrible job of teaching newbies. 3. Editor Writing and Editing Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Incredibly unintuitive to navigate and frustrating" October 14, 2021 3.0 I would come to Mailchimp every 3 months and dreaded it--which is probably why I didn't use it more often. Just thinking back on it makes my blood pressure rise. I consider myself reasonably tech savvy but Mailchimp defeated me and I quit with great pleasure. I do have solopreneur friends who swear by Mailchimp but I would prefer to leave it to the marketing specialists. Pros It seems to be the go-to service for mailing list management and so WordPress plugins and other services all had options to integrate with Mailchimp. Cons The names of the menus and actions and options were so utterly confusing and NOT intuitive. I didn't find it at all easy to set up campaigns, design emails/newsletters and landing pages. Navigating the platform was a nightmare. Many, many clicks and curses were involved to simply locate my contact lists (which were called something nondescriptive) or find the media library (also called something mysterious at some point...), or find the campaign vs landing page vs email I was designing. Pros MailChimp is really easy to use and does all the things you'd want it to. It manages contact lists, has tons of great templates to create nice looking emails, and provides effortless analytics. MailChimp has allowed my organization to understand how our customers interact with email and use that data to make better customer communications that get opened more often. Whenever we've had a question, MailChimp staff have been immediately responsive. There are a lot of business email services out there, but MailChimp is the best in my opinion. Cons I wish the pricing was lower. As we've built our audience, we've had to pay more for the next tiers of service. The payment is reasonable, but we don't have a large budget. Pros I really enjoy the available campaign templates and the drag-and-drop design interface, however I feel that the layouts can be limiting in terms of managing negative space such as margins and padding, and probably some additional formatting and style options could be introduced to help tighten up the look and feel of email campaigns. Overall, the ease of designing a strong visual email campaign is what keeps me coming back to Mailchimp. Tracking and measuring the open and click-through rates is good but not our main focus. Cons The cost increases as your audience base grows and I feel that the pricing model discourages us from wanting to grow our base because we know that it scales up quite quickly and we find that it is becoming rapidly not a very cost-effective means of communicating our messages. We've been tempted to find alternative solutions based on the pricing model alone. There should be options for base plans that don't automatically scale up when you add recipients to your email lists. Also, we found that it isn't clear when members of your lists aren't receiving the messages; there may be opted-out or disabled email addresses (bouncebacks, undeliverables) that you're still paying for in spite of the fact that they aren't receiving your messages. You have to be careful to manually review and clean your lists otherwise you could be paying for services you aren't benefiting from. Review Source Steve D. Mailchimp won't let their customers spam lists, so as a result it's sometimes challenging to get big lists into their system. Nevertheless, this hurdle is a big part of what makes their deliverability rates so good. Their template system is pretty good and easy enough for anyone with an average level of tech savvy to use. Pros Having come from a full-featured hosted email solution which itself was really good, I wasn't sure if Mailchimp would hold many advantages, but it clearly does. First and foremost is the deliverability of the mail coming from their servers. Mailchimp makes every effort to keep their noses clean in sending, and as a result, they're rarely if ever blacklisted as spam. Their deliverability is excellent. Cons The pricing structure is a little on the expensive side, but I understand it. I wish it were a little cheaper to maintain larger lists, but it's still worth the money. It's a good product.
