Pros It is integrated directly within Powerschool (SIS). I no longer have to setup exports nightly and I can execute a notification to students and parents to all or just a class or grade. Cons Onboard training was a little weak. We had to figure out most of it on our own, but with it being very easy to operate, we had no problems. We highly recommend it. Pros Some of the best things about Alert Solutions (vs. other school communication portals) is its integration with PowerSchool and the ability to send multiple text messages. Some others cap at 160 characters for 1 message but the multiple text feature allows for longer messages in that medium. Of course it supports email and phone as well. Cons Alert Solutions does require a familiarity/use of Power School, at least in the way our Archdiocese arranged it. If youre school doesn't use Power School you may need to contact them to see how contacts are set up and utilized. Pros SwiftK12 has been a great plug-in to our SIS system to support school communication goals. We have a more comprehensive mass communication system, however, that product did not allow for creating individualized attachments. SwiftK12 came to our rescue! It is a cost-effective solution to either be your main mass communication system or a supplement. It easily integrated with your SIS, pulls all user data, and is a simple to use interface. Cons I wish there was a way to make more professional-looking publications within the templates. Its great for a simple call/email communication tool but if you are looking to send out strategic newsletters or things of that sort you are going to need to do it through message attachments. Perhaps we should switch back... Pros Implementation was easy. It's just like any mass communication tool. We signed up because they "integrate" with PowerSchool, but the sync isn't as forthcoming as I would like. Cons We send emails occasionally and recently discovered that our emails to our gmail and yahoo parents are not making it to inboxes. Swift sent us a honey-do list of things to do such as update our SPF TXT record with domain provider and white IP addresses with our internet provider (turns out to be a bogus solution). We have followed their suggestions and still have a problem. I have spoken to multiple support agents and they are not friendly, quick to get me off the phone, and clearly reading troubleshooting forums without a clear understanding of the problem. They provided methods and eventually a new import tool that kept everything in sync. They helped troubleshoot some formatting issues (not on their end), and were there when we needed. When I was unavailable (new kid woohoo!), my substitute was able to make phone calls, and even ask for assistance when we had something misconfigured. It's just one of those systems that work, and that you can rely on. Pros It just works when you need it to, and if you goofed up, they answer the phone and help. That's what you really need. Cons It is difficult to find problems with SwiftK12, but import templates may need to be worked on with your account rep. But they are awesome and help out whenever you need.
