I can print pay checks and have paystub with them on my own computer. Pros The ease of use of this software is outstanding. With previous company's I had to have help setting it up and had to call to get help with questions about how to do basic tasks. With Patriot, I could set it up and find anything I needed on my own. Cons I am happy with the software as it is. Even my accountant is happy with the way it works. Reason for choosing Patriot Software We had used quickbooks payroll previously and had an issue which cost us money and left our employees owing taxes at the end of the year. January 13, 2021 5.0 Pros Patriot payroll makes it easy to run my small business. My employees complete the time card, I review, I submit to payroll and I am done. About 5 minutes to get the job done. Easy! Cons There was some initial confusion with the setup for my state taxes and the wrong number was submitted with the payment. After clearing that up, everything is working fine. The mistake was caused by incorrect terminology used in the instructions - a general term was used instead of the specific one my state uses and I didn't know the difference. When I pointed that out to customer service, the excuse/reason given was weak, and I didn't have confidence that it would be fixed for others. Review Source JG Jamie G. When I cannot remember how to do a task, either the online help is quite good and every time I have spoken to someone on the phone, the experience has been excellent and has always resolved the matter at hand. Pros We use the software for a bi-monthly payroll for three employees. It is very easy to use for this purpose once I had run several payrolls. The reporting is simple as well. I figured it out because of my experience with accounting and taxes. Pros Very economical. After setup, it was very easy to use. I was able to get ride of Intuit's Annual and monthly fees. Loved it! Pros I love that Patriot calculated payroll and took care of reporting to the state for me. I didn't have the care to figure out the learning curve of what is all required from the state. When I reached out to customer service, even if it wasn't something that Patriot managed, I'd get help and answers on what to do. Thank you! W-2s are ready for employees quickly. Price is right, software works well and saves me time. What more can I ask for? Pros Easy to set up. No prior knowledge of payroll processing was necessary. Easy to use. Plenty of options for processing payroll. W2-s ready immediately after year end. Saves all the reports in case you need to look back and can't find the original Cons Nothing. I just feel there are some easy solutions to the issues stated above. Pros The software is fairly simple to use regarding payroll Cons \-Inability to make changes to individual employees while in the middle of payroll. -The specific rules for using prefunded amounts - can't use over a certain number of days, doesn't allow you to take prefunded amounts first then take from banking accounts. -End of year information - the only option is for updating Owner paid health insurance. There should be other options to add such as auto use, life insurance, etc... I also feel there needs to be more detailed instruction on updating this information. I had put in a figure and found out I needed to update it. Well it did not tell me to just add the additional amount so I put in the total updated figure. Had to call to deal with this issue. -I strongly feel there should be a help chat window on the admin/user site to get needed help. Trying to find this help is probably the biggest problem. I had several questions during the set up process and customer service helped me every step of the way. The representatives were not only knowledgeable but nice and easygoing. They made me feel at ease with not knowing the ins and outs of payroll and helped me set up my company in an excellent way. Pros Patriot Payroll is very easy to use. It takes a minimum amount of my time to run payroll and once is set up, it takes me only a few minutes to process my employees’ paychecks. Cons I have not found any cons while using the product thus far. Pros It takes the burden of the multi-level reporting and tax calculating off the table. Once set up, and they will help you get it set up properly, all you have to do is put in the hour / weeks and approve the payrolls. Cons Getting direct deposit set up was not the easiest. It sent through a third party, which I think was brought in house by patriot by now. Reason for choosing Patriot Software Pricing and a better customer friendly experience. Even with the more complicated processes of paying self-employed personnel, the software makes it simple to ensure that employees are being paid, withholding and taxes are being filed, and reports are just a few clicks away. Very prompt and responsive customer support. Any issues are dealt with promptly. Cons It could have some limitations for specific unique taxability issues for states / local. Has some limitations on manual adjustments of taxable wages, etc. However, it seems they are continuously improving, for example recently adding S-corp shareholder employee health insurance premiums as an option for the W-2. The product has exceeded my expectations and the customer service is awesomel! Pros The dashboard was easy to navigate and all the payroll task are located on page. Cons The software does not include an option to report contribute to a Roth Solo 401 (k). It would be helpful if there was a way to enter the information manually or directly on the W2.Many of the customer representatives were unfamiliar with this kind of retirement plan for small business owners with no employees. I don't miss filing deadlines and it's convenient. Pros The software is easy to use and convenient. It files all of the necessary documents and automatically makes the required payments. Cons It does not do 943 employees. This is frustrating as at the end of the year, I literally have to transfer all of the information over and file a revision :(. Reason for choosing Patriot Software I am currently looking at a company that will file for agricultural employees. The time involved in doing the revisions is considerable. Patriot is very affordable and has all of the reports available for me at tax time. Pros Easy to use! If I have questions, I send a message and within minutes I have an answer. I don't have to worry about all the filings that go along with doing payroll, Patriot takes care of it for me. Cons I've been using it for almost 3 years and I have no complaints!
