Pros

I would assume every payroll software is relatively similar once set up. With Patriot's full service plan, the set up was even easier and a breeze compared to trying to set up payroll with competitors or even my bank. Aside from just set up, there is a ton of helpful information on the site so I don't have to consult with support often.

Cons

It feels a little more "old" design-wise. For me, this isn't a problem since it functions the way I need it to.

Very satisfied.

Pros

I love it because it is so easy to use and takes me no time at all each payday to set it up. THE best feature is that is so much cheaper than when I did the payroll manually in house. The second best feature is that Patriot does all the tax payment deposits and prepares all the tax returns and does all the filing for me as part of the service. No more being late with a payment or a return. No more penalties from the various governmental agencies.

Cons

If I had any one criticism, it would be that when I first set it up as a new client, I was confused about how to best input the year-to-date numbers for that part of the year that I did the payroll. It was a one time thing and once that was done, it has been clear sailing ever since. I had to call customer service and they helped me out on the first call. Great customer service.

Great company so far. No issues

Pros

This software is very easy to use especially if you are doing a smaller payroll. Great for access anywhere.

Cons

Really I haven't found much that I do not like. I don't utilize the full tax payroll, only the standard version and it is perfect for my needs. I guess the only down side is the PTO/Vacation function. You must manually enter each accrual increase each payroll before processing and if you forget it doesn't get added to paycheck. However that is a small issue.

\[sensitive content hidden\] on the help team is amazing!!!!!! This is all very complex and I needed someone patient and knowledgable to guide me through. \[sensitive content hidden\] did exactly that.

Pros

For someone with very little accounting experience, I needed my bookkeeper to set up the payroll. Once I knew to approve the payroll every month, it appears to be running smoothly these first two months. The team was also helpful in linking it to my accounting software so I did not have to manually entire the payroll.

Cons

The software does what is needed. My challenge is not knowing enough about accounting to know what to enter.

Customer service is prompt, friendly, and helpful. When a mistake was made, they took responsibility for it and covered the fees involved. Payroll input is fairly simple, though any changes made to an employee's info must be done before you start the payroll or you have to cancel the entire payroll and start again after the employee info has been updated.

Pros

It is fairly easy to use, and if you don't know how to do something, customer support is very helpful and prompt to respond.

Cons

Any changes made to an employee's info must be done before you start the payroll or you have to cancel the entire payroll and start again after the employee info has been updated. i.e. if you forget to add a wage change to one employee's info and discover this during the payroll data entry process, you have to cancel your work, update the wage info for the employee, and then start the payroll all over again.

Cons

Our scheduling software doesn't integrate, so we have to manually enter hours. Fortunately, it's easy!

We were unable to proceed with Patriot full-time because the software did not have the capacity in the description line of invoicing to leave more than a sentence explanation. Very Frustrating!! After reaching out to customer service to see if they could add additional space (it should be unlimited) the response was that we could not speak to a manager or get it resolved - they seemed happy to let us walk away.

Pros

Simple use. The ability to email multiple emails w/ invoicing. We were not able to fully use the payroll system due to the flaw in the description section - See Overall Experience Review

Overall the pros outweigh the cons and I will continue to use the software.

Pros

Very easy to use. From the time I log in to completion is 5 minutes for two employees. Lots of reports. Direct Deposit for employees. Seamless process

Cons

For cons, I have two things that are issues: 1. Turn-around time. Five full business days are required from the time I process payroll to when the paychecks are deposited. If there is a holiday during the week, the deposit will be further delayed. In today’s world where money moves instantly, this feels archaic. 2. Not easy to get the reports you need. It would make sense if the employee’s paystub was immediately available after processing the payroll. Instead, you must go through three layers of reports to get the paystub. The same is true with the Payroll Registry so the data can be entered in my accounting software. Rather than have the obviously needed report readily available you must go to another reporting page.

I can't say enough how it's easy to understand and use for folks that are non-HR/accounting/bookkeeping. Accounting/bookkeeping is not my main function and this software is SO user friendly and clean that it's a pleasure to use and doesn't frustrate me like other accounting/payroll software

Cons

I haven't found anything yet. Hoping the accounting software changes a bit, but the payroll software is awesome!

Nothing beat the price. It does what any small businesses need it to. not to mention, the additional 1099 feature and contractor payments.

Pros

I have been in business for 30 years. I have used ADP and Wells Fargo Payroll over the years. When I was kicked off of ADP after 10 years because my company was too small I was moved over to Wells Fargo payroll which also after about 10 years I was kicked off of their payroll service I assume because my company was too small (3 employees) and Wells Fargo is still in the payroll business. So I heard this ad on the radio for Patriot Payroll and i gave them a call. After a very easy but thorough transition process and excellent customer service from Patriot I was up and running with my new payroll service. Compared to ADP and Wells Fargo, Patriot software is SO MUCH Better! I enter the hours, commission and approve the payroll and that's it! 3 steps and I'm done. It takes less than 5 minuets. I highly recommend Patriot Payroll service

None! These guys are great. The setup was quick & easy and using the software weekly is a breeze

We really love it.

Pros

The ease of use and cost is fantastic. I really like the onboarding setup although it would be nice if it allowed you to upload your company documents to the portal (for example, NDA, company handbook, offer letters, etc.)

Cons

Needs a few more features like an app for virtual employees and also email reminders for important dates would be most helpful.

Having the software on my computer as a huge time-saver. As long as I put a little time into it every day I don't have a big to do at the end of the week

Pros

It is so nice to have this software because I get so many functions in just one place and I don't have to spend a lot of time because when you are self-employed time is money

Cons

The only way that you could possibly improve this feature is to have automatic functions that happen every week so I don't have to do them LOL for example finishing out payroll for the week

Pros

Very easy to use and simple. Reports are accurate and easy to read. Payroll is so easy my young daughter can operate it.

Accurate, easy to use payroll service at an affordable price with great support.

Pros

Without a doubt, some of the best customer service on the internet with immediate online chat anytime you have a question. When you are doing payroll and need an answer, you do not want to have to send an email or sit on hold. You want answers fast and I have never been disappointed in the speed, knowledge or helpfulness of the chat support. The user interface and features are nothing fancy, but get the job done.

Cons

I wish I had more control over my coding of labor distribution. I used QuickBook Desktop payroll service for years and had complete control of the coding of wages to multiple labor codes regardless of wage types(hourly, salary, commission. Later I had to change over to QuickBooks Online (QBOL) payroll service and lost much of this control. Patriot Payroll is a fractioin of the cost of QBOL and just as good.

This is a product that I cannot say enough about. and In the very few cases where I have needed assistance they have product support like I've never seen before. Patient, smart humans will take all the time I need to help me with any issue, without exception.

Pros

It is super easy to use from setting it up. Once set up it is quick complete and a truly perfect solution for a smaller business.

Cons

Not really a con, but sometimes I have to look around to find what I need, but it's all there and easy to use even for a non accountant.

This software is super easy to use. We have everything at our fingertips including reporting. Our employees love the portal to view all of their info. On the rare occasions we need any assistance, the wait time is minimal if at all and everyone I’ve ever spoken with is very helpful and courteous.

Other than the few functions I feel it's missing, I love it.

Pros

The simplicity of use and employee setup.

Cons

We have multiple job sites that each employee works. I don't have enough space to keep all of the sites on the paycheck, so I have to edit the sites as well as the dollar per hour every single payroll. If I miss one, I have to back out and start completely over. It is super frustrating and time consuming

Overall it is a good experience. The software does as advertised. My needs are very simple compared to a larger company, so the advanced features do not apply to or appeal to me. However, staying current and compliant, as well as never missing a filing date is peace of mind that is worth the cost of full service payroll.

Pros

Patriot offered an easy to operate, mid-priced solution to get and stay compliant with state and federal payroll filing requirements. Once setup it was easy to perform weekly payroll calculations and Patriot handled the quarterly filing burdens.

Cons

The software did basically as advertised. As a single employee my payroll needs were not great, but I appreciated not having to worry about missing a filing date. However, as a small business costs are always top of mind a concern and there was a fairly large monthly increase about one year into using the software.

Every time I've contacted customer service, they have been responsive and answered my question or solved my problem.

Pros

The full service payroll pays taxes and files returns automatically. I don't even need to check a box and "submit" or anything. I don't have to think about payroll after I create the checks. They even export/import to my accounting software without me having to do a thing!

Cons

Most of my clients are spoiled by having the payroll taxes deduct from their accounts when the taxes are due. With Patriot (and like most payroll services) payment for taxes comes out of their account immediately. This is only an issue (and a deal breaker) with some of my clients who have tight cash flow.
