Pros: Provides an easy to use platform for communication and sharing. The relatively limited feature set keeps interacting with Yammer a straight forward experience. For our purposes Yammer provides a great substitute for the "Doctor's Lounge" that our physicians miss since we are a much larger organization than just a few years ago. Physicians can, in physician only environments, discuss patient cases and ask for advice and referrals to other specialists from a much larger community of their peers than are available at their physical location.

Cons: Because Yammer does not seem to have all the same connections to our AD database as other applications in Office 365 getting everyone onto the platform can be challenging. Creating and managing groups can be daunting as the platform is open. Controlling the types of communication on the platform can also be difficult and channel moderators have to stay vigilant. This does mean that the platform is creating new work for those staff chosen as channel moderators, and depending on adoption and usage this can be a significant commitment of time on a regular basis.

Pros: Yammer is a terrific way to communicate with people in your company when you don't have a traditional office setting, where employees work from different areas. You can have conversations and get up with people immediately, plus have various "buckets" to divide up work tasks, or have different networks for different departments. Uploaded and downloading is easy, and it's a repository for valuable files. To have a platform where everyone can be on the same page is invaluable. And with smart phones, pushes can allow one to be notified immediately of any update or conversation. Has similar feature to Facebook, so it's easy to learn. Again, a great virtual office!

Cons: Honestly, there are very few cons, sometimes it won't let you upload or download items, but that is a rare occasion. Sometimes the search isn't reliable.

Overall: Great benefits, it's a wonderful virtual office

Pros: Yammer is a complementary tool for sharing information, tutorials and documents inside an intranet. It can complement SharePoint's content management experience for a company. You can create a profile there and interact to other employees in a "social media" like tool. It has many features to create a blog, a tutorial, a wiki and many other things that can help your company to not lose knowledge as the teams keeps changing. New employees can find information and get a smaller learning curve by reading articles that more experienced people may have written on daily tasks or difficult problems that may arise.

Cons: I guess its adhesion was too low. In my company many people just don't like to use it because they don't know what is it exactly. It's such a great tool but looks like it was left aside. Maybe Microsoft could do a little marketing to help it grow and be more known by people all around the world. Maybe Microsoft Teams is more important to they...

Overall: I'm not using Yammer for a long period now, but when I did, I liked it. It has a great potential to be a content manager and a great company social media tool (communication channel).

Pros: First of all, its included with no additional cost on our Microsoft Ofice 365 subscriptions, so no additional expenses. It's very intuitive, nobody needs to be taught how to use it. It has a very simple feature set allowing us to improve our internal collaboration. Thre's now no excuse for not knowing what's happening in the Company. We can easily do simple polls and congratulate our colleagues for any personal o professional accomplishment or event.

Cons: Of course, everyone expected it to be a fully functional private facebook, which is not the case, there are a million Faceboo features that don't exist in Yammer, and we don't think we need them at all.

If only, a better interface for uploading bunches of pictures and organize them in albums, since right now we upload only selected pictures one at a time. Or we share links to sharepoint paths.

Overall: I like it a lot, we've managed to get the people really involved in sharing what they're doing, problems they face, solutions they implement, their personal and team accomplishments.

Pros: It is very easy to use, uploading files is easy. There is a Yammer app for your smartphone and you can receive pushes to email as well as the Yammer app so you always stay up-to-date. It allows to set up different networks and groups for different things through your organization. It is a great tool to communicate and stay organized.

Cons: There is nothing that I dislike about Yammer. It has so many wonderful benefits. I highly recommend this as a virtual office. It is low cost and for those that work remote, it is a great communication tool.

Overall: File sharing, communication, collaboration, organization. It is a terrific virtual office tool that I highly recommend.

Pros: Yammer is feature rich, with all the features you'd come to expect from Facebook included: Create a profile, add a picture, connect with colleagues, news feed, profile walls, add photos, tag photos, alert users with notifications, etc. If you're looking for a social network for your company this one does a decent, though generic, job. Also they have a freemium edition which has most of the functionality you'd need.

Cons: The main challenge with Yammer is getting people to use it. All the benefits of social networking in the company (knowledge transfer, communication, community building) can be real and valuable, but I've seen many attempts to create an active online community fail at my company. I think only with strong executive buy in will Yammer actually be valuable for a company, and all the great features Yammer adds can't fix this. We didn't have that executive buy-in and Yammer, Chatter, Flowdock, all failed to gain traction

Recommendations to other buyers: Ask yourself if you really have exec buy in to push adoption of Yammer (or any internal social network). These networks do not just create themselves - they need ongoing TLC especially from execs.

Pros: Yammer is fully equipped to serve as my network's central point of contact and communication. We have an international (dispersed) set of folks in my network, and we chose Yammer to be our communication hub. We have set up one work space for each work group - and another for our coordinating team. Not only do we use the group spaces, but the messaging between Yammer group members is extremely efficient and secure. We can write to individuals or create groups for ongoing within-Yammer communication. So even though we have to maintain security of information due to the part of the world we use this in, we have confidence in the security aspects. I also use the iOS Yammer app to access my account and messages.

Cons: I suppose it's meant to be a feature, but in a private message, if I type the name of someone who is also in our Yammer group into the body of a private message, Yammer automatically hyperlinks that person's name in the message as well as adds their name to the send-to list. While this is efficient, and while I can "undo" the link, it could I suppose cause some awkward situations if the sender never intended for that person to receive the message.

Pros: Yammer is very user friendly! You can use it with little to no training at all. We use Yammer to share ideas, updates, and get answers to questions enterprise wide. We use it to collaborate on active projects in different departments. Sharing a post is super simple and we love the social aspect of it similar to Facebook. You can like and respond to anyone's post. Being able to create groups is great so we can segregate information that is only relevant to those groups. We love the ability to file share as well, this helps us stay productive and on task with work.

Cons: There isn't really anything I don't like about Yammer. We use is consistently throughout the organizations. I think the only thing that comes to mind is the search feature could be enhanced.

Comments: When we implemented Yammer I was able to communicate with individuals in my organization that I normally didn't interact with frequently. It is very user friendly and make communication and collaboration quick and easy.

Pros: Easy to use, user friendly, brings individuals together quickly, increases communication.

Cons: This may be a quirk of how it was set up for our organization and my inexperience with the product, but initially there was too much communication regarding issues, departments, etc. that didn't at all apply to me so I tuned out. Understanding how to use groups is critical.

Pros: It enhances communication via different channels throughout the organization. Any collaborative effort can be easily organised on yammer. The UI is really fabulous and I get all the latest feed in my inbox for any of the groups that I am associated to.

Cons: Though I really like the existing UI of this tool, I still feel that it can be improvised further. The content seems a little congested at the first glance. Other than this tiny concern, I feel that Yammer is great tool for internal communication in any firm.

Pros: Simple to use and easy set up. Similar feel in ways to Facebook, but love the closed environment and informal nature so communication isn't so stuffy (corporatey).

Cons: Is rather basic and limited in some functionality. Because it is a stand alone site, it is one more tool to remember/check/waste time on. Can add value to communication within the org.

Pros: It looks a lot like Facebook, making it a fun tool to use. It was easy to use since we were familiarized with the platform.

Pros: Use this mainly for getting customer's questions answered. If customer asks question where I don't have information readily available, I can type it into the correct yammer group category and the product manager will answer it quickly. Much faster than emailing.

Cons: If organization doesn't make groups correctly, it could be hard to know where to post or make sure the right audience is seeing the conversation. The yammer inbox is also a bit redundant. I don't love that posts are listed by algorithm rather than by chronology and there is no way to change the settings to make it do that either.

Overall: Getting questions answered for my customers.

Pros: Social private network for Business - sounds like a great idea. And it is, indeed! Having to work with a distributed team, its great to have a facebook-like hub, with a wide variety of features, where everyone stays connected and private (protected) at the same time. It is extremely easy to use, with a user-friendly UI.

Cons: It was a little painful at the very beginning, when we were trying to configure it right. Once we passed that phase - no more issues noticed.

Comments: In summary, I would say it has potential, but lacks a niche.

Pros: It has all the features you'd expect from a social media platform; yet, because it's specific to your organization, you don't have the drawbacks of using public social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram.

Cons: In spite of the fact that I've used this software at two 20,000+ employee organizations, I've yet to see it put to much practical use. It seems to be most advertised for collaboration, but collaboration still seems to happen much more naturally in person or via email. It just isn't as in your face as an email or a conversation; so, it's difficult to motivate folks to use it as much as they use more entertainment-related social media apps.

Pros: Group creation, centralized platform, layout of most popular posts. Yammer is engaging enough to keep all types of users' interested and engaged on the platform and does a perfect job of keeping things internal. No outside distractions other than what's happening in the company.

Cons: user profiles aren't able to be created to a large degree, a bit limited on the info it can contain. It is a bit expensive to hold the company license I've been told.

Pros: Yammer is a communications instant messaging software-much like Facebook's Messenger, Google Chat, or any number of others. It works within the Office suite-which is fine-if you are collaborating with a group of people on a project and need to communicate with them quickly. It does the job quite well and it keeps the 'conversation threads' private and linked to your work. This is a good thing. You are not going to be distracted by games, adware, or cute kitten/puppy videos (we hope). It stays right there-working right along with you.

Cons: Problem with Yammer is-getting people to get on it and USE it. That is a major hassle. If they have been using Messenger, GChat, or something else, getting them to use Yammer will be akin to having root canals sans anaesthesia. Not a good experience. It can be done, but why would you?

Pros: As a user of yammer as part of the O365 suite on a large corporate network, I find it can be useful for some level of random communications (discussing industry relevant events) and getting to know the existence of people across an international organisation.

Cons: It's not rich enough to do any real work there, you can share the odd document and it has a notes function for linking document. It's difficult to add real content. It would be much more useful if Skype for business could connect directly to it can people could chat in a group instead of separately.

Comments: It took forever to get Yammer approved at the last government agency I worked for. Public record requests are scary, especially in Washington State. If we miss one little documents, there are big fines involved. I think we have the steepest fines in the country. Any social media or messaging tools must be vetted carefully to ensure we can easily store, search, and compile records - and the data we need to pull depends on the request. It could be a request for everything a particular employee has done in a timeframe or anything related to a random topic. After a very long Yammer vetting process, we discovered it was not scary and it wouldn't take much to make the data requests doable.

Functionality wise it's similar to Facebook, which most people use now... even folks who are not comfortable with new technology, so there's really no learning curve. You can open it up with a few guidelines and communications, and it will grow on its own. You don't need a huge implementation effort. People already know the value of social media. Watch it grow into something amazing! I am a fan of your website and would love to help as an LMS expert if you had the biz need for that. Here is some website feedback ¿ it would be cool if we could set up an account on your site. Then we could comment on other reviews and have our information already in the system.

Pros: An impressive (at least when i used it) social network that helped connect the various different international location offices - from a fun as well as collaborative work perspective

Cons: not a direct fault of yammer, but its a closed platform - meaning over time users got jaded or excited about the next best thing and so used it less. Also, it also does not encourage the spreading of ideas beyond the main users. It does/did not actively encourage wider networking within the different office locations, which is effectively whats social networking is all about.

Pros: Instead of using email, yammer is very convenient to get in front of someone quickly. Just like a chat application, or social media platform, it can be fun and very easy to use.

Cons: I feel like this software has been done before. It's not very imaginative in what it brings to the table.

Overall: quick and easy way to interface with colleagues.

Pros: Can be used to access to company's internal information, news, bulletin board. Quickly and easily share useful information, comment and discuss. When implemented and used correctly, it can replace unnecessary email chains and few other systems.

Cons: It has value when used properly. It can be a challenge to get all old-school users to use it instead of sending emails.

Few glitches in windows client and high DPI. Nesting images is sometimes challenging.

Pros: Yammer is a very cool concept. It basically creates an online social network for your business which can be used for everything from project management to helping employees connect over shared interests. In that sense it is very flexible, and it allows people to connect at work in a way that they are connecting in non-work life already (ie on social media). It's pretty easy to use, even without looking at any tutorials and if you're using other Microsoft products it fits in seamlessly.

Cons: No real cons if this is something you're interested in for your business. I think it would be used to greater advantage in a larger business. We're a small company, so it's not as challenging for all of us to keep track of each other and collaborate. In that sense, a product like Yammer might not be as useful for a small company.

Pros: Yammer is a private social network which allows users to work together across sectors, content and professional application. The best thing I love about Yammer It provides us mobile application which is really easy to use with the most interesting features. Its features are almost same that we can find in other social networking applications. It is a splendid way for having communication with people in industries very easily.

Cons: I would like to say there is really just one con. When I use this application it creates some problem while uploading and downloading but it happens very rarely. Most of the time it works perfect and let us collaborate in a fantastic way.

Pros: It's like having your own social media platform! I believe we meant it to be used to connect different departments, and we did some of that. It's nice for company announcements. But we turned it into a meme-fest. So...enjoyable, but we didn't have many guidelines for it.

Cons: It felt like just another platform that we suddenly needed to be involved in. We already have Skype, so we didn't need an instant messaging tool. Like I said, we used it for company announcements, but it just turned into a meme-fest. While that was enjoyable...it wasn't really very productive at all. It might have helped if we had more guidelines to begin with. But at this point, we've basically let it die off.

Overall: It's nice for company announcements. We haven't been using very much, though. There was a big push and then we let it die down.

Pros: Very simple to use- easy set up of groups and sharing of information. Included with O365 subscription. iOS app is decent. If you don't need a highly customizable app that can be easily integrated with a wide variety of non-Microsoft apps, and if you already have an O365 subscription, Yammer will likely meet your needs.

Cons: Other than integration with Office 365, the app doesn't stand out from any other team communications tools that are out there. It's not as easy to integrate with non-Microsoft platforms as others are.

Pros: Yammer acts like a social media platform inside of an organization.... it's like a facebook for your company. It can be used to share information, photos, updates, events, projects, and anything else. It's a good internal tool for communicating to people in your company. You can also create groups and sub-groups to make things easier to navigate.

Cons: With so many groups that you can follow, it can get very segmented very quickly, and it's possible that you can miss information. You can set up notifications however which helps. Visually it could benefit from some updates as well.

You can create collaboration groups, make instant company wide announcements, surveys, or simply ping someone while they are on a call if you need an answer quickly. Pros: I think there is a lot of functionality that we're not quite leveraging. But I know it can map into our CRM and link records really easily for IT to look at. We are currently using it almost like a forum.

Cons: It feels unnecessary. We have Skype, so we don't use the chat function at all. We have OneDrive for any documents. It really is just like a company-wide chat/meme fest. Which can be fun...but it definitely feels like just another system that we don't really need.

Pros: Easy to use and learn, nice user interface. Easy to communicate with coworkers and team members and collaborate. This was part of office 365 subscription.

Cons: Nothing specific, generally like the product. This is useful for collaboration, not so much as a project management tool.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's a business social network with some light management tools. You still probably need other project management tools, depending n how you run the project (Agile, Waterfall etc)

Pros: it was treated like an internal "social media" for announcements and communications, but it was mainly an HR comm initiative and no one else really used it.

Cons: reminds me of Salesforce Chatter, only meant to be more social. We did use it to try to organize a company wide volunteer day, but the process was confusing and counter-intuitive.

Pros: Yammer shows promise, especially with the integration into Office 365. The various business style layouts/interface and social networking features are very nice and easy to use.

Cons: It really seems like Microsoft isn't supporting Yammer as much as they should be, and a lot of the social aspects seem to be migrating to Teams

Pros: Throughout the company we use yammer to discuss topics that can reflect whatever we are doing around the world. This helps people connect on a private site that allows for engaging thoughts.

Cons: The format and layout is not very modern compared to Facebook. I would suggest they update how posts are viewed and seen.

Pros: It has most of the same features that you'll find on any social networking application like Facebook.

Comments: Yammer is a great way to get all co-workers on the same page and interacting with one another. It's similar to other social media tools so there is really no training at all. We set up groups so we can we keep up to date with specific products based on our responsibilities. We also have groups set up based on location/regions. This is an easy way for managers to talk with all their reps in a quick, easy to use environment. Everyone can get their opinion heard without having to go to a long email string or try and coordinate a phone call meeting. This is great for kicking around troublesome issues and trying to find a resolution. Love it!!

Pros: Allows for companies to communicate in a Facebook-like setting and allows for different types of work groups.

Cons: Millenial employees like myself avoid using Yammer and don't find it helpful because it seems to be another Facebook-type platform. It would be better if it served as an extension of platform instead of a separate tool altogether.

Pros: I like how Yammer is essentially a network within our company that allows us to communicate easily versus having to send emails back and forth.

Cons: I would like to have the notifications updated somehow. Via email may be redundant as the point is to not have emails back and forth but I don't always go in and check my Yammer account.

Pros: If you don't want to communicate with your colleagues in a more traditional Email/Phone/Face-to-Face, at least you can use this to show your boss that you don't hate them.

Cons: There is nothing to dislike. However, there is nothing new to like neither. I doubt that any enterprise is not using some kind of collaboration tools already. Be it group level, department level or even document level, companies are already using some tools to make their daily work easier. Yammer doesn't offer anything new, at least functional-wise.

Recommendations to other buyers: You may feel excited if you never used any collaboration tools and are not on Facebook. If you and your colleague doesn't talk in real life, you won't do it in this neither.

Comments: Yammer has been a great tool to efficiently address the need for mass communication on a regular basis. It allows us to publish quick bits of information which is appropriate for a social networking app and not so much for corporate mass mailings. We can still reach a mass audience and employees can even opt in to receive updates. This empowers us to have a channel for communication while avoiding the hassle of preparing a mass mailing and the process that entails. There's great integration with Sharepoint and OneDrive which makes feed embeds and file shares a breeze.

Pros: Now that Yammer went into Microsoft ecosystem, i often wonder how i should use, if it is not old compared with Other popular too. The key is -i guess- the fact you can use it as a place to post things you do not want them to disappear quickly.

Cons: It really has to be reenginered to find its own reason why i a a world with Teams, Slack and so on. Managing users and files it is also a way easier om competitors.

Pros: Yeah!!! We get another form of facebook in office. Individual & group posts are best and educational here. I am using it since 2 years & it always entertain and give knowledge. we also come to know upcoming events in our company. If getting bore in office use it then.

Cons: There must be some event notification in calendars linked through organization/company mail and more entertain features must be added
