Pros: I really like how intuitive the software is for designers who are familiar with any standard design platform. I've been using Serif products for 9 years now and have always been impressed with how affordable and functional their design software has always been. They made design accessible to anyone in a market where design software pricing made it out of reach for many struggling graphic artists and designers. This newest offering is, in my opinion, superior to the industry standard vector offering, Adobe Illustrator. At a base level Affinity Designer offers all of the functionality of it's competition, with more ease of use and a much more affordable rate.

Cons: As Affinity Designer is still fairly new there are some small bugs, however, the Affinity support team works hard to address those and update the software often. Also, while most of the features are super intuitive the more advanced offerings can be harder to figure out. More tutorials offered by the company and the design community would be beneficial to allow people to really get all of the value that they can. The software is capable of so much but learning about those advanced features can be frustrating.

Overall: Awesome alternative to Adobe products, clean interface and makes my project flow much more efficient.

Pros: Adobe isn't exactly the most loved software company in the world right now, not even among designers who depend and even like its products. So if you dislike Adobe as much as I do, Serif's Affinity Designer has at least these things going for it: No subscriptions! Great, personal support! Engaged-with-the-community developers! Not built by a boring, unresponsive, impassive corporation that ignores its customers! But thankfully it's also a powerful and incredibly inexpensive piece of software. Stuff I really like:

1. Doesn't crash. I'm guessing that's because of good memory management, something I'm not sure Adobe has ever cared about.

2. Unlimited artboards! Yup, unlimited.

3. Split-screen and outline views with a keyboard shortcut. Nice!

4. Much, MUCH easier to work with pixels and vectors at the same time.

5. Did I mention that it's not Adobe?

Cons: Not as power-packed as Illustrator so some task still need Adobe, particularly for prepress. (For prototyping, you probably want Sketch.) Not as impressive as its sister application Affinity Photo. Proprietary format is obviously not an industry-standard like Adobe. No iPad app yet.

Pros: First and foremost, the cost of this app is stellar! You can't beat the price for what you're getting. AD is a vector and pixel based program and it's simplified workflows for those of us who wanted something different to the new subscriptions introduced by Adobe. I find AD really easy to jump into and use, and their tutorials out there are genuinely helpful, plus there are many 3rd party resources to help you learn more.

Cons: Since it's still a fairly new product, some features we may be used to in for example Illustrator, are not present. For one, I miss being able to do live traces and also I find the pathfinder functions work a little differently than they do in Illustrator.

Overall: Overall I've used Affinity Designer to create logos, website layout wireframes and mockups, pdf documents, and a bunch of other things. It's really fast and doesn't lag at all

Pros: It's an incredible app that has everything you need for designing, sketching, drawing and more! I't one of my favorite apps of the decade! All the features are amazing: the infinite zoom gives you precision, the smart guides are really smart, the layers panel, the tools, the view modes and more.

Serif really have achieved a masterpiece that competes directly with other vector graphics platforms.

Cons: It's a little limited on typography tools, and object effects as blending between shapes, gradient mesh and others are on my wishlist.

Overall: The fastest proffesional graphic design software, with great results and amazing speed using symbols.

Pros: It is one of the best companies in terms of web design, not only because it tries to help in all possible ways to its customers but also because it presents a wide variety of services and is extremely effective in each and every one of them, I recommend it 100%, currently it is very difficult to find a company as effective and fast as Affinity Designer. If you are thinking about working with this company let me tell you that you have nothing to think about and you should start doing it now, I recommend it 100% effective, fast, attentive, versatile .. it has everything a customer needs and knows how to use it ..

Cons: I really do not have any complaints about this company, I go alone with nice and good comments, because it is everything that the company left me, I am 100% satisfied and very happy to have worked with Affinity Designer without a doubt I will do it again a future .. Very good company and very good way of working, really admirable and recommended, I'm not disappointed even for a second. There should be more companies that do everything as simple as Affinity Designer does and treat clients' doubts and concerns in the same way that they do. It does not compare with anything, its treatment and attention to details are very good. Highly recommended

Pros: Designer, along with its brother Photo, makes the best out of a designer software, without the hustle and cost of a larger suite, such as Adobe CC. Every feature you are used to having on Illustrator you will find in Designer. The layout is very similar and with some name changes you are just at home. Additionally, Serif develops templates and themes that you can use just by being a registered user.

Cons: The only problem for most designers is to find where the usual tools (shadowing, rasterizing, among others) are located. Once you get familiarized with where is what, you are free.

Overall: Being able to pay for a licensed fully reliable software, at a reasonable price. Hey! It's a no-brainer.

Pros: Affinity designer is fresh, affordable and easy to use. It has the features one would need from an app like Illustrator and it doesn't feel like too much was crammed into it. Some of the way the interface works reminds me of CorelDraw which I really enjoyed using, but has become a bit dated and is not available on Mac. This is a great app for illustration work, and for print design like business card design. The separate vector and pixel personas keep tools organized well.

Cons: Affinity Designer isn't specifically designed to be used for UI design, while I'm fine with this, it would be interesting if in the future it could handle some of the features that applications like Sketch do that make it great for UI design. That said, I wouldn't want this if it made the app cluttered. Right now Affinity Designer is great because it is easy to get around.

Pros: The price, of course and the fact that it's easier to manipulate and more robust than other vector drawning programs. I tested it as a replacement of a well-known vector software, and fell in love with it. I use it every day, to nearly all the use you can imagine a such a tool. Really one of the best value you can find !

Cons: Nothing really, maybe, and that's a maybe, a lack of typo tools that other package have form a long time.

Pros: Originally purchased this as a more cost effective option for design (images/PDFs mainly). The features, functionality, and even shortcuts are very close to what I would get using an Adobe equivalent, but it's much more budget friendly and the support and dev team are phenomenal. They have an outstanding user/support community with quick responses and they are always keeping users up to date on what enhancements are coming next. I will enjoy seeing how this continues to grow and develop over time.

Cons: If you got in early, there were definitely some features that weren't there right away and could put users off. If you looked at this a few years ago and didn't go with it, I would strongly encourage anybody to try it, at minimum, if not go ahead and just purchase.

Pros: I make tshirt designs and Affinity designer is an incredibly effective tool for this. I regularly use it and find it to be almost as feature rich as adobe illustrator. Best of all, this is a one time fee for 50 dollars and you keep it for life. This is a great alternative to paying monthly for adobe products.

Also - the company is constantly looking to make improvements on the software and has an active user community.

Cons: Some features from adobe illustrator aren't out yet, namely line tracing and a few others. I hope they continue to work on this product.

Pros: Affinity Designer is very easy to use, especially if you've worked with products like Adobe Illustrator in the past. Tools are easy and intuitive to use and the ability to customize the UI so you only see the things you need really cleans up your work space. I love the variety of export methods and use of canvases. Another big pro is the ability to open several different file formats, including .ai.

Cons: It can take a little effort to setup your workspace the way you like it. It's not always easy to find out how to display a specific palette of functions via the main app menu. I prefer submenus in tool docs so I can see what tool palettes I can add directly.

Overall: I saved a lot of money by not having to pay a subscription model for bloated software. Affinity Designer gives me all the tools I need.

Pros: I love the vector based tools of this App. I used to be an avid user of Fireworks and when Adobe decided to kill it I kept looking for a good replacement that offers the best of both worlds: pixel based design and vector. So far Affinity Designer covered both and now I even feel more comfortable using it than I ever did in Fireworks.

Cons: Some text tools are still rudimentary but every update keeps getting better. For example they only caught up with vertical alignment on the last update and I'm sure they'll keep adding more details in the future.

Pros: I love the fact I can do 90% of things i would normally do with illustrator in affinity designer. I just wish they could add the image tracing feature so that I could finally make the switch for good as I did with photoshop -> affinity photo.

Pros: Affinity Designer has 99% of what I need from a vector editing tool. The UI is easy to work with and some things are actually easier to do with Designer than Illustrator.

Cons: I wish the expand stroke function was more accurate. The results are inconsistent and makes the feature essentially unusable since you cannot trust what it will output.

Overall: An affordable, feature-rich vector editor that gets frequent updates.

Pros: Intuitive tools, smart and simple layer controls, streamlined UI. The use of the machine resources is optimal and I particularly love the easy switch between Draw, Pixel and Export persona, that significantly accelerates the way I work. It is a one time purchase (not a subscription) so it has effectively replaced my previous vector illustrations editing software.

Cons: Export options are a little limited and it just misses a few key features to be able to replace my current publishing software and their announced Affinity Publisher keeps getting delayed. PDF export makes files that are heavier in filesize than other solutions, not an issue when exporting a PDF for print, but can be for PDFs for a website where each KB is key.

Pros: This software is perfect for new and professional designers. It's easy to learn and understand and can go toe to toe with the best design software at a much lower price point. If you are familiar with any other design software you'll quickly get the hang of Affinity Designer. In the tool selection you are spoilt for choice, if you can think it chances are this software has a tool to bring it to life. Pen tool, pencil tool for custom shapes, brush tool and gradient tool to name a few. Affinity is amazing I definitely recommend it to you.

Cons: This software is easy to use, cheaper than the closest competitor and does everything at the same level if not better, there isn't anything I can think of as draw back or that I like the least its a well thought out software and is perfect for the work I do.

Overall: The one major benefit and the reason I started using Affinity is the fact that its cheaper than Adobe Illustrator as you do only once-off payment compared to the monthly subscription you are tied to with Adobe.

Pros: Affinity is hands down the best design software on the market. It's affordable but oh so powerful. I've been using it since it came out and it just keeps getting better. As a designer that used Photoshop for a long time I was excited to see something better.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that they are still building up a user base so sometimes it's harder to find design resources made for Affinity.

Overall: Using Affinity Designer allowed me to work with vectors in a format similar to Adobe Photoshop.

Pros: One of the best things about Affinity Designer is the price. It's a one-time payment and the software is just as good as Adobe Illustrator. Also, all the shortcut keys you're already used to simply work.

Pros: Affinity Designer provides 80%+ of the functionality you get from professional graphic design programs at a small fraction of the cost.

Cons: Missing a few advanced features including custom workspace templates and support for multi-page documents

For a lifetime license (not a SaaS!!!) this will get you the vast majority of what you would ever need. Pros: The great fact is that I can just paid once and forget it. I don't have to be concerned about paid upgrades for in the future. And this is the most important factor that I had considered before investing on AD.

Modern and simple user interface to work with. It has got almost all the basic functions that Adobe Illustrator offers. Simple workflows and tools (and colourful icons as well) are readily found within the menu and tool sets. Also, in terms of certain workflows in designing graphics, it is actually more intuitive and I can achieve the same result with fewer steps.

AD had gained popularity and mass appeal users from notorious Adobe Illustrator and other graphic tools. It can do almost all kinds of design within the software.

Cons: What I found lacking is that it does not support plugins like Adobe Illustrator does. Also, it is not updated as frequent as Adobe Illustrator does. Certain complex design workflows may be not easily achievable within AD with a few steps. There is still room for improvement though for the software to be as powerful and even better than Illustrator.

Overall: Great alternative to Illustrator, and great time saver if Illustrator crashes my file! I can turn to Designer if Illustrator starts to misbehave!

Pros: Not everybody works as a full-time graphic designer. Some people need to develop infograpics or illustration from time to time, Affinity Designer was developed with these people in mind. It has the same features as competing suites but is 10x time less expensive.

Pros: Affinity Designer is a deeply-featured vector drawing software system on par with Adobe Illustrator at a fraction of the price.

Cons: Some of the features and functions of the tool feel a bit unnatural if you are converting over from Illustrator, so it will take some getting used to, but it is worth it!

Overall: I have been using a very old (CD-era) copy of Adobe Illustrator because I could not get myself to pay the upgrade cost. Most of what I would need from a drawing program could be done with the basic toolset and wouldn't justify the cost of Illustrator. Although some online tools like Vectrr and Aviary are nice, they weren't deeply features, and frankly at times had performance issues. When Affinity Designer came along, it seems to have the power and stability of Illustrator without the expense. After giving it a try, I am very satisfied with the purchase. Although I am not a power-user, it does seem to be very deeply featured.

Pros: The price of Affinity is hard to beat -- I am an accidental graphic designer for smaller parts of my job and, with no formal education, training, or experience, I didn't want to make a large investment in the mainstream design software. Affinity can do everything that I could ever dream of and is a breeze to learn.

Cons: I wish there were more "tutorials" in the software itself, but that's likely only because I had no idea what I was doing when I first started using Affinity. After diving in, the software is quite user friendly!

Overall: A cost-effective solution to mainstream design packages that offers all of the functionality one could ever need in designing.

Pros: Affinity Designer is high-class software. It has every feature that you would ever need for designing vector-based artwork. Unlike Illustrator, Affinity Designer *also* has a powerful raster-art mode (called a "persona") that allows you to mix vector and raster art effortlessly. It's really a joy to use.

Cons: As with any complex software, there is a learning curve. Affinity makes it easier to learn Designer by way of several videos that you may watch. They also have a workbook that you can buy, if you'd like to follow along with a project-based approach to learning. Lynda.com also has a nice video series on Affinity Designer.

Pros: Works extremely fluently on mac and the interface is well adopted.

After checking different alternatives (free and paid ones) I've found this one to have the best balance of functionality and price. Hope that the company will keep the no-subscription pricing model as well as reasonable price tag in future.

Cons: The most annoying thing is the default save in the own format. As a programmer I can understand the reasons for that, but still if I'm making minor changes to a file, it makes sense to keep the original format. At least try proposing to save in different one, but keep the original one with default selection. The 'save' hotkey is usually used automatically and here you need to go through export...

Pros: You can create logos, business cards, images for marketing use, or for websites, and of course it allows you to retouch photos. The quality is amazing, the finish product is good for web use as for printing. I did our business cards and they looked great. We created a bunch of images for our website and they look amazing. Most of the tools are easy to get them to work, you can naturally tell what they're for and how to use them.

Cons: Some tools were a little hard to get the hang of it (if you're not a professional) and it takes some time to learn how to use them properly, but once you get it, your images will have a professional look.

Overall: Good quality images. Easy to use, it takes some time to learn to use the tools you don't know but once you learned they are very easy to use them. You can create anything you want, I've created business cards, images for our website and retouched family pictures on it as well. Images have a professional look when finished.

Pros: This application can be used for any type of graphic design and comes closest to being a replacement for Adobe Illustrator. The great news with this, is however, that there is no subscription fee. It is buy once (and a very reasonable price at that), use forever. It has almost all features you are familiar with and can be used for sketching/prototyping to production-grade design work.

Cons: The people at Serif have made some intentional changes to the GUI, which makes the first few hours abit tiresome trying to find each feature. Once that learning period is over, however, it is just as responsive as Adobe Illustrator.

Overall: We use this application as our main design tool to create everything from prototypes to logos.

Pros: I'm thoroughly impressed with how stable and enjoyable Affinity Designer is to use. It's extremely powerful. I absolutely love that one can use this solution to create scalar AND vector images. The export options are fantastic, and the program offers epic value relative to its price.

Cons: I wish there were instant support, but given its competitive price point, I can absolutely understand why that may not be feasible.

Overall: Affinity designer is a robust, delightful graphics application that's helped me business significantly over the past year or two

Pros: is not a heavy software to use. And ha a higher level of improvement and refinement against Illustrator. PRICE is the best for your money.

Cons: Is not that intuitive, and you really need to learn it and its curve is long, so be patient. No integration with PANTONE.

Overall: I have a great option to substitute Illustrator at better price

I haven't used this a lot, mostly dabbled with it, but it seems pretty decent.

Pros: The cost is for sure a big selling point for this program, but it is pretty good overall too. I have a coworker who loves it and so I have some experience with it through him. There are things with it that seem a little off, but things that also seem a lot better than other programs. It overall seems pretty comparable to Illustrator.

Cons: To me, some of it seems a little less intuitive than Illustrator, and although it has a lot of great stuff, I just don't like it quite as much because of those things. I know that if I spent some more time getting to know it better, I may not feel that way as much, but it definitely just feels a little lower quality and user-friendly than Illustrator.

Pros: One time fee like any desktop app, it's easy to use, really good performance and it will allow you to move out of the Adobe monthly fees.

This isn't just a replacement, it's a great software by its own and allows you to create awesome pieces of art with vectors.

Cons: There's nothing that I don't like, of course, there's a learning curve and can be hard to forget the hotkeys and the ways of previous tools that you used for the same purpose, but once you get the hang of how it works it's a one way ticket and you won't look back.

Overall: Great value of the price, you can do whatever you do with more expensive tools. Do more or the same by paying less, who can beat that?

Pros: It is a powerful and versatile design tool that allows you to design, retouch images, and create graphic vectors, you only have to pay once, and its features make it one of the best and most complete softwares in the graphic market

Cons: The only drawback of this software, is that there are no precision tools or shape building, it is a bit basic, but it is still a very complete program

Overall: I learned how to use this software and the experience was very positive and professional for my career

Pros: First of all, the cost is very low, if compared with Adobe softwares. Affinity is a very good design software, very intuitive and beautiful. One of the best features is the possibility of editing bitmaps and vector at the same time, in the same workspace. That's just great.

Cons: There's only one thing I missed: support to touch workspace. For people who work with illustration, it's a great function.

Overall: Very good, a great software.

Pros: Price/Value is crazy for this product. As a Web Developer the need to open AI files and that is all was tough to justify the larger Adobe CC cost. So when Designer came out, the EPS/AI support ability to open, modify and export as SVG was a life saver! I barely scratch the surface of the potential of this product but even as a non artistic technical person I found great use from this product!

Cons: The learning curve of any vector product is rough. It really takes time to learn the features and because it is often directly compared to it's adobe counterpart , you may have a tough time switching.

Pros: Affinity Designer is a great tool for graphic design. It offers pretty much all the features you want and the cost is very affordable. I've used Gimp, Pixelmator, and Photoshop but compare the cost and features, Affinity Designer wins.

Cons: So far there's nothing I don't like because it does what it should. I guess if I had to pick something, perhaps it needs more addon brushes etc.

Overall: Cost saving, and ease of use. I love it!

Pros: I really like being able to move between pixel work and vector work. It's a very fast and fluid piece of software with amazing zoom ability. Another feature I particularly like is the way it uses masks. Making it very quick to add or take things out of the mask. For the price this is a such a great product and even better it's not lumbered with a silly subscription. Basically it does 99% of what InDesign does but for the price of a few weeks InDesign subscription.

Cons: Currently it has two issues for me. One is solvable the other I don't think is. The first one I can get around is drop caps. The solution is a bit clumsy but works. The second one I can't get around, and that's linking text boxes.

Overall: It's a great price and works for me as I use design software on and off. Therefore the subscription model just doesn't work. The software itself is fast and very intuitive.

Pros: Price. You can't beat a one-time purchase. That is the biggest selling point of this software. I currently subscribe to Adobe CC, and actively looking for ways to switch.

Cons: Learning Curve. I can't even begin to talk about the learning curve involved. [Inkscape] has less of a learning curve, and it is free. The Affinity team needs to work on their keyboard shortcuts and improve them.

Overall: I still love Affinity. I believe it is worth every penny, especially with no background in Adobe. Keep up the great work!

Pros: Sure, this product has a great potential to be Illustrator worthy. For one, it has a lot of the great features of it's competitor Adobe product, But then you would still need to find another program to complete something that Illustrator does all in one. Yet, Affordable.

Cons: Although they have all the Artboards you need, it won't replace illustrator completely. But I would recommend this product based on the fact it can get some simple designs done for less.

Pros: I love that I can get a full-functioning design software for my Mac without spending a ton of money on Adobe. Affinity is one of the best reviewed and functioning options out there.

Cons: It's a learning curve. I've used Pixelmator for a while, and got Affinity Designer for the projects that it's more applicable for, but honestly haven't taken the time to learn how to use it better. Just the learning curve is a con- but that's with any new software.

Pros: Affinity Designer is a powerful software package used by professional graphic designers. I'm a dabbler with training in graphic design. I bought this software to help me with making graphics for my personal website. I'm sure I don't use it to even half of it's potential, but even for a light user, it works well and is fairly easy to figure out.

Cons: There are so many options available, it's probably too powerful for my needs. I don't like having to spend 30 minutes figuring out how to create the shape I want. Overall, I can't complain since I chose the software over some simpler packages that had more limitations.

Pros: There are times when we need to deal with vector illustrations. Adobe Illustrator was considered and then I found Affinity Designer. It is a reasonably priced alternative and offers all of the features we need for graphic design. This isn't a subscription based software, so after you try it you can buy it. Before purchasing this software we were hiring third-party designers to do the tasks that can now be done with Affinity Designer. Saves us money and time waiting for projects to be done.

Cons: There's a lot to it and not not as intuitive as other software programs that I have used. But the good news is there is a book you can purchase Affinity Designer Workbook which offers step by step instructions.

Overall: Saves time and money with graphic design projects.

Pros: It's a very software for designer. Affinity Designer is a great option to vectorize and graph.

Cons: No batch processing. Considering that Affinity costs about 1/2 of the price of Photoshop and Lightroom and Affinity will probably come out with new versions every year that require purchase, you aren't really saving that much if you are spending any serious amount of time on your photos.

Pros: I love how Affinity has changed the market by putting out an Illustrator Competitor for Vector Graphics. It seemed very familiar to the AI/Adobe environment and played nicely with their file format.

Cons: I still feel like the software lacks a complete feature-to-feature set for Adobe but understandably so as it's a new market for them. I also was unable to see how this integration played with a tablet device of my own like an Ipad.

Great Value and solid Adobe replacement.

Pros: The bes thing about Affinity Designer is the value! A great product with many features that allow it to replace Adobe Illustrator.

Cons: Boy, is it difficult to learn something new after years of using Adobe. There are so many functions that it can be overwhelming.

Capterra-loader

Finally a Photoshop competitor worthy of trying.

Pros: It does everything essential, plus uses way less resources and is much faster than Photoshop. I seriously could see switching from PS to Affinity, especially since it can open PSD files

Cons: It's a completely different UI than Photoshop, so it will take a little bit of learning time to get used to. But so far no disadvantages that I can see.

Pros: The first thing you may notice, especially if you are a freelance designer, is a very fordable price.

The second thing - very well done interface with plenty of tools ans similar lines to leading vector programs you probably already know.

Cons: Not that efficient when used for prepress and when forking with typography.

Pros: Great choice for any graphic designer, no matter if you're designing tiny icons or large illustrations. Very good alternative if you can't afford to buy Adobe subscription :)

Cons: Pretty hard to learn all it's features because learning curve is quite high. Probably this happen because of lack of quality courses.

Worked well with simple designs. Tricky to learn where things are on the program

Pros: Modern looking. Many options to design and multiple formats to export to. User is able to perform basic and complicated designs.

Cons: Learning curve is a little steep. There doesn't seem to be a good tutorial for this software. More templates would be great too!

Overall: Designing your own stuff

Pros: If you're not an industry professional then this program will suite you just fine. It's a one time payment without the cloud costs every months.

Cons: Not the industry standard so if you want to share vector files this might not be your best option.

Pros: Affinity Designer is the best vector graphics authoring platform I have used. I have used Illustrator for years and even tried open source options like GIMP and Inkscape. Affinity allows me to take existing .ai files, import them, edit and export in a variety of formats. Best of all, its a one time fee .

Cons: The ONLY feature this program is missing is Live Trace, and frankly, live trace is the only reason I still have Illustrator installed

Overall: Affinity Designer is a powerful tool that is easy to use, even for beginners.
