If I have a question, I can generally find the answer online but if I have to call, their customer service is excellent! Cons I really can't think of a negative. I have more time that I can spend in developing and managing other areas of my small business. Pros Patriot makes it easy to manage a small (40ish) group of employees on my own. I love that the calculations are automatic, deposits are timely, and taxes are paid by Patriot. Cons As with any product, there is a learning process. Patriot customer service helps along the way if needed, but overall the process was easy and smooth. I used quickbooks in the past and I even hired an Accounting firm to fix the issues that I had to no avail. Most of all - Quickbooks charge extra for sending the tax payments for you. Simply put, you will have to do this yourself. This simple and time consuming task is included in the package. Cons If I have to really be picky - there is not enough default accounts in Accounting, such as expenses. Not really a big deal for every business has different/unique expenses, therefore you simple create one. Patriot provided the best value for the number of users that our organization required. If does not include fund raising and tracking of gifts, which are not a requirement for our organization. Pros Easy to setup. When I had accounting questions the customer support was friendly and answered my questions. Cons Timing of credit card payments marked as paid in Patriot but funds not received for several days from Stripe. Not really an issue after you understand the process and how to reconcile the bank statements. The support team is awesome and the software has saved us mounds of hours when it came to processing payroll. Pros The ease to use this software is outstanding. It takes our staff half the time to process payroll for our clients compared to the system we were using. Cons There are few things that would be great such as having the availability for a client to approve their payroll prior to submission and being able to send reminders directly from the system. Pros Patriot Payroll is easy to use and if you have any questions the customer service team is very knowledgeable and quick to answer any questions. Even when the bank shut down last March, getting everything fixed was very efficient! Cons The main thing that I don't like about Patriot is when you have to make an adjustment while running your payroll. If you forget to change wages or add something to the Employee Profile, you have to start the payroll from the beginning. This has resulted in errors in my payroll. Review Source RG Regina G. I was so thrilled to come across Patriot. With Patriot I do the time keeping and then just plug those numbers in. The payroll is figured for me and I can download and print professional paystubs and checks (plus tax documents) at no extra cost. It even tracks accrued and used time off to the minute and figures in contributions and deductions. I can also print reports and see/print my payroll history at and time, for one or all employees. You can extend the services and do overall accounting, but I just have the basic payroll plan. I did, however, take advantage of the workers compensation insurance that can be figured right from the figures in the payroll and deducted automatically. No more yearly audits and surprise balloon payments. Pros It is easy to use, even for people like me with few accounting skills. It is affordable. Plus they are always improving upon it and responding to customer needs. Cons The only issue I've had is that my time record is in minutes and the Patriot figures are in decimals. I have to convert each emplyee's time. I only have 6 employees so it's not a big deal, but I wish they gave the option to simply enter minutes. Review Source Lam H. April 21, 2016 5.0 We were looking for a low-cost but comprehensive payroll option for our small nonprofit and tried several options: Patriot was the best, by far! It saves up a ton of money, but more importantly, time every month. It's easy to use and very accurate: something critical, given the potential consequences for failing to file/pay taxes--or doing them incorrectly. We are 100% satisfied with Patriot, and would recommend it for anyone! Pros Ease of use Comprehensive service (payroll, taxes, direct deposit, reimbursements, pre-tax expenditures, reports) Customer service (among the friendliest, most competent--which is short supply these days, and fastest I've ever used) VALUE: Patriot is cheaper than all the usable options we tested Cons Only one minor one: it doesn't have automatic payroll processing for those pay periods when we don't have any payroll adjustments. Cons The direct deposit schedule is slower than with other providers, but for the price I can't really company. Many clients are happy with that trade-off. It is a great alternative for our cost conscious non-profit clients and it gives an improved functionality over other Payroll processing software such as Quickbooks Online Payroll. We no longer have to worry about fixing payroll mistakes because the customer support is superior and I've never had an experience that wasn't helpful. Pros This software is easy to use. The Help section is extensive and procedures up to date. Customer support is timely and representatives are knowledgeable. Cons There are situations when pay period dates don't auto-fill. I love Price, the ease of Use and Speed of doing Payroll..... I Used PayChex with a Previous business and it was a Nightmare, always had Problems with Payroll Taxes - They Never applied to tax account properly, Not to mention the ENDLESS hidden FEES.... Pros Easy process to get started and it worked for me just as well with one employee as it does now with 8. It has been easy to grow with software and the online help function handles even some normally difficult questions on how to allocate distributions and contributions all without a full time HR or bookkeeper in house. Cons It has no quick void function that I have found. Like most busy business people, I get things put in and soon as it is done, it alters the debits that it is going to make for taxes etc. on the software side. Sometimes so fast that if I need to make a change, I have to void the entire payroll and redo it. A slight delay between scheduling to pull the money out and the time that payroll is submitted would be helpful.
