Where Patriot shines in my opinion is the customer service. Every single time I've called (and there have been plenty!) my call is answered within a minute or two and then my question/issued is resolved moments later. Just exceptional. Cons I am not a big fan of using the search feature to find self help articles. I honestly have better luck finding the steps I need by doing a google search, which will bring up the steps. Pros Pricing is good, tax filings are accurate and timely. We like the timecard app and how supervisors can approve timecards for processing. Cons Reports are cumbersome, processing time of 4 days is too long unless you pay extra. Highly Recommend" April 17, 2025 5.0 I love it. It has saved me time and money and is easy to use. I use it to process payroll. file quarterly taxes, W-2's and 1099's. My employees love the portal so they can see what they are getting paid and get their tax documents immediatley after they are posted at the end of the year. Pros I love this payroll system. It saves me time and money. Customer service chat is very helpful with ansering my questions. I just sent a referral to another flooring company to use for their business. Cons When I have a change with an employee, I have to completly re due payroll. I would like if if I could add or change employees during processing payroll. They've made it easy for me to do payroll when I've never had to do it myself before. Pros Two thing, first, I've never run payroll before and yet I found it relatively easy to do it using Patriot. Their customer service people were also available and eager to help. Second, they collect all the taxes for me, from local to federal, which was a big draw for me. Cons I'd like to see the software offer auto payroll, which I've read may be coming later this year. I'd also like to be able to dynamically amend/revise payroll runs without voiding the whole thing to make a correction. Win, win, win! Pros Having switched from another payroll provider, Patriot exceeded my expectations. It is so much easier to navigate and the payroll submission process is far better and far faster than what I'd used before. Cons Switching to Patriot was a bit unnerving. The tax information wasn't something I was familiar with, so gathering that from our prior payroll supplier as well as the staff gave me some stress. Patriot was quick to answer my questions though, and we got through it. From the start, On-boarding, I was impressed with their knowledge, patience, and the fact that I hardly ever have to wait more than a minute for them to come on the line. Pros The ease of On-boarding with Customer Service and how fast they can answer my question and the easy use of the software itself Cons I'd like to use it for paying my Subcontractors but it would've been costly to do so at the time when I looked into it. Cons Some of the setup steps related to linking my bank account and entering my state tax IDs weren't as clear as they could have been. But it wasn't a huge deal because I was always able to get someone knowledgable on the phone instantly. If I needed help they would answer clearly. Pros The customer service is great every time I talked to them. They would always answer my questions with clarity. Cons A few times I did not know the correct way to do something and there was not clear directions in what I needed to do. My example is that I didn't know that I need to file federal taxes twice a month but I didn't even know that was a thing. I got a letter from the IRS for doing it wrong. It logs PTO and time-off accruel in an easy to see format, and makes the whole process of adding hours for my staff of 45 saves me hours of work. Pros I like how it updates guidelines and alerts based on changes in State legislature for benefits/time-off that way I do not have to go implement the changes myself. Cons The layer upon layer upon layer of security features makes it cumbersome for making changes to an employees profile/account information. Some aspects cannot be changed by the administrator and only by the employee (ie banking information). " February 9, 2026 5.0 I'm a non-profit and I'm the only employee with "clergy" status. I've used Quickbooks for 12 years and though it got me through the last few years I've never been able to speak with someone who really understood "clergy housing" and how that works. I spent hours trying to solve some issues with very little luck. So far, Patriot seems to really understand "clergy" status and has the right set up to set it up. So much easier and the software is way more intuitive with way more help along the way. Pros Customer support is awesome. I've called or chatted numerous times and everyone was helpful and had a good working knowledge of what I was asking about. Cons Just getting started I didn't understand or have communication about dates regarding deadlines for my first payroll. The first one didn't happen though the payroll info was usable for tax purposes and records.
