Its regrettable because we are deeply imbedded in Logic Monitor and much of our processes will need to be refactored with a new solution. Pros Flexible data sources is probably in my opinion the greatest feature of LM. Not only can you easily modify existing ones but write your own to monitor really anything that has an IP. Cons The incremental increase in cost is starting to push us to start look at doing some/all of our monitoring with other tooling. Additionally, the kubernetes cost model is encouraging us to bake monitoring software into our clusters and remove those clusters from Logic Monitor. April 4, 2025 4.0 It has been positive and we are glad we have it! It did not take long to add the servers we want to monitor, and we are enjoying all the options to monitor specific aspects we were not able to monitor before with our previous product. Pros The flexibility, the accuracy, the in depth things that can be checked on monitored with. There are many different type of alerts that seem limited by the users imagination. We monitor such infrastructure metrics such as CPU/Mem/Disk/Network/IO. The scripting is extremely powerful. Cons The learning curve is EXTREMELY steep! But that comes with the fact that the more flexibility a tool has, the more complicated it can be. The tool does not have the functionality of auto discovery, be it active or decommed servers. The script writing is a bit difficult to learn, but you can at least try to use the wizard that is built in. I did find their billing system difficult though and could never get the credit card info to display. Pros LogicMonitor can capture a wide variety of stats from endpoints. It is also easy to navigate and quick to respond. Cons It was incredibly complucated to do custom reports and charts. You can even embed apps such as security cameras into your NOC board. Alerting works well and allows for escalation stages and different paths/types of alerts. The history information for disks, CPU, and memory usage have helped track down issues and it can predict upcoming usage trends. The support you get from their team has always been above par and probably the best support from any product we have purchased. Cons The available widgets for their dashboard could use some visual additions and maybe an overhaul. I have seen some cool looking boards though if you put the time and effort in. Cons The hardest part was setting up a triage of alerts during business and non-business hours. It takes time to figure out the best way to handle spam-alerts due with a single device event that affects other devices in the stream. Easy to setup and use, provides timely alerts and good monitoring data overall. It supports all of the devices we need it to and their support is great. Pros LogicMonitor is an easy to use operational monitoring platform. We were able to quickly deploy it across our entire envirorment. Cons There are a few quickrs to the LogicMonitor UI. The alerts tab for the past few years has a different UI than the rest of the product. It's not a huge deal but at some point Logic needs to address that. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Senior IT Engineer Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "This software flagged up issues before they became issues allowing us to drastically reduce downtime" January 14, 2019 5.0 LogicMonitor has drastically increased the response time that we have when troubleshooting server related issues and provides huge oversight on all critical systems, often allowing us to fix problems because they affect the production environment. Whilst lacking when compared to the full version, the app does allow monitoring whilst on the go which can be useful when travelling home and a server develops a fault. Pros The dashboard can be heavily customised to allow for total flexibility on what we want to focus on. Alerts can be individually customised to allow for any level of contact ranging from email, to text, to phone calls at any time. On several occasions I have been woken up in the middle of the night in time to fix a major issue before it caused any downtime for the users. LogicMonitor can be installed on a host of different devices outside of servers (which is where we primarily use it). We have it installed on the server room temperature monitor providing early warning if the Air-Con goes down. We have it on the UPS where it tracks the remaining charge time to let us know how long we can maintain power in the event of a black out. We have it on the remote desktop server to show how many concurrent logons we have in order to track the performance to user ratio. In all of these events the tracking is extremely accurate and provides an extremely concise dashboard that allows us to monitor all of the most critical systems from one location. The alert system has on many occasions allowed us to fix issues before the user has become aware of them. Cons The mobile app requires significant work as it provides significantly lesser functionality than the full desktop version. The dashboard and alerts on it in particular need to be updated. Pros It is literally the best thing that I have ever used in forms of monitoring. That might be because it is the only thing i've ever used. It has been my greatest pleasure to consistently underutilized and not take advantage of the vast configuration and customization options that this software brings to the table. Any technician with alot of time and creativity could make this software literally do their job for them. Cons Basically, I wish the netscan was a little more informative. I need some heavy lifting done in that department. I want to be spoon fed information about devices discovered on the network, vendor, mac, etc by default and have logicmonitor make recommendations on what to add to the portal. Because lets face it, as a client with thousand of devices in LM i'm not going to start adding workstations.
