May 23, 2017 5.0 Impressive visibility into the state and health of my projects and organization, greatly increased resource management capabilities. Pros Master resource planning module, combined with built in BI Tool (Insights) offers users impressive data analytics functionality. Cons The only con that I can identify with the software is that it is not extremely customizable, but that is by design. You can easily report on all data you input, which is a gray feature that not all systems make easy. It has improved our project control and reporting and allowed us to engage our Clients. We stopped using Clarizen as soon as we found Mavenlink and are now weening ourselves and our clients off Basecamp. Mavenlink covers both deep PM features and functionality with an ease of use that allows clients to see what is happening without need to get involved with the 'how'. Whilst the product isn't 100% perfect - it is heads above other products that I have used and reviewed. Cons Needs a company/team calendar function. You need to be able to block out users absence / holidays / etc. easily - and Mavenlink doesn't handle that without having to set up an 'absence' project. It increases our team efficiency, improves quality of time tracking, and makes data for decision making by managers more organized and accessible. Cons One of their greatest strengths can also be a weakness. They continually roll out meaningful upgrades. My experience is they are well tested, but sometimes the changes require people to adapt to a new way of accessing the same information. You need to be willing to adapt with it. Pros One of the nice features of Mavenlink is the ability to track time entries from a Chrome browser plugin without needing to go to the full Mavenlink site. The mobile site is fairly intuitive and operates flawlessly. Cons Mavenlink is a bit limited in terms of the number of tiered child tasks that can be created. Cons The few hiccups are just editing hours on an item I've already added to my timesheet. To delete a an item I feel like it takes too many clicks. I think it ask "are you sure you want to delete" and that feel extraneous to me. It would be nice to have a way inside the tool to be added to to project. Pros I like the ease of use and the efficiency and speed at which I can log my spent time in just about 3-4 minutes. As such, I reviewed their existing PM software and tested other options to find the best fit for their needs. They'd been subscribing to Mavenlink for a few years but barely used it for anything but time sheets since the features and interface weren't quite working for them. So, Mavenlink was very expensive for what they were getting out of it. After trying out a more robust use of Mavenlink AND other software including Monday, Float, Wrike, ZoHo, Teamwork and more... we landed on Avaza and have been happy with it so far. Pros I liked the very clear left hand navigation panel and the easy way to set up a project with budget information. Cons Our team wanted a calendar view of projects and more robust visibility to our resource utilization. Mavenlink didn't have the options we wanted. It's also expensive compared to other platforms. And, it's simply not as colorful as others, which was a consideration for our visually oriented team. The best choice really just depends on the combination of options you're looking for? She is very responsive and helpful and does an excellent job ensuring all my questions are answered in a timely fashion. Pros Tracking utilization and budget against projects is my main objective. I find Mavenlink to assist greatly with these tasks. Cons My current struggle is with the task and timeline. However, the sales team is really good and accommodating so if there is a good fit with your project, they'll help you find it. Pros The customer support team seemed really good and the web interface was very polished. I can see it working well for a group that focuses on just one large project. Cons It was not a good fit for my team, which focuses on a large number of medium-sized projects. The software was good but it felt like they tried to pack in too many features, so some of it was overwhelming and for managing day-to-day tasks the process was a bit cumbersome.
