Pros They pick up the line when calling in to Customer Support. Cons Accessing the training videos is a hassle on top of a hassle. It was not a simplified process. \[sensitive content hidden\] explained that you need to select "Help Info" at the top of your screen, then type in whatever it is you are searching for. When initially performing a specific search under "Help Info", this would bring up articles rather than training videos. In this regard, the site is not user friendly. Additionally, in speaking with Customer Support over time I became aware there is a lack of clarity and individual support. The default response to a majority of my calls made for specific support in using the product was "I do not have an answer for you; go to our website and perform a search under "Help Info" or play around with it; you're smart." Customers do not always have time to do so and receiving a rote response when calling for "support" is not helpful in any case. Staff must be trained specifically for this reason. I recommend this accounting system as a well-satisfied user. Pros This software as I mentioned in the title it is extremely user-friendly for even non-finance people and also those who are new to accounting and SME business. I have been using it and most of the time I could manage by myself without getting information from my data entry assistant due to their well-organized features. Moreover, if I do need to get any assistance from their customer support team, always address immediately to my queries without any delay. It was great since we were busy clients and fulfill our requirements with full satisfaction. At last, but not least their prices are more affordable as much as lower and value for paid money. Cons I just experienced a few problems at the beginning with setting up the system, But there are plenty of video tutorials available for troubleshooting that are very useful and the customer service is very effective and readily available to address our queries then and there to resolve Review Source Jenni K. Being able to reach support as needed and get timely help has been a huge factor in our conversion. Pros Patriot is the best software for simple hourly or salary. The customer service, especially the live chat, is always helpful and on target. Cons The 4 day turn around for direct deposit prevents us from using Patriot for more clients, and they really need to add a net to gross option. An override for federal and state withholding would make Patriot 5 stars all around. It's not always intuitive with where to find things, but over the year + we've used it they've made a few great improvments (like multi hour wages, and pto tracking). Pros We use in a wide variety of industries (restaurant, retail, day care, and more). I love how I can set it up for a client, and show them briefly how to run their own payroll. Very easy for simply payrolls. Cons My biggest pet peeve is the inflexibility of making tax adjustments. For Example: a restaurant where they pay out tips each night means that a check would be for sever hours only, usually about $40 for the week. The tips justify enough taxes that they end up with a negative paycheck. In any other system I can manually adjust the taxes held to get the check to zero or close. (the server ends up owing money at the end of the year). With PS, I have to come up with other options for getting the paycheck to zero (like getting the business to cover the taxes in the meantime). I have no worries about payroll taxes, tax filings, errors, and the like. All of my questions have been addressed with the super Customer Service team. I use the software several times a week and always get the information that I need quickly. Pros User friendly interface, intuitive, and very easy to set up. I love having the basics of accounting software, not all the extras that I don't need that clutter up the screen. The main screen takes you to exactly what function you need. Pros Can send our customers estimates and invoices directly from the software. Customers can pay directly also, or we can select not to pay by CC if desired. All of our accounting needs in one software makes it easier for our accountants. Cons We use a lot of symbols when creating estimates and invoices. Symbols such as inches, feet, dashes. The software cannot read them correctly, and then weird symbols get put in their place, thus making us have to redo and alter how we would like to have our estimates/invoices read. Also, we sometimes need to put a long description for our product, and in some areas the character amounts are limited and all of it will not fit. Another thing is, when an estimate is "Accepted" by our customer, thus then being converted to an invoice, the project notes do not transfer over to the invoice, as the content of the estimate does. The price and features as compared to other similar products. Payroll is completed within minutes each week - granted we have a smaller team but the process is seamless. Multiple pay periods each month for the same price - others you need to pay for each payroll/month. Cons Honestly, thus far things have been going very smoothly. The only issue we have had is an issue with funds being released at the end of of our 1st quarter for SUTA, resulting in a delay with the state - but Patriot took quick actions and made things right. Reason for choosing Patriot Software Customer support and price point was a deciding factor. While we have not opted in for the accounting software, the price point for this is also well below some of the competition and integrates into payroll. It appears a few IRS forms are not available and I would like a feature to keep track of self employment tax and estimated tax payments that may be due to help me better meet my tax responsibilities. Reason for choosing Patriot Software I want to understand my business inside and out. Outsourcing leaves it in the hands of others which is great but doesn't allow me to know my numbers. I have always been able to contact support and get answers to my questions (even if I didn't like the answer because a feature was unavailable). There is somewhat a lack of communication to partners. Pros is easy to set up and easy to use. Everything is spelled out on the screen. There are very minimal clicks to accomplish basic payroll tasks. Patriot is also VERY up-to-date on tax law changes and communicating to users. Support is knowledgeable and hold times are very reasonable. Cons Ability to schedule different employees into different pay schedules. Lack of job costing. Lack of ability to pay an employee who works in multiple cities in same week. There is some difficulty of converting hours to decimals but there are conversion tables easily accessible online. Pros I like that it has the features for acquiring and distributing tax each pay period. Cons I do not like that when there is a Holiday or weekend that falls on a pay date that I have to pay extra for Wire Transfer. This happens a couple of times a year. If it happens twice in one month, it is doubling the cost of the service. And the process was not easy (to find even) but when I contacted Patriot, they quickly walked me through it. Reason for choosing Patriot Software Because of the ease of use and reviews from actual users. I use Jibbl for time cards and it is simple to input hours from Jibble into Patriot Payroll System. Also, they messed up my payroll reporting the first year and I ended up having to deal with the IRS myself to correct their errors. After nearly a year, I finally got things straightened out. Timecard features are easy to use for employees and payroll administration. Adding payroll features such as insurance deductions, 401(k) contributions and payroll advancement deductions are easy to implement and are immediately updated in the system. Patriot makes it easy to find payroll tax filings and keeping track of accrued time-off benefits for employees. I would highly recommend this software for small businesses looking for an easy-to-maintain payroll solution. Cons Some of the payroll tax integrations could be improved on a state-by-state basis. It's not as intuitive if an employee wants to make certain tax deductions (withholding more than just standard deductions). Also, if you have employees who often work at multiple sites, there's no easy way to select the location where the work is performed other than updating the employees profile and changing it on a daily basis when submitting your payroll. Also, it would be nice to have time-off accrual rules built in to the employee profile as opposed to going into the separate module for time-off rules, but this is a very minor issue. Pros The best features about the software are the ease, and simplicity of use. Training new employees to use this software is way less time consuming than other programs. The other feature we love about the software is that Patriot takes care of the impounding, paying and reporting of all taxes. This is a huge time saver for us. Cons The two features I feel Patriot is lacking in is reporting and the robust ability to track PTO. You are very limited in the reports you can get and the rules to set up PTO. With a very small business turning to S Corp. status, an accountant wanted us to hire him and his full on bookkeeping service costing thousands a month and that pill was extremely hard to swallow when sometimes we don’t even make that much per month in profit. I found patriot and not only did we not need to hire the bookkeeping service, we were also able to fire the accountant and do all of our taxes, accounting, and payroll from my humble little laptop at home. Patriot allowed this do it yourselfer the chance to save tons of money and learn new skills at the same time, thank you! Cons Sometimes the link between the software and bank and credit accounts will disconnect/fail but many times thats more the fault of the bank rather than the software. Customer service is amazing in those circumstances though! It was easy to setup and takes very little time each week to complete a payroll. Reports are easy to run and I can quickly see the time off by category for each employee. I don't have to worry about filing quarterly or annual payroll taxes because it is handled by Patriot. Pros is in the cloud so I can run payroll from anywhere, not just in the office. I can also run a payroll the week before it is due in case I am on vacation. It was easy to set up and has excellent technical support.
