I'm not super happy with the software itself, it is finicky and if you want to make alterations mid-payroll, you have to cancel the payroll entirely. Overall, however, it is the best bang for your buck for a small business owner. My parents (age: 60s) are small business owners and not well versed in computer programs. I have helped them set up an account and trouble shoot with your customer service until we all are understanding of the whole process. Your customer service is top of the line - I am very impressed with it, I thank you for whatever training you give to that position. My questions are always answered and usually I start frustrated and end feeling informed and knowledgeable. We are only 2 payrolls into your software but are excited for the freed-up time to do other things. Pros The software is easy to maneuver. The pages are laid out well. It is very user friendly. My parents are not well versed on navigating anything computer and this software is easy to understand. The customer service is the BEST I have ever communicated with. They are patient and informative, they know the program and are not reading or responding with auto. I have communicated with customer service multiple times through online chat and over the phone. The bar is set high for all other customer service. Cons I think the software itself is great. I am teaching my parents how to use the software and that has been slow moving- but not any fault of Patriot. Cons I wish there was a portal for Contractors to be able to print their paystubs and 1099s like there is for employees. The switch couldn't have been easier or smoother!! The customer support team is AMAZING and so easy and helpful to work with. We are extremely pleased that we made the switch. Pros I love how easy it is to manage my data myself without having the "support team" have to make different changes. I love the ease and quickness of the quarterly reports. I love the 2 day direct deposit turn around. Cons There are a couple of reports that I had been used to getting from an other software company. Pros First the value for the money. What you get when you pay for patriot payroll just leaves other payroll providers in the dust. ADP once approached me about becoming a payroll provider and the sales rep was shocked when I showed what I paying at Patriot Payroll. Additionally, the way in which they are able to handle all of the payroll is amazing. Also, it is integrative with Quickbooks which to me as an accountant is crucial. Cons The biggest thing is definitely the length that it takes for direct deposit to process. Starting out they want four business days. July 6, 2016 5.0 Took me awhile to navigate everything, mostly because we've never employed anyone before. I needed help to get started and great customer service to get me through the process since I was unfamiliar with all that was needed. They took me from New Hire to setting up the payroll. You can print checks or write them out yourself. It's been pretty smooth. Competitively priced. Pros It was pretty easy once I got all the forms from the employees and numbers I needed from the state and bank. PS is right their to help you. They don't send a bazillion e-mails but a check up once in awhile. I have only been using it for about a month but so far so good. I did have the advantage of a friend's experiences with other payroll software...she's been through 3 or 4 so far. So I didn't give those a try at all. They will run my 1099's and W-2's at the end of the year for me. We do need to request some services as they don't necessarily do them automatically. I've had great customer service and they patiently walk me through everything when I need it. Cons Sometimes it's hard to know where the online info is that I need. The "check stub" gives the employee fees as well as the the employer contributions so I cut it in half. But that may be due to the fact that I write the checks instead of printing off a business payroll check. I would like them to have an option just for commission. You have to put in some hourly thing (I put $1) and then you can put in commission later in the program. So it works, it's kind of like they worked for you for an hour and you paid them $500. Expensive looking hour. Everything is online ( I am a paper in hand person...) so some times I am not sure where to find what I am looking for. However, a walk-through is just a phone call away (a Pro). It has everything we needed to get started with Payroll starting with employee 1 without costing an arm and a leg. Wish there was an easier / faster way to get the first funds into the account for anyone needing to get onboarded quickly, but that isn't everyone. I definitely do promote it and have done so to my bookeeping company, in case their other customers are inquiring. Pros The ease of doing the payroll is great. Printing off the reports is perfect. Cons I wish that we could process the payroll closer to the date of pay. The four full business days before is sometimes a drag. I can't always figure out some of the programs and have to contact Patriot directly. But when I do, it is usually very productive and helpful. Some features are very easy to work with while others seem to be more difficult, like keeping a running balance for the checking account where it is easy to see. Pros I really like the ease of the accounts reconciliation feature and the invoicing feature as well. Invoicing helps me to be sure I know whom I have collected from and what I am still owed. Cons I do not like that when using the withdrawal/deposit feature that there is no way to tell what my bank balance is without going to reports. Very inconvenient. I was nervous about changing over from our previous payroll provider mid-year, but Patriot Payroll made it simple to enter historical data. I especially like that there is actual telephone customer support. The pricing for full-service payroll for our size organization (7 employees) is less than half the price that our old provider charged for the same service. Thank you, Patriot Payroll, for providing an excellent product at an affordable price. Pros Tied for first: I like that I don’t have to worry about payroll-tax deposits and filings. Also, it is is invaluable that I can call customer service when I have a question—our last provider required paid customer support! Cons Importing payroll info into Quickbooks desktop has some limitations for our specific needs—I wish it could be customized a little further. Turning this over to Patriot was the best thing I ever did, and saved me over half what I was paying Intuit with far better service. Pros Everything about Patriot is a first class experience, except the price. :-) Unlike Intuit, which charges way too much to tiny businesses, Patriot sees the value in working with tiny businesses (hint: microbusinesses often GROW into bigger businesses, and even if they don't, they love referring people to good companies like Patriot!). With Patriot's full-service payroll, I always know that my payroll tax issues are handled behind the scenes perfectly so I can focus on building my business. In addition, when I have a question or special circumstance, their knowledgeable, friendly customer service folks knew exactly how to solve it. I have even recommended to my accountant that they change all of their small business clients over from Intuit! To not do so is to advise their clients to waste money. Cons Literally no cons. Everything was great during my two years with Patriot. Reason for choosing Patriot Software Price + the promised services looked the same. My accountant warned me that many cheaper services (than Intuit) can't be relied on to file on time or make mistakes. She was dead wrong in this case. Thrilled with Patriot.
