Pros Reasonable price, intuitive portal and highly proficient in all taxes - fed, state and local! Cons Altering payroll deductions triggered the rare occasion for me to call customer service. I usually get a quick response, no long wait on the phone for someone. Pros Easy to use. Efficient software that costs less than some of the others. The layout of the screens is easy to navigate. I moved my entire payroll business over at the beginning of the year. It was a lot of work, but now that it's done, the process is seamless. I would work with their Customer Service team any day of the week. They're the best I've worked with in any industry, honestly. Pros Their customer service. Hands down the best I've worked with anywhere. They genuinely listen to my concerns and ask questions that tell me they want to provide what I need. And I like that they're always looking for input to make an even better product. Cons Switching from QB Desktop was a struggle. QB is the gold standard as their product is incredibly easy to use, but their prices are driving people away. So, it wasn't really a Patriot issue, more of my own as I learned a new system. Employee portal for them to be able to login and make updates or print pay stubs. Customer service was very helpful and quick to respond when I had questions during setup. Cons So far we have had no issues. If anything, after research I know it is the best value, but I wish just calculating taxes didn't cost so much per person. Pros Easy set-up, great ongoing customer support for full service payroll services. Timely, courteous & knowledgeable team members. Always willing to assist with any questions, tax updates, etc. Cons Would like to see ad hoc report options for special projects within the company; this would also be helpful for company expense analysis & projections. However, when downloading current report options to Excel, data is still reasonably easy to access and use! Would never go back to other over priced software. Pros The ease of setting up our employees all their information and the ease of setting up our taxes to be taken out as well as having our taxes paid by Patriot. Cons when trying to set up contributions to an employee was a little difficult to understand. We needed to add housing for our pastor and its non taxable so we had to add it in another way. Every time I call in to patriot payroll support they take care of me right away and explain things very thoroughly. Pros Quick Response time when calling in to speak with support about payroll issues or if I have questions regarding payroll Cons The only thing I can think of is the inability to enter prior payroll and the Back up log on patriot support doing payroll amendments. I just thought this was too hard for me to do myself. After switching to Patriot payroll software, it was like a breath of fresh air. The customer service people were WONDERFUL and I felt like this was doable. Now that it is all set up, it is so easy. IF I need help, they are there! Cons The only con that I have about Patriot Payroll is that I didn't find your software first before trying another brand. February 19, 2025 5.0 The move over from Intuit has been smooth and easy. Customer service answered any questions I had quickly and they knew the answer right away, making the change over very easy. Pros The layout of the software makes it easy to use. We transitioned from intuit online payroll and Patriot software is much easier to use. Also, the customer service is quick and friendly when you have any questions. I can run tax reports quick and easy. Cons The only issue I have had was establishing an employee as a commission only that changes on a monthly basis, but I have found a way around it. They were helpful by phone and easy to understand. Pros The payroll program was cost effective for a small business. It was easy to setup and get into the Auto Withdrawal mode which most small businesses would like. Cons I haven't experienced anything yet to like least. Keep doing what you're doing! Was kind of caught off guard thinking that it would be difficult and not what I expected with the cost point. I was wrong. Pros Patriot Payroll is very easy to use and user friendly. I also love the customer service and prompt responses to questions. Cons It would be great if PTO was automatically applied in the payroll period that the approval was set for. I don’t like remembering to manually enter it for the given pay period. Even when I just have a simple question because I am unsure of something, they are always so kind and helpful, never making me feel less because my question may be "dumb". Pros Patriot's customer service is HANDS DOWN the BEST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Every single person I have ever talked to has been helpful and kind! Their software is also super user friendly! Cons I can't really say that I have anything that I dislike. I have run into an issue with one of my client's (based on their service industry), but even with the problem at hand, Patriot has been amazing at coming up with interim solutions while they work on a permanent fix. I dislike the issue, but really can't complain since they are rectifying it! I appreciate the support. I like that my employees can follow an email link to set up their account for automatic deposit and to enter all of their information in themselves. I do get lost in all of the different links and don't know how to tell what to do next or where to find information. But the support team is always very helpful. Pros Once you get everything set up, running payroll is very quick and easy. Also, I am not an accountant, and not everything was intuitive to me, but when I have a question, the support team is always super helpful and very clear. Cons I am not an accountant, but I did not feel like the set up was very intuitive. I wasn't sure where I was in the process, or even when I was done. I got emails later telling me I had not finished with the tax set up because I could not tell when I was going through the process that I was not done yet. On the other hand, I did receive an email informing me that I was not done yet, so I did appreciate that. It's good to know the system has checks in place for people like me. Easy to set up, easy to run. And it was nice to have the first 30 days free to be sure it was a fit and the system did what it needed to. Pros Easy to use as a first time business owner doing payroll. The program guided me through the forms and filing requirements to do it right. Then the process of running payroll is intuitive and straightforward. The transactions flow right through to Patriot Accounting without the need to do anything further. Have utilized customer support twice and have found them knowlegeable enough to quickly answer my questions. Cons Nothing comes to mind. There was an issue with my state unemployment insurance being overpaid by about a dollar, but Patriot was out in front of this and provided a refund transaction. It gives me the reports I need to file with the various government entities that are required. Pros It is easy to use once it is set up the first time. It is more affordable than QuickBooks Payroll. Cons I did not know it would automatically transfer the paychecks to Patriot Accounting. I wanted to do a manual transfer from the bank account. I appreciate the support that I can get through the chat or email options. The helpful explanations in set up are excellent. The reporting functions are robust and quick. There is a learning-curve as you learn your way around, but overall it is an excellent, user-friendly product that saves time every month and at Tax time! Pros Everything you need, nothing you don't Patriot Payroll is easy to use, even for a novice, and takes the guess work out of quarterly tax filings. Cons I have no substantial complaints.
