The analytics are easy to follow and understand, which males tracking engagements and new subscribers a breeze, and the template choices as well as click and paste style customization options are really nice and super user friendly, even for folks who arent familiar with web design or online content creation. My boss was leery at first, as the cost of mailchimp is a bit high vs other services and products of it's kind. I was able to show him in black an white at the end of the free trial list how valuable an asset mailchimp was for our business. Pros With several options at varying prices, you can choose to use as simply a platform to send out email blasts/newsletters to your subscribers or go big and opt to automate most of your marketing needs. There are also varying levels of use in between. Mailchimp is awesome. Because you can customize the level of use based on company needs and budget. Cons It's a bit pricey. I had a hard time convincing the heads of the nonprofit where I work that this was a necessary expense. May 12, 2020 5.0 Great when you have a solid email list and base to start. Would recommend to startups because there is the free basic user experience that helps build up clients. We would like to see more demographics and more information on ROI. Pros Great for our startup company to create a mailing database that provides geotracking and outreach to our customer base. We like the feature that allows us to see if the customers have opened the mail so we know what is effective. Knowing what time customers open the mail is also effective so we can group by demographics. We also like that we can import from our current subscriber list so and bypass the opt-in feature. The customization of templates are nice, but having the support from mailchimp team to help with branding our emails specifically is even better! Cons The price point is reasonable for startups, but once you start hitting over 1000 customers then the price plan becomes a bit steep. If you're a company who is wanting to reach a large client list without having to empty out pockets then this may not be for you. Shopping for email service providers is like shopping for a home, you can't undo it easily. I am happy to have Mailchimp as my home for over 5 years. Pros Mailchimp is just easy to use and easy to get started. The API is very developer friendly if you want to get more advanced. The customer support is superb and has solved all my tickets fairly fast. You also get a discount for having 2-factor authentication which is lovely. Cons The only thing I don't like is when you grow, the unlimited sends end. So if you grow past a certain point it gets expensive and you need to clean your list frequently to save money. We definitely outgrew it when we expanded what we wanted to accomplish with email strategy, but it was a good starting point. Pros What I liked best about Mailchimp is how easy it is to you. The UX is simple, and for most small businesses this will suffice for your email needs. The price is great for what you get. Cons Mailchimp is definitely not as robust or sophisticated as other Email Marketing tools. So while it's great for campaign sends and getting email going for your business, I wouldn't recommend it for lifecycle journeys or transactionals. Thank you for such an amazing platform, and for all the new features that are rolling out. Pros As a marketing agency, we use Mailchimp on a regular basis, we create email marketing campaigns for our clients, we host also events for them, so newsletters play a major role in our weekly activities. Being able to check the analytics to report them to our clients is crucial in order to plan our next strategy. The UI is pretty clean and relatively easy to get into. To me Mailchimp is THE software for online communications and always has. Similarly as when you think of diapers you think Pampers, and when you think of shoes, you say "Adidas" (shout out to all my Polish peeps), when you think newsletters think none other than Mailchimp. Back in the day it used to have limitations, but as my business grew, so did Mailchimp and I can't be more thrilled about all the new addons and user friendly UIs. Even support team is very capable and understanding and will help you if you ever hit a snag. Cons I had some issues with managing my lists once. I was told by support staff that I can move my lists around and the price will not be affected, because it only matters how many users you have at the end of the month. That is not true. Duplicating over half a million users created quite a bit of a bump in the price for the month, but their support team was able to clear this up for me after few emails. Pros The fact that mailchimp allows me send to 2000 subscribers is a huge boost to my email marketing needs. I mean i could start an email marketing campaign without any money unlike some others where i have to pay a monthly subscriptionfor even the smallest subscriber. The deliverability rate of my emails with mailchimp is also commendable. Cons Ooh! The omnivore feature is so annoying! I have literally cried after one of my campaigns was hit. I messaged support and googled all the ways i could be free of the ban to no avail. Support never replied my messages. Pros The best part of this service is the ease of its drag and drop feature that allows you to create newsletters in a snap. The WYSWYG editor is familiar for most and easy to learn with the ability to customize with HTML. It can be as simple or as customized as you want it. Cons They haven't updated their templates in a long time, their focus on trying to be more than a newsletter service is making things a little complicated, and automation is unnecessarily complex. It took a few weeks of emails to get the hang of the functions, but now that I know where to go, I can create emails quickly and efficiently. I also like UI/UX of MailChimp, which is clean, simple and friendly. The language is fun but not overly cutesy, which is the tone de jour of software lately. The reporting and analytics are simple to read and understand, and I can send the reports to stakeholders quickly via email, so they have access. I love that they have integration with many of the popular CRMS. I haven't yet had a chance to dig into the more advanced features, but I'm eager to use the landing page options as well as social media integration. They also have a lot of helpful how-tos, and their customer support was quick and helpful. Of course, the low pricetag is a huge selling point for folks with limited marketing budgets. Cons I would like additional design tools for the emails. However, for new users or folks with limited design skills, MailChimp makes it very simple to create create polished emails. At our company, we use MailChimp landing pages in our Google Ads instead of our website, with the goal of more directly collecting leads. Customer chat support is available for paying customers and works very well. Easy to import merge and manage new contacts, which is helpful, and pretty straightforward. Pros It's free, relatively staightforward to use. They don's constantly revamp their interface, which means everything is where you left it if you only use it every 2-4 months Cons Many of my marketing emails end up going to junk, especially with gmail addressees. I have about a 1400 client list and send out about 5 or so emails a year, so I am in no way spamming people. I seems like something must be going on with how mailchimp and gmail interact, because I have people who want to get my marketing, and don't because gmail defaults it totheir junk mail. And this is coming from a real domain name and email, not some made up thing. In that way, I had better results when I just did a mail merge through Outlook/Word. And the lowest tier doesn't look really affordable for the small business. I'm not using anymore, there are better, smoother, less expensive alternatives on the marketplace. Pros It's a good starting point, with landing page builder and basic email management. They are fully integrated so setting them up is easy. Cons Too clunky, the UI is so slow and full of useless frills. Even if I tick on "keep me logged in for two weeks", the option doesn't work so I need to login every single time. Besides, the 2FA's only option is an SMS. Reason for choosing Mailchimp At that time, it seemed a better fit to my needs. I like the workflow and use it. Again, if it wasn't for Omnivore being unreliable, it would be so much better. It's like they're trying to cut the fat out and cut way into the muscle while doing so. Pros User friendly drag and drop interface when setting up an email that you want sent out. Love the scheduling and automated emails, which most email software has these days. Cons I used to use MailChimp exclusively until I have issues with uploading client's legitimate email addresses to the system. Their system uses 3rd party software called "Omnivore" to check the emails to see if they're legit, or just something like hr@... info@... which by the way ARE legitimate emails addresses that people use! Omnivore wants you to scrub out the offending email addresses before you can upload. Here's the hilarious part. We were finally able to upload a small list to them when we removed one of the client's own emails (it had a name preceding their domain named email). This is what makes me use other software. Pros There are a lot of things to be liked about this but the campaign creation and the ease of doing so is next level, I have used some other platforms offering same sort of service but trust me MailChimp is by far the easiest to design, modify, schedule and shoot out campaigns. Apart from this the tags make your life so easy while sending targeted campaigns. The reposting mechanism is awesome, the reports are detailed and will give you click and open ratio too along with the locations it was opened from. Cons The only thing that I personally found is that due to the massive use of MailChimp and marketing campaigns we have been having really low open rates, now this could also be due to junk/spam deliveries. Pros Everything about it is simple and easy. You can get started, set up your account, and send quality mail relatively quickly. I've used other email softwares that were a lot more complicated. Cons With the simplicity comes less features as well. Not a huge concern for beginners but if you're looking for some advanced marketing tools, I've found Mailchimp to lack a bit compared to other tools. Mailchimp is comparatively less expensive than the other tools so it is fairly priced.
