Clients can communicate by email or by logging in. The task management was great it allowed users to check off completed tasks. Cons Some of the email communication would get lost. Our clients appreciate the accurate status reports we can provide using Mavenlink. Pros We rely heavily on the software's built-in time management features to keep projects within budget. I like how it keeps client comms all in one place. Cons It's slower than death and clunky. When adding text to any field it seems like there's significant time for the text to render. I often find myself re-typing things because ML didn't catch it due to processing the last text box entry. The biggest thing for me is Mavenlink is not designed with colorblind people in mind. The color differentiation between statuses is extremely hard to differentiate at first glance. The color icons (Milestone, Task, Deliverable, Issue) are in a similar state. Mavenlink has Improved our project management, time tracking, resource planning and project accounting processes by integrating them into one system. This has enable us to manage projects and time more efficiently and has also improved visibility and control over resourcing. Pros Enabled us to simplify our time tracking, resource planning and project accounting processes and reporting by integrating them into one, common system of record. Required very little customization to implement. Cons Overall we are very happy with Mavenlink. Would like higher character limit for text in some notes fields Would also like to see more Microsoft Office 365 and MS Teams integration capabilities. Reason for choosing Kantata Mavenlink met most of our needs out of the box. It required very little customization. " April 20, 2017 4.0 The only things I would need Mavenlink to add is as follows: -Have some sort of instant messaging service between members on a project. -Allow us to private more than one person when sending messages using m.mavenlink.com. -Have a real app that we can download from PlayStore/ Windows App Store or any other app store so we can use the full functionality of Mavenlink through the app -Also in the future, we could have some sort of video conferencing ability for persons on a project to have virtual meetings. That would be a dream! Pros It allows my colleagues in different countries to be kept up to date on different aspects of the various projects. Cons No instant messaging. Compared to other systems I've used, Mavenlink has been the easiest to use both as a PM as well as a contributor. Pros \- The UI is fantastic and very intuitive - Collaborating at the project level has been helpful and productive - Having all key project information in one place is a huge plus - Timesheet management is so much more easier - Invoicing is easy now! - Assigning tasks and being able to see what's assigned to you is effective and efficient Cons The only Con I can think of is the inability to have the status of a project or the task drive accessibility. In other words, if a task is marked as complete (status), then resources wouldn't see it in their timesheet. It's great at keeping track of tasks for just about any business. You can have multiple sub-layers of tasks. There is built-in time-tracking available. You can invoice from the program when tied to 3rd-party invoicing tools (like QuickBooks) Cons The main con is that it's very expensive compared to very similar tools (that are arguably better performing). You have to pay for every user (even freelancers), which doesn't make sense in today's market. The design is a bit behind many competitors like Teamwork and Asana. Review Source KW Kathryn W. The people I've worked with there have been kind, helpful and have average to good customer service. Pros The stopwatch feature and the checklist feature Cons 1\. Cascade changes default to off 2. Having to update predecessor/task dependencies in gantt view 3. That the gantt view screen divider isn't sticky 4. You can't make bulk task assignment edits 5. You can't bulk edit tasks/select multiple and move them 6. Currently no feature to duplicate projects/tasks 7. Can't add delete multiple tasks when adding from a template without getting the "are you sure you want to delete" message 8. Capability for multiple users to mark a task as "done with my part" 9. Not being able to organize deliverables at the task level with task level folders 10. Lack of global search function 11. Resource scheduling - PTO will not automatically update project delivery dates 12. Resource planner doesn't allow task assignment if user isn't already added to the project 13. Can't see task predecessor relationship from Task View 14. No way to organize templates when you want to attach one, there's a long list 16. Can't edit task assignments in bulk from Gantt view 17. Can't log time directly to a task, it opens a new window 18. Copying tasks from one project to another - need to create a template first 19. Task Tracker defaults to closed parent tasks/can't easily view all tasks in a project 20. It may take longer to initially learn than some other options, but I think the extent of the customization would make it worth the time. Pros I've been shopping around for project management software recently and Mavenlink is a solid program. The amount of features and customization available is extensive and great for teams that like to organize minute details. I'm a big fan of the interface - it's one of the least cluttered and more intuitive ones I've come across. The program offers a lot in terms of client collaboration and transparency as well. Cons There's a bit of a steep learning curve to get the hang of all of the features, but that is to be expected with any program that offers an extensive amount of them. This capability is a "must have" for any enterprise-level account and is provided in all of the solutions I have used in the past (OpenAir, Changepoint, Sophity, to name a few.) Pros Good wide-ranging visibility on things across the agency. Very customizable. Cons A lot of complexities that get lost or are irrelevant to what we use it for. Other teams using the software have issues with reporting. There's plenty of features that are better suited for other disciplines or not used at all. It was necessary to have a central point of communication and we found Basecamp is a wonderful tool for small agency's/teams. The drawback for our agency using Basecamp was trying to manage complex task schedules and monitoring/measuring the efficiency of our resources. We simply outgrew Basecamp. Mavenlink easily handles complex project mgmt and tracks the time/expenses of your team. The data we're getting out of Mavenlink now that we have numerous completed projects is changing our agency. ML helps us focus on completing projects on-time and on-budget. Pros Mavenlink is a great place to keep all files, conversations, and time tracking in one interface. I enjoy collaborating with team members within the tool, while also being able to reference relevant files and attachments. Cons Mavenlink could have a calendar view for more visual people. I also don't like that the hours allocated to a project aren't reflecting the hours you have for yourself, but for anyone assigned on the task - this is confusing since one can just assume all those hours are for themselves. The side menu bar is very easy to navigate. I like the time entries/timesheet interface. It's easy to create invoices and expense reports as well. Cons Reporting isn't always that intuitive - I have the most questions for our admin when it comes to pulling reports. Maybe I just need to be better educated on this though.
