Pros It is a cheaper alternative to use compared to setting up hubspot. It easy to crate email campaigns and send but anything more complicated or on a large scale, it struggles. Cons It is not good at filtering or cleansing data. it does not even make it easy to ensure your data is cleansed or captured correctly in the first place. It has very limited stats and insights and only segments by audience so it is very difficult to do any side by side comparisons. It has lots of bugs in the designs and previews don't reflect what you have built. July 20, 2018 5.0 MailChimp is a welcome tool for just about any Marketing campaign! The automation it provides will save you a lot of time and effort so you can focus on managing the leads. The reporting tool is pretty comprehensive and the Forever Free Plan is worth giving a try. The Pro features that come with the paid plans are worth it as well, especially for crucial marketing periods during the fiscal year. Pros We used to send out marketing emails manually, batch by batch, divide and conquer among our staff. Using MailChimp saved us a lot of time and effort by allowing us to automate the sending of emails, and even track the effectiveness of the content and automate some scripted replies. Another thing I liked the most is that MailChimp provides 15 templates to start with (instead of having to build from scratch). For beginners and those who are hesistant, the Forever Free Plan allows you to have up to 2,500 subscribers and to send out up to 12,000 emails/month. That's quite a lot already especially for small businesses. To reach out to a bigger audience, you may want to consider the paid plans. Sales and Marketing team will love its reporting tool to see the effectiveness of your campaign and email interaction from your target audience. It is also integrable to third-party apps and e-commerce platforms. Cons The template automations are great, but for more complex marketing workflows, we really had a difficult time (maybe because our correspondence is rather too complex and multi-step). There is a lot to do to get this launched for your small business. Once you take the time to set things up, you will be able to send professional looking campaigns. Everything costs more. Once you grow comfortable with the system and send a few campaigns out, if you're looking to optimize data you'll see the cost is real. Some of our families wanted to have two caregivers per family receive emails and the reality is many companies may only allow one per family because of the monthly cost to the business when you double your email sending list. I know that Mailchimp is capable of doing soooo much more than what I use it for. If I were more technically inclined, I am sure I would utilize it more fully. I would take more advantage of things like automations. Pros I like Mailchimp for the ease of creating newsletters. The interface is quite easy to use, even for beginners, and I like that I can see my drafts in both PC and mobile view, to make sure something doesn't get wonky on mobile. I like that Mailchimp integrates easily with Wordpress, and they make it so easy that even I can understand it. I also like the analytics. They are easy to understand and don't get overcomplicated. It takes just a quick look to see my open rates and click-throughs. Cons I get confused by the terminology used for the lists, or audiences as they now call them. In other similar apps, I am able to attach several different lists to one email. In Mailchimp, they want you to have one list with segments and tags, etc. and I find it time-consuming and confusing. Not enough templates to work with. And the ones they have have been there for a long time. Time to refresh! I don't like the lack of customer service available if you don't have a more premium account. No one really has the time to wait 24 hours or more for an answer to a question. Reason for choosing Mailchimp I felt that Mailchimp graphically overall looked cleaner, more modern and sophisticated. It's mainly design aesthetics for me. Formatting email campaigns for my mailing list is very easy, it also offers split-testing which allows me to quickly figure out which campaign is working best which helps me get more sales leads and conversions. You can count on Mailchimp to help you build a variety of templates that fits your subject without coding. It also helps you grow your email list and helps grow your subscribers' list. Cons I understand that the bigger the audience, the more it would cost, but once you're paying (2000+ audience) then there are more competitively priced products. Plus, the 2000+ audience numbers include unsubscribes, why? If someone unsubscribed, then why shouldn't my total number in my audience drop to only the ones that are actively receiving emails. May 18, 2019 3.0 Pros I've been a Mailchimp user for several years. Haven't used it a ton, but occasionally send out newsletter to a small audience of around 800 people. It's very easy to use, and comes with some starter templates, and an easy way to add some customizations. Deliverability has also been solid. From 2017-2019, they have been moving away from email marketing into a complete marketing, CRM, retargeting & ad management tool. Read on for why this has pushed me to another service. Cons I want an email marketing platform. One that stores my contacts, makes it easy to send emails, gets them to the inbox, and gives me basic stats. That's it. I'm willing to pay a small fee each month, but I'm not asking for a whole lot. I initially went with Mailchimp because many people \*used to\* recommend them, and they had a free plan for up to 2,000 contacts. They still have that 2,000 contact free plan, but they've been stripping features from it steadily over the past 2 years. And they even count unsubscribes against your contact count. Not to mention they are now counting test emails against your monthly sending limit. They are offering ad retargeting with Google & Facebook ads, giving you the ability to send postcards to customers, and everything is getting more complicated (their service, and their pricing). It doesn't seem to me like they're taking care of their big existing free user base (and hardly even their paid user base). They claim that users keep requesting they do more, but there's been a huge backlash (from users) with all these recent changes. Personally, and from a business standpoint, I'm not a fan. I'm in the process of researching an alternative. Leaning towards MailerLite, ActiveCampaign or SendInBlue, but haven't made a decision yet. Review Source Avash K. Saved us a lot of time by automating the sending or emails, including our prepared auto-replies. The analytics tool is very handy in analyzing the reach and effectiveness of our marketing campaign. Pros We needed to send our tons of emails for marketing and sales promotion of our recent international symposium. MailChimp helped us tons by handling the sending our of the emails, monitoring the receiver interaction (wherein we were able to automate certain auto-replies/categorization thereafter). Best feature for us: The Analytics Tool - very useful to see how many were reached, sent, received, clicked on a link, etc. 2nd Best feature: The Auto-responder - you can already set the script or logic of your email correspondence based on the expected replies and prepared email answers. And of course, for the small (perhaps up to medium-sized) businesses, the free plan may be workable for you. Until you decide to upgrade to a paid plan. Cons If you're looking at a very wide audience / number of subscribers... this service may come a bit pricey. But hey, more chances of sales success as well. So just balance it.
