Member Sports Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Great product for the price" February 2, 2021 4.0 I like the product and will continue to use in the future. Pros Once the payroll is setup the basic payroll is easy to use. I have a bi-weekly payroll and can get the information entered, reviewed, and checks printed in 20 minutes. Setup of new employees is straight forward and easy after getting used to the program. Payroll registers, monthly and quarterly payroll reports are easy to print and gives exactly the information that is needed. I also purchased the 4-part W-2 form from their vendor and the end result looked professional. Cons The initial setup of the product was not easy. I set my employees up in departments and this took two calls to customer support to get right. I purchased the basic payroll service and had issues with the printing of W-2 copies for my local tax department. I had to manipulate the printing to get the forms I needed. Patriot provided the best value for the number of users that our organization required. If does not include fund raising and tracking of gifts, which are not a requirement for our organization. Pros Easy to setup. When I had accounting questions the customer support was friendly and answered my questions. Cons Timing of credit card payments marked as paid in Patriot but funds not received for several days from Stripe. It is also easy to add employees. Cons It was hard at first to find certain information, but once I got used to the program, it became very easy. Bookkeeper E-Learning Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Best payroll software" January 7, 2021 5.0 Pros It's one of the few payroll processing companies that allows the client to use the software to calculate, track and pay their own taxes without the funds being pulled along with payroll...especially useful for a non profit that at times can have a tight cash flow. Cons Direct Deposit could be improved to being able to submit the information for direct deposit within a few days of the actual pay date rather than having a 5 day lead time for submitting information. CPA Accounting Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "CPA who likes this solution" July 27, 2021 5.0 I'm a small CPA firm and I knew that I don't have the staff to have someone ready ALL the time to run payroll so I started looking for a solution for clients. This company came to my hands and after I looked through it and setup my first client I was hocked. The price option for clients also was a great sell. What client doesn't want to save money? Pros The first thing that you notice is the price, a great deal. Then you start wading in to see what exactly do you get for it and it turns out to be a lot. You have a tremendous amount of customizable options. The people are great and will take the time to explain anything that needs it. Highly recommend. Cons The setup progression is understandable but I would prefer an option that gives you an overview of everything and lets you set it up as the data comes to your hand in place of as the system prompts you. In theory it does have some option like this but it's more a prompt based system and in the run it is only a minor thing. I can print pay checks and have paystub with them on my own computer. Pros The ease of use of this software is outstanding. With previous company's I had to have help setting it up and had to call to get help with questions about how to do basic tasks. With Patriot, I could set it up and find anything I needed on my own. Cons I am happy with the software as it is. Even my accountant is happy with the way it works. Reason for choosing Patriot Software We had used quickbooks payroll previously and had an issue which cost us money and left our employees owing taxes at the end of the year. January 13, 2021 5.0 Pros Patriot payroll makes it easy to run my small business. My employees complete the time card, I review, I submit to payroll and I am done. About 5 minutes to get the job done. Easy! Cons There was some initial confusion with the setup for my state taxes and the wrong number was submitted with the payment. After clearing that up, everything is working fine. The mistake was caused by incorrect terminology used in the Patriot software instructions - a general term was used instead of the specific one my state uses and I didn't know the difference. When I pointed that out to customer service, the excuse/reason given was weak, and I didn't have confidence that it would be fixed for others. Review Source JG Jamie G. When I cannot remember how to do a task, either the online help is quite good and every time I have spoken to someone on the phone, the experience has been excellent and has always resolved the matter at hand. Pros We use the software for a bi-monthly payroll for three employees. It is very easy to use for this purpose once I had run several payrolls. The reporting is simple as well. Loved it! Pros I love that Patriot calculated payroll and took care of reporting to the state for me. I didn't have the care to figure out the learning curve of what is all required from the state. When I reached out to customer service, even if it wasn't something that Patriot managed, I'd get help and answers on what to do. Thank you! W-2s are ready for employees quickly. Price is right, software works well and saves me time. What more can I ask for? Pros Easy to set up. No prior knowledge of payroll processing was necessary. Easy to use. Plenty of options for processing payroll. W2-s ready immediately after year end. Saves all the reports in case you need to look back and can't find the original Cons Nothing. I just feel there are some easy solutions to the issues stated above. Pros The software is fairly simple to use regarding payroll Cons \-Inability to make changes to individual employees while in the middle of payroll. -The specific rules for using prefunded amounts - can't use over a certain number of days, doesn't allow you to take prefunded amounts first then take from banking accounts. -End of year information - the only option is for updating Owner paid health insurance. There should be other options to add such as auto use, life insurance, etc... I also feel there needs to be more detailed instruction on updating this information. I had put in a figure and found out I needed to update it. Well it did not tell me to just add the additional amount so I put in the total updated figure. Had to call to deal with this issue. -I strongly feel there should be a help chat window on the admin/user site to get needed help. Trying to find this help is probably the biggest problem. I had several questions during the set up process and customer service helped me every step of the way. The representatives were not only knowledgeable but nice and easygoing. They made me feel at ease with not knowing the ins and outs of payroll and helped me set up my company in an excellent way. Pros Patriot Payroll is very easy to use. It takes a minimum amount of my time to run payroll and once is set up, it takes me only a few minutes to process my employees’ paychecks. Pros It takes the burden of the multi-level reporting and tax calculating off the table. Once set up, and they will help you get it set up properly, all you have to do is put in the hour / weeks and approve the payrolls. Cons Getting direct deposit set up was not the easiest. It sent through a third party, which I think was brought in house by patriot by now. Reason for choosing Patriot Software Pricing and a better customer friendly experience.
