It manages your entire practice easily. It is more economical. One does not run into the update ripoff robbery by Sage. The final straw is the Windows side of my MacBook Pro overloaded so I could not get on the internet (that is a complaint about Apple making hard drives only 512 gig in size...at least now you can get an 8 terabyte hard drive if you can wait for it to be shipped from China (hopefully Coronafree)). So when I revised the partition of Bootcamp, it wiped off Timeslips. I had made several backup copies. Now I have to buy 2020 to be able to get my data from Timeslips. Its the last money they'll get from me. Pros It allowed me to keep track of time and billing when nothing else was available. Cons It or your computer invariably crashes every 4 years and Sage won't let you redownload the version you have been using. Thus, you have to buy an "update" at $1,200.00 or more. The screen is structured so the print is too small. I have gone to Macs around 10 years ago so I have to run it under BootCamp because it is a Windows only program. Until recently it was not cloud based. Reason for choosing Sage Timeslips No because nothing else was available back then. Now I'm going to Clio which is easier to use, read, and covers everything I need. And their tech support is 24/7. Review Source KM Kathleen M. Cons Ease in reaching out to when there are issues and getting quick efficient answers, especially from anyone that speaks the English language. Support used to be good. Now support is practically nonexistent. You can’t speak with a live person over the phone until you jump through dozens of hoops. Currently looking into something else to replace Timeslips due to their support only. Pros Easy to use and understand. Good time tracking, easy invoicing and good reports. Pros It has decades of my time and activity records on it, and after all these years I know how to run it. Cons It's buggy - it keeps breaking down, and using customer service to get it running again takes multiple calls and a lot of down time. It's also hugely expensive - since December I have paid nearly $4,000 for a one year subscription plus separately for an upgrade of the program (to fix the most recent breakdown) plus separately for a service contract that doesn't include a program upgrade. May 5, 2023 3.0 I have been having a lot of serious problems that don't seem to have solutions. Pros Nothing, the features I like & formally used like WIP & timesheets are not available on the basic program and the higher level program is too expensive. Cons I was using a somewhat older version of Timeslips. When I upgraded to Windows 11 it stopped working. I was told to reinstall my program, but they would not give me another copy, so I had to purchase the current version. Now I don't get all the features that I have been using for many years. Also, it no longer will email the invoices & statements. Customer support has not been able to help. I read somewhere that Timeslips does not support the 64 bit version of Outlook. We like the ease of putting in time and expenses and the ease of doing monthly billing. We do not use most of the features in Timeslips as the firm tries to keep things extremely simple. Asks dumb questions and doesn't allow you to skip entries.Billing and entering payments makes no sense. I always have to rethink it, every time. These are really awful features. The online "help" sources are not often helpful when we have questions on specific items related to our firm. January 6, 2018 2.0 Well...it does track my time and gets bills out, but not without a large amount of aggravation. Pros Easy to enter data into Timeslips. It is full featured if you can figure out the features. You'll like the program at first - until it starts giving you problems - and it will. Cons Horrifically bad support. It's a buggy program with frequent problems. There is a general rule with software - if they charge for support, it means it's buggy and a frequent problem. Timeslips is no exception. You rarely get through. Instead they take your phone number promising to call back. But they will only call back once, so you might find yourself on a merry go round trying to connect. Database is frequently corrupted requiring verification and repairs although the transition to the Firebird database seems to have helped. I started using Timeslips years ago and the only reason to continue is that of the fear that my data cannot be accurately transferred to a decent program. Most recent problem is poor compatibility with Outlook 2016. Whenever Outlook is open, text entry into the description field of a timeslip lags badly. While there are a lot of reports, figuring out which report and how to get the info you want can be challenging. You can modify layouts for bills, etc., but the user interface for doing so is from the dark ages. Review Source CH Charlene H. It is not intuitive. Pros It definitely gets the job done. The AR reports are very usable. Cons It's not customizable or flexible. It feels very 90s for the type of features it offfers. I like the easy of being able to adjust the date of bills and preparing reports. Cons There aren't really many things I've had issues with. However, I did notice that I am unable to delete a client name if it was entered by mistake. I did see that you can change the status to closed or inactive. Cons data protection these days is an important part of business. most servers are in the cloud off site and I don't feel as secure with what direction sage and timeslips is taking.
