### "An essential HR tool for the new normal office"

Given we got onboard with BambooHR before the pandemic, the platform really helped us transition to a fully remote office once the quarantines began. We initially had the core BambooHR product together with their Performance Management solution, but added the timekeeping function once we shifted to working from home. This has helped us keep on top of all of our HR functions even while remote including sourcing and onboarding new employees during the pandemic.

Pros

BambooHR is very intuitive to use and supports a wide variety of HR functions. Being able to manage everything from timekeeping, 201 filing, leaves management, and performance management from a single platform has been a game-changer for us.

Cons

The platform is very US-centric, so some features aren't quite tailored for our use as a company based in Asia.

Pros

I did a lot of research on HRIS before choosing BambooHR. For those thinking about using BambooHR, really look at how your structure is set up and how you want it to work when the product goes live. For example, we have two divisions in two different locations. Both divisions are very unique and what one division needed the other did not. Getting this figured out before implementation will help alleviate the need for a lot of change once the system goes live. For our company, BambooHR was by far the best fit for us. The best thing about this product is the customization and the ease in which we were able to implement the system. From the time we decided to go with BambooHR to the time it was implemented and functional was a little over a month! My dedicated implementation specialist, Carol Brogdon was great to work with during the implementation of the system. I am not IT expert or tech person, and this was easy! The customization of the system allows (from the beginning) you to create a system in which each user can see as mush or as little of the information as needed. Since implementation, I have even been able to customize more information on the site that is specific to our needs with two different locations and divisions. The time off feature allows our employees to request time off from their smart phones or pc quickly and for our admin and foremen the calendar of "Who's Out" is extremely useful, especially for looking ahead and seeing who will be out on vacations or sick/holiday time. Anniversary dates and birthdays are visible and there is no longer a need to keep a spreadsheet with this information. The reports that can be generated on training, time off balances, licensing, etc has been a time saver. The ability to transform these reports into PDF, excel and even share custom reports as needed has been very beneficial to us. On-boarding, off-boarding, completing forms as needed has been extremely efficient utilizing the uploading of files and then setting up the signature templates (no more paper pushing or waiting for people to sign and return documents). Uploading files to share with all employees or just a few employees is also a great tool. We utilize the company announcements to send important information to some or all of our employees. The notes section has been invaluable for our managers to document information and if an employee moves to a new location, the new manager now has that information at their fingertips. Our employees can update their address, marital status, with-holdings, etc all from their dashboard. No longer do they have to wonder if the HR department has their most current information because they see what is on file for them with the company when they log in. We have yet to utilize the Job Openings component yet. This was a big draw, as we had experienced a large growth last year. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending) our hiring has tapered off, so we have not had the opportunity to try this out. As far as BambooHR responsiveness to any issues I have encountered, they have been very quick to resolve. I like that they are constantly trying to improve the product and take ideas and suggestions on areas of concern. This type of progressive thinking and action will make them and keep them a front runner in the HRIS world.

Cons

Like any product, the more you use it, the easier it seems. There were kinks to work out when we first went live. Permissions, setting up employee fields and email alerts all needed some tweeking, but again, the system and BambooHR support was great getting through the learning curve. I did opt to go with Maxwell health for the online health care enrollment piece and I have been live with BambooHR since January 2016 and I am still not live with Maxwell Health and do not know when I will be, so if you are thinking of that option, I would really look into other options as it does not seem to be as responsive or as dynamic as BambooHR despite what the sales pitch shows.

I am really happy that we chose BambooHR, it keeps me organized, it takes care of reminders, which it was a huge problem that I had before, having to remember each employee dates of hire, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, etc. I also like that all our locations are under the same platform, so it is really easy to find employee's information. You can also have all the documents signed electronically, which saves time, paper & trees! I definitely recommend it.

Pros

I like the fact that reminds you about everything! we were able to set up reminders for employee eligibility for benefits, for employee discounts, for evaluations and much more! I love that I can have the employee's information in one platform, including the staff in Madrid. We are able to communicate with everyone at the same time. I also like that the employee onboarding makes them part of the team immediately!

Cons

Sometimes is confusing where to find things. The implementation was a little rushed. We weren't able to go back and review items when we had doubts, it seems to be that the trainer has a schedule that they can't miss, even if you have questions.

### "BambooHR literally has everything our company requires."

Overall, it was a fantastic experience; hiring and tracking new employees was a breeze. We use Learning Management System (LMS) and integrating the two is straightforward. The app is useful for tracking time and work hours, especially since most of us work abroad. And security is top notch. We store people's information here, and we like how BambooHR performs security checks and locks on its own when you are not in front of your computer.

Pros

We previously used Time Doctor to track our time and for payroll. However, as the company expanded. We want a system that allows us to track all employees from their assessment/ job application to their onboarding. We can even send new hire packets to get them prepared for the job. This includes what they needed to do on their first day, what documents they needed to submit, and who they should contact. It's also easy to track time off request and UPTOs. BambooHR can also be integrated with LMS tools such as TalentLMS. As a user, the app is very useful; seeing your timesheet hours and pay period, as well as the payroll reminder, is a great feature.

Cons

The training section of BambooHR is a little complicated, and adding new training and categories is done alphabetically. As a result, having your own training roadmap and guidelines causes everything to become jumbled. When we asked their support team for help in resolving the issue, they were able to help us by manually assigning a number to each category. Another thing is, marking each training category as complete must be done one at a time. It takes a lot of effort, but it works.

Pros

I liked the custom features of nearly everything in the system. This made it easy to work with our existing structures and we built around that. The auto filing for signed policies was great, and the reminders for training needs was great for all employees, their supervisors, and the managers to ensure everything was on track for timelines and protocols.

Cons

The reporting features were not as extensive as I would have liked. Things may have changed, but the reports for specific and custom items was a little difficult. The customer service was mostly online or through their FAQs or videos which wasn't ideal if we were in a crisis situation, but overall a good product.

Please see what i like most about this software. And I refer people to it all the time in a FaceBook group I'm a part of (for Church Administrators).I'm still not happy with the difficulty in resolving issues and our onboarding was a disaster (some on us, some on Bamboo--however, we have worked beyond that)

Pros

Pretty much everything I have already stated--multiple viewers with accesses that can be limited or expanded, wonderful PTO tracking, great time tracking mechanism along with managerial approval, keeps everything--current employees, potential employees, applicants--all in one place with multiple viewing options

Cons

Sometimes it is difficult to resolve issues ourselves. We recently encountered a PTO entry issue that was not well explained and it required Bamboo staff to fix it--I don't like not being able to fix it ourselves.

Overall we have really benefitted from Bamboo. I think the next big thing for Bamboo would be to offer a scheduling tool within the software. They partner with another company in this as an alternative, but I believe Bamboo could utilize their amazing innovation and forwarding thinking capabilities to create a great scheduling tool.

Pros

We love the customer service Bamboo provides. 90% of the time I have someone helping me within 2 minutes. And they always know the answer. If what I am wanting to do is not an option, they push it up the line and a group reviews these requests constantly. Bamboo is always looking to improve their product, which I appreciate and I want to be a part of a company that is always looking forward to the future's possibilities.

Cons

Our main issue is with payroll. We would love to utilize it, but you can only have one tax ID. We have multiple tax IDs for multiple locations and employees cross over between them constantly. The work around was for us to have multiple Bamboo accounts to accommodate for the multiple tax IDs. But this is not cost efficient for us.

Overall it has been great. I love the surveys and the fact that we can see the comments helps us stay informed of employee satisfaction and has brought issues to light that might not have been noticed without the surveys.

Pros

It is graphically pleasing and there are some abilities to match your brand in the setup. However, it would be nice if the color range options were expanded so that the branding of the product can more closely meet the corporate branding guidelines. Additionally the on-boarding features are great, and since you can tighten up security, it allows us to give access to "onboarding teams" and has greatly enhanced the experience of newly hired workers.

Cons

I was hoping to use Bamboo for all HR functions, but the inability to import our payroll history was a deal breaker for us. We are using another product for payroll, cobra and benefit integration and initially thought it would replace Bamboo. However, we love the way Bamboo graphics presents information such as who is out for the day, so we will continue to use both programs.

Initially we hired a consultant who researched numerous products for us. Bamboo rated highest in dealing with the HR issues we had at the time which included recruitment, on-boarding, and performance management. We are using Paylocity for Payroll and Benefits.

### "BambooHR Makes My Job Easier"

BambooHR has helped us to streamline the onboarding process, tracking of employees, employee performance, and setting goals.

Pros

I like being able to use the reports in BambooHR to look at the different stats available. It makes my job so much easier to have those stats at my fingertips. I also like having all of the information about the staff in one place. I love the new-hire packet feature and being able to get all of that fun paperwork out of the way before a new employee comes for their first day. I also like the onboarding process which automatically sends out requests to the different departments for what they need to do to prepare for a new employee: issuing an access card, setting up the computer, providing keys, issuing a phone extension etc., etc. I also like the goals feature. I like that once a goal is set, BambooHR reminds the employee to work on their goal and updates the manager when the employee updates their goals.

Cons

It would be nice to be able to add custom fields for items that we track, and run reports on those fields.

I asked a some people to suggest software and a few of those people suggested BambooHR. After looking at three different software packages, it seemed that BambooHR was the best fit for our company.

We've been able to create tables to house our faculty credentials for tracking and reporting purposes. The signature documents and workflow has helped us reduce the time to create, email, and record faculty contract from several hours to 15 minutes. The eNPS survey has been a great way to monitor employee engagement every six months. We take the feedback provided in that survey and other communication channels and have made improvements in a number of areas that are important to staff and faculty.

Pros

If I were a Panda (HR Administrator), I'd eat BambooHR every day. It's delicious compared to other common HR software forage I've tried. The modern look and feel of BambooHR is terrific. Our staff love the look and ease of use. As a one person HR team with 250 employees, BambooHR makes payroll, performance management, time tracking, and attendance a breeze. Take a nibble and taste the difference!

Cons

The two items as an HR admin. that can be time consuming and a frustration are tracking training and benefit administration. It would be amazing if BambooHR would integrate with training platforms for single sign-on and training status updates on the employee profile. We use a third part benefits administration platform for benefits enrollment. They take care of the file feeds to carriers and billing. Any changes on that platform then must be updated in BambooHR for the deductions to roll over to payroll. The extra steps take time and can lead to error.

With the use of BambooHR, we're reducing paper-based documents and uploading it only. This is good because it can be accessed at any time and it is easier to keep track of documents rather than filing them. I am also able to run reports and customize it based on the information that I am looking for.

Pros

BambooHR is very user-friendly. It has a clean layout and can be customized based on the needs of the organization. The overall site is easy to navigate and has the tabs that I need to manage employee data. I like that the HRIS acts as an internal intranet site for employees.

Cons

Training tab - employees are not able to upload their own certificates. For example, if there are 6 mandatory training modules and I have 6 new hires, I would need to upload 36 files into their training tab. It's tedious and time consuming for the admin.Templates - while this is a smart feature, I think it should be broken down into two. One is for an actual template that applies to all staff (primarily forms). For contracts that require signature, it is not necessary to upload the contract as a template (since it's only used once) and request for the signature. With this, we usually use an external party to get the signatures from both parties and upload it into documents. It would be nice if this can be integrated in BambooHR so everything is in one place. Also, if the "contract" specified to an individual becomes a template, there is a risk of uploading/ sharing it by error to another employee.Cost - I wish there was an option for non-profit to save money on the software especially we're a smaller company. The cost increased a lot from July and it is also in USD which impacts the overall fee since we're a Canadian organization.

We currently use BambooHR as an HRIS, and previously used it as an ATS. The employee database software is user friendly, but offers no customization. We inevitably switched our ATS to a different software because of these same concerns.

Pros

It's very user friendly. You don't need to be very tech savvy to use the various features available in BambooHR.

Cons

There is no customization available. If a feature is not available, there is no customization available to help tailor this program to your companies needs.

Pros

The product is very easy to use. The customer support is incredible. The system is aesthetically pleasing. Bamboo listens to feedback and is always updating and releasing new features based on customer feedback.

Cons

Some features are not the most robust. Time tracking and reporting specifically. Bamboo does not have built-in scheduling. The employee notes feature could be more like applicant notes (replies, attachments, email notifications).

Working with BambooHR has been fantastic, and they continue to meet our needs. We are so happy with the decision to implement the platform that we transition our Time Tracking and Payroll over from ADP. We love their focus on continuous improvement and their outstanding customer service.

Pros

The platform is highly customizable. BambooHR has an outstanding customer service team. They continuously look to improve and add additional features to include a COVID-19 tab, employee satisfaction survey, Reporting, employee well-being survey, 360 performance reviews through adding the feedback functions and more. I love their monthly pulse survey and their webinars that educate administrators on how to meet employees needs.

Cons

Not being able to include the Executive Director/CEO in the Feedback Assessment process for performance management.

From initial contact through implementation, training and now usage, I give it 5 stars all around. Every single interaction with Bamboo Support has been nothing short of a great experience! And our employees love the ease of use of the mobile app.

Pros

I love the ease of use, the ability to collaborate with my teams on candidates, the fact that the employee can manage thier own PTO and that it allows us to store and manage all relevant information for employees in such a simple platform!

It's a step up from what our company was doing previously, but we definitely need to consider moving into a different HR software.

Pros

Once you finally construct an HR new hire packet to your liking, the rest of the process for onboarding is easy. PTO tracking is a simple feature to use as well.

Cons

\-The system does not flag a candidate with duplicate SSN's, ID information etc. This is a critical downfall. A candidate can create several duplicate profiles with different emails or phone numbers to get around being classified as "not eligible for rehire". If you use this system, please be sure your staff does their due diligence to compare similar names, and middle names. -Customer service is dreadful. Rather than specifically identifying your concern and providing a solution - your situation gets referenced to one of their articles. Then the ETA for an actual solution is left to ambiguity. -Their system bugs often; For example, I just cleared my inbox today, and it's still prompting me on open tasks needing my attention.

That the product can be used with ease, and very limited training. It's a plug and play software, that allows all levels of computer knowledge to use it with very little training.

Sometimes it has limitations on what it can do based on your needs, but there are endless work arounds.

Overall, our HR processes have been greatly improved with our move to BHR. Having various departments and locations, we needed a platform that would help us manage our staff in one place.

Pros

Moving to BambooHR was the best decision we made! With international staff, we needed something that would provide HR and management tools throughout the organization. We've been able to streamline and track all of our processes starting from recruiting/hiring to onboarding, performance reviews, time tracking, payroll, and communications across our various office locations. This platform does it all!!

Cons

I would say the only issues I've had so far is with benefits management/tracking as they do not sync with our broker so open enrollment was a bit more manual than it has been in the past for us. NOTE: BHR has come out with an update to help this process along, however I have not yet reviewed or looked into the update just yet. Another item is with reporting. While there are a ton of ways to customize reporting and many pre-made reporting options, I need a way to build a report that essentially merges the two types together so info I need can be done in just one report. Unfortunately, at this time it's not possible. I wish there were more freedoms/customization with pre-made reports (this is strictly with time sheet & salary reports)

My experience has been great. Without BambooHR I would be buried in paper files. I love having data in one location, it makes it easy to assist employees. Not only that but it adds a self service component for employees. They can update their personal information without needing HR or payroll services. BambooHR implements change on an on-going basis, they rollout a 30/30 video that shows what has changed and what is coming. Our team is excited to see what is coming next.

Pros

BambooHR is user friendly, everything flows, and makes sense. If you get stuck you can go to the help center, chat with someone, or pick up the phone. The mobile app allows employees to upload pictures of work notes and HR is notified when they do so. This has SAVED us during the pandemic.

Cons

HIRING- I would love to see an integrated calendar within hiring. Currently, if you schedule an appointment you also need to add to your outlook calendar. REPORTS- I would love to see an alphabetize by last name option with all reporting. Most HR and payroll work alphabetically.

I have implemented BambooHR as our primary HRIS system at 3 companies now. Bamboo is so intuitive training is a breeze. Whenever anything pops up I don't have an answer to Help desk is an IM away. Reporting cannot be beat. Hands down the easiest most intuitive HRIS our there for HR Professionals and Employees.

Cons

I wish there were more options within the review portal. Like having the ability to do quarterly assessments AND a formal annual assessment that combines all the quarterlies. Even though we have a quarterly assessment process at our Company people also want to traditional annual and we have to do that all manually outside of the system currently.

### "A great HR Management tool! "

I love BambooHR overall, I just really wish the price point was a bit more adaptable to company size and features being used overall.

Pros

I love that you can organize all of your team and the onboarding and training they receive in one place that you can access anywhere.

Cons

I wish I could use the software to its full capability (payroll, time tracking) and also that it was more affordable for smaller organizations. I barely use it for many months, but then when I do use it once or twice per year to recruit, hire, and onboard someone, it is GOLD.

The training and onboarding tools were a deal-breaker for me. I am a solo operation and needed help desperately with how to recruit, hire, onboard, and train my new team members. The other alternatives did not have a good enough solution for me to handle these things.

### "Great platform! "

My overall experience has been pretty great! Platform is simple and straight forward, which is great this day in age when so many companies make their platforms complicated.

Pros

A huge issue for us was knowing when people were going to take leave and the national holidays that the company observed. We had our office manager keep all this information in an excel sheet and our employees would have to send an email to their manager to request vacation, then the manager would having to bring in our office manager and then it was put on the calendar... And then if there were changes it was always complicated. This has stream lined this for us and has saved us a lot of time and headaches. We also really like the performance management to be able to keep track of goals and employee growth from quarters to quarter.

Cons

There are a couple of things I wish was easier when using the platform. Under the hiring section we can't find a way to add new templates or adjust the ones they have. Also you can't give additional permissions to collaborators which makes it hard to ask for help if you have to manually had in profiles, only the organizer and hiring lead can do that. Those are two big issues that we have been having as we are using the platform more as we expand.

I used it at my previous company and thought it was pretty easy to use and wanted to bring it to my new company.

### "Our First HRIS"

The organization had never had an HR department prior to my hire in September 2019; they were also 100% paper. Since using BHR we have been able to post simultaneously to our website and the partner website which increases our candidate pipeline and exposure. In addition, our onboarding functions have been transitioned to BHR which eliminates the emails and possible security breaches.

Pros

The ease of use; including the set-up and implementation. Also the Headcount report, invoice tracking, SparkHire and Employee Cycle Dashboards integrations and cost-efficiency were huge wins for my organization.

Cons

I would like to have a report which provides data on all of our open and on-hold vacancies. To accompany that I would also like to see a form or feature which is a position request for new or replacement roles. I'm currently using a form but to have everything housed in BHR would be much easier for HR and the hiring managers. This would also incentivize them to use the system more frequently.
