Pros The best part of Patriot Software is the ease of use and the actual real person support. Never a long wait to talk to someone. Always very knowledgeable American staff that has always been quick to resolve an issue for me to explain how the payroll works. Highly recommended. Pros The software is straight forward and easy to use. Everything you want it to do is there. Can do lots of different things through one web page. Cons With the full service option there is some aspects that make it difficult to use. Because they are taking responsibility for the taxes they are as strict as possible with what you are able to do. April 11, 2023 5.0 Whenever I have had an issue the help department has been very helpful to work with. Pros I love the ease of the program to use. We have a small office, and we are all very busy. So, it is so nice to sit down and complete the payroll, if I do get interrupted, I can easily pick up where I left off. Cons What I like least about the program is finding reports. They are able to access their documents anytime as well. Thank you Patriot Software! Pros I enjoy the convenience of processing my company’s payroll with ease. Simply entering in the number I know like their total hours and commission. Hours can be split between Regular, Overtime, Sick time, Holiday, Vacation and even COVID Cons I didn’t like the time it took to setup the software but since it is online, I believe they are making sure there isn’t any fraudulent person setting up your account. It’s simple enough for clients that aren’t very tech-savvy to use once the setup is complete. The only other drawback was long wait times to speak with a representative even before the pandemic. Pros It has given me the flexibility I needed in offering my clients payroll services. My clients can sign in to their own account to enter employee time and make changes, Exactly what I wanted. Cons The software lacks the ability to print a payroll journal that contains the payroll for a specific period with the period and year to date totals that is not on separate sheets for each employee. Pros Onboarding was painless and I was able to run a payroll within a few days. I've used Patriot Full-Service to help me scale my CPA practice. Customer service is always fast and responsive. I especially appreciate the fact I don't play phone tag with multiple departments. Can't say the same for Intuit. Cons The biggest complaint I have is the 4 banking day lead on direct deposits. If Monday is a Holiday and my client doesn't have the info ready, DD is usually pushed to Monday instead of Friday. We've had to write paper checks to compensate for this occurrence. I've recommended them Pros I find the system easy to use and most importantly, Patriot's customer service is amazing. I've never waited on hold for more than 10 minutes and always end up speaking to a friendly and knowledgeable person who can help me through any issues. I've used many payroll systems throughout the years and I find that good customer service can overcome most small feature deficiencies. They also allow more than one administrator, which some small systems do not. That's handy if you have more than one person running payroll. Cons I'd like more options on time off accruals (like being able to accrue per pay period and not per hour for salaried employees). Review Source DL Diane L. Pros Clean navigation, easy setup. Phone app for portable access. Quarterly reporting and annual payroll reporting handled for me. All went well first time out of the gate. Cons Printing reports ... would like to see a more compacted printout to save paper. Reason for choosing Patriot Software Priced two other online payroll competitors, and the cost-per-employee each month was lowest with Patriot. The larger payroll services seem to price their product for small businesses of 10 or more employees. The user interface for both the employee and employee are simple and user friendly. Cons I haven't found anything that I am not happy with. Pros It makes keeping track of payroll and processing weekly time sheets very easy. It has lots of options to customize it for your business. Cons It was kind of hard to learn. Makes taxes and payroll A LOT easier--especially important if you are a small business and don't have a dedicated HR/Accounts person. Pros An easy-to-use product, especially if you are a small business. Took a lot of the headache out of payroll and the critical paperwork that comes with it. We LOVE that you can pay contractors in a payroll run (or separately) and Patriot will automatically generate appropriate 1099s at the end of the year. Cons Sometimes is takes a little searching to find the information you need. It is hard, for example, to look for data within a specific data range; you have to generate an entire report from a certain date. Also, setup took a little work, but nothing outside of the norm for any payroll company. Review Source DL Dina L. I have had the pleasure of speaking to about twenty different employees over the years, and it doesn’t matter who you get; they all provide the best customer service. They are knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and kind! They are very well-trained. They would be a good example for the rest of our world to follow. Cons There was really nothing I didn’t like about it. Patriot has proven to be one of the best overall decisions I have made. It answers all of our payroll needs with ease. The system is user friendly for me as the administrator and for our employees as well. If there are ever any questions, the customer service team is always there to help. They are patient and extremely knowledgeable. I couldn't ask for more in a payroll service. Oh! And the cost! You cannot beat it's affordability. It is wonderful to be able to check off a vital segment of our business operation, and know that we never have to worry about payroll issues. An absolutely fantastic product. I stopped using them but they never failed to keep sucking money out of my account. I now have to fix everything they have done and close that account down. Also when I did have a problem and got someone to talk to me. This was in the beginning. They had to go to their supervisor who's solution to the problem was to give me the phone number for the IRS. Bunch of kids who don't know what they are doing. Pros It will take your info and produce reports that are useful. Cons I did my own payroll for myself and others at a previous job where I was also the boss. The first thing patriot did was hit my bank account for the 940 Fed unemployment tax that you pay as people make money through the year. When They get to a certain amount ( used to be $7,000.) then you stop. Well they took it all first thing. Then I find out from my accountant and tax person that I'm not even suppose to pay it. Patriot's customer service is super, there's always someone available to help and walk-thru the setup process for free. The customer service is very responsive. The rep is friendly and patience. Cons Patriot does not integrate with others 401k providers, it has only one option to choose from is Vestwell. Pros Patriot is easy to use, client friendly and has excellent customer support! I highly recommend it! Cons The hardest part was the mapping of the import to Quickbooks Online general ledger and making sure it balances out.
