### "Awesome Payroll Software"

As I have stated before, their support is awesome and the "chat" feature has a live person on the other end=) Those live people know the software as well and are usually always able to resolve any issue I have in minutes. Set up is a little difficult ...IF you don't know payroll, so I would strongly recommend hiring someone that knows your type of industry (I work with churches and ministers and payroll is an area that I see a lot of mistakes)...to set up the software for you. But after you get it set up, it is pretty easy to use. I highly recommend this software.

Pros

Their support! After leaving Intuit Payroll for Patriot, their "knowledgable" and available help was a refreshing change!

Cons

There is not an "auto" payroll for my clients that have the same payroll each time. With that added feature, Patriot Payroll would just about be perfect in my opinion.

QuickBooks messed up my and my clients payroll up one too many times. Also, their support is terrible! I just spent 2 hours with them this week because 2 YEARS after I CLOSED my account....they filed 3 payroll returns with all zeros and caused my correct 4th quarter returns to be rejected. After 2 hours I was finally told that they would NOT do anything to fix their error as even tho their support assured me my account was closed...it was not. SO it was all my fault. I had to pay Patriot to file amended returns, because QB Payroll could care less about me as a person.

We initially started out with the basic payroll, which was extremely easy to set up and use. However, the full-service payroll has become invaluable to me as a business owner. It has saved me so much time and stress in trying to keep track of payroll taxes and filing dates.

Cons

I honestly can't think of any cons related to Patriot.

Love it, Highly recommend to any small business owner who wants to keep track of his or her own payroll, Once setup anyone could run the payroll service if needed

Pros

Quick and Easy to learn and set up. For someone who does not like to give up control this software lets me keep control of payroll with no worries

Cons

Setting up Vacation time has been a little tricky Sometimes i vary this policy a bit and hard to keep the service and actual time off correct.

My overall experience since day one with Patriot has been very positive and if i have any problems with any employment agencies, they handle them right away and i have no more worry and fear of forgetting things. I'd recommend Patriot to any small or large business for maintaining their payroll needs.

Pros

I love Patriot Payroll because it is very easy to use and to understand. I had a hard time keeping up with all the necessary paperwork monthly and quarterly for tax purposes and Patriot took that worry away from me and I'm forever grateful!

Cons

I can't find anything, yet, that I do not like about Patriot.

### "Perfect for a small company with basic payroll needs"

Pros

I'm so glad that Patriot offers a basic payroll service. While shopping around, I found mostly companies that only offer more automated payroll services that do a lot for you. I get how that could be great for many people and companies, but I don't need or want full service payroll. The other, equally fantastic thing about Patriot is their customer service. I've only needed to reach out to them a couple of times, but I never waited long to get someone on the line. Their reps were very competent, and my questions were answered quickly.

Cons

I had issues with W2 and W3 reporting with SSA, but it was not Patriot's fault at all. I didn't have time to resolve electronic filing issues with the SSA, so I needed to mail physical copies. Since specific color forms are required for that, I couldn't simply print the W2s as generated by Patriot. Patriot's W2 and W3 files are perfect for electronic filing. Just not mail filing. I had to finagle a Word Doc with all the necessary info spaced out in hard-to-guess ways. It took a number of hours, but I got it. It worked out in the end. But it would have been AMAZING if Patriot had been able to give me a file that had all the info spaced out on the page where it needed to be, in order to simply print onto a W2 or W3 form. I have no idea if that's possible, or how it could be done. But OMG, my life would have been so less stressful for those couple of days!

Very happy that I made the switch after using another payroll provider for over 30+ years.

Pros

User-friendly; allows me to run a payroll on my schedule (no additional costs for running an extra payroll); very cost effective. No difficult set up.

Cons

As of now, I have not come across any features I dislike. The four-day direct deposit might be an issue, but that would be upon me for not planning ahead.

Pros

As a New Englander Patriots is my football team, so why not Patriots Software! The name was the draw, the customer service is the prize to keep me.

Cons

Add an emergency contacts tab to the Employee section.

Pros

The software is easy to use to run payroll and also easy to adjust employee information. The customer service is also excellent. Every time I have emailed an issue, they have an answer within 24 hours, often same day.

Cons

I don't really have any negatives. The software has worked well and we haven't had any issues thus far.

We were drawn to the fact the Patriot was less expensive than Quickbooks Online. We use QB for our financials, so considered their payroll feature. But we found that Patriot data was easily pulled in by QB and with the cheaper price, it was a better option for a non-profit. We are very happy with our decision.

A GREAT EXPERIENCE! Easy, can process payroll from anywhere, customer service is top notch!

Pros

The ease of setting up a company and employees was great. It's very easy to process a payroll and if there are any issues, the customer service team is very responsive! The cost of using Patriot is way more affordable than the prior company we were using. Never have regretted the change!

Cons

I haven't found anything that I don't like other than having a quick way to send reports to CPA. Not an issue, just print reports.

Overall it was a good experience and we would recommend Patriot for payroll and taxes.

Pros

Once set up this is a great time-saver for running payroll and paying taxes for small businesses. I liked that I was able to run payroll very quickly and I could relax that the required taxes were being paid for our business. I liked being able to pay our employees direct pay. Our accountant liked being able to run reports and that it integrated into Quickbooks.

Cons

The biggest con that we experienced is that there was too much required time between running payroll and being able to direct deposit checks into our employee accounts, especially once accounts are already established, ach transfers should be able to be done faster, 2 day max, not 3-4 business days min.

This is a very user-friendly and inexpensive way to get payroll done. This software has saved our company a lot of time and money. I would recommend this product to small and medium-size companies.

Pros

The customer support is very effective and made Implementation process very smooth. The process for logging employee hours and applying deductions are very easy to understand and straightforward. This product has a very user-friendly UI that is clean and very intuitive, this makes reporting very flexible. This is a cost effective solution for small companies as long as you do not need extensive job costing integration into an accounting system.

Cons

The direct deposit functionality is very restrictive at times and they require that the payroll is processed by Monday for it to be distributed to the employee's account on Friday. Patriot Payroll does use ADP as a third party to do the direct deposits. This doesn't really work well with our paperless environment. After you have entered hours you can not go back and correct any mistakes you may have made on a payroll deduction. This is frustrating at times. You have to delete the entire payroll, edit the deduction and then re-enter the payroll. This makes the software feel very clunky, an alternative would be to approve the payroll void the incorrect check and then re-run another payroll.

Tony, as of December 2018, we no longer use a third party to manage direct deposit. Everything is seamless and in our software. Did you know that if you are paying your employees by direct deposit, and have set them up with the free employee portal, no printing is necessary on your end? Employees can log in to their employee portal and download paystubs from their if needed, making your payroll paperless. :)

It has been great. User interface, customer service, , all have been direct, clear, and super easy.

Pros

The platform is clear and easy to use, and data is easily accessible and available in many formats. The price is affordable for my small business, and is not gouging us with basic services.

Cons

I have appreciated the email heads up for when banks are closed and payroll needs to be done a day earlier, but I didn't receive one for the week of Thanksgiving and ended up needing to do a wire to get direct deposit in time. I wish there was some sort of automated notification for processing payroll that Patriot could add to my calendar and update for when payroll is shifted

Pros

That is is easy to use, Patriot helps you setup your information if you transferring from another payroll software. Able to pay contractors as well as employees and very easy to use when doing year end W-2's and 1099's.

Major benefit is Patriot is less expensive than ADP and easier to use.

Pros

To generate a payroll period, it is straight forward. I appreciate the fact of Patriot taking care of the tax filings. I also appreciated that they automatically added the FFCRA paid leave and paid FLMA leave . I greatly appreciate their customer service personnel. They appear to train them well and are actually helpful either knowing the answer/solution or will inquire with a supervisor to get an answer if at all possible. If not, they are great in following up with an answer or simply responding that they are still researching.

Cons

Navigating through reports could be improved by having a link on every report window to go back to the Report menu rather than having to use the side menu bar. When navigating EE time cards, it would be nice to have the dates appear at the top of the page as you scroll down to enter other hours to ensure you are entering on the correct day. I would prefer EE timecards would open to the pay period to be entered versus the next pay period due to the date they are entering their hours. Many people end up entering their hours in the upcoming time card versus the time card and time period still to be processed. Improvements to adding Group Term Life income at the end of the year could also be a suggestion. Some reports need to be enhanced utilizing the Department data they have recently added. It needs to be an option on which one sort on. Anniversary reports have difficulty calculating total time for EE who had a break in service.

I like the payroll part of the software very much. I had a couple of employees with garnishments that had to be processed and this program allows that while the one I was using, I had to manually figure that each week.

Pros

It's simplicity and integration with the accounting software.

Cons

The payroll checks don't list individually in the check register, so it's sometimes hard to reconcile with the bank account.

Pros

I appreciate the Patriot Payroll ease of use. As an accountant, it is simple to set up a new client and get them started with processing payroll correctly. Training them on the software is equally simple.

Cons

The only complaint I have is that it is not always easy for new clients to process payroll for a Friday direct deposit with a Monday holiday in the same week. New clients need to realize the payroll can be run before getting started on a long holiday weekend.

The general ledger is great, the payroll feature is very easy to set up and use. in a nut shell I couldn't run my business without the help of Patriot. Oh, and the chat is also useful and the customer service has always been available to help.

Cons

I don't care for the fact i have to pay for time and tracking and time management so I currently do it manually. But that's ok, not hard to keep track of my small crews vacation and sick time.

I chose Patriot because they are independent of major software companies. They are an underdog like myself, and together Patriot helps me succeed. They are my business partner, the other companies are deep and dark and could care nothing for my business. Patriots customer service is great.

Pros

Patriot is super intuitive and for a small company that doesn't have a very complex payroll need it has been just what we need with the nice bells and whistles of a easy user interface and the increased need we have around income tax due to local needs. We are super happy we switched to Patriot and only wish we had done it sooner.

Cons

If direct deposits could happen faster after we initiate the payroll that would be nice but we were able to slightly adjust our payroll timeline and have built the time into our payroll processing to address this.

Overall its the simplest payroll system we have used at our company and we recommend it. Our employees also prefer this system and love the employee portal.

Pros

Great Customer support! The payroll, HR, and reports features are very user friendly. If you need help you can get customer support on the phone or chat in about 5 minutes and they will walk you through any changes, access tax docs, advanced reports features, and answer questions on any part of their software you don't understand.

Cons

They could improve on communication of an important tax change or upcoming withdrawals like- deferred social security deduction. One time it was taken from our account and I wasn't aware until after it happened.
