Pros I do not enjoy using Mavenlink, the platform is very convoluted and does not allow administrators to open up the proper visibility to team members. Cons Mavenlink is extremely poorly designed and does not equip our teams with the ability to effectively use our data to inform business. The Add-on Insights reporting tool is a good addition to the standard reporting tool that the application come with that help further dissect and analysis the data to help us forecast and understand what activities our consultants are working on in a real-time basis. Pros A Clean UI interface with reporting capability are the two key factors why we chosen Mavenlink over other competitor. I manage roughly 30 projects at a time. Mavenlink is one of the only platforms that cleanly consolidates the progress/action of each of the projects in a clean dashboard. Additionally, as a vendor, Mavenlink's webinars have been helpful with getting up to speed with every new feature they roll out. Cons This is the same as above. Mavenlink has so many features that its easy to lose focus or want to change how you have a project set up. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The mobile app / site is not that user friendly and lacks a handful of features. The software is much more powerful than our previous project management software without much added complexity. We are a small agency with a backlog, so the utilization and planning portions of the software help out immensely. I also like that the product integrates with Google Apps, and the chrome web extension is helpful as well. The company continues to better the product. We've had the software for less than 6 months, and they've already made two updates with new/better features. Cons A lot of this stuff is just being picky, but: the mobile version of the site is usable, but not as intuitive as the desktop version. As far as I know there is no native mobile app. There are several times where you jump from one screen to another when it would be nice if you could record data directly on the current screen (time tracking for example). Some features seem like they should go together but are not necessarily interconnected (task estimates and scheduling for utilization would be an example). Which is nice – the product allows me to track time in multiple ways, and I don't feel too restricted. Editing time entries is also quick and easy. Cons Though the demo videos/webinars provided by Mavenlink are helpful, there aren't any guided walkthroughs for when you use the system as a new user. So if you don't put in the time and effort to find your way around, this could be off-putting (at least for some). Little hints, tips, and highlights of things easily missed could be really helpful, especially as (for some new users) there's already a lot of information to digest. Review Source JH Jack H. Founder Used the software for: ### "Overall, a great project management tool" March 9, 2015 5.0 Mavenlink is great for keeping track of projects. The tools saves me countless hours of having to track projects with spreadsheets, email or a desktop tool. They are constantly releasing new features and their support is always available and helpful. I love the integrated time and expense feature, gantt chart, project overview, analytics, and API (though I haven't given the API a run as yet). Its great that my customers can sign in and communicate with us. No more searching through email conversations. The only thing missing is a basic CRM for keeping track of customers, the ability to modify the number of hours in a day, and the ability to force users to select a task when submitting time. The groups feature and custom fields partially fills the CRM void but switching between companies/groups means having to reset the filter. It would also be great if the application saved viewing preferences. I like to see all projects but once I open a project, the list defaults back to show the 10 most recently edited. Same thing goes for tasks with sub-tasks. I like to see all sub-tasks but once I switch to something else, I have to manually expand each tasks with sub-tasks. The project management features were nice and it helped streamline our resource allocation for staff time. Cons The initial onboarding process was slow and our team was reluctant to continue using Mavenlink as it was not able to integrate with Quickbooks and we ended up having to double our time/expense tracking for accounting purposes. Cons There's not much to dislike. I'd like to see a more robust file storage capability so our clients can access documents through a tiered folder structure.
