Best cost benefit for small business Pros Mailchimp is easy to use if you're a small business with less segmentation. It's also cheap comparing other tools and have a great templates and plug and play design features for email marketing. Cons The integration with Pipedrive is not intuitive, I have to use zapier to replicate my tags for doing that work well I had to know the mailchimp tags ID even using postman I didn't have access to all the tags IDs. Support center doesn't help when you need. Pros I love this software because it saves us the arduous task of having to send emails in large quantities manually because with it we just have to automate this and thus send mass emails, being able to create these thanks to the templates provided by it so that the emails are very professional, it is not necessary that we have to download this software for use but simply open it from any browser so that we can use it from anywhere, also the emails can even be customized by changing their buttons or style, they are easy to review and this It is thanks to the fact that it offers a really intuitive menu so browsing through it is simple, but the most attractive thing is that emails sent from this software do not usually end up in the spam tray. Cheap is always good. Pros If you just need to send an email to a single list of contacts on a weekly or monthly basis it is great. Easy to import contacts or collect from your website. The design tool is easy to use and it will show you how well your campaigns are doing. Cons Advanced management of contacts is difficult through the tagging method and sending customized campaigns becomes difficult. Importing contacts from lists that overlap in my business software (ie. all clients, versus clients that purchased a specific item) becomes cumbersome and time consuming. Given the amount of great choices all with better support any choice would be better than choosing Mailchimp. Pros At first we used them because they were the only game in town and were partnered with Shopify. Last year shopify kicked them off their platform - probably for the reason below. Cons Hands the worst customer experience we’ve ever had experienced. Try searching for a phone number for Mailchimp (there’s a reason why can’t find one). Just ask yourself why a billion dollar company doesn’t list their number...it’s because their customer experience is that bad. I pay nothing for it, receive a fantastic service, and it works with everything. I have it linked to a google form using Zapier, but the built in plug-ins also provide users with more than enough functionality. It's great. Pros The email builders are fantastic - they have good designs for you to choose from, they allow you to save custom designs as templates, and they allow for easy input of information (like a customer's name). Then analytics are also great. I use it to manage a list of about 1200 people, and knowing when emails are opened, who opens them, and what they click are allows for better emails in the future. Cons There is a \*slight\* learning curve. It took me a while to understand the difference between a campaign and a list, for example. I've also had to learn how campaigns work. Though I did figure it out, I was confused as to how to send new subscribers an email. I now have a campaign that sets up automatically, but it did take a while. Review Source Brent B. Whether you want to custom build your own HTML template or use their drag and drop system, both are equally quick and easy to get up and running. After using a myriad of overly complicated and under-powered ESP's, I've realized nothing comes close to Mailchimp. They even have more sophisticated features like drip campaigns, the ability to suppress particular users, etc. Cons While they do have a number of advanced features, Mailchimp still does not quite hit the mark if you're running a large campaign for a bigger client. While it's great for small to medium sized businesses, the easy to use features quickly become limiting when you're trying to run a sophisticated campaign with multiple lists and dynamic variables. I'd highly reccomend for others to give it a try as my experience with Mailchimp has been great thus far. A benefit of using this is that we have been able to increase engagement with newsletter subscribers and donors. Pros What I like most about this software is that nonprofit organizations can use it for free! It is great to use for reaching out to subscribers for your newsletters. What I like most about this software is that not only is it very easy to construct a graphically appealing email, it also allows users to do A/B testing and send out the emails to themselves to see how their recipient would view it. I think that is such a great feature. Cons What I like least about Mailchimp is that there sometimes is not a lot of flexibility as to how you can make your email look like. For example, when adding a picture, users can only choose the direction in which the photo will be. They do not get the option to place the photo exactly where they wish to. They even sent me socks with monkeys on them! Pros I have been very impressed with this software, especially the fact that they offer so much for free. Of course, if you're working on a bigger scale you can pay eventually, but it's a great way to test out the software first and see if it's a good fit. This company has great marketing tactics of their own brand, so you know their marketing software has to be good. I've used MailChimp for many different companies, professional and side hobbies. They definitely know their target market. Very user-friendly, they make templates for dummies. Cons I really can't think of any cons. I have not had any issues with this software at all. Setup automations through Zapier and cater to our lists. I had no issues with the software. As mentioned in my "cons", we eventually outgrew it's capabilities. If you're looking to do basic to mid difficulty email campaigns you can't go wrong with MailChimp. Pros \- The simplicity of the tool. - An easy to use interface which will help you get up and running in no time - Great documentation to answer any question you might have - They've been around for quite some time so they know what they're doing and that's felt while using their software - It's stable and well thought out. - Great integrations with other tools that allow you to build your own ecosystem Cons \- As you get more advanced with your email campaigns you start realizing that there's an incomplete toolset for more advanced users. - That said I don't think this app is designed for power users. Pros I was in search for a professional, easy-to-use platform to send out email marketing newsletters, product guides, etc. to a large customer base. I needed the software to be simple to use, didn't require much training for various team members to work with, and still had a professional touch to it. MailChimp was our answer. It has been a life-saving product for our business - and we love it! Not only are our customers seeing emails at regular intervals (the scheduled email feature is helpful here), we also feel confident about the emails we are sending to our customers - consistent and professional. Cons If you are an email marketer and have had experience using other email marketing platforms previous to using MailChimp, you may find MailChimp's unique "language" somewhat challenging to wrap your head around to begin with. It is designed to make it easier to use by using everyday language you or I would use in a conversation together. It can also be challenging if you are trying to dig up a very specific piece of data - MailChimp's defaults can be frustrating to work around. It is designed for a beginner marketer. Cons There is a rule for everything on the app. You can't send to everyone in you list at once you have to choose specific groups also youre judged if people don't open your emails. Cons I used the free version for a long time and loved everything about it. They recently tighten up on what the free version gives you, so now I need the paid version to get much out of it. That replied very quickly and late into the evening. I have a perfect answer to what I was doing wrong and was given step by step, pictoral, instructions how to resolve it. Pros I love the ability to do everything you need for free. You can use this software to capture email addresses of potential clients/readers, arrange a thank page that will allow you to offer additional sales, and personalize the way each email or notification shows up for your client. Cons There is some difficulty that I ran into, with knowing how connect my free eBook with the MailChimp email, so that everyone that signs up for my newsletter would get both the correct email and the correct eBook. I had to pay for the lower level tier service, around $9, to get technical support. That really is reasonable, but they will charge you every month if you don't downgrade you're service to the free level. The idea is that you build up your list of readers/clients until you need to pay for service and additionally large lists. Pros Building an email list and getting your newsletter out is time-consuming and can be a difficult (and expensive process). Mailchimp solves this problem for small lists by provided a relatively easy to use platform that provides free and lower cost service plans. The user interface is straightforward and enables the user to create well-designed newsletter without any underlying tech knowledge. Cons As your list increases, Mailchimp becomes less cost effective and can quickly be outgrown. Integrations are also all at an additional cost, so if you want to trigger sequences, use Zapier, etc, you'll need to pay a premium for those options. Additionally, some report that the image and format heavy nature of Mailchimp lands newsletter in spam more frequently.
