Executive Director Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Small Non-profit loves Patriot Payroll" May 8, 2020 5.0 Patriot Payroll is reliable and everything gets handled in a timely manner. We switched from using a local (rather grumpy) accountant. Being a small non-profit, we were definitely not a priority. It took at least a month to get reports back and we would be charged for every extra thing we asked for. My stress level has dropped significantly! Pros It is easy to use and was easy to set up. The support staff at Patriot Payroll were awesome. It is flexible so we can add bonuses, have salary and hourly employees. The tax filings are handled automatically which is super helpful - I don't have to stress about them at all. There is excellent communication particularly about bank holidays. The reports embedded in the system are readily available and customizable which was super helpful when I was filling out the forms for SBA PPP money - I didn't have to wait on someone to prepare the reports for me. Cons This product totally meets our payroll needs. Reason for choosing Patriot Payroll I have helped with the accounts at my son's printing business. They had Quick Books at the time and QB charged us a fee for every current and past employee. That annoyed me so I knew I wasn't going use that service. They also did not do the quarterly tax filings. I heard about Patriot Payroll on the radio and tried to convince my boss to switch which he did not want to do. When he left and I became the Executive Director, signing up for Patriot Payroll was one of the first things I did, Review Source DW DJ W. What I find best is the personal customer service both through chat and on the phone. Pros This product is intuitive and extremely easy to use to run payroll and find reports or information that I need. It has the exact features that I want without being overly complicated. I also appreciate the tax filing services and end of year reporting and filing for all my employees and 1099 subcontractors. Cons I find the PTO recording and reporting difficult, but I may just need more education. I use it at least twice a month for payroll services, so they have kept me on time with payroll txs. More than that, I LOVE that a real person answers when you call with any questions. And Even More, I had a problem occur last year that snowballed into a big problem (not on Patriot's part), but they were there to assist and help to resolve the whole mess that occurred!!!! I love them for that reason. Thank You Thank You is all I can say. One less thing to worry about when running your own business. I appreciate having these guys on my team. They (especially \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\]) were SO GREAT to work with to unravel the dilemma we were in with the IRS. Pros I found this program Easy to use and the reports are good too. And they do just as much as gusto. I recommend it to all my clients. They have excellent customer service. I have not had an issue with them. Pros Price is excellent especially for what you get. Cons When sending over to QB doesn't exactly send over as it hits the bank so you have to adjust so bank can be reconciled. For example, the employer and employee taxes are separated even though they are withdrawn as one lump sum. Pros The software was very simple to set up use, even for someone with very little payroll experience. The chat with us feature is an asset as knowledgeable team members would always answer questions in a timely manner (even during busy times). Lastly, the best part, is as a full service customer, tax reporting was handled through Patriot, so I didn't have to go through that arduous process quarterly. Pros I love how easy Patriot is to use. It used to take me so much time to calculate payroll and to make sure it's correct. I love that I simply have to input the hours and the payroll is calculated for me and deposits are made. This software frees up so much time and worry for me. Cons It's a little tricky to run reports for payroll, it's not as intuitive as I would like it to be. Reason for choosing Patriot Payroll It was cheaper and allowed me to do it myself. They have very friendly staff and support is located in the US which is a huge plus. I appreciate their speed to help me resolve any issue I might have. The only hick-up I had was when I forgot to update my payment card, and Patriot software still kept my account live until I got the card updated. Pros The software is very straight forward and user friendly. When ever I am met with a sticking point, the customer service team has always been upbeat, friendly, and able to most importantly solve my issues! Cons Just before printing someones paystub or check, the system provides an automated pop up window announcing the next withdraw for taxes will be "$,$$$" for example. It would be nice to know what the payment amount was allocated out for; employee total versus employer total. Heck maybe there is a report that shows just that and I'm not aware... Pros It's easy to find the information you're looking for and run reports that may be needed. For our smaller business, it's been a great fit. We spend significantly less on these services as well, which is always helpful! Cons It seems that processing times are slower than if you're used to working with a company like ADP. For instance, if you need to make changes to your account, to payroll dates, etc, it is less flexible. Patriot needs more time. Usually this isn't a big deal but occasionally, it's a pain. Due to the nature of the how Patriot is set up, it's a bit harder to get questions answered when you have them. At times, it would be very helpful to talk to someone there directly vs. going through your agent. Pros Employee portal user ease, Inexpensive Cons 1: EMployees leaving notes for their time cards are not time stamped. If the employee doesn't write down the date they need me to adjust their timecard i have to track them down which is a waste of time. 2: I have Managers that check time cards in/out and see if it matches when they actually left. These managers have access to all pay info, Salaries/hourly wages. I should be able to create a manager user that only allows them to check time cards and not have access to other sensitive info. 3: Patriot software doesn't work for my graveyard crew clocking in and out. There seems to always be a glitch when they clock out for lunches and breaks. so we've told everyone's that works graveyard not to clock out for lunches or breaks. Grave yard hours are from 11pm-7:30am & 7pm-7am. It seems that around 6 am the system changes. but that's the issue I have. I'm a CPA and have been doing quarterly reporting for many years. QB allowed me to print reports to make my online reporting very easy.
