### "Comprehensive but complicated"

March 29, 2024

4.0

can be a good tool for parks and recreation. It has comprehensive features and functions that fit an agency's needs. But the customization is limited and the learning curve is challenging. Plus, the complexity of the user interface and managing data prevents users from fully using all the features.

Pros

A lot of features. Online registration is convenient. Converting all programs to InDesign for marketing is easy. Customer service is very responsive.

Cons

is an old platform and its user interface looks like early 2000s and is complicated. The data management is difficult. There are too many settings and parameters for pulling a report. Some reports are in tabular format Excel but many are not, especially revenue reports, which are impossible to be integrated into other financial or data management. To learn a specific function of ActiveNet is not difficult, but the learning curve to use ActiveNet effectively is challenging. Customization is limited, we often need to adjust our programs or facilities to fit the modules.

Reason for choosing ACTIVENet

All parks and recreation registration/reservation systems have their pros and cons. None is perfect. was chosen as it was leading in the industry.

### "10 years of Successful work together!"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Overall, our experience has been a Successful one. We have been her for 10 years now so that in and of itself speaks volumes. We have been able to grow, change leadership, and even weather a pandemic without passing those struggles on to our customers.

Pros

Specialized modules for Memberships. Other products we have looked at seem to treat memberships like activities and they function quite differently too. The Connect App for Camp and Child Watch. It has been an amazing tool that has allowed staff to be more mobile both geographical with remote sites for camps and within their workspaces by untethering with the tablet.

Cons

Pricing, every new development is an additional cost. Support Hours of Availability, we are on the west side of the country and as a result our facilities are open hours after support closes. Reports are a constant struggle. Canned reports only return about 70-80% of what we need. We either end up pulling multiple reports and piecing them together in Excel or I end up trying to build custom reports in insights (even though not all the data points are available there either) to pull the data we need. The I have to go and make sure that all users who need it are able to access it.

### "It's a Pretty Option Overall"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Overall, I've been very happy with , especially with customer service. I have been in regular contact with the support team over the last 5 years and have had an exceptional experience every single time. The team doesn't stop until they can find you a solution, or at least an answer.

Pros

I like how customizable it is and how far has come with respect to the CUI as well as the AUI. It's become more functional over time. It's highlight is it allows for ease of program setup, delivery, and registration.

Cons

I don't like the process in which upgrades/updates are received and potentially reviewed. I have a request for a very important update for our company that has been overlooked as larger institutions and companies likely don't need to use the specified function. The lack of update impacts our processes such that we require to keep track of thousands of paper copies which is absolutely archaic and waste of time.

### "Active Net Review"

March 28, 2024

3.0

We use Facility Scheduling and POS components - Scheduling works fine for our bookable spaces, and for the most part the POS works as well. Overall frustration is with Accounting side and Financial Reporting side of the software which does not provide what we need. When we were sold we were told it had ALL THE FUNCTIONALITY of MaxGalaxy (that we were using) plus additional features etc....this has not been the case as specifically I can not get accurate accounting info , system does not generate invoices, receipts show lack of details etc..

Pros

Scheduling calender to book events into spaces is easy to use - adding customers is relatively easy. Printing schedule is easy. POS features are user friendly and simple to set up.

Cons

Accounting is terrible - impossible to find most basic revenue information for bookable spaces. Many features simply don't work - ie Departmental Revenue - exists in nothing generates. System doesnt generate invoices - only permits. Receipts for payment show no detail about dates and times paid for - only refers back to Permit Clients hate the receipts as cant see what is paid and what is outstanding when have multiple dates on single permit. ActiveNet SUpport does not always respond to tickets generated and dont follow up.

Reason for choosing ACTIVENet

Because in the sales process it was sold to us as seemless from MaxGalaxy and all functionality from MaxGalaxy would work in - this has NOT BEEN THE CASE

### "If Only There Were ZERO Stars"

March 28, 2024

1.0

This might be the least user-friendly software I've ever used. In 20 years of tracing inventory, POS and events, I've never seen anything worse.

Pros

Our homeowners can register for events and purchase tickets.

Cons

Literally everything else. No one has ever been able to properly explain the pricing structure. I am unable to run registration reports and no one can help us troubleshoot. The customer service department is terrible (long wait times, ineffective and zero follow up). And the member interface/search engine is horrible.

### "Implemented and used activenet after switching from CLASS for six plus years. it was quite good."

May 4, 2018

4.0

Pros

Once I got used to , I really like a lot of what it could do. our initial set up caused problems from the start and we did not properly set up (based on how rep suggested) to maximize ease of use. I love the roster reports, booking was easy to do, as was registrations, membership sales. Editing information on the clients was very easy. when things went well, Activenet worked okay for us. calendar views were an awesome tool to see what was in the facility for the day and the totals reports were really prowerful. it was great to be able to generate reports in a variety of formats.

Cons

customer service was slim to none for the majority of our time. We only had a dedicated person for a small window of time to help show us and train us on how to advance the functionality of the programme. initial logistical problems in set up stalled our progress without the product. promises of bridging with current accounting software did not ever happen. As was the promise of bridging with red cross classes, which class did, was another thing that never happened. Helpline improved for last year of use, which was great, but kinda too late. had a habit of running updates, and not letting us know. Changes to our system would occur and we would have no idea how to troubleshoot and then have to wait several days for help from activenet. (via email or phone) Contract was renewed without our organization being consulted (you cannot automatically renew a contract without consultation) and then, when we heard our fees would be increased, with no promises of anything improved for our end, we opted to seek other software that may better fit our needs. Too bad because there are many many parts of Activenet I really liked, and really miss!

### "Does the job"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Pros

Their customer support is very helpful. Most of the basic functionality is there and does the job.

Cons

Doesn't allow for much customization on website or customization within. And if you can it is not easy to find. There are solutions but require us to often to reach out to support. Would love to see this be more user friendly. Would love to see a more customizable URL that can be given to customers for example www.fernierecreation.ca rather than this long URL that is not user friendly.

### "Great Basic Registration System"

March 28, 2024

3.0

Pros

Great for basic class registration and membership tracking.

Cons

Certain reports are harder to pull up/find than others, and are not clear. Too many functions/buttons for certain categories. Scholarships get overrided when making changes to a schedule. Not easy for a low-to-average computer user.

### "Lots of features, lots of learning"

March 28, 2024

3.0

Overall our experience has been pretty good. I still prefer it to the previous recreation registration software we used. Billing has been a frustrating process, with much miscommunication.

Pros

is very versatile in that there are many things you can do with it.

Cons

The set-up and often use of it isn't always intuitive. Any time we want to implement something new within it we have to dedicate a lot of time for learning, set-up and training of staff on it.

### "Claremont Parks and Recreations Review"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Overall, it has been good. Nothing to large to complain about.

Pros

I have learned the software and I know and understand it better then any other software. It does everything we need in a Recreation Management Software.

Cons

Reporting is sometimes difficult, especially when being asked to pull specific details regarding memberships, and programs.

Reason for choosing ACTIVENet

We have been with for so long and migrating the membership database would be a nightmare.

### "ActiveNet was the solution for us!"

March 29, 2024

4.0

This has been the easiest to use event software I've ever encountered, and it has been critical to our success in the Facility Events department. While there a few features it lacks, it backs those up with one of the best calendar systems I have experienced along with robust reporting capabilities.

Pros

The calendar is very well designed, enabling users to view space availability in separate calendars and incorporate crucial information like setup time, attendance, type of event, etc.

Cons

We wish there was a timeline or event detailing feature that allowed us to go more in depth with the various event logistics.

### "A mountain worth climbing"

March 28, 2024

4.0

I am enjoying learning the program and all it has to offer. Looking forward to the day I am comfortably familiar with everything.

Pros

Customer support is great and once you understand the program, it feels more user friendly.

Cons

Figuring out the "whys" of how something is setup. Active web support can be a bit of a challenge to find specifics.

### "ActiveNet is Great"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Pros

I like because it makes it easy for my facility to check members and rent out equipment. We can customize the program to our facility which makes it easy as well.

Cons

The only thing I don’t like about is the number of times we have to verify who we are when logging in.

### "Everything under one roof!"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Pros

ACTIVE Net has many features all included in one product (registration, membership, billing, scheduling, etc.). Before, we had to use multiple systems to accomplish these tasks.

Cons

There definitely is a "learning curve" to understanding and using the product. The credit card readers are glitchy.

### "ActiveNet for Education"

March 28, 2024

3.0

Pros

Many different features, especially the robust reporting was extremely valuable to us.

Cons

Ease of use, mostly. Customers complained about the UI, and setting up complex reports like the Transaction Export was tough for staff. Sometimes we couldn't customize things in the ways we wanted. Our biggest drawback was that the only way we could merge customer payment plans was by putting the classes in a package bundle. Sometimes our customers by 5 classes at a time, and it would be problematic if their card was charged several times on payment plan day.

### "ActiveNet for Parks and Recreation"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Pros

is a robust recreation management software. We primarily use this product for registration management, facility management and membership management.

Cons

There are some limitation to the software when using specific features. My main challenge is the limitations that FlexReg has compared to their standard Registration platform.

### "Activenet for small schools"

October 19, 2018

4.0

Generally, this software has work well for is to bring clarity to the revenue and payroll streams and helped us greatly reduce past due balances and reduce staff time with registration transactions.

Pros

We appreciate parents' ability to login to manage their accounts, register for the correct classes and make online payments. The private lesson management on the staff side is efficient and generating the needed payroll information works well for us. Communication module is also much appreciated for targeted emails by course registration or level of participation. We have been able to fairly easily configure this software to work for our small school.

Cons

Reporting is very hard to trust and manipulate. seems to be trying to address this with AdHoc reporting and Insights, but the time and $ involved in incorporating those aspects is with our small staff is prohibitive. Also withdrawing students from a lesson course after they have had one or two lessons is impossible and necessitates adding fake money into the system to close the receipt. We find frustration that all the product enhancements are generally geared to YMCA type organizations and the smaller school needs are not often addressed.

### "Good support for migration"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Pros

\- Customer service is always there to help with anything. - When we migrated, the transition was pretty easy, they not only guided us through the transition, but also supported us. - We have been developing more and more products (existing products in Active that we get to know and start using) in Active and been supported through the process by our account manager as well as product team whom are always there if we need a refresher or presentation to better understand our options.

Cons

\- We are in a French speaking province and we often need some corrections in the translations on the Customer User Interface (mistake in the translation, incorrect translation, etc.). - Some releases impact our processes and require us to modify our ways of doing things. - It takes a while for enhancement features to be developed.
