AdvancedMD has poor support. Their EHR system is very unreliable. There rx writing software is extremely unreliable and is constantly having issues. The hold times on the support line is always 20-30 minutes, nothing is ever solved you just get a case number. They think that its fine for a problem such as a provider being unable to send rx's to have a 72 hour solution time.

Pros

The billing side of the system works well.

Cons

Poor customer support, unreliable EHR, and rx writing software.

Pros

Claim submission - efficient and easily catches errors without waiting months for insurance co's to tell you they can't process a claim because of an error. Fast turn around for claim payments.

Cons

Sometimes difficult to find outstanding claims (secondary's) that have become "lost" by the carrier and therefore not paid on.

I run a small private practice and appreciate the support and flexibility with AMD. My billing is done through the system and works seamlessly. If I have a question, support is available and timely.

Pros

Billing is done for me, great customer support, easy to learn and use. Easily customization to your specific needs.

Cons

the monthly price can get costly at times, but still a good value for all the functions you receive.

Pros

Very user friendly Excellent provider support for use of product (after initial training). Quick turn around time for payments (especially secondary).

Cons

Enrollment department was very slow securing EDI agreements which delayed use of the product for 10 weeks (vendor required 40 days to process EDI agreements but Enrollment department did not submit them for 30 days after agreement were signed). This vendor provides insurance coverage for 90 percent of my patients which meant I was paying for a product I could not use. I did get a 1 month refund. I received an email from the insurance provider stating that I was set up for AMD; however, I had to call enrollment to let them know this. There seems to be poor communication between Relay Health and the Enrollment Department Training occurred during this time. Training was good; however, since I had such limited use of the system, by the time it was up and running, I had to go back and re-learn many tools.

Hi my name is Gloss, and I am a manager for Dr. Ostrowsky, an endocrinologist in Las Vegas, NV. We had contracted with a billing provider to assist in our medical billing for over two years. Our cash flow dropped at least 30% the second year after signing up with them. This made me nervous to the extent that I hired an in-house medical biller to aid me in investigating this matter. Due to a variety of both internal reasons and issues with our previous provider, we discovered that our patients never received any statements from that provider. For this reason I began looking into other options and reviewed several medical software programs. I found ADP AdvancedMD to be the most beneficial to our needs. After the second month with this program, our financial recovery increased 100% of our original income plus some. We are extremely happy to have found that with ADP AdvancedMD, we have better control of our AP and AR - particularly our AR. We look forward to a great future with it.

Unless you're an IT professional, I would avoid this system. The advantages of AMD are that they have a pretty solid PM side including reports, and it's very customizable. The disadvantages of AMD includes their service lacking - support is slow and usually lacks the ability to solve most problems. The handoff between sales, implementation and support was poor. There's minimal help with setup and training - our trainer didn't know the answers to our questions, so you're on your own when it comes to setup and training. It's a terrible user interface - if you're looking for an attractive software, or a well designed interface with minimal space between clicks, then you'll be disappointed. Finally, they're not very reliable. For SaaS this is a killer. Their app goes down randomly, and they usually don't know what is happening, why it happened, or what they can do to make it not happen again. I have a background in IT so I've been able to make it work, but I regret choosing AMD.

The 1 on 1 training staff are VERY pleasant to speak with and helpful being very knowledgeable about the product and always willing to help.

Pros

It is extremely versatile with the different modules to be implemented which can make it very customizable to your needs. The system creates a steady and productive workflow.

Cons

While the modules are wide in use and availability it can get pretty costly to implement everything you may need/want. The workflow is steady and productive but it takes a lot of devoted time to get the system set up and customized the way you want it to create that workflow.

We are able to save the patient's credit card information into the system since we have them on auto pay which is good. The appointment schedule is easy to use and to create blocks.

Cons

It is difficult to get some reports for specific time frames. We can't seem to get all we need.

Pros

ADP is very user-friendly. It is easy to access reports, the EHR is easily customizable, and even the most unexperienced EHR user learns to use ADP very quickly. The initial person I spoke with has stayed in contact with me through the whole process and still stays in contact to make sure everything is running smoothly. Tech support is also great and timely.

Cons

The one thing I like the least is that when billing out claims, there is a certain process you have to do and make sure you click a certain button. At first, my staff failed to click this button, and all are claims were not going out the door. But after I called support and figured out what we were doing wrong, we fixed it, and everything has gone smooth ever since.

Pros

It's less cumbersome than most of the other EMRs I've used. It's not as difficult as Meditech or MedInformatix. It's probably less useful than the Allscripts platform I've used. It was not completely clear when I first agreed to take on this platform that it would require significant additional costs to really get it to be useful rather than to just record a patient visit. The customer service employees of this vendor have all been friendly, and it does seem they are genuinely trying to help get this system to work better for us.

Cons

To make it really functional in practice (being able to e-scribe, get laboratory data, etc.) required significant additional costs that I was not fully aware of upfront.

AdvancedMD's timeline for training and implementation was for their convenience rather than to meet my unique needs.

Pros

My trainer during implementation has been wonderful. She has excellent knowledge of the program, as well as how to best use it to meet my needs. She has been the redeeming factor in my AdvancedMD experience.

Cons

It was sold to me as being more specific to my situation than It's proven to be. It is geared more to medical billing than to mental health billing and the training videos reflect this. That has been disappointing.

Pros

The initial implementation is pleasant as they help you with the initial set up. The program is clunky and doesn't work well as there are many different folders and tabs to navigate through that are not intuitive. Implementation overall is poor at best as many products and features do not work.

Cons

I did not appreciate them attempting to charge me for the setup fee. Apparently the initial invoice states that the fee would be waived if you remain a customer for more than 12 months. Unfortunately you have no way of agreeing or disagreeing to these terms because once you accept the invoice, they take that as confirmation of your "contract." Please be advised that this company will attempt to lock you into a contract for 12 months upon initial setup/discussion. The sales team has no accountability and will do anything to have you sign up. The customer service actually yelled at me.

Pros

The name of the software sounds great. Other than that, it is difficult to say when they refuse, flatly refuse, to return emails or voicemails in order to accomplish the conversion, bridging and implementation needed to become functional.

Cons

The implementation has been horrible. The conversion team and the implementation team do not return emails, nor do they return voicemails. We are currently unable to bill and we wait and wait and have no answers to our communications for weeks now. Its really unbelievable how they take your money and not communicate when contacted. I wish I would have known on the front end how disinterested they are in customers being able to function with this product.

After much research, our PM of choice was AdvancedMD. Its Cloud based technology was really important to me because it allows me to work from anywhere I have Internet access. The system allowed the flexibility to customize the schedule and appointment types to mirror our previous complex paper schedule. AdvancedMD helps us get the money in the door and to tighten our revenue cycle. From appointment scheduling / check-in process of the front staff, to the charge capture by the physician, to claim submission, follow-up, denial tracking and auto posting, the system allows us to keep a keen eye on the money trail. In addition, the recall system helps us manage and monitor patient's future appointment needs based on the physicians plan of diagnosis management. Collectively the features of AdvancedMD allows us to meet our overall objective of delivering quality healthcare to the women of St Louis.

The PM part works great.

Cons

AdvancedMD should pay more attention to customers' needs. They don't have much interest in hearing customer feedback. AdvancedMD called me once to hear my concerns. The person had no interest listening to my suggestions. He just kept saying, "You are the only one complaining about this. I have many happy users." In addition, the customer service is horrible. The EHR side's tech support doesn't seem to know much about the product. They just searched the keyword and read the text back to me. If I asked more questions, they just aid, "I don't know," or they said they would report the case to the second level help. Most of the time, I never heard from them again.

NOT for the solo or small practice. System is geared toward an already up and running clinic of the BigBox Medicine genre. Despite advertising stills, it is not optimized for Mac (a less vulnerable system for data breach). Despite advertising stills, AMD still does not allow patients to make their own appointments & do their own data entry.

Pros

One or two of the options allow the practice owner/mgr to see a particular patient’s appts, self-payments & insurance payments.

Cons

Requires an already trained, fully functional front office staff to do all data entry, requires constant oversight to reduce errors of data entry.

I've been using Advanced MD for my billing software for about 1 year. It took a little while to set it up and to learn how to enter the information, but it is very easy to use.

Pros

I like that I can find the daily remittances easily. It tracks the A/R on a daily basis. There are many types of reports that can be run to keep rack of the financial health of the practice

Cons

Some of the reports can be created, but if there is a particular report that is not already in the software it could take a year before the company will create it for you.

There have been some downfalls to Advanced MD but hopefully, some of our recommended features will come available soon.

Pros

The feature I like most is the ability to electronically send controlled medications

Cons

Not being able to put a patient in a room on the schedule screen is a huge downfall to this system. Also not being able to prescribe more than 1 prescription at a time. Also, too many clicks to get where you need to go. Setting up or customizing how you want your notes or anything takes a long time and stressful.
