Pros We use Sage TimeSlips in our legal office. The attorneys are able to use TimeSlips to enter their billable hours and I as the Office Manager am able to use it to do all of our billing and expenses that we send to our clients. Cons Sometimes it is difficult to get in touch with support. I have waited on hold for hours. I've found that the online chat is the best option for communication. Always make sure to get your service ticket number, just in case their solution doesn't work. Because depending on which package you choose you are only aloud to access help for free so many times before you are charged. Review Source DS Damien S. I stayed with it when I went out on my own. Pros I like the timer function and the spell check features. I like the ability to record time on my phone and download it into the program. Cons I don't use it to its full capacity because I don't need to. But it has a lot of features. I don't like the biling format feature. It is hard to understand. We almost went away from it to go cloud based but the migration was too difficult. We recently upgraded our service to three users and pay monthly for the services so we are able to contact customer support to get answers to tech and other questions. Recently, I have not been able to use the instant messenger feature which was why I switched to begin with. If they could make that feature more user friendly it would give it a better review. We have so many clients already in this database it makes it very difficult to get rid of. Pros Timeslips has excellent time tracking and billing features. The billing and invoicing features are excellent. Cons In all honesty, I am extremely disappointed in how Timeslips provides support to customers. Trying to solve a problem through "chat" services is ridiculous. What has happened to one-on-one conversation? Customer support is the worst feature of Timslips, yet it should be the most important feature aside from the product itself. Also, for the amount of money I am paying each year, I should have the ability to have more than 4-5 support interactions with being charged. I honestly believe that these issued should be addressed. May 13, 2018 5.0 It is easy to keep track of attorney time, things happening with each individual file, and client bills. Pros Each attorney can have their own form of the software and enter their specific entries. You can see all client bills from the past and present. There is an easy screen which shows each client's balance, last bill cycle, last payment, their address, phone number, and how much interest they are accruing. It is easy to enter your time entries and generate client bills. You can also generate all client's who haven't paid, last time they've paid, how much they owe now, and past due balances. You can also enter "notes" with each individual client to keep track of their payments and cards, etc. Cons There are a lot of different functions in the software that I don't know how to use or what their purpose is. The office manager has a lot more control over the program so employees can only access certain things. The items I can access were difficult to learn since the buttons are spread out. Some functions that I use left often are harder to remember where they are located. My least favorite thing about the program is that it is very slow and constantly freezes. I have to then wait several minutes to use anything else on the computer, or I have to manually exit the program a few times before it will work after freezing. Review Source LJ Laura J. Pros There is an add-on for LEDES billing which makes it easy since most of our clients went in that direction. Transfer from e-timeslips is quick and easy. Cons The report feature is horrible. There are many positive features of the software like the customization of reports, the billing process and all the many features. Cons We have run into some issues with being able to invoice clients the way some of the attorneys wish to do so. The software updates are worth updates are crucial, but notifications for new updates are not consistent. This is very expensive and not user friendly. Pros I think this program is great but usability and technical support to address issues is extremely elusive. Live Chat, which I am required to enter, more often than not, during regular business hours, is unavailable. There is no other way to get to Tech Support. Then, if I am lucky and can get to live chat, there is always a long wait. Cons The unavailability to get tech support help timely. I pay a lot per month for this program, and I am very unhappy with the availability to get help when the program malfunctions. I didn't want to learn a new system. Cons It is an unstable software and frequently gives error messages. You have to exit and restart the program. Right after I bought the last significant upgrade the tech support went to having to do an on line chat and then when that didn't work you could get a real person to call you. Pros Provides a lot of options for servicing clients. Provided detailed accounting history. Cons I find it cumbersome to use. The billing procedure is complicated and not intuitive. Compared to competition, it seems very costly. Reason for choosing Sage Timeslips I don't recall the other products that were available when we started with Timeslips. However, I have investigated other products in recent years that are quite attractive with more features at lower cost. Takes too much time from both the end user and administrators. We are way happier using Avaza and Quickbooks than we ever were on Timeslips. Pros There wasn't much to like about Timeslips except maybe an abundance of reporting Cons Clunky and over complicated. Interface was outdated. Started on the locally hosted version which was nearly impossible to upgrade and required keeping a really old computer around. We have used TimeSlips since 1998 and if we did not have such a legacy database, I'd switch in a heartbeat. Pros TimeSlips are relatively easy to enter and manage. Cons Reporting features are difficult to use. Does not interface well with Outlook for sending invoices. Marginal interface with QuickBooks. No CRM interface. Cons When our company began using TimeSlips the fee was a reasonable flat annual fee. When Timeslips started charging per user the fee is extremely high. Since we had been using the product for many years our database is large to convert to another timekeeping program. We are looking for a better cost effective program now. Now they have built in glitches, designed to take your system down 12 months after you purchase their product so that your billing information is held hostage until you pay them the required amount. Pros It is simple to enter the time in. My employee pick up on entering the information fairly quickly. Cons I purchased the program, and not a subscription. You can count on the fact that in 12 months after you purchase the subscription, you will suddenly and magically begin to have glitches. Then they will tell you that that version of the program is no longer supported, therefore you have to spend some random amount of money to upgrade to a version that is supported. Some years this is been $400, some years it has been over $1,000. Meanwhile they hold your information hostage with the built-in error message/glitch that they have included in the program to start appearing within 12 months of your purchase. Run from this company. They will hold your billing information. They will tell you this is not their problem. If you chose not to run from this company, you better pay the extra ransom money for the service plan, but beware, eventually they will just give you the advise that you need to upgrade again. The referral to help-list pages and community of users is absolutely ridiculous for a tool as expensive as this is.
