Pros: The feature we liked the most was that it was connected to Salsa Engage, connecting our website, CRM and email marketing.

Cons: Salsa CRM doesn't have an events module or a membership module which we had with our previous database.

Comments: We are so impressed with the promise of this software. It will be nice to be able to get the tech support required to re-set my password to begin using it.

Pros: Advanced marketing features and the fact that we can discontinue services such as PayPal and Constant Contact. I am excited to see a software that understands the very complex needs of marketing v. the fairly simple software requirements needed for billing and finance.

Cons: From very limited experience as a brand new user: I requested a new password 1.5 hours ago and have also been on tech support chat and email. It is still not resolved. Was on hold with the support line for 20 minutes; then had a complex conversation that is still in progress. They are trying hard, but I've never had such difficulty getting a password re-set.

Comments: Overall we love using both the Salsa Engage and CRM platforms together. Once there is a good grasp on how the software works, minus the occasional bug, it is pretty slick and easy to use. Educational tools are improving but initially, we were on our own. Customer service was super helpful, and later in the process, Salsa CRM integrated a tutoring site which has also been helpful.

Pros: A great database system with a lot of very useful features and options. We have loved how it has helped us organize our non-profit.

Pros: I like the ease of the software. It is very intuitive which makes navigating easier. Most questions can be answered by using the online help, but if a phone call is necessary the staff is very easy to work with.

Cons: Our database system prior to conversion was subpar. I new the conversion would take work on both parts (salsa conversion team and my own). There was little to be done about some data, however one request made was only partially completed. I requested additional work to be done on it and was told that the system went live and there was nothing they could do about it. I don't there is an easy way of fixing it without starting from scratch with an excel spreadsheet.

Overall: An updated, easy to use database system.

Pros: It can do practically anything you want it to. We chose it over others in part because of the event management functions. Also because of the Salsa Engage

Cons: The learning curve - but this would be the case with any new software. It takes time to learn - you have to build in time to learn the software incrementally over a period of many months.

As a new user, I am finding Salsa CRM to be fairly intuitive. There is a lot of data clean-up to do

Pros: The intersections of email, word processing, data entry, and other functions appear to be easy to use. But remember, I am VERY new to this and haven't tried any difficult functions, and haven't created anything in Engage, so cannot really comment on that part yet.

Cons: It is not totally clear to me what the Engage vs CRM functions are as yet. The conversion process from Raiser's Edge to this is glitchy and we had to track down pieces of information in Raiser's Edge that were not converted. For example if there was no date of death for a donor or spouse, the fact that they are deceased was not converted automatically. The training path was not clearly laid out. It would be helpful to have a flow chart of critical training and the order in which it would be best to receive that. For us linear thinkers, it feels like the training options came at us from different directions and we became confused on what to do next.

Overall: It is too early to tell.

Great customer service, but conversion is a time-consuming pain.

Pros: Customer service is awesome. I appreciate that I can call and get help instead of wading through hours of online instruction videos. Everyone I've encountered has been helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate the ability to categorize constituents into groups. It's proven very helpful on directing messaging to appropriate constituents.

Cons: Frequently used items, such as notes and address and phone edits, aren't where one would think they would be. When learning the system, it causes a lot of frustration trying to find things. Also, there are lots of drop down menus without explanations on how each category affects the larger picture. For example, under "Edit Address," there is place to check is the address is "Home," "Business," or "Primary." (You can check more than one.) Then across from that, there's a drop down menu titled "Reason." No explanation of what this category means. The choices are "All Correspondence," "Bad Address," "Non-Solicitations Only," "Primary Address," or "Solicitations Only." How does this relate to the "Preferred Contact" drop down found under "Constituent Information" which also features "Solicitations Only" and "Non-Solicitations Only"? Isn't that overkill? What's the logic behind that? It would be nice if there was a printed user's guide. Sure, there's all sorts of information online to sift through, but who has time to watch videos? Give me a searchable .PDF with general instructions that include an overview of the drop down menu choices and their best uses. Finally, conversion is NOT easy. You get what you pay for. We paid for the basic conversion, and I had to manually process over 2.5 million data fields from our previous software to Salsa's templates. It took me 6 weeks. We're still waiting for Salsa CRM and Engage to interphase properly 2 months later.

Overall: At this time, we haven't been using Salsa CRM long enough to record any marked benefit. We're still in the problem-solving phase of post-conversion. As the Development Director, I did receive an immense benefit from sifting through the 2.5 million data fields from our conversion templates, however. I now have intimate knowledge of our constituents and our data that I didn't have before. It's given me a better view of our donor base which has allowed for the placement of fundraising strategies. If CRM and Engage would ever interphase properly, Salsa could probably make my life a lot easier. But right now, it makes it more difficult.

Pros: The product is pretty intuitive for how much functionality they have built in, but for what you cannot find there is great support, tutorials and articles in the help center. The software is a great comprehensive system designed for the smallest nonprofit or the largest. You can truly customized everything to fit a simple or complex process. We love Salsa and continue to look forward to all the improvements and advancements coming!

Cons: The software is rapidly expanding thanks to their team of programmers, but that rapid expansion doesn't come without a few hiccups. So it would be nice not to experience some of the growing pains, but would rather experience them than not have increased functionality.

Overall: We got a comprehensive marketing and CRM software solution for a great price!

Pros: The software is somewhat easy to use - after you play with it a while, you can usually figure it out.

Cons: I have been told our platform looks cheap and almost to the point where people are unsure whether it's "legitimate".
It does not have all the capabilities that Donor Pro's peer-to-peer software had so we are unhappy that it feels like we are getting less for our money this year. (e.g. participants were unable to track off-line donations)

Cherrie - Thanks for writing a review. In our next release (rolling out end July 2017), you will see lots of changes in our peer to peer fundraising functionality. Major enhancements include pre-designed templates and a new UX for supporters for professional looking personal pages. We have added the ability to also track offline donations. We hope you'll provide us with direct feedback on our new releases. We do incorporate suggestions from our clients into our new release so please do let us know what you'd like to see.

Hi Jessica - Thanks for your review. Salsa does have tools to help with best practices and training. Salsa Smart Start Fundraising is our best practice program where you'll work with a fundraising expert to create an email welcome series for new supporters, an e-newsletter, online giving forms and solicitation emails. Salsa Scholars is our e-learning platform which provides users with easy hands-on interactive training for Salsa Engage and Salsa CRM. Salsa Scholars is self-paced and includes certifications. We welcome feedback from our clients and we do incorporate client suggested enhancements into our new releases. You can send suggestions for enhancements to Customer Support or submit through our Salsa Support Center. We are incorporating templates for emails, e-newsletters and online forms which will be available in our next release (end of July 2017). We will reach out to you to make sure you know how to access the tools mentioned here.

Pros: Ease of use. I like that Salsa Engage and CRM sync with each other. Card Pointe is easy to use on the backend to pull reports etc.

Cons: The event module. Creating an event is easy, but loading that event into the CRM is frustrating and does not have the adaptability to events. Better training would be appreciated on this, the modules only go to a certain point and I feel like they don't really address how a non-profit implements an event. The tech support is helpful with regards to questions and assisting with work-arounds. With that said, I still like the event module, it just needs some refinement (or honestly I need more training)

Pros: Ease of creating donation forms and emails, the drag and drop feature makes it really simple especially for people that don't have a lot of design experience.

Pros: I like the ease of use. I the learning curve was short so it is a plug and play program. I like copy address function. I like to screen layout.

Cons: There are limits in the design I don't like. We have a lot of important data in forms and it is hard to use that info with donation data. Fix that. We did not get the kind of support I was expecting. We were contracted for a product that didn't exist. We needed P2P in August 2016 and that was a mess. It was hard to find someone honest about mistake as well. We are having a hard time with forms because we have a lot of people filling out forms and paying for others. This is an ongoing problem.

Pros: Support team and training resources are the best part. It can be daunting to learn new software especially one that includes many features in one. Salsa's training resources are like none I've ever seen before. Their team is helpful, friendly and fun.

Cons: A few small formatting restrictions for email creation were bothersome to me but not enough for me to really dislike the software. Also, Salsa constantly listens to customers for feedback and rolls out updates based on that!

Overall: Consolidating multiple softwares into one was very nice. Also, we gained a more user friendly, useful software for managing our newsletter.

Comments: It's worth the struggle.

Comments: For reference, our agency was using an old version of GiftWorks before we switched to Salsa.

Pros: Constituent records are easy to navigate and the CRM itself is east to work in (good search capability, easy to see relationships and prospect tasks). Engage email feature offers a lot of tools to cultivate donors more effectively. Support has been great, too. Conversion went very smoothly. All email/phone help as well as recorded/live webinars offer most things you need to know to get set up and running.

Cons: We haven't identified any major cons yet. We are really happy with the product! One area we don't know much about yet is reporting.

Easy to use, quick and reliable reports, constantly adding elements to make the experience better.

Pros: What I like most about Salsa Labs is the ease of use. Although as the administrator I am in the database daily, everyone on my team can easily find what they need and update donor profiles, and find out information about donors. The robust queries is also huge for me. The fact that I can easily segment out multiple layers of donors makes my job much easier. So far there has not been an output that I am looking for that I can not get through Salsa queries. The integrated emails and unlimited donation pages are also wonderful and have reduced the number of platforms we have to use.

Cons: I do wish there was a little bit more integration between the CRM and the Engage side of the systems. Currently if I send out an email blast it does not add a note or activity to the donor's profile on the CRM side saying this was sent. Currently I have to add them to a group and then add a note to their profile. There are a couple of other little items that are more wish list items rather than items I have to have in a CRM. Also, the customer support, although they are always helpful, it is sometimes hard to get ahold of them. Emails usually take a good 3-7 days to answer (sometimes mores) and if I call I am on hold for a good 15-30 min sometimes. It is nice that I can call anytime, but frustrating that it can take awhile to get ahold of anyone.

Overall: Tracking donors easily, easily sending out communication.

Comments: The overall product with Salsa Engage (I love this product!) was cheaper than our previous CRM without a P2P program, so it seems more economical and does more for us.

Pros: Good on-line tutorials, great customer support when you call (but don't send a "support ticket" and expect quick turn-around -it can take weeks!). Fairly intuitive to use.

Cons: It sometimes is glitchy, particularly when entering donations manually. Also, getting CRM to populate a customized acknowledgment letter has been difficult.

Pros: Agency just started using this product and it keeps track of contacts fairly well, better than previous software. The email automation features are also solid.

Cons: lack of customer service, if I need help there is no direct line I can call. The product is not very intuitive. Trying to run reports proved to be a challenge.

Hi Chanelle - We are sorry that you've found our Customer Support lacking. In addition to email support, we certainly do provide phone support daily from 8AM to 8PM. You can reach Customer Support toll-free at 866-935-8281. We also provide customers with a searchable knowledge base and access to an interactive, hands-on e-learning platform called Salsa Scholars. Broken into easy to digest modules, it's great for a tutorial on reporting and queries.

Comments: This is the best CRM software I've ever used. Easy to pull reports, do batching, and get information. Is a great tool for gathering information about your donors.

Pros: Very easy to use as compared with other CRMs that I've tried. Friendly customer service. Very happy to have cloud based option to check when I'm out of the office.

Cons: More help with instruction and maybe a reference manual. Sometimes it feels hard to get a handle on the very many add on features, which is a good thing.

Comments: Our experience with salsa has been great overall! The biggest challenge was the transition process. We were moving from google drive and several other platforms for ticket sales, emails, etc. so we didn't have any experience with this. It eventually all worked out and the Salsa team really stepped up to accommodate our needs.

Pros: Salsa is constantly updating the system which really helps nonprofits stay current in the technical trends also helping us make the best use of our time and funds.

Cons: There are a few glitches from time to time, as there is with any technical updates. They work to fix them quickly and the customer support staff is very helpful!

Pros: Ability to easily keep notes, documents, gift details and contact information in one easy-to-access cloud-based location. I had a wonderful experience recently with customer support agent he was Knowledgeable, patient (so very appreciated!!!), follows up, accessible. Thank you!

Cons: I inherited this software and we have some challenges with the ease and quality of reporting. This might be due to the way we set up our system. We are troubleshooting this and will reach out to customer support if we have continued questions. There are some reports that I'd like to see as automated. For example, top gifts, top donors, etc.

Pros: Salsa CRM is pretty easy to start using right away. Not everything is intuitive, but they offer some tutorials to get the basics down and regularly offer webinars. The thing that impresses me most is the customer service. Whenever I've been in a bind and can't find an answer on my own they are very quick to respond and you can tell it's not a copy and paste response. There are also a ton of options for creating reports.

Cons: There are almost too many options for customizing reports. It can be overwhelming to think of exactly how to pull the data you want.

Pros: Salsa Labs makes fundraising and communications easy for our organization. I am a one-woman marketing/fundraising/grants department and I love that Salsa makes it easy to create pages that match our branding. It makes for a seamless interface between the website, printed materials and online forms. The ability to make forms is key for us since it imports the information directly into our donor database. I would highly recommend this product to other nonprofits, especially those with a small staff.

Cons: I wish the training materials could go more in-depth and offer more information on best practices and how their products help you achieve them.

Pros: It's a great tool - easy to use and you have access to build just about any query imaginable. The best part about Salsa CRM, though, are the people. Their customer service is great! Whenever I've had an issue or a question they've provided personal attention within minutes.

Cons: I would like to see more training and tutorials about best practices and how to unlock the full potential of Salsa CRM. I know it's capable of doing so much more than what I'm currently using it for. I'm eager to learn more about mastering this tool!

Comments: PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Pros: NOTHING at all. Waste of Money. Waste of Time. Waste of everything. They are horrible. Their service is horrible. They are misleading and negligent in their information they provide.

Cons: Customer service is horrible. They promise you if their system does not work with your data you can cancel. They say if you are unhappy with the customer service you can cancel at anytime. They are a pain to deal with. They say "there is no way for you to get out of your contract" despite what they tell you before you sign up. They do not work with the customer. They do not give you contact information for anyone else to help you. Save yourself the headache.

Pros: Ease of use. You can select the modules you wish to use - we don't need them all. I like the fact that Constant Contact is connected - less data entry errors when capturing info. Support services are good.

Cons: Running queries - this aspect is not intuitive to me. I often find myself asking colleagues or the help desk for assistance.

Overall: I have been using Salsa (formerly DonorPro) for about 2 years. The system is easy to use and allows us to segment donors, easily pull reports and capture essential information to complete donor profiles. We also use the Event Management module - while a little cumbersome at first, this module allows us to extract the data in a more efficient manner when soliciting and prospecting for future events.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you can afford a good solid database - Salsa is a good place to start. You can add on if and when needed.

Pros: easy to use, great advocacy tool, great statistics/reports, easy to share on social media

Cons: formatting emails can be difficult if you want to include photos, event registration is a little clunky, hard to get issues resolved through customer support tickets sometimes

Overall: I really like Salsa Engage and how easy it is to use. There are some functionalities that could be improved, and hopefully will be improved as they continue to roll out new product features. Our members find it easier to use that our last system, and with each update, Salsa is offering some cool new features that we will begin to use. There are some things (like event registrations) that don't work as well as we would like them to (you can't delete people who cancel attendance at a free event, and there is no way to pull all the info for registrants and guests in just one list), but hopefully those will be fixed soon. I find the customer service people very responsive, but it isn't always a quick fix for our issues. We have used this product for about seven months and so far are pleased with how it is working for us.

Comments: We moved from simply accepting paypal payments 4 years ago to Givezooks. Salsa's acquisition and implementation of givezooks into their CRM gives us exactly what we need for our small 501 without paying for a lot we don't.

Comments: I would not recommend this software.

Pros: I do not like much of anything about this software since Salsa took it over. They are non-communicative and support is not good.

Cons: They keep updating the software but they tell the users nothing about what the update is. The user is forced to try and guess what is going on. Each update seems to make something about the software worse. Took 7 days to get a country code added. This took 2 hours when it was Tower Care. Spreadsheet views keep getting messed up. Says there is an error, then the spreadsheet opens and the software closes.

Pros: Reasonably priced, Salsa offers an affordable way to track, organize and engage our supporters. As an advocacy organization, we especially love the action alert, petition and letter to the editor options.

Comments: There are some great features about this product, but it is a very difficult system learn and manage and the Event platform isn't fully integrated between DonorPro and Salsa (these 2 companies merged), making it VERY difficult.

Pros: Customer Service is great. Being able to call in and get a live person when I have a question is awesome. I also like the Salsa Engage platform for email blasts, posting on social media, and creating fundraising campaigns.

Cons: Difficult CRM to use and learn, and not that great once it's up and running. Also, Event Platform is not fully integrated between the DonorPro side and the Salsa Engage side. It is easy to set up the fundraising landing page and registration in Salsa Engage, but after that you are left to figure out how to bring those registrations back over to the CRM side, where you supposedly would assign them seats, bidder number and check them in. It was so difficult trying to find a person that could answer my questions, (they admitted that it didn't work properly), that I finally downloaded the info to an Excel Spreadsheet and highlighted 400+ people with a yellow highlighter! Also at check-in, we pre-authorized credit cards in the CRM, and used the recommended cc sliders, but it took forever as they wouldn't pre-authorize unless the address was exactly perfect. (Our old Event Platform would gather that CC info at check-in and pre-authorize with out having to type in an address, or much of anything.) This made registration so slow that we received numerous complaints and it was very stressful.

Pros: It is easy to use and intuitive. The ability to create processes for cultivation and other engagement activities is invaluable and makes managing a growing team of fundraisers far easier.

Cons: Salsa CRM being a newer product that was based on the DonorPro platform, the manual wasn't immediately updated to reflect the online, cloud-based product.

Overall: Salsa CRM has been one of the easiest transitions to a new tool that I've ever experienced. From the very beginning, we were supported and guided through preparing our data for the conversion, connected with staff to train us on how to make the most of the features. After we implemented the tool, the wide variety of support and training materials has made getting the answer to any question incredibly easy. Salsa CRM gives you all the functionality of an expensive system at an affordable rate. This is the third organization I've worked for using Salsa and the second that I've led the transition from a different system.

Pros: The integration is nice when it is working to its full capacity.

Cons: Too many glitches, issues with functionality. Things are not as streamlined as they seem to be advertised. A lot of challenges and issues for our team.

Overall: We have been a Donor Pro client for years and were excited about the merger and possibilities with Salsa. However, we felt a bit neglected as a previous client, slipping through the cracks of the transition and experiencing a number of problems because of this. The overall functionality of the product has been cumbersome, making it feel like they launched the merger before ironing out really important issues. Customer service is generally good with very kind people. At first, the response time was great 1-2 days, however, we now end up facing at times 3-4 weeks on some tickets. But, I got tired of calling for an update on an issue, having the person try to fix it on the phone even though they land in the same place as the previous person...I can't figure this out, I need to send it to the developers or update the ticket. In general, I just spent way too much time trying to find answers, solutions, and we are a small organization that cannot afford it. They have updated their website in a way that gets you really excited about the product. It looks great and probably is for a new organization just starting out! But, it just hasn't been a great experience for us. Functionality was up and down. And, as an organization in transition, both with software tools and looking to grow and expand, we thought this would be a helpful tool. It hasn't met our expectations yet, and holding our breath a bit longer to see if things improve.

Recommendations to other buyers: I really wish we were given more attention at the beginning as the merger was happening (Donor Pro - Salsa). I think it would have been good to have specific account managers dedicated to making sure the transition was smooth and with the upgrade, functionality enhanced.

Comments: I have worked with this product for 2 years now and it does not have the ease of use and capabilities that I was told it does when I first started. We pay for husbands and wives as separate records even though most of them donate as a family unit, not as an individual which messes up our accounting. Pulling reports is like pulling teeth, very difficult and when I call or email for help I am told the solution is an easy one; but after a half hour on the line I am told that what I need cannot be done; which in my book is unacceptable for someone to tell their consumer. I would not recommend this product to anyone ever.

Comments: Salsa has an attractive interface and it is simple enough to figure out how to do most things, especially by searching the Salsa Commons. However, I have some of the same problems in writing emails as I did with eTapestry: There is a very limited number of things I can do with formatting. I actually had to learn a small amount of html in order to get around some of the problems, like being able to attach a link to an inserted image. There should also be more formatting options in terms of things like text wrapping around an image.

Pros: It's pretty user-friendly and the email blast archives are a great way to share past emails.

Cons: Some of the features are very basic and require knowledge of html or paying for an expert to make a unique product (e.g. email, donation page)

Comments: My team used Salsa for a 1-year campaign to raise money to build a home in Nepal for trafficking victims. We successfully raised $467,000 in 10 months! Hands down, we COULD NOT have done it without Salsa. Because it had everything in one (emails, analytics, segmenting, Peer 2 Peer campaigns, donation pages, event pages, and much more) it was much easier to keep track of everything we needed to keep track of.

Pros: *I didn't realize it at the time, but I really like how easily I could create queries/segments of donors. It has a "If/Then" approach with clicks of a button that is a lot easier than another CRM I use (eTapestry by Blackbaud). *Their email system worked well for our purposes. We had templates that we used throughout the campaign that looked good and were easy to fill in our information. It sent the emails we told it to send without a problem. *The event feature was helpful. We had lots of people sign up on the events page that was relatively easy to create. *I definitely like like analytics features. (This is probably my favorite feature.) It is really nice to see who opened emails, click rates, donation totals/types, etc... It is especially neat that we could send emails to people based on what emails they have opened or clicked on. *Branded donation pages was a must have for us and we got that so it's a big plus with Salsa.

Cons: *The emails were mostly good, but sometimes editing the templates was frustrating. You can't delete certain aspects (like a table or a line) in the email and if you're not careful and press "backspace" at the wrong time, the system will think that you've clicked the "Back" shortcut key and it will take you out of the email...unless you've saved recently, your email is gone. So, save OFTEN. *The Peer2Peer pages were good but had a few glitches. It was difficult to import off-site giving and link to a person's Ambassador page. I had to go through Customer Support to remove re-imbursed donations that were given via the P2P pages. It is really difficult to format the P2P pages - oftentimes, a page that was perfect would later start showing random signs: $ & % | and stuff... *We had some difficulties with people getting charged more than once when they clicked the button too many times. Not sure if that's Salsa's fault or the users'. *We had some issues with security warnings when donors when to the donation page. This was a frustrating thing that popped up often but never really got resolved. *While the event feature was nice, it didn't work so well for people inviting guests. I'm not sure what went wrong, but we had a lot of people who were unable to register guests for some reason, even though we had clicked the box to allow it. This lead to a small logistical headache at the event itself. *I didn't know they required 60 days notice to cancel the subscription. I had to jump through a TON of hoops to get our account canceled when our campaign was over because I only gave 30 days notice. Luckily they eventually caved and allowed us to go on good terms, but it took a lot of phone calls, emails, and polite convincing...okay, not always polite toward the end...

Recommendations to other buyers: *I'm learning this to be true with all CRM software (please tell me if you find one where this doesn't apply), but there is a steep learning curve to figure this stuff out. They have great training and very helpful customer service, but you still have to put your nose down and learn it. It would be really really helpful to have a knowledgeable developer on your side. There were times when customer support couldn't help beyond a certain limit and they referred me to "your developer". *Customization is rough and definitely requires someone with some know-how. The templates are templates and require coding knowledge if you want to do anything more personalized. If you are okay with their templates, this won't be a problem, but if you have someone on your team that is visually picky, you might need to enlist a developer. *This is a database, so some knowledge of how a database works is required or at least must be learned. Overall - know that you will have pros and cons on any CRM you choose to use. Don't spend a ton of money on a system that you won't use half the stuff, but don't go cheap and sacrifice getting what you need. It is NOT easier to use multiple programs in combination. (ie: Mailchimp, BrownPaperTickets, Excel Spreadsheets, and a CRM to collect money.) Just use one system that has everything you need. You'll thank me in a couple years when your organization has grown and you can't stand juggling all your information throughout multiple programs anymore.

Comments: My organization has used Salsa since 2009. Its primary value to us is for its advocacy tools, which allow us to reach our supporters with well-targeted email asks related to their Congressional delegation. It is not the most beginner-friendly interface out there, but for those with basic tech skills it does what we need and provides a great level of customization. Landing pages, form emails, custom emails, and scripts for legislator name, etc are all very functional for an advocacy context. I will note that our fundraising staff finds its reporting tools more limited than some other full-service funding-focused CRMs. They are cumbersome to run and don't generate easy to use reports without significant effort. We are making the move soon to Salsa's new combined platform and hope that this limitation will be reduced going forward.

Pros: Customizability Advocacy tools

Cons: Clunky reports Basic tech skills needed to use (not great for all staff)

Recommendations to other buyers: It has a strong advocacy toolkit if that's of interest.

Comments: At first the CRM program is over whelming if you are not familiar with a CRM program. There are very good aspects to the program as well as a few downfalls (most of which can be solved by research).

Pros: I appreciate these features: donor cultivation, tasks, custom fields, finance summery options (batches etc), custom appeals and campaigns. The custom campaigns and appeals are perfect for businesses that have multiple and/or ongoing events.

Cons: The Salsa Labs Email product needs some serious updates. Such as E-Mail themes and easy to use forms. The forms are prehistoric compared to other email marketing products (such as constant contacts). Because of the merge of Donor Pro and Salsa, I have to manage three separate accounts (including merchant services) which can take a lot of my time. The help site offers some good training videos but does not always cover the specific questions or topics that I need. This requires more time watching videos in hope that I get my answers. I have usually okay customer service but often get referred to a manager to get my answers. There needs to be more customization properties to the event form to tailor to certain events (individuals vs. teams) and integrating payments according to the sign-up forms.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are going to use Salsa, be sure you have plenty of time to learn the program. There are so many features that it can be daunting, but very useful once they are learned. Be sure you will use the program often as you will otherwise find yourself re-teaching yourself the features. If you make the conversion, make sure your continuant information is VERY organized. Time is of the essence, the program is good for multiple users but each user must be taught (which also takes time) how to best utilize the program to benefit each other.

Comments: When I first was learning Salsa, the simple and colorful dashboards allowed me to pick up the functions quickly especially when watching the tutorials. Comments: My biggest complaint is the reporting. Aside from that it is a fairly straigthforward platform that allows for coordination between your email marketing, fundraising, and advocacy.

Pros: Can create custom roles and permissions, organize constituents and users by chapters. Create and save multiple email and form templates.

Cons: Reporting is not the easiest and a lot of the report display in the browser and are not immediately exportable. The aggregate reporting is powerful but finicky - if any column is out of order the whole report is broken.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get help with creating custom reports from the get go so that you always have the data that you need.

Comments: SALSA combines the tools I need to track supporters, email blast communicate, campaign, online fundraise, event ticket and more! I've used SALSA for over 6 years and know of other similar groups that use SALSA. We all use SALSA due to it's simple, intuitive design and it's effective tools. Especially for medium and small grassroots organizations, SALSA provides the much-needed tools to reach the public and advocate. I recommend SALSA to everyone I meet that asks about expanding their CRM or jumping into a new format.

Pros: Tools options: Email blasts and campaigns, online fundraising, donor tracking, event ticketing, etc Simple and intuitive to users. Non-intimidating to new users . Support is the best I've run across -- always responsive, helpful and professional support staff.

Cons: "Auto-Save" needs to be included. I tend to save drafts constantly like we all did with early PCs and MS word back in the day i near of losing drafted language because SALSA has not yet included auto saving.

Recommendations to other buyers: Jump on board! Salsa is awesome. The people are great, the support team is incredibly helpful and the CRM is effective and highly useful.

Comments: So far, I'm very impressed with CRM. We had Salsa Classic before and it worked well, but this has more capability and the fundraising is integrated. Our data migration has not begun and it's about a month past when we were told it would happen. Be prepared to wait if you sign up. We were last told that they could not give us a time frame of when we will be converted over.

Pros: Integration with fundraising, easy to navigate

Cons: Slow implementation and data migration, need more information through this process

Recommendations to other buyers: It's great software, but be sure you know how long it will take to get you on board.

Pros: Options for all my needs: CRM database, online fundraising, email blasts and campaigns, event ticketing and more. Easy to learn and use. Intuitive programming and nice visually.

Cons: No 'auto save'. I am constantly 'saving' information so I don't lose my drafted email language or fundraising appeals because they have not installed an 'auto save' feature as of yet.

Overall: I've used Salsa Labs CRM for over 6 years now, and I am able to say they are a perfect fit for my organization and others that are medium to small grassroots groups. With features to support online fundraising, email blasts, email campaigns, social media integration, and event ticketing - on top of providing supporter tracking database abilities- SALSA is exactly what I need. On top of that, the SALSA support team is outstanding. They are knowledgeable, quick to respond, personable and patient. And they always solve my puzzles! I completely recommend SALSA for CRM platform users out there.

Recommendations to other buyers: I know others who have used SALSA and groups like mine are perfect fits for this type and size of CRM.

Comments: We are a local chapter of a national nonprofit organization, and manage roughly 50,000 records. Pros: Salsa CRM is user friendly and easy to learn. After using similar products this one is the best I have seen and so is their support team! The team goes above and beyond when training and that great service even extends even after training is complete. I always recognize familiar names and voices when I call/email with questions. The also offer online help and training videos so you can stay up-to-date on new functions that may benefit your organization. Salsa CRM offers a fantastic product and the support to meet your needs. They communicate with their customers well and are always updating information for the customers and asking for feedback to make the experience better.

Cons: There is no one thing I would change. If there is something I think may have an idea or have a suggestion, I can submit to Salsa CRM. They always respond to customer feedback and review to see if in is something that can/should be implemented.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you read current customers' feedback. Also, don't be afraid to call colleagues at similar organizations and ask what product they use and their experiences.

Pros: I like the event module. It makes keeping track of quests pretty easy without needing to also track in an Excel file. It is easy to get your query results into Excel.

Cons: I find that many things in Donor Pro are hidden or just not intuitive. There is not a lot of help once you get past the basic training. Here is a direct quote from Tech Support: "I encourage you to experiment with this tool. It is a little "hidden," so I am not surprised that you were not aware of it." I am disappointed that many query fields are only available with certain queries (donation versus constituent), so if you are looking for two different pieces of information, you need to run a query, save your results, and then run another query just to get basic information. I am also frustrated that there is no "key" to decode query fields. There is no way to know the difference between First Gift and First Gift Ever if you don't ask. I have also found fields in canned reports that have no explanation of what they are pulling.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take a good look at running queries to make sure it can do what you need it to do.

Pros: Customer service is friendly. Relatively user friendly interface. Mobile and GUI versions readily available. I also very much like the ProPortal. It's a great resource for training and software patches.

Cons: As they have increased their business and the merger happened, response time and problem resolution isn't as timely or thorough as it used to be with general help desk inquiries. I imagine/hope it's just growing pains. Also the lack of integration with Microsoft is still a down side.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be sure to ask yourself how you want to structure donor profiles and cultivation. Important to get that structure together before choosing a database. I think this is great for a small to mid-size organization or chapter.

Pros: The cost is lower than our previous donation management product and the features are about the same from what I can tell.

Cons: Seemed like a lot of gliches that had to be worked out along the way from setup in DonorPro through sending out mass emails in Engage. I'm pleased with the help I received through the help desk but it seems like new software that is still being perfected.

Recommendations to other buyers: I wish Engage had video tutorials like DonorPro does. As a small nonprofit, I am not in the program daily and sometimes still need to review how to do something. That's much easier to do with video tutorials. I find myself not using many of the functions of Engage yet because I don't have the time to hunt through the written instructions and figure it out myself.

Pros: The customer service was phenomenal. You cannot ask for a better group of individuals to work with. Quick, efficient and understand what you want; even when you do not know how to put it into words.

Cons: Not a thing. Everything about the process was lovely.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take the leap! It is well worth it. We are in love with our new site.

Pros: Our organizations primary reason from switching from our old CRM to Salsa was because of the poor reporting feature that we had. Salas' reporting functionality is wonderful. It allows you to create a report based on any information that you are trying to gather from both the donation side as well as constituent side.

Cons: I would love to be able to chat with the help desk for quick questions that come up.

Recommendations to other buyers: Really think about what your must haves are in a CRM. During a demo ask them to show you how each process works. Although Salsa looks like a very complicated CRM I have found that it's very user friendly.

Pros: After coming from using the Raiser's Edge system, we have been continually impressed by all that Salsa has to offer. It is really a one stop shop for a Development Department. We are a smaller non-profit with a staff of two and a limited budget, and the Salsa system and Engage platform will allow us to perform functions that we never could have had time for or afforded the modules for with our old system. We are excited to be able to seamlessly coordinate all of our functions in one system from e-blasts, thank you letters, a separate fundraising page, reports and mailings generated....the list goes on. We look forward to this year as we know that the Salsa platform is going to increase our productivity, funds raised, and donor relations.

Cons: The conversion process has been slightly fractured. With so many products (CRM, on-line, engage, and the fundraising page) it is sometimes difficult to know who to contact for what. A project manager may be beneficial during the conversion process so that an organization has one person to go to for all of their questions and set up requirements.

Recommendations to other buyers: When our organization was making the decision to switch to Salsa, we looked at what services we would be gaining versus the cost of what we were or would be paying for all of those services through different providers. We couldn't beat the cost and the ease of use not to mention that all of the Salsa systems communicate...so no more double data entry or fixing things from one service to the next!
