CFO Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Happy I switched to Patriot Payroll" July 22, 2025 5.0 I've been very happy with Patriot Payroll for 5 years for 2 different companies, thus 2 different log ins, so I guess I have 10 administrative years of being happy! Pros What's not to love? Easy employee set up, easy weekly payroll entry, easy wire instructions if I enter payroll late, affordable monthly fee, and quick answers to online chat. When I've had to email questions or changes, it may take 1/2 to 1 business day for them to get back to me, but the cheerful and accurate answers are much appreciated. Cons Employees complain about the online portal they use, but as an employee myself, I think the portal works as intended. No complaints. Pros We've been pleased with Patriot Payroll and have used their services for many years. It's easy-to-use, customer/client support is outstanding, and we seldom (if ever) have had bugs in all the years we've been with them. I have recommended Patriot to my business friends and feel they have earned the 5 starts I have them. Cons I can't name a thing that I like least about Patriot Payroll except that a few times there a was a fee that wasn't our company's fault - it was actually an issue between our bank and Patriot. Pros It's really easy to setup and use. The auto taxes and filings work great. The year end package is very complete. Patriot Payroll even allows 1099 e-filing which is simple to use. Cons It's probably there, but I haven't found where to print auto deposited paystubs. You don't get confirmation of tax filings until after the following month, but you can check the status of the filings. The platform is very easy to use. I am a very small business. I don't have time to keep up with all the federal and state payroll regulations. Patriot Software does that for me. When I need support, I always get a live agent RIGHT AWAY! I don't have to try and explain my problem to a robot. The price is remarkably low compared to other services I looked at. Pros Very easy to use. When support is needed, I always get a LIVE agent without having to go through several automated responses first. Cons I honestly cant think of a single aspect that I do not like. I didn't like that you couldn't set up recurring salary payments but that has been added recently. If I have ever needed help there customer Service team is always very Helpful. Pros I have really likes the payroll side it is very easy to use and they will help you file your Federal Taxes at the end of the year. Price is very reasonable. Cons I have not really found anything I have not liked it all has been really easy to use. I use it every week and I have never had a problem with the program. Pros We get so much more for our money than we did on our previous payroll service. Patriot does more for less! I appreciate not having to worry about any of the reports to the IRS. I have not had to contact customer service very often, but they are very responsive and helpful. I was invited to an HR zoom meeting about employee handbooks, which we did not currently have. I have since signed up for that feature and am in the process of creating our handbook. Pros I like that Patriot takes care of all of the Federal and State filings for me. This saves me a lot of time and worry about getting things filed correctly and on time. It was really nice not having to purchase W-2's at year end. An added benefit is that I am paying less with Patriot than the software I was using and getting so much more. Cons I had to get used to turning payroll in five days ahead instead of the two days that I was used to. I missed one time because of a Holiday, but that was totally my fault. The articles are also very relevant and answer questions so you don't have to talk to a person. However, they are always available to answer questions and to remind me of processes that maybe I only do once a year. Pros Very affordable, organized, vetted service that replaces my very expensive bookkeeper. Easy to use and I am secure in their knowledge as I feel their calculations have my back. They have done payroll before and perfected that service before adding on HR and other accounting services. Cons Only con is having a prefunded amount, however, I think of it as a savings account I cannot have access to because I do often have to do next day payrolls. Each person we have spoken with have been easy to understand and offered a great experience to answer our questions and solve our problems. The people we have spoken with have been very easy to speak to and competent, Cons A better way to adjust when there is a banking holiday. We have yet to go over our allowed dollar limit to expedited payroll but I am concerned if we do go over. February 11, 2026 5.0 Signing up was easy, transferring my past records was seemless, the software is quite intuitive and when I do have a question, it gets answered quickly. Pros Having used one of the big payroll management companies before, I can only say it is such a relief to work with a company that cares about small business. I have never had an interaction that was not stellar. Thank you! Cons Not really a con, but I'm a little confused about the titles of reports. I forget the names of the ones I use regularly and have to search for them. If they could allow me to save favorite reports so the next time I need it, I know which report it is, that would be great. I don't like the company name because it is a word that is unfortunately loaded today. May 22, 2026 5.0 I would definitely recommend Patriot to anyone who needs a payroll provider. It's not the cheapest, but they are very competitive and way easier to use than the other provider I was using. Pros I chose Patriot because I was frustrated with my previous vendor and they looked affordable and seemed reasonable. I have been greatly impressed with them since signing on -- their customer support is top notch: super responsive, the FAQs are very helpful, even their chatbot is worth using. I like the modern easy to use interface, and the fact that even the more niche deductions I need with my S-Corp are covered cleanly by the software. Cons I have no complaints about Patriot. This is my 2nd year using them, and everything just works. No complaints! For any questions and issues it has been easy to access customer support, and they have been able to answer all my questions. Cons I don't have any negative experiences with Patriot Payroll. My employees receive their pay on time, and that's what matter most. I especially love that they're a local Ohio company — I trust them to handle Ohio taxes well. Payroll is easy to run, and I get it done much faster than I did with QuickBooks. I may be open to exploring future Patriot Software products in the future. Pros Patriot excels in their customer service. All of their employees are extremely knowledgeable in any issue. I trust that if I have any problems, they will be able to help me right away. Cons I wish billing information was more visible when viewing "My Products". I have a variable amount of employees each month, and I'd like to know how much I'm currently paying. Additionally, I don't care for the 4 day ACH Direct Deposit. My business runs payroll biweekly on Sunday, and as a result of switching my employees now receive payment 2 days later than they're used to. I understand Expedited 2 Day ACH Direct Deposit, but I could not find any information on how to become an "established, well-qualified customer". If there are errors on my end, the Patriot staff are understanding and helpful. If there is an issue on their end, they address it immediately and do not try to deflect it back to me. Pros It's easy to learn, easy to use. Very intuitive. The cost is reasonable and has never been excessive, even in the beginning. Cons No after hours or weekend/holiday assistance when something goes wrong. When the company needs help, we should be able to call someone, even if there is a cost. But support has been wonderful when I call. Pros English speaking US Based support line is the biggest plus for me. They have been able to assist or get me an answer to all my questions when I call. Cons Wish you could send an invite to 1099 vendors to onboard. Still have to do the manual paperwork. Had I have know this I may not have switched to Patriot. Since I have 35 vendors. Wish I could resend invite to "ALL" after the 7 day link expired rather than each one individually. Pros It is extremely easy to set up and use, is a great value for the money, and helps me smoothly run payroll and pay payroll taxes. Further, whenever I have a question or challenge with some aspect of payroll, all I have to do is email customer support and I then receive a prompt, thorough, and thoughtful response that helps me solve the problem I'm having or completely answers my question. Cons There is nothing I dislike about it, so it's difficult to answer this question. Here's a very minor issue: sometimes the amounts in payroll differ by a cent or two from my reckoning -- it's clearly a rounding issue, and I easily work around it, so it is of no consequence to me. Pros Customer Support is so easy, you speak to a live human being. Onboarding was seamless with much assistance over the phone and through email communication. Cons I would like to set up my Contractors on Autopay. A new function that they are working on. I'd like to combine reports and export. I wish I could pay my invoice with Papal or E check instead of a credit card. March 4, 2026 5.0 We have been using Patriot Payroll for three years now and it takes me 15 minutes from start to finish each pay period. I have recommended Patriot to three other people, and each one has called me to thank me. Pros It is super simple to use, we even combined it with the 401K and Patriot takes care of everything. I no longer have to spend hours each quarter filling out federal and state forms. Well worth the money spent. Cons Once we encountered a bug with the pay stub print out for bonus pay, but a quick chat with Patriot support and the next time the issue had been resolved.
