December 8, 2022

I loved my experience overall with this system. Everything runs perfect and its secured.

Pros

I loved how it smoothly transitioned from my work computer to the virtual destop on the work computer keeping both data separate but corelated.

Cons

Sometimes the system would kick us put and drop the calls but it was not common. It was rare.

### "Every Day Another Challenge"

December 27, 2020

3.0

In short, Citrix cannot please everyone, but the printer issues need to be addressed (you could be the first in the world!) and the internet issues need to be addressed. Our internet speed and signal is as good as it gets in our location, so we know we have the best chance of success there. Please make Citrix more understandable to the people who license its use and pay handsomely to do so. Thank you for making some of the issues transparent and therefore easier to report and fix .

Pros

This software looks good, is simple to use and I understand it. It is also very good at telling you what it is doing, even if it stalls or freezes. It is also easy to reset, which is a good thing as you can manage internet drop outs that may occur that you cannot blame on the operating system. So, in effect, very informative even when it encounters a crisis which is a really good and honest approach. I wish Windows was so honest in its approach.....

Cons

So I should first of all tell you that I use a MacBook Air and run Citrix on this every day. There is an obvious 'culture clash' here I feel. When I use Citrix to open a website that moves or animates in some way, such as www.rolex.com, which it is my job to use, it freezes every time. However, during various investigations with this error it has become apparent that even a still image can cause this. It then requires a total reboot to get rid of the frozen image. This does not happen with Safari when asking for the same image or site to be opened. Annoyingly, there is no error message displayed when this occurs so we never get to understand why. That said, when error messages occur for other reasons, the error message is either 'unknown' or a number that means nothing to the tech company we employ. I'm not trying to contradict my previous comments, this is a comment on the process of using the internet via Citrix to browse websites and not on the day to day running of our retail software which is pretty seamless. I should also talk about the seeming inability to run six printers in the business in a consistent way, these are ticket, receipt and document printers essential any retail showroom. We spend too much time reinstating these devices, but at least we know what to check every morning and how to deal with it as it happens so frequently! I am aware, however, that printers are the bane of every I.T provider on the planet!

### "Citrix VAD review"

September 3, 2020

5.0

Has been a very productive and good learning experience to work with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. I have deployed various versions and editions of the product since XenApp 6+ both in lab/POC as well as in production environments.

Pros

Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops is the leader is user desktop virtualization and desktop as a service (daas) services. It provides the ability for true hybrid architectures when combing on-prem with Citrix Cloud (cloud.com).

Cons

Installation is not supported on the Linux operating system. Would love to see Citrix expand their architecture to Linux as a host operating system for Citrix VAD.

### "Storage, customer service, and protection GALORE!"

December 10, 2025

Anytime I had any issues or needed guidance, I could reach out to support via chat or telephone. Chat made it an even more elevated experience for me. The storage space per person is plenty though the pricing is a bit higher than most but you are paying for an setting it

Pros

The privacy protection is great. Also the on-demand customer service makes for an even greater experience.

Cons

The price is a bit high for an individual. My company used this product so the program was paid for by my organization.

### "CITRIX FOR \[sensitive content hidden\]"

December 1, 2025

OVER GREAT, BUT THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT I WOULD LIKE IMPROVED. I CLEANED UP MY CITRIX DESKTOP THE OTHER DAY, AND THE SYSTEM DID NOT REMEMBER THAT. AND I CANNOT DELETE ONE OF MY SESSSIONS, SO IT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.

Pros

SEEMS TO BE PRETTY EASY TO USE. IT REMEMBERS WHAT YOU DID LAST SESSION WHICH IS GREAT. AND YOU CAN OPEN TWO SESSIONS.

Cons

ITS HARD TO LOGIN, LOTS OF STEPS. WHEN YOU SAVE ITEMS, YOU CANNOT SAVE THEM TO YOU REGULAR DESKTOP. YOU HAVE TO EMAIL THEM TO YOURSELF. YOU CANNOT CLEAN UP YOUR DESKTOP IN THE SESSIONS, IT WON'T REMEMBER IT. YOU CANNOT DELETE A SESSION.

### "Citrix and Virtual Office CS by Thomson Reuters"

November 10, 2022

4.0

Overall, I like using the Citrix Virtual Apps. I work on multiple computers, and Citrix makes it easy to pickup exactly where I left off and continue working.

Pros

I like that I can use the software remotely without using Remote Desktop. The connection is more stable, so lighting speed internet isn't required.

Cons

Sometimes the virtual office programs freeze up. They freeze up so bad that we can't even normally close out the programs. I have to use the task manager to force close the applicaitons.

Reason for choosing Citrix DaaS

We used Citrix because it was the only option we had where we could keep our current software.

### "Good VDI solution for a big team without automation in mind."

April 26, 2022

4.0

Overall experience is that the lack of automation leads to teams having to focus and spend extra time on repetitive tasks for maintenance and daily administration. There are other solutions that are cheaper and meet the needs of customers in different and automated ways.

Pros

The main thing I like about Citrix is that the HDX protocol is a good one to solve for latency and GPU utilization but there are other competitors that are comparable or better. The cloud offering offloads some work to Citrix but at a high price. I also like the Netscaler product since it is a great solution for application gateways, load balancers and even comes with a containerized solution.

Cons

Citrix has a powershell module that lacks examples cmdlets to perform all the work like changing a base image from a built machine catalog. I don't like the lack of innovation from Citrix being a big company. They have aquired other companies like WEM but these solutions require a lot of manual configuration and lack having a well documented API to perform the manual tasks from automated solutions like Terraform or Ansible. The Netscaler product is the only one with a Nitro API and an Ansible module but the other products like Virtual Apps and Desktops, WEM or Sharefile don't

### "Enterprise software for virtualization of Apps and Desktops"

October 22, 2020

4.0

Its been a great experience over the years and the product keeps maturing over the day and supportability by major cloud providers and hypervisors makes it more favorable for enterprise to adopt the CVAD.

Pros

Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops formerly called as citrix XenApp and XenDesktop is an enterprise software for your organization's virtualization needs of apps and desktops in a simple and secure manner which is compatible with majority of the cloud providers like AWS, Azure and supports on-premise hypervisors like MS Hyper-v, VMware Esxi and Citrix Xenserver. Its easy to deploy and maintain with the help of VM management techniques like Citrix MCS and PVS. It becomes to easy to manage your server work loads and VDI workloads which supports a range of operating systems like WIndows server 2016/2019/2012 for hosted server desktop and application needs, Windows 10/7, linux VDI needs. Overall Citrix is a market leader for virtual apps and desktops based solution for enterprises.

Cons

Licensing costs are slightly on the higher side and frequent updates will make it tougher for enterprises to perform upgrades on a frequent basis.

### "Citrix: A Revolutionary Tool of Efficiency"

December 3, 2022

5.0

Pros

This platform allows us to perform tasks efficiently and accurately. It is best for employees who Work From Home and for freelancers who needs the same functionality and security from the office as it is at home. Its easy to navigate to, the tabs and icons are well thought of and is highly integrated. You can even assist multiple and different concerns as a Customer Service Representative since it allows you to open multiple tabs and still be reliable at the same time. This platform has helped me maximize my time and create world class customer service experience.

Cons

One observation is that Citrix has a tendency to slow down if many users are currently logged in. I hope its just a bug they can fix because it's overall performance is superb.

### "The department was installing a work productivity and document management solution. "

June 11, 2018

5.0

Pros

We had a site license for the Cirtix Desktop and had purchased maintenance and upgrade protection sogoing to the XenDesktop solution was easy. We implemented a server based access to each of the new programs and all 20 users had the same experience of ease of access. The MS office programs integrated smoothly as well. The local resource demand was minimal so we were able to keep a local mirrored data file that only strengthened our data protection efforts.

Cons

The communication software for the enterprise is Apache. We invoked LDAP thinking it would uniformly connect. We were wrong, We tried several workarounds even going so far as to use the POP3 boxes from the MS Outlook readers. The final connections were a hodgepodge of Apache nataive e-mail containers, LDAP addresses and MS POP3 boxes on some of the PCs. Citrix support was able to isolate the problem with the main Apache program. We did identify a training need and in year three it was all working the way intended. Fortunately no one out of the department was aware of our very inelegant solution.

### "Ideal for smart working"

February 18, 2022

5.0

Fast, easy and complete. Apps and desktops can be reached via PC, smartphone/tablets, with or without agent installed (HTML5 compatible).

Pros

It is very flexible and let you decide which apps can be launched by an end user. APP layering is a powerful tool that automates the distribution and creation of the infrastructure.

Cons

It is a little bit expensive, but when compared to the competition, it is the most complete solution ever.

### "Companies are paying Citrix to debug their software"

October 22, 2019

3.0

Fortunately my setup is not as complex so my issues are minimal but my peers in the industry have no shortage of horror stories for me to endure.

Pros

There’s not much to like about this software. It’s a nightmare to troubleshoot since there is no error handling. The product’s documentation is always behind. Citrix rebranded all of their products in hopes that perception would change. It’s just the same crap with a new name.

Cons

Insanely expensive (look at Ericom instead. Best bang for your buck and better designed product overall). Support is not so good. Everything Citrix tries to sell you, the NetScaler will be shoved down your throat.

### "work at home in comfort!"

September 12, 2022

Citrix Workspace is the best thing out there on the market. It has allowed me to use my time wisely during and after work hours. I get to work more efficiently from home, it has also allowed me to save on transportation because i don't have to go into the office to work I can sit in the comfort of my hope and delivery exceptionally good customer service to the customers and also engage them in a more empathetic manner.

Pros

The ability to bring work home is what I love the most about using the Citrix workspace application.

Cons

it can lag a bit some times when pulling up other applications.

### "I used XenDesktop for work while traveling and/or working from home."

April 23, 2018

3.0

Pros

You can access your virtual desktop from basically anywhere. For security purposes, XenDesktop is definitely a good choice. You can have your employees use a virtual desktop instead of storing any company information on a physical device and that's great if you are worried about any sensitive information. It's user friendly in that the desktop looks just like a regular windows desktop. Someone who doesn't know what a virtual desktop is would not be able to tell the difference.

Cons

It's really slow. It takes a very long time to boot up and the screen lags when you're scrolling which is frustrating. If you don't have a strong internet connection - forget it. You also can't use the virtual desktop on more than one monitor at the same time. This caused a few issues at my last job, we were all supposed to use the virtual desktop every day but everyone used 3 monitors so it didn't make sense to be essentially logged in to two separate computers at the same time so almost everyone just didn't use the virtual desktop.

### "Great for hosting, remote access, etc.!"

August 8, 2017

4.0

We can easily host our client application and allow them access remotely on a large scale. It allows all of our users (internal and external) to log in and use their system.

Pros

We use Xendesktop for our hosting platform for our clients. It allows us to run multiple servers/applications from one central location and allow multiple users access to it at once. It is easy to use, quick, great connection, and best of all makes our client lives easier

Cons

There are intermittent connection issues and duplicate account sessions that need to be monitored. Nothing awful

### "Amazing performance, allows virtualizing OS and Apps. Top for VDI deployments."

April 10, 2018

5.0

\-Reduce TCO for IT department. -App virtualization helps my company to track weekly or monthly sales results and cash flow.

Pros

\-It's perfect for business and educations environments, when hardware requirements change every day you can add more memory or space with a few clicks. -Access anywhere anytime, Citrix Receiver app works on almost every mobile device (tablets, cellphones, etc) -Companies with remote employees can protect his data using VDI environments. Lawyer's buffet uses this product against government threats to illegally obtain clients data. -Logs and Reports help IT departments to track issues fast and efficient. -IT departments support for different hypervisors environments, such as XenServer, Hyper-V, and VMware ESXi.

Cons

\-Not available for MAC OS, because of apple restrictions. -Salesperson sometimes forgets hardware, software and services requirements. Need an experienced partner to develop VDI projects and then deploy it. -Security products it´s a must-have, sometimes users forget that the cloud it is also vulnerable.

### "It is the best solution for offshoring company applications"

December 24, 2021

5.0

It is quite nice since everything is inside Citrix and is easily accessible especially those apps that have very sensitive information.

Pros

I like that you can access the apps that are available on your company's main office

Cons

It limits you to only using those apps inside Citrix. It allows the company to strict employees to only use common apps that are used by everyone that is within Citrix

Pros

I like the flexability of devices that connect to the Citrix Reciever. I love having my desktop accessable from anywhere. It's a real standard of work that doen't change if I'm at work, on the road, or at home.

Cons

I have not had some of the issues others report with the Xen Desktop application. I think it comes down to who did your installation and how well the enviorment is maintained.

This is a great solution for home office either in normal times or any others like pandemics. Your office is never far away with Citrix VA & Desktop.

Pros

This software solution brings your office desktop together with your favorite apps, to any place that has access to internet. The security protocol is very good which makes this product a reliable one. The web interface is easy to access and easy to use.

Cons

The initial setup and configuration is not very easy and can be time consuming. The system price overall is high.

June 22, 2022

2.0

Pros

I liked that Citrix enables me to work from anywhere. The only caveat is that you must have a strong internet connection.

Cons

### "Room for Improvement"

April 28, 2018

3.0

It provided more of a benefit to IT than offered to me as an end user.

Pros

It's great for IT since it allows them to reduce their TCO through virtualization. Sensitive data can be kept off of a physical machine and safeguarded in the cloud.

Cons

The biggest drawback is the inability to use dual monitors. This needs to change immediately for XenDesktop to be more appealing to users. The performance is dependent on the internet connection and can lag at times.

### "Easy, reliable and straight forward virtualization and remote access"

June 29, 2022

5.0

Great positive experience.

Pros

I have not used much virtualization before so this was kind of a new thing for me to be using on regular basis and I've been really empressed. The stability and speed of working with the remote desktop and the other ability to launch a specific app/service right up was very convenient and made it so much sense particularly from working at a remote location to ensure security.

Cons

Nothing that I can currently recall. May be as I dig deeper into it.

### "Citrix allows us to deliver a workable environment fast and secure"

April 16, 2018

4.0

Overall I enjoy this product and it makes my life 10 times easier.

Pros

I love the features that Citrix Xen desktop has to offer, application and desktop delivery. I am excited to get into app layering and delivery as well.

Cons

Customer support is pretty intermittent in terms of getting someone who knows what they are talking about. Sometimes the way they want you to set things up is counter-intuitive and isn't as straightforward as you would hope. like setting up a desktop to deliver vs an application.
