Patriot was recommended by my personal accountant before opening my own investment firm and it was a terrific recommendation as Patriot keeps it easy to use!

Pros

Ease of use and helpful customer service.

Cons

Only concern is that they continue to keep it simple to use. More complicated would be a huge negative as I can now do payroll in 10 minutes or less!

### "Perfect for the small non-profit"

We needed a payroll-only service for less than 5 employees that would not cost us a fortune in monthly subscription fees. We also wanted something that would work seamlessly with QuickBooks, and have the ability to manage tax filing as well. Patriot Payroll does all this and more!

Pros

Patriot is a good fit for us because it is easily scalable. As our number of employees fluctuates, making changes is just a few clicks to update. As we grow and need more services, Patriot meets those needs as well. The reports are easy to use and provide exactly the data we need, including SBA and Covid reporting tools. Running payroll is a breeze.

Cons

The initial set up to import existing payroll was a bit tricky, so take your time and make sure you have all your data current and available to make this easier.

### "Best bang for your buck!"

We are a nonprofit that watches every dollar and Patriot Payroll helps us save money and have excellent payroll/timekeeping integrity.

Pros

Patriot Payroll is easy to set up and easy to use. The employees all are able to have an online timesheet so I don't have to handle emailed timesheets. Patriot also takes care of all our quarterly tax reporting. Integration with QuickBooks Online is necessary.

Cons

When I open Patriot, it opens to the "payroll" tab and I usually need to work on timesheets first, so opening to the dashboard would be more convenient. I have searched for a way to change what is opened first and have consulted with my QBO proadvisor.

Pros

It's easy to use. It balances having many features without being too convoluted. Plus, it's one of the most affordable payroll services. I also love that I can easily call the company and talk to a real person. QuickBooks integration is a plus, as well. I like that it's easy to add mileage and other reimbursements, as well as custom categories of wages or other reimbursements. It's also nice that there are employee portals where employees can easily access payroll information and change their direct deposit without payroll staff having to do anything. I would happily recommend Patriot to anyone, especially cost-conscious customers. I'm very happy with our choice to use Patriot.

Cons

Navigation through webpages and some of the reports could be a little easier, but it's not much of a problem.

Pros

I have tried other software and always come back to patriot software. I have absolutely no complaints. Their software is easy to use and their customer service couldn't be any better. I have never waited on hold with them and they always give me the answer simply.

Cons

I have no complaints with patriot software.

Pros

Pros

It has chat section in their customer care service and this awesome and too fast to get information, request help and send quick feedback. Price is perfectly matched, it is just excelllent. Reporting is awesome as well as the search tool. It's too fast to pay by employee section.

Cons

Though everyone says that it is simple to use, I found their interface a little bit clunky and difficult. And other things are just great. Everything is working properly.

Pros

Patriot Payroll is very easy to use. Really love the large fonts and clear layout! All sections are user-friendly, including editing current employee info and entering payrolls. Compared to my last payroll provider, a major national company, Patriot's interface is ridiculously user-friendly. In addition, I've had to contact them a few times and they are always very fast to respond and take care of my needs. The customer service reps are knowledgeable about payroll issues as well as the product, which is a relief. Very happy!

Cons

A little bit more editing/filtering power in reports would be helpful.

Pros

This software is very user friendly with many help articles that are easy to access if needed. It was quite easy to get up and running once we decided to go with Patriot. But more than the software, their customer service is top notch and that is what I truly love about Patriot. Sure, I can access the help articles if I have a question, but sometimes you just want to speak to a person for an explanation and they are so helpful and friendly. I always have a good experience when I speak to them!

Cons

So far the features we use satisfy our needs, Time Cards and Payroll. We do not use the HR or Accounting software. The only feature that I think could be improved is some of the reports. There was a specific report my accountant asked for regarding the SUTA, FUTA, and something else that he said should be all in one. I just can't remember right now what that was. Instead I had to use 2 or 3 different reports and manually figure out the sum for each quarter.

The customer service is great! I have used both the online chat as well as the phone customer service.

Pros

The pricing for Patriot Software is so much better than my previous payroll company. I have been able to get answers to my questions almost immediately! Switching over to Patriot Software was quite easy and fast.

Cons

I would like emails send to employees whenever they get paid. I don’t like the 4 day delay for payment or you have to prefund the account. I would like an app for the employees to checkin on their time cards along with a geofence. Patriot Software doesn’t import into quicken or a neat excel format. I don’t know how my account will like the reports I send. Yet to be determined.

Overall experience has been great. I use this software for all my clients and recommend this software constantly to colleagues and business owners.

Pros

I love the ability to run customized reports quickly and easily. I frequently need to run weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual reports. This software makes that extremely easy at both the employee level and the company level.

Cons

The only issue I had with 401(k) maxing done all at once at year end. I had trouble getting the 401(k) contribution to deduct when someone was looking to contribute the maximum remaining regular and catch-up amount to their 401(k) through the final payroll of the year. I was not able to find a solution for that.

The price is significantly less and the service team is available quickly through the chat function whenever I need an answer to something same day.

I have had clients on basic service and on full-service. Basic service is great for direct deposits and getting reports. Full-service does everything after you enter payroll. There was one instance where they didn't make a state tax deposit on time but they were very good about getting the deposit made and paying the late penalty.

Pros

I love the full service payroll. They take care of everything. You MUST know what you're doing, however, to use this software. You have to know what the results should look like.

Cons

I have found nothing real to not like about the software. I sent a chat to them early on in my use asking about getting a net-to-gross function. They contacted several weeks later to clarify my request and to include me in an online meeting with their development team!

### "Easy, especially if you have never done payroll"

We started this non-profit to help young adults aging-out of the foster system (secondshiftalabama.org) because we saw the need, but I had never done payroll. When I found Patriot software, I did not feel intimidated. Their instructions were very user-friendly and the task of payroll felt easy. I had to call customer service once or twice to help with a little terminology but they walked me through the setup steps quickly. Payroll is not a headache as I thought it would be. It is a pleasure to use this product.

Pros

Easy, Explanatory. If you miss something on setup, it doesn't let you fail.

Cons

No complaints. I had never done payroll before and it is so easy.

Patriot finishes out the taxes and all allowing my clients to focus on running their business instead of filing and paying taxes.

Pros

Patriot makes setting up payroll as easy as possible. They assist in so many ways when necessary. The ease of running payroll is unbelievable. I have worked with other payroll companies and they by far are the best.

Cons

I have had a few suggestions of how they have the report section is set up but I can get what I need with some tweaking. I also would like an automatic setting for salary runs.

Always a great experience. Patriot has never made a mistake and fixes mine quickly and easily. Has all the features of a great payroll service without the endless sales pitch, high prices, and untrue promises about great customer service.

Pros

Website is easy and clear to navigate. They are at the fraction of the price of the more well know payroll services. Their customer service is excellent and always available during business hours. Allow you to file on your own for less.

Cons

The direct deposit could be faster but not at all a game changer for us.

Overall, I'm a satisfied Patriot customer. The software is missing some things, but I'm hopeful the new price increase will bring some updates. Even with the change, I think it's still a good value.

Pros

Customer support is top notch. Generally, it's easy to work with. Patriot integrates with QBO as well which is nice. When you go with Full Service Payroll, they do all the filing and paying for you. For the price, it's hard to beat. I'd recommend it.

Cons

Patriot needs more report options. It's lacking in this area. It also needs better integration with QBO (ability to separate Officer Compensation from Employee Compensation for example). I had issues with printing checks as well, but we could never figure out what the issue was unfortunately. The direct deposit lead time is and has been an Achilles heel for them. The setup process is a little cumbersome as well. Lots of extra steps compared to IOP4A.

My over all experience has been very good, I don't have any issues with the platform at all. Other then when I was setting up my account, I don't think I have ever called into there customer service for help with anything.

Pros

Its web site is very easy to use and very user friendly. I tried other payroll services in the past, and some of there web sites was near impossible to understand let alone move around in.

Cons

The best thing I like about Patriot other then its pricing, is my ability to print a check anywhere I happen to be working. I travel a lot and I am not always in the office on paydays.

So far, so good. The times I needed assistance, Patriot has been very responsive, thorough and patient. Patience is important.

Pros

Patriot will file and fund all tax entities in a timely manner. Plus do all of the payroll calculations. Our employees like the direct deposit. Decades ago, with another business, I had to do all payroll and tax filings manually. Having a service like this would have freed up hours upon hours of time.

Cons

Setting up the state accounts was a bit tricky, but that's not Patriot's fault.

Pros

Patriot is easy to set up, support is hands on if needed but also does not send dozens of emails and messages a day pushing you to move quicker or finish enrolling like competitors.

### "Value for the money"

It is very easy to create payroll, 941, 940, and W2s. Very user friendly

Pros

Very easy to install, input employee information, and start the payroll process.

Cons

Due to security policies, they recently changed the way the routing number and account numbers appear when we process a refund. This is a feature I don't like. We have to look for the original check to find the routing/account numbers or call the customer service which is a time consuming process. I don't think it is a big issue to leave the whole numbers like how it used to be or you can add another password question to show the full number instead of us going looking for the original checks to find the numbers.
