I only wish other businesses were as easy and user friendly as Patriot! Pros I do not have a business degree but I have my own medical practice. I used other companies for payroll and they repeated made mistakes and were expensive. I switched to Patriot 2 years ago and have been so happy about my choice! The staff was very helpful getting set up and once I was set up, it is so easy to use! I would never return to the big companies! I recommend Patriot to all of my colleagues! Cons The ONLY con is that it takes 5 business days to get the payroll done, so if there is a holiday and we forget it falls in the middle of the week, I end up having to hand write the payroll instead of direct deposit. It is generally easy to make updates or changes to payroll and processing Christmas Bonus payments was really easy and the service person was very helpful to assure I did it correctly the 1st time. Pros It offers almost every feature one would need for payroll operations. The site is really easy to use and simple to learn about items you are unsure of for processing payroll, payroll taxes etc. Cons Extra steps to access are not appreciated as I am on the run alot and waiting now for codes to log into my site to do payroll is pushing me to doing this part of my job at night after hours so I can be in a central place to wait for "codes" to continue to log in. I understand the effort for security but really do not believe that anyone who would try to hack my account would not have already hacked my phone or email where the code comes in...I think answering a question once in the site before being able to proceed would offer more security and less impact on my time. Pros I was looking for a payroll service that I could use at anytime of the day. We are a seasonal business. When we are in season we work long hours and many days straight. I usually run payroll very late at night and Patriot Payroll is easy to use. Our payroll taxes are paid on time, payroll is created within minutes and I can sleep knowing our payroll is done and done correctly! The payroll add-on was so expensive and I had to file and pay all of my reports to the IRS, and state and local taxing authorities! By switching to Patriot all I have to do is record the transactions and file all the reports of collections, payments and filings. By switching my nerves are settled and calm knowing that everything is taken care of and is correct! No pressure now. Pros The cost for the services and the scope of the services provided. Cons I don't know of anything I dislike about Patriot Software. Patriot Payroll lets me avoid needing to calculate and file all of the payroll-related tax forms. Pros It was cheaper than any other option I found, and the pricing was transparent. I like that I can schedule payroll transactions in advance so that I don't need to remember to run payroll on a specific date. Cons While I can schedule payroll transactions in advance, it would be nice to be able to schedule them to recur every month automatically, as I just have a single monthly payment to make. The customer service and how it actually handles all of my taxes and an American Company! Cons I would love for the time cards to automatically populate to payroll, but it is not a big deal. It would be nice if direct deposit would deposit a little more quickly, but we have a schedule now, and this too is not a big deal. They hire out customer service and will not let you complain about quickbooks just the customer service, and I could not talk to anyone, and they were not allowed to do anything for me. Cons Having only used Patriot for the trial period plus two months, I have not found anything I can even suggest to improve your product or support. Very few companies support seasonal businesses in this way. When I had made an error, the customer service rep was able to understand my error and guide me how to fix it. Pros Learning to use Patriot Payroll was quick and easy. it is extremely self explanatory and their online support was very helpful while setting up the program. Cons The only issue we have had is that we can't divide the hours on payroll per employee for different L&I rates. For example, our crew will sometimes work an interior job and an exterior job in the same pay period which have very different L&I rates but as far as I know there is no way to select different codes for different hours. Finally a payroll program I don't have to constantly doublecheck. First I had an accountant who was frequently missing tax deadlines, misspelling names, incorrect calculations etc. Next I tried another payroll software who never paid my taxes on time. I always had to go on and take care of my own state and federal taxes. At first I was checking up on Patriot but quickly gained the confidence that my tax filings are being done correctly and on time. They also have excellent customer service. I highly recomment. Pros Reliability! Easy to use Correct tax withholdings On time tax payments Accurate time and PTO tracker Cons I have not tried integrating this with Quickbooks yet. Owner Health, Wellness and Fitness Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Great product but service could be improved" September 25, 2020 5.0 My experience is overall good. Just one issue. I received an email from Patriot letting me know they were not able to charge my account to my business debit card. They had charged the previous months with no issue. I tried to re-enter my card information but the Patriot website would not accept the card. I called Patriot about this and the customer service rep. said that it appeared to be an issue with my zip code. I contacted my bank and they confirmed my zip code as correct. I had misplaced my wallet a few weeks earlier and asked my bank to freeze all my personal accounts until I located it. When I located it, I contacted my bank and asked them to un luck my personal accounts. I leave all my corporate cards at my place of business and did not have my business debit card in my wallet and did not ask my bank to freeze any of my business accounts. Because i rarely use my business debit and Patriot is the only Automatic withdrawal I have on that card, they were the only entity unable to process payments. It turns out my bank did freeze my corporate card, I just didn't know this. So multiple times calling my bank about a zip code was not solving the problem. Then within a week or so of my last call to Patriot, I received an email saying my account had been cancelled and they were refunding any tax payment s made. I just wish they had made other recommendations besides a possible zip code error. They didn't even suggest using a different card. Pros Ease of setup. Well designed website that is easy to navigate. Fair pricing. Cons I really have no issues with the software, it performance is really good! They people are very nice and helpful. Pros The best part of this product is that I can do our own payroll rather than pay an expensive accountant to do it, or go through the arduous task of learning how to do it myself. I also looked into using QuickBooks but that too required an accountant to set it up as well as a learning curve for myself. Patriot assisted with our account set up and it's been running like a dream ever since. When I get any payroll related tax or payroll documents in the mail, I send them in (it's rare) but they help me sort it out. Cons The only negative is that I think they're very busy and sometimes it takes a bit for them to get back to me. Otherwise, I have zero complaints. It's the best product for our business.
