ADP Total source helps me every month to find my payroll details, my leave counts, my exception and tax deduction information very easily from one portal. It is very simple to use just login, and it starts working.

Pros

Very convenient method of managing payroll. I like the feature that can login anytime and keep track on our salary records, HR, benefits across the things.

Cons

It's difficult to understand some of features like managing taxes. I would love if reports will become more easily for benefits. Customer support is not very responsive.

Overall, ADP gets the job done well. I haven't had many issues with ADP. We have been using ADP for the past 10+ years and had upgraded from their RUN system to TotalSource, which is much more comprehensive.

Pros

I like the support staff and that ADP covers all HR releated areas needed for a business. It does save you time having all the tools and ADP available throughout the day.

Cons

ADP is expensive, and the fees are not very transparent. This is the biggest concern that I have with ADP. They don't review fees with you at all, nor do they tell you when fees increase.

The overall experience was not good. We had to manage tax issues on our account, and we did not have a dedicated team. We ended up moving to Paycom.

Pros

I have worked with ADP RUN, Vantage, Workforce Now, TotalSource, and Major. I think TotalSource was the better of the HRIS systems we used, especially when we brought Payroll in-house and managed the comp benefits piece.

Cons

Several things were wrong with TotalSource. Customer Service was not strong with either ADP service; one hand did not know what the other hand was doing. We had to go through the whole implementation process because they are treated separately. Additionally, our implementation manager just stopped working or disappeared during implementation. Reporting was not robust.

A great tool that makes payroll pretty simple and managing staff a breeze. Our HR BP is the best and shows she cares about our experience and our staff.

Pros

Our HR Business Partner has been amazing to work with, \[sensitive content hidden\] The web portal is easy to use to managing staffing and payroll. Our employees enjoy the app for timekeeping.

Cons

Cases often take a long time to get a response, calling or e-mailing is much easier and faster than the Support tool. It's expensive for us, but often is worth it.

We are very pleased with ADP TotalSource overall and really like our "team" of HR and Payroll Specialists.

Pros

The best part about ADP TotalSource, besides the payroll service, is the enrollment of employees into benefit programs. As a small business, this takes a lot off my plate. I don't have to set reminders for enrollments since they reach out to the employee(s) directly. The same goes for our 401K program.

Cons

Our main gripe is the health insurance options. There are limited carriers and plans to choose from and, unfortunately, healthcare rates continue to soar. We're a 12 person company who pays 100% for our staff premiums. That comes out to roughly $9,500 per month for health insurance - and that doesn't include the GAP insurance we pay separately for our employees since the deductible is $5K per person! We originally joined the PEO hoping that being lumped into a larger pool of workers, we'd receive better health insurance and better rates! That is not the case. But that is due to our broken health insurance industry.

Our experience with ADP TotalSource has been amazing. Implementation was expedited for us, so that we could start the benefits as soon as possible. Pricing is great. I, as the HR Manager, have all the support that I need to do my job of making sure the company is compliant. We plan on partnering with TotalSource for the foreseeable future.

Pros

I love the amount of support that is available through TotalSource. If I have a question about anything pertaining to HR, all I need to do is ask and I receive an an answer very quickly.

Cons

Our company has been with TotalSource since March. So far, I have not really found a con about working with them. We have had absolutely no issues.

A positive relationship in our small family law business. Family law firms work with clients who are experiencing a challenge, it is our job in HR to make sure the staff are met with support from their payroll services and benefits teams and ADP TotalSource has been consistent with their positive support.

Pros

We have been using ADP TotalSource for years, the tutorials and support were important for our small business. We have had phases where we ran on autopilot and phases when we needed support for hiring and terminating employees and ADP Total Source was there to walk us through the steps.

Cons

I am a fan of ADP TotalSource, so finding cons is a challenge. The recent upgrade to the new platform has been difficult to navigate, even with the tutorials provided, so it can be time-consuming for certain tasks like balancing PTO and Sick time. However, I appreciate the chat feature that provides real-time support and direction when I find myself stuck completed a task.

### "The total source of frustration"

My predecessor chose ADP TS in a hope to streamline and consolidate all of the payroll, benefit administration and HR management into one platform. The TS platform is very clunky and not intuitive at all - whether it be the prep of payroll, the access of reports, trying to decide what benefits you want - none of it was easy. I have used ADP Total Run for other employers and it is so easy and while you don't have a dedicated team, you can chat with someone pretty quickly and get your questions answered. I always had a hard time getting my questions answered with TS. The cost per employee compared to ADP Run or any other platform I have used was much higher and I could not figure out what I was getting for all of the extra fees. Also, they bury their fees in the workers comp and benefit admin stuff so you can't tell how much you are actually paying. I think this may have been my worse payroll experience in my 40 years as an accountant.

Pros

Almost nothing. I found very little to like about their software or support.

Cons

The support we received from our "team"? It was a random list of names of folks you could never reach or get a response if you emailed them.

I don't love ADP, but the price is right. The service has gotten better in the last year.

Pros

One stop shopping for payroll, benefits, etc. Our benefits advisor is very responsive. The current payroll advisor is a significant improvement over the prior one. Service has improved in the last year; during COVID (2020) and for a few years after, it was often quite spotty.

Cons

Site is often difficult to navigate. Delays on getting clear information on tax items (e.g., ERTC, Mass PFML) and sometime on benefits information.

Good. Payroll processing is simple and clear. Employee profiles are easy to access and update. Time off accruals and balances are easy to see and understand. Benefit enrollment is simple and clear. Employee experience is simple. The layout is easy to navigate.

Pros

Employee profiles are easy to move around and find on an individual basis any information you need.

Cons

The Support case system. It is hard to tell what is the most recent additions to the case. It just isn't built for clear documented discussions on issues. It's like you found a ticket system and just bolted it on and didn't check it out to see what it looks like on the user end. Also reporting could be better. Things like adding date ranges for data should be easier to set up for custom reports. And if we need a report created it takes weeks to get it done. No fast turnaround for special reports. Also need to improve during benefit enrollment the setting up of beneficiaries and dependents and the distinction. Employees get it messed up and then have to go back and make changes when they set up dependents as beneficiaries. Maybe some additional detail or walk through questions to help them determine which is which.

There are ample sources and people who can help with whatever questions arise at almost any time, even when our dedicated rep is out of office

Cons

We’ve seen a bit of turnover in our reps. That’s part of life, but you do build a rapport with some of your reps and that can be a difficult adjustment.

Wonderful! All the ADP staff that I have interacted with from the start till now are knowledgeable and helpful.

Pros

It saves me time, which is the most important thing to me. The speed that I am now able to complete payroll allows me to have time access other tasks. The accuracy of employee time clock and the ability to monitor for overtime.

Cons

The learning curve for my employees, because they use to be able to write in their times if they forgot a punch in or out, but during the initial period they'd have to call me or their supervisor to correct their timecards till they figured out how to leave memos. Nothing other than that.

ADP has made efforts to streamline processes, which I appreciated. However, their customer support has been inconsistent. My experience with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) varied widely—from an excellent HRBP and payroll advisor, to one who provided questionable guidance, and finally to a newer HRBP who frequently had to consult with senior staff before offering support, often resulting in delays.

Pros

Quick access to resources and forms. Processing payroll was smooth, and submitting a ticket was easy.

Cons

customer service response time was an issue. I would have to send multiple follow up emails, taking 5+ days for guidance.

Pros

It can be costly, both for health insurance and the service itself.

50/50 What ADP does well it nails. I often am frustrated with the portal - where I need to go, why I can't get a phone call. Also, why can't you be transparent with fees?

Pros

The HR advise is priceless. There is no way I can stay on top of the changing labor laws by myself.

Cons

When you need something, rather than a call you get a link to a case. You have to go into your portal and if there are more questions, you email. I really want to have a conversation. Pricing is another sore spot. Why can't I get an itemized list of what my payment is covering - how much is unemployment, how much am I paying ADP for their service. Seems ADP doesn't want me to know what they cost.

ADP TotalSource has helped us to manage our human resources efficiently and professionally for 16 years! They were a shining light in the darkness during Covid shutdowns. ADP helped us to manage layoffs when closures first occurred and we were forced to downsize temporarily, as well as to navigate the PPP Loan Application process with easily accessible reports customized for this purpose.

Pros

ADP TotalSource makes it easy to offer top quality HR services and benefits to our employees. I am able to print reports, make changes and obtain information quickly and efficiently from their Human Resource Information System. Best of all, their representatives are just a phone call away if I have payroll questions, legal concerns, or safety issues!

Cons

There has been a major push to go paperless, and reports that used to arrive with our payroll now must be accessed online and printed in house.

Product is very reliable and always tons of detail available. Very helpful employees always at your service..

Cons

Writing new reports was tricky. When one writes reports only once in a while, it is difficult to remember the process.
