Pros Patriot is simple to use and to set up. I type in the hours an employee worked, press next, review all is correct & confirm. You can set it up to print checks, it’ll print pay stubs. Patriot pays your Quarterly taxes and files all your State tax forms. I don’t worry about ANYTHING when I write a check on Patriot. All the correct taxes, SS, Medicare, etc. are taken from the check AND my quarterlys are taken care of. ALL of this for a small monthly fee. Cons There is nothing I do not like about Patriot. Reason for choosing Patriot Software We decided to try it out. The \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\]?, called me several times. I had no idea it was the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] until months later. I rag to the other partners how easy it is to run payroll every time. LOVE IT!!!!!!! Pros I have not had to call support to help facilitate payroll. With my previous service, I had to call every pay period to ask for assistance as their software was NOT user friendly. Cons The only issue I had was that I had to manually onboard because they do not onboard from ADP. Pros This software is great for all types of accounting and some types of payroll system. Import between customer and vendor is quite up to date. I can print out payroll reports and documents for my accountant with ease. Pros It is every easy to use and it is priced reasonably. I used Quicken/Quick Payroll for close to 30 years and I got tired of the constant increases in your monthly subscription amount. Once a venture capital fund took a serious stake in Quick Payroll, you knew things were going to bad. My other favorite of Patriot Payroll is that customer service is based here in the US and you are not dealing with someone sitting in a call center that you can hardly understand much less get them to understand your issue or problem. Switching to Patriot Payroll just for this feature made the change completely worthwhile. Cons Other than having some issues when I print out a payroll check with the location of information on the check, there is nothing to not like about this software. Review Source MV Matthew V. January 8, 2020 5.0 Patriot Software's customer service team has been friendly and helpful every time I have reached out. All of my questions have been answered quickly so I could get back to work. Pros I love Patriot Software Payroll's incredible ease of use. I used it for a year, then switched to Quickbooks Payroll because I thought it would be easier because we use QBO. I was wrong. Quickbooks Payroll was much harder to use. The primary reason is that you still have to do a great deal when using QBO Payroll. With Patriot Software, once it is set up, the do so much more FOR you as part of the service. This gives me peace of mind, because I don't worry about making a mistake or overlooking one of the many filings. Cons For Patriot Software's Payroll software, I have experienced no downsides. Reason for choosing Patriot Software I stayed with QBO for accounting because Patriot Software Accounting lacks the ability to enter a split transaction. If they raise the rates and don't address the issues I have we will most likely love rona different provider. Pros I like the price of this software the best. Basically all payroll services provide a similar program. Cost and ease of use are the main things that can differentiate. Cons I don't like that direct deposits need to be processed 4 days early. So for a Friday payroll everything had to be in my Monday (assuming no bank holidays). There is a way to pay a wire fee and process payroll closer to the playdate. The other thing I don't like is that if you find an error like a changed payrate while you have started entering a payroll you have to lose what you've done and go back to the Employee screen to update that rate. I never felt rushed and feel confident that I understand the process and that Patriot is ready to help if needed. Cons Nothing so far. The set up with the wizard was awesome. Reason for choosing Patriot Software I'm not sure I found them online and read reviews that customers had good experiences with them. Patriot Payroll takes the headache out of doing payroll and filing taxes. Just a couple of clicks a week and payroll is done! Cons I did receive a notice from the IRS regarding unpaid taxes, however I eventually received correspondence that everything was up-to-date and no penalties were incurred. It's a simple accounting platform perfect for small businesses with low needs and needing a low budget solution. If they could simplify the double-entry process, or do some of that work automatically, it would be a great option for small business owners. Pros Patriot's website was well designed and easy to navigate. It has a stylized but modern look, which I enjoyed. Menus and actions were easy to find, and the price was great. For my small service business I just needed invoices and transaction tracking, and Patriot provides those at a low price, with upgrades if needed. Cons Since I'm not an accountant, I don't understand double-entry accounting. When it came time to enter transactions, I got lost in the journal and debit/credit entries. I was really excited to use Patriot instead of the spendy Quickbooks, but the double-entry accounting method was a giant roadblock for me that I couldn't get around. Debits and credits can be confusing. Did you know that we have an "easy" toggle so instead of using debits and credits, you can decrease and increase the amounts for each account. I organized my real estate business as an S-Corp a couple years ago, and therefore had to begin to pay myself as an employee. I have one other employee. Once I had the software set up, running payroll and reports is pretty seamless and easy to understand. I will periodically call or use an on-line chat to ask a question. My experience with support has been good. Pros Inexpensive and simple. Once I got it set up it was very straightforward. Cons It was harder to set up than I anticipated. I had very little experience handling payroll and taxes. It opened my eyes to how complex and confusing payroll taxes can be. I don't think the software was what made it challenging, it was the myriad tax rates and numbers with state and local agencies that I needed to assemble. April 2, 2018 5.0 Full service payroll at an economical and predictable price, that does everything that I need it to. Pros This company provides full service payroll at a bargain price, significantly below their competitors. I have been using them since 1/2017, and have been very happy. Set up is easy, and customer service will walk you through setting up the tax accounts if you need them to. They pay all my taxes for me on time, and submit relevant quarterly and year-end reports to tax authorities. Interface is easy to use and intuitive. Once employees are set up in payroll, I can run my salaried payroll from anywhere, in about 3 clicks. They have a variety of reports to help keep track of taxes and accounting, free direct deposit for employees, and an available employee portal. Before I chose Patriot, I got quote from two other companies, all of which had higher prices and/or set up fees. I haven't compromised one thing to get my payroll through Patriot, at their very economical price. Cons There is really nothing I don't like. Set up of direct deposit through Natpay (a company that Patriot uses to handle this service) wasn't particularly friendly, but it was once and done. If you want direct deposit without any additional fees, Natpay needs at least three business days lead time, and if you don't make that, payroll gets pushed back a day, but, really, that's all about planning. They take your payroll out well in advance of pay date, so you have to have it in the account, but that may be all payroll companies for all I know. Review Source KE Kimberly E. Every once in a while a screw up a paycheck and they are always there to help me identify the issue and resolve, always in a timely manner. Pros The payroll is easy to set up and you can call and get support. I have never had a bad experience with support at Patriot. The software calculates your payroll liablilities, which is awesome, because I am NOT an accountant. I require ease of use and simple explanation. Cons I use the basic features for payroll and tax liabilities, I don't do anything over my head. Generates a lot of documents without me needing to get involved. I like my payroll contact -- he's an independent who helps me with payroll and Patriot. Cons I used to get reminders about upcoming bank holidays, so that I wouldn't miss payroll. Columbus day was mid-week. I forgot it was a national holiday b/c it was not on a Monday, and as a result missed payroll by a day. Never a good thing. I would have liked a reminder from Patriot. Also, it would be nice to get an email from Patriot at say 2pm or 3pm saying "Hey, you haven't finished your payroll for this week and you're about to run out of time." Patriot Software was easy to set up and use. The customer service department was right there when I needed them or had a question, whether it was a simple one or difficult question, they always treated me with respect and answered all my questions. And the fact that they give you a free trial to test them out was the best also. I will continue using them as long as we are in business. I would recommend them highly to anyone who owns a business. The set up was easy and posting payroll went smoothly. I needed to call customer service on an issue and they took care of my problem immediately. I just makes everything go so much smoother. I don't have to figure any tax issues either. So I would say, I really like everything about the software, but it's ease of use is the best. Cons there isn't anything about Patriot Software that I was dissatisfied with.
