Pros Mailchimp makes email marketing fun and simple. The templates provided are great for keeping your emails organized and easy to read. The automation is really helpful, and saves us time. And the analytics are great and then we know how to reach clients and customers. Cons Leveraging the landing page was pretty hard to do, so making that more automated and a bit simpler would be helpful. Pros I like that I could import database from an excel sheet, that it keeps track of the list and can tag and email to different segments of the list. It's free until you get a certain number of subscribers. Cons It does some weird things with non-subscribers or people who don't open emails, and I'm not sure how it decides and how to manage people it removes. December 1, 2020 5.0 We use this software sometimes daily, but multiple times per week to get in touch with our congregation. I came from another org where we used Constant Contact, which I preferred in many ways, but this is sufficient. Pros Easy to create and send emails which look professional. Cons Creating and managing groups or subsections of any kind in your audience! It's so confusing how to divide groups out in a way that you can easily select to email them -- graphic editing is clunky, especially figuring out how it will appear (you have to choose by pixel) in the finished window rather than just grabbing a corner to resize -- It is so non-intuitive to make anything like a stationary effect! The mandatory "body parts" all have to be assigned an image. -- Selecting parts of your article to be centered/justified/etc is often very frustrating and requires going in to HTML to edit -- No INDENT feature! So useful to make quotations! Again, have to edit in HTML. -- wish there was a way to cut and paste blocks from other campaigns you have sent or save them as blocks to insert. Their pricing structure is based on your list size, so it starts FREE if you have less than 1000 subscribers, and goes up from there. MailChimp connects to all of the internet's most popular content management systems and has a huge catalog of plugins to integrate with almost any site or software that collects email. (We use MailChimp on WordPress with WooCommerce and Gravity Forms, for instance, and MailChimp funnels all emails we collect into lists with their easy-to-use plugins for those platforms). Once your list is in MailChimp, you can easily create single emails to blast an email list, or set up multi-step email campaigns or drip campaigns/ post-purchase automations for eCommerce stores. It is easy for anyone to use without any knowledge of HTML with their drag-and-drop email builder. Cons It can get expensive for large email lists (ours is around $350/month) and some larger businesses may find MailChimp constricting. Now I am seeing the value of such masterpiece in email automations. Pros I like the fact that MailChimp adds fun and hand-like artworks to represent certain stages and outcomes in their system. This is really intriguing to me. I noticed that MailChimp has started working on a new email design editor. Though still in a beta version, I am pretty in love with the look and feel already. I've used this new editor to send out over 3 email campaigns and it has outperformed it's expectations. Cons I previously had challenges with the classic editor, especially with finding simple things like where to locate header elements and even adjust added contents. I would like to see this improved in the new design editor. The email templates themselves are great looking and attract more traffic. Pros Email Marketing involves a lot of moving parts but Mailchimp can simplify the process. Uploading the contact list is easy and fast, as is putting the campaign together. Mailchimps templates are convenient and easy to customize. AI and automations help campaigns move smoothly.Mailchimp has a built in CRM that's very convenient. It also has A/B testing and insightful analytics.Customer journey builder seems very interesting although I've not deployed it yet. Features rich platform which provides all the essentials in one place. Pros This provides almost all the features an organization needs to automate emails and manage email marketing. The other most important factor was the integration with Zapier which provides tons of additional functionality. Cons Wait time for a response from customer service is from 24 to 48 hours. It always took me around 36 to 48 hours to receive a response. In times of urgency, it can cause serious issues and problems. Most organization don't have that much wait time on their hand and wants to solve the issues as soon as they can. My job has been to customize them, but they have a delicious starting point for the email marketing campaign to have creativity. Pros Mailchimp is one of the best marketing platforms I've ever seen. It's not a money machine, but it allows us to make the way to success. I like templates because they give me a professional look and I can customize them as a customer would love to see them. It's basically my job. It is an easy to set up software and I do not require a tutorial to learn how to use the tools. Cons The design of the reports is unattractive. Certainly the important thing is the numbers and statistics, but it doesn't give me the best face for a presentation. Even though I waste some time, that's when I come into action. The application provides - Graphs to show how many emails you're sending each day - What countries your sending the emails to - Open rates - Mail clients used (useful to optimise content) - Spam rates/unsubscribe rates - Great delivery rates Very cost effective. Cons A couple of years ago, Mandrill made it a requirement for you to have a Mailchimp subscription in order to use Mandrill. It would have been better in my opinion to keep the two applications independent, just like Sendgrid. Whilst it doesn't make the cost materially more expensive, it does mean that you have to log into Mandrill via Mailchimp which is annoying. Review Source James M. The web-based interface is easy to understand and use. The analytics are very helpful in understanding how well your emails are perceived by the recipients. I have tried other newsletter services but none of them have compared in ease-of-use or features to Mailchimp. Pros I like that it's easy to create newsletters so efficiently. There are many pre-made templates that you can use to save time. It's pretty much drag and drop after choosing your template. Drop images into the place holders and input your text. Once you've got all of your info in the newsletter / email layout, you choose the mailing list that you want to send it to and press GO. My favorite part is that you can see how many people opened your email, as well as how many people clicked on your links from within the email. There are also lots of Wordpress plugins that allow you to easily add a newsletter signup form to your website. Cons My account got flagged once for a reason that was never logically disclosed to me. There isn't a need for intense training as it is drag and drop. It allows us to identify men for specific contact and/or follow-up. Pros For smaller ministry - the free option is great Scheduling emails, ability to launch/design a campaign from the app on my phone Cons Many guys just forward the email they receive rather than use the forward to link. Occasionally someone who gets the forward clicks the unsubscribe in that email and it removes the contact from our list. Getting them back on can be a challenge as they must subscribe themselves. There isn't an "oops" option. With an RSS feed, we can 'set it and forget it' so we don't waste valuable time and resources, and the price is right. Pros Mailchimp is affordable, easy to use, and highly customizable. As an online news organization, we find the RSS feed option to be especially relevant and recommend it to other publishers regularly. WordPress and Broadstreet integration are also essential to us, which makes this even more valuable. Cons Mailchimp is free initially, but the more your list grows, the more you'll pay. Still, the rates are extremely affordable and can be easily justified by the impact. Pros Mailchimp was the first service I ever used for sending a lot of emails, I like how easy they make it to get started, and the range of email templates provided. Cons The thing I liked least was whilst emails normally hit inbox, they occasionally didn't which can be annoying. The price also isn't the most competitive if you are sending a large amount of emails. I can do this for free, as I have about 300 subscribers at the moment. Pros You can send emails to subscribers when you have a limited number of subscribers, which is nice for small businesses that do not have a lot of money. Easy to use. Connects to your website's landing page and adds subscribers to the MailChimp List when they sign up. Cons It puts the MailChimp logo at the bottom of the email when you don't pay for Mailchimp. But I can't get mad because I am not paying for Mailchimp when they are sending emails to subscribers (if you have a limited number). Pros In today's world, all businesses, authors, entrepreneurs, bloggers, basically everyone needs a way to manage their email lists. Mailchimp is fairly easy to learn how to use, making it a popular option for many small businesses and individuals. The pricing is competitive, and the features and customization options are a good value. The integration with virtually any website is also nice! Cons Perhaps the biggest drawback about Mailchimp is that the messages are notoriously likely to get stuck in email spam filters. There are ways to guard against it, but some email services really don't like email from Mailchimp. It was a little difficult to get used to using Mailchimp. Parts of the platform can be a little tricky to navigate the first few times, and it's not always intuitive where to find certain features. After your first few tries you get the hang of it. I do wish their reporting was easier to understand. I never encountered any issues with a lack of features when I used Mailchimp for startups or small businesses, however I could imagine our needs outgrowing it eventually. Larger businesses may want a more robust email automation tool. Pros It's an easy software to use and allows us to send and schedule mass emails for our marketing efforts. Duplicating campaigns and making edits are all easy using their campaign editor. Cons The segmentation tools could use some improvement. It is hard to segment and ensure you don't have overlap in some of your lists.
