The customer service is extremely responsive, and they really go above and beyond to make sure their clients are satisfied. Pros I like the fact that I know nothing about what's going on behind the scenes in terms of quarterly tax payments. The people at patriot take care of everything, and I have yet to experience any type of error in my taxes while they've handled them. Cons There are no aspects of the software that need improvement —that I can think of. Running payroll is as easy as filling in a web form. Set up of their payroll system within the QuickBooks software is complicated, tedious, and not intuitive at all. I enter my hours cut the checks and that's it. you tell me how much to put in the tax account and I can focus on the rest of my responsibilities. Did my own P/R for many years and as the code becomes more complex it feels great to say-- you guys take care of it-- and you do! Cons I found all aspects of installation and use to be very user friendly. Being 68 years old and having to use a program such as this makes my payroll and reporting easy to do. Pros The software is very easy to use and reliable. Cons The direct deposit is the only con to the software. I deal with small businesses and cash flow timing is critical. the existing issues for direct deposit are not very helpful. Hence, most choose the option of doing manual payroll. It helps when you can see a break down! Cons There were times when a change was needed to be made during payroll processing, and prior to approval, if you needed to go back and change it, you had to delete the hours out, and update what needed changing, and then re-enter hours back in. Cons It would be nice to flip back and forth from where payroll is added to employee info. screen without having to back out from one to the other. Would be nice to have button to press without having to escape from one to get to the other. May 8, 2020 5.0 Easy to use, I can login from anywhere to check on payroll and our office manager was able to get the hang of the software within a week of using it. Pros The price and different levels of services in the product are nice. I use the reports weekly to track where we are payroll & payroll tax wise. Even though I file my payroll taxes myself Patriot makes it easy for me to do. Cons Wish the direct deposit option was better. We pay weekly so we can’t use that option as fast as I can tell. January 7, 2021 5.0 I am very pleased with Patriot Payroll. As a payroll service provider for several small businesses, it has saved me time and money. Pros I love that the full-service Patriot Payroll is cheaper than even the basic version of QB. I manage payroll for several companies, so not having to file the quarterly reports and manually make the monthly/quarterly payments saves me a lot of time. Plus it saves me a lot of money! Cons It would be nice if the summary page that you see right before you approve payroll was also accessible after approving payroll. That's the page I save and send to the client if they are writing their own paychecks. If I forget to save it before approving payroll, I would have to void all the checks and start over. It would also be helpful if prior payroll history was editable without having to contact customer service. Review Source WT Wendy T. It usually takes about 20 hours but that includes times spent making payroll entries in the accounting software. I use the full-service option so payroll tax deposits and reporting are handled (mostly) flawlessly. Pros This software handles virtually any small biz payroll need. The support is usually superb, and the price can't be beat. Cons Patriot calls most benefit payments a 'money type.' Right now, most money types have to be manually entered every payday for every employee. I prep payroll for a bunch of churches and have to enter clergy housing allowance manually for every affected employee. A bit of a hassle...but Patriot tells me they're working on recurring money types (alas, they've been telling me that for three years!). Even with that, it's still a great deal. We were hoping to get better services and better software over what we were using and we did not. We only used Patriot for 1 quarter and removed clients and put them on a different software that we are still using that has everything that we need. Patriot did fit for any of our clients. Pros Great price for a very basic payroll software. Cons I had to enter the pay period each time I ran payroll. Did not support multi state payroll. No job costing. Took way to long for Quarterly reports to be available. Direct deposit timeline does not work for our clients. I appreciate the direct deposit feature and employee portal so that employees can access their information. Pros I appreciate the ability to complete payroll within minutes. With the full service payroll option I do not need to worry about anything after that! All the tax reports and payroll taxes are paid in a timely fashion. It has been such a relief to have these tasks completed at a reasonable price! Cons I have had some difficulty getting all the tax information into the settings, but the FAQ and customer service has been helpful in getting this completed. My monthly payroll amount is in the system so all I have to do is put in the current pay period dates and submit. My pay stub is instantly available to be printed and they take care of collecting the payroll taxes and the reporting of the payroll taxes. Cons There isn't anything that I dislike about Patriot. Pros I moved because I was doing 1 paycheck and being charged $99 per month by my previous payroll company. It was completely ridiculous. Patriot was very reasonable Cons Maybe not the easiest system to navigate, but I think they are always trying to improve it. I basically do paychecks and use the payroll tax reports.
