July 8, 2023 4.0 Overall, our experience has been good so far but we see its limitations and for now, we keep looking for something more tailor-made before we commit fully. (We are on free trial at the moment.) Pros Their sales representatives are helpful and concise.The user interface is intuitive and they have a plethora of support materials (as long as you are okay with figuring certain things out for yourself). All in all, BambooHR has the promise of making HR administration smooth sailing. Cons BambooHR is an out-of-the-box, rather rigid package that has been developed for and with the US market in mind. For a company based in Europe, while they do their best to cater for us, it comes with a few odd, cumbersome, uncustomizable bits here and there. The directory makes it easy to "meet" many of your coworkers including seeing their headshots, even before your first meeting. The Goals feature is always a great way to track your ongoing progress and serves as a helpful tool for supervisor 1-on- meetings. Cons Honestly I have no complaints about the features in BambooHR. Pros When I rolled BambooHR out to my team, I had several people confess their initial reaction was, "oh no not another program to learn!" but once they got in there they were pleasantly surprised by how intuitive and easy it is to learn. They've done their research and crafted a solution that's simple and elegant, actually kind of fun to use, and does what all HR professionals hope their solutions will do - it saves me time! My favorite functions are the Applicant Tracking System and On & Offboarding checklists. I never want to hire without them! BambooHR has excellent tutorials with screenshots and videos, and they provide webinars on best practices and getting the most out of thier platform. I can often find answers to my questions in their Help pages, but if not, I can email or call their support team and often get help right away. Their user support is unmatched. They could write the book on customer service for tech support professionals. Cons One of BambooHR's greatest strengths is its simplicity, but that also has its drawbacks. It's not as customizable as some other options on the market. There are some things I wish it could do that it doesn't. They are always making improvements though, and what they do have works great. I'd rather use a somewhat limited platform that works great than deal with a fully customizable one that doesn't work great, or that's difficult to learn and a pain to use. Review Source KR Kiran R. It made it simple for workers to submit documents, update their information, and sign documents all in one spot! Cons The applicant tracking system (ATS) should be improved by making it simpler to search for keywords or in resumes of candidates, for example. I would love to use or implement in my career . Pretty ease to use and implement also.Customer support is also good. Pros Easy navigation around the platform. Documents are available under your own profile.Can see who is vacation to plan the work well.Onboarding is the best feature to manage on this platform. Vacations management Cons The org chart representation could be better, it is a mess when you review org chart. With my access level, i can say above is the one only for now. Cons It would be nice to be able to create your own custom fields, but I understand why they don't allow that. It would also be great if you could report on time off balances in custom reports Reason for choosing BambooHR It had all the feature I needed, and more! Pros It is very user friendly for our employees , easy to navigate between folders and I like the fact we have a home page that shows when employees are off you, we added links and Birthdays and anniversaries. We are able to set up emails that go out quarterly letting an employee know how much PTO they have , engagement surveys etc. there is a lot of functionality to the software. Cons The back end and set up is easy for some things but we struggled with setting up the rules for PTO . Other then some of that it is easy to use. Review Source RD Roxanne D. Cons Nothing at this point, although I would like to use the payroll system but it is not specific enough for the country we are based in-it is a USA based payroll system. As an HR of one, the system is easy to maintain and easy to train others on. Pros Easy to use, implementation was painless with one-on-one support. Cons I wish it was more customizable on the the users end rather than having to put in tickets to have changes/additions made on the back-end. Employees being able to view detail of payroll and deductions is great. Pros Access by cell phone. It is very handy for me to approve time off requests and payroll hours for my employees. Cons We cannot get the payroll detail we need through Bamboo reporting. Data has to be dumped into Excel to get departmental and locations splits. It absolutely meets the needs of small to medium businesses with great value for your dollars. Pros The look and feel of the software. Great organization charts with clear view to all people in the company with employee pictures, (which are extremely helpful for new staff). Simple to navigate, easy to integrate and great for recruiting and onboarding. Ability to customize. Cons Limitations in undoing transactions made in error when booking time off. Limited and light reporting and analytics Staff have the ability to book time off even when no time off is available Reason for choosing BambooHR We liked the UX, the look and feel and the value for our money. In fact, everybody was working in their own way and it is very difficult to get everything arranged properly. Our staff enjoys the ability to punch in wherever they are working. Pros The overall number of features to come along with your account. Our Company's top uses include document storage for onboarding, staff directory, goal tracking, and ease of putting the HR process more in the hands of our staff. Cons The requirement of logging in every month is a hindrance at times but not overall problematic. Just create the template - email the employee and once they sign it you get an email that it has been completed and a copy is saved on the employee record. Pros I love the training tracking area. Makes it easy for the employee to see what training needs to be renewed and when the current certificate is expiring. Send email to the employee reminding them of upcoming training required. Cons I wish that their payroll processing was more robust. Also they need Health Benefits & Retirement packages so that it would be a one package deal. Review Source Donny H. The ability for hourly staff to input their time and have approvals be done electronically is super helpful. The onboarding piece is absolutely amazing. Posting positions and tracking applicants and candidates is so efficient. I don't know how we ever survived without BambooHR and Bamboo Hiring. The customer service is fantastic. Pros Makes nearly every HR-related task much easier. Saves so much time and makes the employee experience better to boot. Cons Would love ability to customize a greater amount of questions in the performance module, but it is still a terrific product. This has been an easy program to put in place and our managers use it daily to oversee everything from employment history to training to reviews and more. Cons I wish there was more flexibility to allow for multiple people to manage one employee. The linear style of organization has caused a bit of a challenge to us for those departments with multiple managers.
