Pros MailChimp is very user friendly. It is easy for me to get less technical coworkers up to speed with how to design emails from templates, upload lists, and schedule emails. MailChimp offers a lot of features for free. If you are a small company, nonprofit, or working on a personal endeavor, MailChimp will not cost you a lot to gain a lot of value from it. MailChimp also has a great learning center full of resources. Cons Some aspects of email template design are difficult at first, but with practice it becomes much easier. We schedule these in advance to different groups using tags. It works well, but can be time consuming. Pros The customer service is great, any issues are resolved quickly. The templates are easy to use and the scheduling tools, audiences and tags save a lot of time. Cons We use Teamup to connect our audience which helpfully has a linking system. It is very smooth to use and integrates well with many other programs, specifically we use Wordpress and Livechat in conjunction with Mailchimp and have seen great results! Pros There was almost no learning curve when using this product. The first day that I used it I was able to upload a list, design an email, send it out, and review the open rates. Coming from using constant contact in the past it was much more user friendly, and the price is unbeatable! Cons I have had some issue with scheduled emails not going out because the campaign was inadvertently paused, which is a little bit too easy to do in my opinion. But that is definitely user error on my part so I just need to be more careful and double check the status of my mailing. It also allows us to segment the audience list. It has email templates library with customization option. Mailchimp has free version with limited access but to begin with small businesses can give it a try. Cons While creating email templates from scratch, we face some difficulty in text formatting. Wide variety of pricing packages. Easy to learn. Pros Mailchimp's drag and drop building format makes it incredibly easy to construct emails. They have tons of great tutorial videos to help teach you how to use it and create various layouts. I found there was very little you couldn't do with mailchimp. It is easy to create, save and duplicate templates and helps ensure you always meet necessary communications legislation. The analytics are basic but ensure you have the information you need and it is easy to manage client lists. Pricing is reasonable and they have a number of options to help users find the package that fits them. If you are not into building your own templates, Mailchimp offers a number of premade designs. It is very easy to look at and see what you are creating as you go. Cons It is not fully customizable making more complicated layouts difficult. The analytics well useful could offer more information. I had many clients who wanted to simply attach a document as you would in a traditional email platform and that is not what mailchimp is built for so it created a need for further, often lengthy discussions, to explain why mailchimp's method is better. Pros Mailchimp is so easy to use. We have trained multiple clients on how to use this bulk mailing system and people of all levels are able to pick it up quickly and easily. Their integration is easy so even without much experience you can be collecting addresses and sending beautiful emails to your visitors. With new features coming all the time there is lots of value here. Cons Mailchimp can get quite expensive if you have a large mailing list so it is very important that you gain some real value from the email addresses you collect. Cons There's truly nothing I actively dislike about Mailchimp. Any free tools like this help small businesses get off the round. Only when they can afford, should they need to pay for more sends, more customers etc. Pros It's free. There is a limit but as a small business, I won't reach that limit soon. I use Mailchimp to link up with my Woocommerce site to send emails to customers after they have purchased from my site. I'm able to put those customers into different segments, so I can send information to each segment that's most useful to that particular segment. The UI is amazingly easy to use however it did take me a while to understand what to do and where certain bits are, such as my campaigns and customers. You can easily proof emails, and use prebuilt templates to get campaigns up and running quickly. My last campaign took about 10 minutes to create and send! Cons It took a while for me to make my way around the UI. I could never remember where anything was and it took me a while to find what I was looking for. After much use, I'm now comfortable. I've never had a problem like this with other tools and softwares, and I have used a lot in my 13+ years in building websites. The campaign for a percent off coupon when signing up for our newsletter was being sent out to everyone that purchased from us. We had several sales on our website from customers we had first interacted with via other venues. Then about two months ago, it stopped working. I have walked through all of the steps to troubleshoot the issue, but nothing has worked to reestablish our integration between PayPal and MailChimp. Due to this, we may have to switch providers in the near future. Pros Once set up, it works in the background to collect email addresses and grow a subscriber list for your business. Integrates into my store hosted on Big Commerce and also integrates with PayPal to grow a subscriber list from my customers on eBay and Bonanza. Enables you to set up an invitation to join the email list that can be sent automatically to each customer that interacts with you. Walks you through the steps so you can legally build your subscriber list. Is able to be set up to automatically send promotional emails (campaigns) to subscribers. Also, can be set up to send emails to customers that abandon items in their carts and/or suggest other items a customer might like based on what they purchased. Also, tracks the success of the emails that are sent. Cons Integration to PayPal is difficult to set up and offers no way to fix it when it stops working. There are troubleshooting steps; however, if they fail to work, then you are left with no way to fix the problem.
